They want to get as many people as possible to feel the experience, but in the shuffle, they forget to check on empty glasses, uncleared plates, or bills not yet paid. The service is enthusiastic, but management seems to expect something impossible of its frontline staff. Cheerfulness cannot make up for lake of capacity

Modern Italian restaurant in Borough Market. Buzzy atmosphere. Open plan kitchen, so you can watch your food being prepared. Starters and pasta were delicious. Portions are small. Highly recommend the burrata to start, gnocchi and alla chittara pasta with truffle.

We stumbled upon this cute little restaurant on a busy Saturday night. It was packed but the hostess got us seated upstairs within 5m. Me and my finance had the cauliflower salad, artichoke, scallops with charcoal spaghetti, spicy sausage ragu. The ingredients were super high end, we got served by Benjamin. We really loved talking to Benjamin. His service was incredible. Quick, friendly, efficient and fun. Thank you Ben! We will definitely be coming back!! We inhaled the food so fast, didn’t have a chance to take photos lol - the bill was quite reasonable considering the quality.

I had a horrible experience today when I wanted to order a cannolo without candied orange. The manager said they would not serve me the cannolo without the candied orange as their policy does not allow to make any changes to the dishes out of respect for their chefs. I am so sorry but ordering a cannolo without those 6 pieces of candied orange on top is not swapping the ingredients or making significant changes to the dish. I was also told I could just get the cannolo as it comes and they would “allow me to take off the candied orange myself” 🤣. So I did! but in current times when there is a huge food waste and sustainability awareness movement I simply cannot justify their policy. Bancone used to be my favourite restaurant and I recommended it to all my friends but clearly they do not care about their customers so I will definitely not be dining at their branches again. The only positive experience was the waitress whose customer service and attentiveness was amazing and she was the only reason why I have not asked to take the “optional service charge” off my bill because she really earned it. I have attached pictures of such candied orange before and after I have taken them off the cannolo myself for reference.

Exceptional service, outstanding food, and a vibrant atmosphere. Every dish impressed, the service was flawless. Getting a reservation in the restaurant area can prove tricky, but the bar seating, which is often available, felt like the place to be seated. Full of patrons and energy. Even the bread was elevated to something memorable — well worth returning for.

Homemade pasta was really good. Staffs were so attentive, we have no ideas where to eat since we were a tourist with 1 kid. It was packed but the host was very helpful since we don’t have UK phone. We were very welcome by the server and the service was very professional even though it’s busy night. We will visit this place again .

Had a lovely pre-theatre dinner here. Sat at the counter (single diner) and watched the kitchen. It was a finely tuned production, maybe even better than the show I saw later that night. And when I threw a kink in the works (accidentally broke a wine glass over the top of the counter), the team didn't lose a moment. Swept in, cleaned up, brought me a new glass, and kept the pace going without breaking stride. Kudos to Chef and his team.

The restaurant is beautiful and the service is very kind: there was a hair in the pasta and they offered to make the dish again. The food was good but I wouldn't say memorable. At least I appreciate they are trying to make unusual recipes. The place was very cold, like no heating system was on, so a bit uncomfortable!

We got handkerchief pasta with truffles, spicy pork, and gnocchi with snail butter. I have to say the handkerchief pasta with truffles with the absolute highlight of the meal. The snail butter was very interesting and very good but not as good as the other two.

Up there with the best meals I’ve ever eaten, certainly the best pasta I’ve ever had. Very well balanced dishes, lardo toast with truffled honey was the perfect match of sweet and salty, scallop pasta with miso and pickled fennel perfectly matched the richness of the sauce with the sharp notes from the pickled fennel and the combination of savoury, earthy olive oil alongside slightly sweet ice cream and oat crumble for the dessert was the perfect way to end. Friendly, helpful service, thoughtful wine/cocktail menu and great playlist add to the experience.

One of the best pastas I've eaten in my life! I was here with my girlfriend and her parents just before Christmas. The starter was very tasty and the main courses were so delicious that we skipped dessert and ate 2 main courses. The homemade Negronis are also recommended! We will definitely come back to London to eat here!

Got the Aglio e Olio (they all it Spaghetti alla chitarra) and the Herdwick Hogget and both were delicious. Highly recommend. Portion size could be bigger but it is a reasonably priced place for the quality of food you’re getting. Would recommend for a casual lunch or dinner. Not necessarily for a date night to impress.

Delicious pastas and wonderful service - we thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and were well taken care by Nicole who gave us great suggestions - we got the handkerchief pasta, the scallop and miso pasta and the Herdwick hogget pappardelle and they were all so unique and tasty. Dont forget the dessert - the Fior di latte - my only regret is having to share it with my family!

Like many restaurants around Borough Market, it's in a large railway arch, which has been beautifully fitted-out, with the bar and kitchen down one side. The food is as good as I remember the food in the "original" Bancone (by the Chandos in Covent Garden) being. For the quality of food, service and atmosphere, it's reasonably priced and there are some good wines for around £35 a bottle.

Tried Bancone and had the silk handkerchiefs and pickled chilli pasta. The food was alright, I’d say around 3.5 to 4 stars. But we were not thrilled to see a £1 charity donation added to our bill without a heads-up. That the donation would be added was not highlighted on the menu. We were asked if we wanted to split the bill but not if we wanted to give a donation and it was automatically added. We got it removed in the end, but it felt a bit sneaky. Gift aid should be claimed by the individual giving the donation, not the organisation collecting it

This is a good pasta restaurant with flavourful dishes at a reasonable price- I would return. We had a slight issue with the crab pasta and the staff were fantastic and quickly resolved the matter. Unfortunately there seemed to be a lot of tension between staff with verbal arguments taking place infront of customers which is a shame. Overall good restaurant near main tourist areas.

First time in Bancone, absolutely loved the exprerience. We were sat on the counter, which allowed you to see how the food is being made. Food was delicious but service in particular was amazing. Staff were nice and welcoming. Our waiter Benjamin was super friendly and gave us great recommendations for food (Gorgonzola pasta dish, so rich and flavourful). Great quality food for very reasonable price and a beautiful venue. 10/10.

An outstanding dining experience. From the second we stepped through the door til we left the team at Bacone fulfilled every expectation. We were thrilled with Mya who was assigned to look after us. Really loved this place. Although the portions are appropriate sized (not large) the taste was delicious, and also inventive menu's. Husband had charcoal pasta with scallop and I had a crab ravioli style dish. Price excellent. Service excellent. Staff also kindly recharged my phone in their office. Great atmosphere.

In all the years we've been going to Bancone, it was sad and surprising to have to send back my favourite pasta dish (Walnut Silk Handkerchiefs). It was unforgivably salty! That was a first. Thankfully, it was replaced without an issue and came back quickly and absolutely perfect, even warmer than the first. Just wonderful service. Later, ordered the fried artichoke, but the romesco was saltier! Inedible. Didn't have the time to have it sent back as had an event to attend. Not a great note to leave on. Either the head chef and his team are smokers to allow such salty food to go out, or the numbers are not what you'd like so need to make your patrons thirsty so they drink more. Whatever it is, it's a mistake. A year or so ago you were looking for investors to expand. If this is how you're expanding, allowing this inconsistency and low quality to be served, it will implode. Maybe that's what is going on. Can't say when I'll consider booking a table at Borough Yards again. And since Golden Square isn't a match to either Borough Yards or Covent Garden, we stopped going there ages ago, too. We've never had any issue with anything from the original venue in Covent Garden, just couldn't get in this time. Will definitely stick to tables there. Let's all hope and pray the quality stays there; I need my Walnut pasta ;-) The real positive is that the service team is most always fabulous and a pleasure. They cannot be faulted. Thank you. Clearly they're needed now more than ever.

Went here for my birthday dinner and had an incredible experience with the meal and most of the staffs. However when we paid, there was already an extra £1 billed for a donation. It wasn’t much and i didn’t really mind as it was my birthday anyways. But I’m new in London so out of curiosity i asked if this can be taken out, and the waitress replied “you can if you REALLY want to. It’s only £1 anyways”. We found that quite rude. Nevertheless, food and atmosphere was amazing.

We had dinner on a Saturday and were served by Benjamin. First we hesitated since the restaurant was fully booked and we had the only online option to be seated at the counter, although we did not regret our decision to go nonetheless. The counter seats were the perfect seating for a dinner for two since you have a perfect view on the open kitchen and the amazing dishes the kitchen crew composes live in front of you. From the sicilian speck to the delicious walnut and butter pasta, the food is simply outstanding. The drinks complement the food in great harmony and Benjamin was a fantastic host with great humour. We will definitely be back on our next visit to London!

Delicious Italian food, excellent service by Dana and a vibey setting - we loved the lard on toast, the fried artichoke, the pasta with ragù, the fish pasta (though portion is quite small), the pasta with garlic and chillies, and the silk handkerchiefs signature dish (which was outstanding). Excellent and attentive service, lovely cocktails and franciacorta, and a nice and vibrant setting made for an excellent meal. Will be back!

Deffo get the artichoke with a side of bread (Dana's suggestion), burrata is so creamy, silk handkerchiefs with truffle is gorgeous, and the desserts are so yummy. Service isn't great, I was on my own and given a counter seat - I asked if I could have a table as I have a bad back but I was told no as the tables were all taken. However, when I left I counted 8 empty tables. The disabled toilet seat was completely broken, I don't think they cater well here for anyone who isn't a fit and healthy person. The food was good but not as good as Golden Square. The staff clearly were still preparing the restaurant until at least 1230, I would have expected them to be ready as soon as they opened. All in all I won't be back.

Go here to eat pasta. Every pasta dish we had was exemplar! Coupled with decent wine at very reasonable prices it’s a damn good option. Nice setting but would benefit from linen table cloths as a quick fix for the rather loud atmosphere. The Gorgonzola, Swiss Chard, Pappardelle, Guanciale was bloody excellent 👌🏻 and the stand out dish along with the Praline Cannolo, Crystallised Hazelnuts for pudding. Yum

If you want some good pasta this is a place to come to. The pasta and quantity was well worth it and the wine was very tasty. Also our waiter Benjamin was very friendly and made us feel comfortable in the restaurant. Definitely coming back!!

The food quality and quantity was very disappointing for the price we paid. The meat cheese board had small portions, I am Spanish and the cheese was not interesting or good, not to mention the meat… The bravas were a ridiculous size that you can easily get for free everywhere in Spain ( or for less than 3 quid honestly) It’s quite sad because it doesn’t portray what I understand as Spanish food. In Spain, we are more generous with the portions and the quality of the product. I won’t go back

I am such a fan of the Pizzaro restaurants and the great thing about this spot is you can get a table late notice!! The food is absolutely delicious, a quirky twist on traditional Spanish dishes. The plates are purposefully constructed and the flavours complement eachother so well. They are so simple but divine. I can’t recommend the croquetas enough!! If you are looking for a trusted spot on the foodie strip that is Bermondsey street, this is the perfect option.

It was my second time there and I can say it was a mistake to go there. These are the worst tapas I’ve ever had. Most of the food looks and rates as if it’s straight from a can. Do not go there!
