I have been there to buy lunch with my client (vulnerable adult). I was shocked to see the fresh food displayed in the middle of the shop, without a glass and any protections against germs, bacterials, lately.. virus! I couldn’t believe. No price wise regards the fresh food they serve. I ended up with a box of beans (literally BEANS) with a £10 at the till. My client bought meat, so at least she thought it was quite worth the price (quite). At the till the woman didn’t even give us 2bags, but just one, that got broken in the middle of the street. No napkins either.... and visible annoyed when I asked to split the bill in two. What to say more? Not a good experience at all.

Lugar único y encantador, tenía un delicioso café y zumo de naranja, pero el rollo que compré para 3 estaba rancio y pasada, lo que me hizo preguntarme cuándo fue hecho. Es una pena que ya no quiera comer aquí.

Qué joya junto a Clapton estanque.

This place is a great hidden gem for breakfast on the weekends- the decor is beautiful. The food is great menu nice variety - had bruchetta with avacado nice big portion and very tasty and fresh. Have been many times since and had a great experience every time. Looking forward to also trying the roast dinner which I have heard great things about! The shop is also lovely and they do great bbq's on the weekends outside.

Best artisanal Full English I've had in ages, and I'm an afficionado! The GF had a great salmon thing too. Freshly squeezed pomegranate juice. Good veg options. Charming offbeat pop up this. Week end only.

The staff don't speak English. Even asking for directions to the toilets is impossible. But 'OK' is not an appropriate answer I am afraid... Food orders just as bad, food preparation slowest in Hackney. Just close the place!

After working for Abdul Solak for 7 months as Head Chef of Candela, of which he was a business partner, I can confidently say as I'm sure will any other members of my staff who went unpaid over Xmas 2014 and still haven't been paid up to date, that Abdul Solak and the businesses he is involved in,Palm2, Organic & Natural and unfortunately Baobab Cafe are all sham as heck. The site at 159 Lower Clapton Road, currently, Baobab Cafe, being the most unfortunate for many employees in my experience. With Abdul Solak's signature on the lease agreement any partners or business collaborators have pretty much zero rights in the case of problems arising. Ask the previous employees of Candela if in any doubt as to the truth herein. You can't liquidate a business without the signature of the leaseholder apparently so Candela never really closed, it's just a ghost of Clapton. The same as Riley's Bar before it and I'm sure Baobab Cafe will be. So the next time you think of renting the space above Palm 2 or buying any overpriced and out of date fruit and veg downstairs or fancy a crap coffee or some unsustainable organic produce, spare a thought for the unpaid proletariat that Abdul Solak builds his empire on. Surely sustainability should extend to sustaining the people who do the work to make things happen, rather than just the man who cracks the whip with a greedy look in his eye. All the best with the whole Clapton Village aesthetic Abdul Solak, because that's all it is. Peace

A real local shop where the staff are extremely helpful all under the Guidance of the owner who takes the time to speak to all his customers and see how they are.The groundfloor is a first class food emporium selling the best products from all over the world, there are a wide choice of home cooked meals available at lunchtime with great coffee and for those that wish you can sit and eat outside. For those with a sweet tooth there is always a large selection of cakes and pastries (once again all home cooked) and finally a large wine stock. Upstairs is a large eating area which has great views of this busy part of the East End and here you can also enjoy a varied selection of great food. They run special nights featuring mexican, chinese, north african and thai themed evenings and finally you can have a great english breakfast on saturday and sunday mornings. Every area should have a PALM 2.

If you're got too much money to spend, you can pay £2.50 for an overcooked (almost burnt) baguette. 20% more that anywhere else on milk, etc. This is Clapton for you.

Great pub, Great drink selection, Great crowd and Great Atmosphere… the only downside was the barman… Big guy, dark skin, I believe his name was Paul… made weird comments towards us and constantly looked at us with strange eye contact throughout the evening… I don’t know if he was drunk or what but he wouldn’t leave us alone and made our experience so uncomfortable we had to leave just to get away from him and even as we tried to exit he then tried to get our personal contact information… such a weird strange man… I wouldn’t come back here if I see him working… otherwise it’s great place to be

I was passing so decided to pop in after seeing the cakes in the window. Very cramped inside and it was very busy. Service was good and packed up in a box for me to takeaway. Cakes were great and I would visit again when back in the area.

The worst service I have ever received, I got a terrible coffee from a friend who works alone and is not a barista. I am making this comment in front of the door… Wherever I am in the world, I prefer Costa coffee, but this takes all the pleasure out of me and I become Aticak instead of drinking this coffee.

Would be 5 stars if they turned the music down to a conversation-enabling level. Otherwise it’s one of London's best pubs: a friendly vibe, a great range of beers, a diverse clientele amid well-preserved ornate Victorian splendour!
