Staff unfriendly food was nice but really overpriced. No cheap menu anymore

Limited food menu, only set menu offered and was declined to order from the kids set menu for the lady I was supporting who doesn't eat that much at a time and doesn't have £25 to spend on lunch. We ended up leaving without ordering anything.

Came in for Christmas Day lunch, we were very pleased with the service and the quality of the food and the portion sizes were excellent. We will be booking here for next year all being well

The service was poor Manager she was rude and clearly needs to have lessons in what a customer is Steak not cooked correctly but told it was perfect Last time we ever visit this poorly run excuse for a restaurant

Relaxed venue with plenty of choice of foo and drink and close to some riverside walks.

Had a lovely Christmas meal here a couple weeks ago. There was a supplier issue that night and some of the meals were not available on the menu but this was explained to us straight away and it didn't affect our evenign at all. Our server Elise was fantastic and made our visit extremely relaxed, going out of her way to accomodate our requirements and answer all our questions.

I visited this spot 13th December 2024. There was an issue with some food being not available due to a suppliers issue. This did not detract from the great food and excellent service from Elise our waitress. The food was nice and hot with no wait between courses, even though the restaurant was busy. The waitress was very bubbly and polite and constantly checked everything was ok. I will be visiting again very shortly. The restaurant is great value for money.

We visited the restaurant Sunday evening, we were welcomed & seated straight away & asked what drinks we wanted, staff were young , pleasant, helpful & the service was quick. As it was a works Christmas meal it would have been nice if there were christmas crackers & maybe a bit of a christmas theme but there was'nt anything.However the food was excellent & piping hot i had cheese fondue to start with bruscetta, Christmas Turkey Roast & an after eight icecream dessert all of which were very enjoyable. There is a spacious car park & disabled parking it was very clean & the 3 course meal was around about £25, i won't hesitate to return in the near future.

Excellent Sunday lunch. Beef and turkey cooked to perfection. Service was friendly and very efficient. Will be back!!

Gin and tonic not good . Tap tonic must have run out of syrup, no apology. Doom bar disgusting duty manager not apologetic eventually admitted end of barrel . Food not bad Service of manager and young lady appalling no people skills. Christmas spirit... definately not!! Perhaps a smile would help !@

Had a really lovely Xmas meal here with family, the staff are friendly and so helpful, they really do go the extra mile and I cannot recommend the restaurant enough for service and quality

Fast and attentive service and food. Well priced and good food. Able to accommodate large parties and changes to those on the day without any problems. Willing to modify and check menu options for dietary requirements. The staff are friendly, and the atmosphere is not too loud so you are able to have good conversations with friends.

A lovely place with a lovely atmosphere. I ordered a steak with chips and it was delicious. With really quick service, you can bet I'm coming back.

Food was ok and service but my elderly father put his pin number in on the card machine when it asks for a tip. He did not realise and ended leaving nearly a £50 tip on a £200 bill. Once realised we asked for a refund only to be told they dont refund tips!!!! How can that be true!! Taking a pensioners money away! Shocking. We will be taking it up via the complaints procedure. Shameful.

Went in to order breakfast as the website states serving from 6.30 til 10.30 (it was 9.55am) was told no they arent. So wasted trip, even though others were having orders taken. Also no other option given such as brunch instead?

Definitely wouldn't recommend this place. Completely wasted our time. Says Sunday roast until 10pm. We arrived at 5pm to no food. Waitress wasn't bothered that our time was wasted. Went elsewhere to eat

Couldn’t fault the whole visit. The food was very good. Menu choice was ideal for family of varied ages. Shane was very friendly and efficient. He made the visit great fun and made us feel welcome and found time for some chat and banter. Definitely an asset to the business.

Superb service from Shane, great fresh cooked breakfast served on a hot plate, continental breakfast all kept topped up. Would highly recommend.

First visit for a while. Very average welcome and shown to a table for 4 when there were just 2 of us. Very bright room with no atmosphere and we asked to be moved. We were moved to a table for 2 in a much nicer area. I have to question why we weren't offered this initially. A special offer advertised was the reason for our choice of venue but the special menu wasn't given to us. When we asked for it it was a different price than advertised. When we asked why we got a sarcastic reply. We chose our meal only to be told when ordering there was no fish and chips. Really! Pretty common for chains they don't have any management, just individuals doing what they want. Can't imagine we will hurry back!

Had a great meal here whilst away on holiday. Menu is really good and food was excellent. Shane looked after us and was very attentive, refilling drinks as needed. Service was quick and good quality.

We often eat at Beefeater restaurants and when being shown to our table, we are usually told the name of the person who will be looking after us. That did not happen on this occasion. I was quite impressed by the young lady who took our order and asked her name. She gave her name but I didn’t quite catch it, so I asked her to spell it. I was intending to make a positive comment on Trip advisor. She said she would get back to me, but didn’t. That was the end of her involvement with our table. Instead we were served by the person who turned out to be the duty manager. We had both ordered rare steaks but when they arrived mine was ok but my wifes was overcooked and a completely different colour to mine. They should have been similar, both being rare. My wife drew this to the attention of our server who flat out refused to accept that there was a problem. After some argument the steak was returned to the kitchen and a satisfactory replacement arrived. During the whole of this time our server’s attitude left a lot to be desired. The pleasant start to the evening had been transformed into a most unpleasant experience and I decided make a very different post on Trip Advisor. I asked our server his name and he flatly refused to give it. I told him I would not pay the bill until he gave his name. He still refused and said he would call the Police. I told him to go ahead. We had finished our meal and waited for the Police to arrive. When some time had passed and the Police did not arrive, I asked how long they would be and was told they had not been called. We had had a long day and I again asked for our server’s name. He still refused to give it, but my wife was told his first name was Cameron by another member of staff. There was a point of principal here and I was reluctant to back down, but we just wanted to leave so I went to the till and asked to see Cameron. He arrived and I settled the bill in full. I was quite shocked when he smirked and told me I’d been a F*****g A******e” all night. When I asked what I had done to justify his words he had nothing to say. He did give me a business card for the General Manager. Before leaving a review with trip advisor I thought it fair to give The General Manager a chance to comment so I wrote to him on 16th August. I have yet to receive the courtesy of a reply.

Very poor service , due to serious lack of staff. The poor lad was going from pillor to post. Thankfully the food redeemed the place.

Was here last night with my group, had dinner and breakfast this morning. All was excellent, great food and staff, it was a pleasure to be here!

Had the rump steak was cooked perfectly and the flavour was amazing, and the crumble for dessert was just as good. Had an amazing last meal out with my other half's family before I moved to Australia. The only disappointing part was out waitress who didn't seem very happy or chatty and just slammed our food down and walked off. Would highly recommend though definitely worth visiting!

The oyster reach is a really delightful place to go eat. The food is top notch and cooked to perfection, the texture melts in your mouth in flavours. Staff are always really friendly and inviting and helpful. Nice bar area to have a drink in as well which in the week is never too crowded. Access for disabled is easy and my disabled service user from work loves coming here for his evening meal and always enjoys it

Came in for breakfast on Sunday morning. Haven't been before and living so close it was a nice surprise. The manager was accommodating, kind and hugely approachable. Must make sure you book as the premier in does absorb most of their tables. So just plan ahead as you should. Thank you

Walk in breakfast, very good one guy on his own very professional.

Cameron our waiter was very nice and polite. The young man who took our order didn't write it down and we joked about how he'd remember our order. Our meals came mine and my husbands missing the sweetcorn cobs and no side of onion rings . When I queried this he bought them out . The onion rings very overdone and full of oil. When I went to the ladies one of ghe chefs!! was on her phone at the cooking station ! When I asked if any managers were on I was told only team leaders ( I think that's what she said ) . Staff standing chatting while customers are at the entance waiting to be seated. Sadly I feel this place has gone downhill.

Turned away twice for breakfast as not taking walk ins but was fine two weeks prior.

First class lunch. Food very well cooked and piping hot and very good standard and good value for money.

Could have been 5 stars but for the attitude of the server in the restaurant who, although had empty tables (apparently booked for 4pm) could not seat us so we ate in the bar. The girl there was very friendly and service there was great.

Our lunch at this steakhouse was a great experience. The steaks were cooked to perfection- juicy, tender, and bursting with flavour. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, making it perfect for a family gathering. The staff were incredibly attentive and friendly, ensuring we had everything we needed. We'll definitely be returning soon!

Quickly taken to a table despite not booking this could be a mistake as its very busy not sure if that's because of the current offers. Our waitress Martha arrives Quickly very smiley & has everything we need to have a pleasant evening attentive knowledgeable about the offers & takes our drinks order we are not quite ready but that's not a problem. After placing our order the restaurant has an air that everyone knows what they are doing its pretty full but the the staff are clearly smashing it. Our steaks our spot on how we wanted them cooked everything else on the plate is hot including the plate. Second drinks order came quickly still with a smile Martha happy to chat. Deserts to the same standard asked if we needed anything else as things slowed down NO one hassling us to go which also makes a change. Bill very reasonable with or without the offer. We will visit again as we are local. Also a Big thank you to the Chef Jasmine for not only quality food but coping with a smile ❤️

Had a lovely dinner. good food, good value.

The beef and ale pie pastry top was very hard, uneatable, we asked for the air-conditioning to be turned off, twice and it was turned back on, but then they turned it on the third time, ( we were only us 2 seating in the area) we got up and paid and went out, not happy with the service.

Kate was brilliant and made the day for our Mother whose 80th birthday it was on the day of our visit! They were under staffed but Kate went above and beyond to make Mum feel very special xx A day she will not forget as U made us laugh whilst still getting on with your job and working extremely hard

We regularly come for breakfast and today didn't disappoint. Kate was front of house and was an absolute pleasure to deal with. The breakfast was very well cook and absolutely delicious. Great selection of continental choice. I can't remember the chefs name but thank you. Great value for money £10.99 for a cooked and continental. Or £8.99 for continental both with unlimited coffee wow. Oh and kids eat free. Well done to Kate she is an absolute star as are all the other staff we have come across in this restaurant. Keep up the good work you are all a great asset to the company for sure

Food average, service less than average and to top a very poor evening the bar closed at 10 on a Saturday night. Don't bother.

No staff around to order food. food is not great for the price you pay and not much choice, attitude of staff is poor.

A very pleasant evening with my wife ,grandson and a friend of the family. It was a perfect evening.

The menu said food served between 12-5. We turned up at 3 and they said they were not serving food.. So we took our custom and money to brewers fayre up the road. They were happy to take our money.. lovely food ☺️

Went on a Saturday afternoon the weather wasn't very nice so sat indoors and even in the bar area it wasn't very warm, I was glad to have jumper with me. Staff were in short supply and those that were there not very customer friendly we decided we were going to have something to eat and was then told kitchen was having a break and would be back at 4.30 which was fine but no where does it say that the serve food between 12-3 and x-x which would have been useful. When I did get round to ordering I was stood waiting at the bar for ages while the staff member was cleaning the floor, no acknowledgement that I was there or that she would be with me and no apology when she did decide to serve me and if I could see her she could see me. After I had ordered and sat down another guy tried to order and she just told him she would have to see if he could as we had been there a long time (it was now 4.50) so obviously not cleat to all staff when they do serve food. Food when it came was nice, hot and enjoyable.

Great range of food, including vegan options. Easy booking through app. Pleasant staff. Reasonable prices.

Beefeater Oyster Reach, Wherstead, Ipswich - DON'T GO!!!!! Friday 31 May 2024 I called in at 4.50pm to book a table. A Chef was standing behind the desk and politely asked if he could help. I asked if there maybe a table for 2 at approx 5.45pm; the Chef said they were "shortstaffed". I said thank you, not to worry, but he told me to wait while he got a member of staff. There was only 1 table eating directly in front of me, other tables empty. A Manager came and abruptly said "nothing tonight". I was not greeted at all, and not even asked what time or for how many; his mannerism was very unprofessional and his attitude disgusting for a Senior Front of House representative. My wife and I could have returned in 15 minutes. Having worked for Beefeater/Whitbread for many years in the West Midlands this was very disappointing in the service.

Don't go to the Oyster Reach, Ipswich !! Friday 31st May 2024 I called in at 4.50pm to book a table. The Manager very unprofessional, there was no welcome greeting, just him saying "fully booked tonight"; He didn't even ask what time booking was for, or for how many. His attitude was absolutely disgusting. At that time there was only one table eating, restaurant was empty. My wife and I could have come down within 15 minutes. The chef who was very polite, was at the desk when I entered, said they were "short-staffed" but to wait while he went to get a member of staff. Definitely one Beefeater to give a miss, after working for them for many years in the West Midlands.

Over the last two weeks we've been for breakfast. Had wonderful welcome and such good service from KATE. Cooked breakfast was fab by as well. Our compliments to the chef..

I visited Oyster Reach this morning and was quite dissatisfied with the overall service. It took an extensive amount of time for our order to be taken, and when the food finally arrived, two items were missing from my daughter's plate. Opting for the unlimited breakfast, after finishing my meal, I still felt a bit hungry and attempted to order more. However, despite waiting for over 15 minutes with empty plates in front of us, no staff members were in sight. Eventually, frustrated, I decided to settle the bill and leave. As I made my way to the counter to pay, I observed the waitress and chef engaged in a conversation with another customer, causing an additional delay in completing my transaction. It is concerning that more attention was focused on chatting rather than attending to customers and maintaining cleanliness in the establishment. It is unacceptable to depart from a dining establishment offering unlimited breakfast still feeling hungry. The service today was absolutely unacceptable, and I am disappointed to say that I will not be returning. I much prefer The Swallow in Ipswich, which provides a similar menu and offer, but allows customers to serve themselves due to its buffet-style setup.

Had our breakfast on 30/04/24 waited at desk to be seen nearly over 5 mins the waitress was so miserable not friendly at all the food was excellent the chef is a credit to the company

Wonderful service from the staff, can't fault it, even if I tried. Food wise, it's tasty and well presented. However, it's a bit pricy. For the portions that is. Overall, great 👍

20 of us attended there Sunday afternoon for an 80th birthday celebration.... The service we received was exceptional so to was the meal.... We all had different types of roast, and they were all served together perfectly cooked and hot.... Absolute perfection.

Once again a perfect breakfast,sustained us all day.

We took our son and 2 2x grandchildren on Easter Friday and many times before. We was served by a lady called Deny and chef Joes Isophie the food was good, delicious and tasty, the service was excellent she was very friendly and polite.

We had a good evening, great food and service.

This place was attached to the premier Inn next door. Work had organised the accommodation and added a meal deal so were eating breakfast and diner here. The food was fine. Nothing over special but tasty none the less. Enjoyed the breakfast and all the meals I personally had although a colleague has an under cooked chicken one night. With some of the food,drinks and dessert an extra cost had to be paid if wanted under the meal deal. The service was fine, some staff friendlier than others but none were rude. The food always arrived without too much of a wait and a good temperature.

Went here before the Ipswich v Sunderland football match. Disappointed in the food, very basic, and smallish portions. Service was good though.

Went to the oyster reach from my son's 23rd birthday.book the table for 6 sat down. Nice big round table. All clean tidy server came across order drinks then ordered food is very good. Choice of two courses. Three courses or 4 courses. Good selection and also good allergy card. What was given to my daughter, food came out hot. Very nice. Good value for money. Went to the restroom. It was clean. It was tidy. . plenty of hand soap and sanitizer. Overall 9 at 10. The glass had lip stick mark on round top ,so the glass wasn't washed properly but the server came straight over and replace the drink and a glass and everything was good, we were very well looked after by the server who took the menus and brought off food over. Think her name was Denise but she was very good. A credit to the oyster reach ,

Went on the 27th of December for a family meal and have been stuffering from mild good poisoning since. The first server left us sat there for close to 30 minutes before taking our drinks order, we had to chase up twice with him and his coworker before we got the drinks. Left for ages again before our food order was taken, this time by a different server. Most of us got our food around the same time but they forgot to put in one guest's starter order so we had to wait again for thay to arrive, then one main came out about ten minutes after the rest. The plant based festive roast was disgusting, everything was over cooked and REALLY over salted. The potatoes looked like they'd been cooked a few days ago, left in the fridge, and then chucked in the microwave for a couple of minutes. The plant filet and veggie sausage were burnt and dry and tasted horrific. Not my choice to have gone there, will be asking not to go there again.

Very helpful & friendly staff when we had the Unlimited Breakfast. Also very considerate when dealing with my (very) temporary access problems.
