Othellos Cafe Bar in Stockport

Eternally grateful to Othello's cafe for allowing ohana youth theatre to take over upstairs during the Stockport Spectacular on Sunday 17. The rain was relentless and Othello's cafe took pity on us. Food was good too and staff very friendly. Thank you

Ordered 2 breakfasts and 2 teas . Teas were more like warm milk (worst cup of tea I’ve ever had from anywhere) when breakfast was done it was slapped on the counter to collected yourself, sausage was the cheapest nastiest you could get lumps of gristle in them some of the mushrooms were cooked and some weren’t (and I mean raw) and the place just looked drab and grubby also the cook looked like he just couldn’t be bothered and didn’t want to be there .

Staff friendly and that's the good bit over with. Decor is ok so long as you don't mind peeling wallpaper and mould everywhere. Toilets are upstairs so if you're not able bodied forget it. While we're on toilets, try not to use them. The gents had a toilet cleaning brush in the corner caked in used toilet paper, presumably from a cleared blockage. No toilet paper whatsoever unless you wanted to scrape it off the cleaning brush. Decor in even worse state upstairs than down with plaster flaking off because of damp and mould. Floors are not too clean either although they were in the process of mopping them while we were there. Food you ask? Well after the first impressions I suppose we should have walked, but we decided to give the food a go, safe option chips and gravy, how can they mess that up? Lumpy gravy and cold plates that's how. Says it all when the food hygiene rating is 1, I should have checked before I went in. For Stockport town centre this place is an utter disgrace. Do your health a favour and steer well clear till it's had a complete overhaul.

The prices are good and I did enjoy my cheese and onion toastie, but I have to be honest, I'm not sure I will come back again after using the toilet. It's filthy! It makes me wonder how clean the staff are that are handling the food.

We called in for lunch , we ordered jacket potato, I wanted cheese and coleslaw the assistant-said we don’t do coleslaw , but it’s on the menu board I said , she looked at me gone out Potatoes were a little hard My friend went to the toilet and said it was filthy dirty she couldn’t touch anything As we were leaving a customer came over with her plate , liver chips peas and can you believe coleslaw I won’t be visiting again

Called in for lunch. Ordered baked potato. Terrible! Food inedible, surroundings very run down, cutlery not clean Avoid! There are plenty of alternative cafes and restaurants in the area

Went in with my wife for lunch she had a English breakfast which she enjoyed I plumped for the hot turkey and stuffing bap with salad and crisps , to me it was a very thin portion of what looked like packet turkey and no crisps I was very disappointed , will be going elsewhere where next time

I've had the burger and toasties here, with chips, freshly cooked and well priced. Looks nicer now it's been done up a bit, it needed doing. Handy spot near the new cinema and where I work!

I have been going to Othello's for about 20 years, only occasionally though as its rare I go into the town nowadays, we visited on saturday 3rd feb 2018, the area has vastly changed since I was last there with the addition of the Red Rock complex, its actually quite good, there is now space outside the cafe to sit down as part of the new development [subject to nice weather of course]. Me and my other half just had Burger and Chips each, and coffee, I was impressed by the prices for a town centre cafe, extremely reasonable [cheese burger with chips £3.75, milky coffee I think was £1.20]. The place is clean and tidy, and the staff are good. No complaints from me, I think I will be back sooner to try a Panini which looked very tasty.
