Disappointing Experience at Paul Coffee, Canada Square I visited Paul Coffee at Canada Square, Canary Wharf, and ordered two coffees—a flat white and a mocha. Unfortunately, the experience was far from pleasant. The coffee not only looked unappealing but also tasted terrible. It was clear that little care had gone into its preparation. When I approached the staff to politely let them know about the quality, I was met with dismissive attitudes and unprofessional behavior—some of them even made faces as if I was being unreasonable for pointing out valid concerns. For a café located in such a prime area, I expected much better service and product quality. Sadly, both fell short. I wouldn’t recommend this place based on my experience.

I had a wonderful experience at this Paul branch! It was a true pleasure to get my Galette des Rois here. The staff member who assisted me was incredibly friendly and helpful. The Galette itself was delicious and provided an authentic taste of France. Well done!

The customer service is atrocious. At 10:30am this morning there were more staff behind the counter than customers waiting in the line. I understand that they were busy preparing online orders from what I have observed but I was never acknowledged despite giving eye-contact. Then a couple of tourists walks in and they get served. I went to GREGGS where the cashier was lovely, there was no queue and the goods are half the price!

19 Dec 24: today I order a hot chocolate and guess what? They added milk in it!!! What the hell. Look at the picture. 11months ago : Visited after a year. Finally the new staff are soooo much better, nicer and lovelier. Food and drinks are great but the service is beyond shocking for me every single time :'(

Rude staff… seemed to close earlier than closing times stated online. Very disappointed that they completely ignored me… and didn’t have the audacity to acknowledge my presence and just let me stand there. Complete shambles. Steer clear.

Baguette was too hard. I almost had a headache after biting the whole sandwich.

It is kind of my routine place to come here when I am in the shopping mall.This is my neighbourhood and good place go and convenient for me.. It also is lively and crowded place.For this reason,Service should be atleast on decent level and more organised.However,It is a bit slow and seems a bit non trained staff working over there. It could have been much better but this is the case. I like the area and coming here almost everyday. But not for the service and products.Just for the location and environment.

the 5 stars are for professionalism and courtesy. Seb, I think that's his name, is a professional and never stops working. He always looks around for customers and never disappoint. Definitely deserves 5 stars

Desorganised staff, don't respect the queue, either you have to pay first or have to order. Never the same.

I ordered a cappuccino, it tasted EXACTLY the same as the Greggs cappuccino. Save your money and visit the Greggs instead for your coffee fokes.

Tried it almost by chance as an alternative to the usual Starbucks, it costs etc. for a breakfast... I must say pleasantly satisfied, the quality of the products is very high both in the pastries and bekery in general and in the coffees/cappuccinos etc. All handmade and you can feel it. I will definitely go back.

Visited close to closing time, limited options, the staff started to packed items. Average latte and fresh croissant, however, it was kinda overpriced.

Please avoid this place...I usually do not leave reviews but their hazelnut éclair was stale and the cream was too sweet. Absolutely appalled that I paid nearly 5 pounds for this. Overall, disgusting Avoid it like the plague and go to a better bakery like Laylas or the Connaught patisserie instead!

Cutlery dirty, staff no interest in serving while chewing gum excessively. Walked off when it was my time to pay. Asked for another spoon.because the one given was dirty and was given a dirty look.

100% nowhere near fresh. About 2 days old at least. o JustEat is clearly the Paul's destination for their food just before its trashed. No room here to give a proper review each product ordered. We binned 70% of the order.

dry as hell chicken baguette. Odd ball guy behind the counter telling me I ordered two teas. Over priced tart was nice at c. 6£.

The food was good. But this review is specifically for the staff working here. I could feel they behaved differently looking at me and my fiance’s color & race. The girl with the glasses spoke very rudely to us, also, she didn’t give us tissues, spoons etc. Very rude and racist behavior

Went to PAUL for tea and had the Fraisier Cake which is a cake with layers of light and airy Genoese sponge, cream and fresh strawberries. The Fraisier cake topped with pale green marzipan and fresh strawberries. Overall, it was ok but the GIANT fork was more memorable, it was about the same size as the cake!!!!

Good and strong coffee, if you want to have a French style dessert this is the right place

It’s a busy store but their service is appalling. There is no queueing system whatsoever and they were expecting you to queue outside the store when there is someone is literally choosing a cake. Stood there for ages and no one was bothered to ask whether I have been served. Very rude staff when I asked if they were going to serve me or not. The food isn’t that good anyways.

Waited at till to be served. Was eventually asked by tall man, no hair, "have you been served?" (No smile). I said no. He then looked at me with a look as if I were stupid and a face that said "go on then!'. I ordered, he got a coffee wrong but his very unapproachable manor meant i just got on with it. I then sat and watched him serve every customer with such annoyance. Smirking as if he was superior. Rolling his eyes. Moping about. He appears to be very pained by customers. This guy should not be near people. He needs a work from home job with a face like that.

Really good pastries. We ordered Dark Chocolate tart and ecklers.

Having eaten a salami and pickle baguette from Paul my jaw hurts (after having to chew hard on the stale bread) and all I can taste is butter (the sandwich used an excessive amount of butter). I always rated Paul because it looked fancy and was French but on closer inspection it’s mediocre and pretentious. For lunch save yourself some money and get a meal deal or go spend more money and actually get something edible.

The service is always short, and the macaroons are very tasty! 👍

Viennoiseries aren't up to standard (pas assez croustillant). Patisseries are just fine. As for service, I have had nice experiences in general when visiting different branches of PAUL around London. Staff at PAUL Canary Wharf, however, definitely need to be properly trained.

Delicious pastries, thoughtful employees, and excellent service. The man serving us was really attentive and provided us all the ingredients in the order to make sure we didn't come in contact with any allergens after I told him about the allergies in the family. His service was outstanding, despite the hectic situation, he remained composed, took his time explaining things, and never once displayed annoyance—instead, he had a wide smile on his face. He's a amazing addition to the company; I wish I had written down his name. A massive thanks to you.

There is a girl in there hygiene was bad she nearly put her face in my food breathing over it so closely it was bad And took so long to serve nearly 20min… Croissant was dry

Arrived 45 minutes before closing time and they can't heat up any sandwiches because they stopped the oven. Lovely service, definitely won't come back! I was expecting more from Paul Patisserie.

Love their famous chicken sandwich, and the pastries are great too! Only downside is the service. Staff members looked tired and indifferent for some reason. Been there three times and never received a warm service.

Pre-ordered a pistachio cake. Cake itself was pretty dry (tasted borderline stale), the pistachio flavour was very mild. Not a huge fan on the presentation either. For the price I paid was disappointing.

There may be staff issues but the coffee hot chocolate and cakes are simply the best I’ve ever had. The breads look amazing and the made up baguettes look v good too

Firstly they gave the incorrect cake to the driver in which when the driver arrived if I had not checked inside the bag and checked if the cake was mine I would have had someone else's cake. Furthermore in the cake the sheet specifying a different address and name was inside so this mistake is absolutely unacceptable and the workers are not checking the delivery addresses or cakes. Lastly I rang the company straight away and was told on the phone the cake would be delivered by 4pm. However at 4pm when I phoned again I was told it had JUST BEEN GIVEN TO THE DELIVERY DRIVER. THIS IS NOT FAIR! THIS IS NOT PROFESSIONAL! THIS IS NOT GOOD SERVICE AND THIS IS NOT HOW YOU KEEP CUSTOMERS TO ORDER GOODS FOR SPECIAL ANNUAL CELEBRATIONS! DISAPPOINTING!

Delightful French patisserie with a wonderful array of pastries to enjoy with a drink on site, or to go. They also do great tartlets and cakes (see birthday cake in pic). A personal favourite for the quality and consistency. Highly recommend it 😋

came here 4 a afternoon out with my son,& there was a lady infront of us the man serving didn’t give us eye contact but saw we was waiting as I’ve asked my boy wanted he wanted I’ve looked up and the man has served someone else although we was standing directly behind this other lady…. So I waited for him to come back & he then ask who was next and served another lady so I explained I was waiting and u have already served someone before us and he can see we was waiting. He never said sorry nothing it was if he was purposely not wanting to serve us. For me the other people looked quite posh and he didn’t want to serve us normal guys maybe our moneys not good enough…Or maybe my tall mixed race son made him feel uncomfortable but I’m not happy and will not go back as the cake was ok but nothing special for the money. To many lardy dar overpriced shops charging silly amounts for basic food….and yes I will be contacting head office as this is unacceptable and his attitude was not good

Visited Paul's Coffee Shop for a large cappuccino and was disappointed. The milk was overly frothy, resembling bubble bath, and served lukewarm. The coffee itself tasted watered down, lacking the rich espresso flavor expected in a cappuccino. Additionally, noticed the barista didn't clean the nozzle after steaming milk for various coffee orders, raising concerns about hygiene. Overall, the experience and the drink quality were disappointing. The staff are rude and unfriendly when entering and taking orders and the coffee shop itself is chaotic small and loud and I couldn’t wait to leave.

Ordered a birthday cake online for collection. Even though the shop was busy during lunch time, the service was efficient and a member of staff handed over my cake swiftly. Everything was easy and smooth.

Food amazing ruined by the rudeness of the staff. 5 members of the staff serving. None of them smiling. Guys come on! I do work in hospitality too and I understand the stress,the busy time and the annoying customer. But for the sake of a good atmosphere fake a smile !!! Lol. Never felt so uncomfortable

Great service as the shop called to let me know they had run out of something and replaced it with another item and also sent a gift. Much better than Pret who don’t bother and just don’t send the items!

Staff too busy chatting to each other to focus on the customer and such basic things as warming pastries and providing a knife Further, very very expensive. Costa an extra £1.20 per item to sit in and they don’t even provide mayo, ketchup or mustard.

Delicious selection of pastries, baguettes and cakes. Clean and well maintained eat in area. Special mention to Szef, he was incredibly attentive and friendly. His service was warm and hospitable. You can tell this branch has very high footfall so it was lovely to see his positive energy with regulars and tourists

I like Paul's sandwiches, but staff can be rude at this brunch. I ordered a sandwich with a smile and the person behind the bar started to stare at me without making a move. I ordered again, but he continued to start at me. In the end he said I wasn't following the right process so he went through it in detail: step 1 order; step 2 pay; step 3 take what you order. It was so awkward and felt I wanted to leave. I told everyone in my office not to go unless they want to be told off for not 'following the process'.

Terrible experience. The staff is not at all cooperative. Very rude staff making faces to the customers when asked be served in cups and not takeaway cups. After being asked for student discount they served Small size hot chocolate instead of Regular size hot chocolate. Paul management should look into this. Due to such lazy and arrogant employees Paul is losing its charm!!! They lost a premium customer!

We stopped by today for bfast and to celebrate a special occassion. The food on presentation looked inviting but was average. The baguettes were way too crispy our kids couldnt bite into it. The pastries ŵere different somewhat tough. The coffees were cold! The girl who served us was excellent. The person who was behind the counter who remarked he can toast the cakes when asked if the baquettes can be toasted was out of order! I wouldnt recommend this venue. Its not value for your money!

It’s overpriced just because it looks nice nothing special wouldn’t waste your monuy M&S have better croissants. I also bought a cake it was ok nothing mind blowing wouldn’t recommend it

Bakery is tasty. Coffee is horrible, lady who was doing coffees was very unwelcoming, she didn't clean basket filter and milk steamer. Coffee served boiling, twice. It's a shame in a coffee shop, not to know how to serve a proper coffee and knowledge of hygiene

Rude and unhelpful - we left without being served. After waiting patiently for a while, for no reason at all the staff started serving the customer behind us. They told us we had 'queued at the wrong end' though there was no sign and it was obvious we had been waiting some time. Useless

Paul Bakery offering freshly baked hand made bread, warm from the oven breakfast viennoiseries you can have with coffee, delicious fine pâtisserie, freshly prepared artisan sandwiches and salads, summer fruit tarts and sensational cake...They also serve French products, including breads, crêpes, sandwiches, macarons, soups, cakes, pastries, coffee, wine and beer.

One of my favorite locations but after the last visit I will be opting to go to the Jubilee place store. Grabbing pastries with bare hand after being at the till is not okay. Moreover throwing someone’s food into a bag after they ask that you grab another pastry using gloves or the readily available tongs is also not acceptable. If I could’ve rated this in the Paul app I would have left 0 stars for this visit.

This is not a quality bakery anymore. Their employees are rude and clueless when you ask something different from what is already prepared to sell. A couple of times I asked for a plain baguette which they used to sell before but now, they don't, a very basic element in any bakery, instead they sell industrialized already prepared sandwiches which the employees cannot modified or altered because they are there to sell only but not to do any bespoke modifications or sell a simple baguette. So this is not a French bakery anymore, it is a fast bakery money machine without quality. So if the employees do not do anything just replace them by robots.

The aubergine quiche was not that tasty 🥲 Cappuccino is alright . Not coming here again expensive and not that yummy

We've spent nearly over £40 for some slices of cakes we were giving wooden spoon. Not happy at all. Seriously the service needs to improve for good reviews.

Please provide more vegetarian options. Also the option of choosing a vegetarian 'too good to go' bag would be excellent.

Stale bread. Half of one sandwich was very, very soggy. Quality is unfortunately hit-and-miss here.

Had a flavorless tuna sandwich, when I asked for salt I was told that they didn't have any. I got some from Pret next door. I suggest you save your self the trip ans just head over to Pret. Service was adequate.

Have just been here to pick up some cakes. I am amazed how rude your staff are, three members of your staff stood in front of me made no attempt to serve me and when I asked them one of them they just smirked and didn't bother. You want to train your staff better, it was a 5 minute job for them, disgusting customer service

Overpriced af! Bought the below “chicken” sandwich for £ 5.25 (excluding tax)! Where is the filling?!?!? Do not recommend. Try the PRET next door!

Delicious and nice presented piece of cake. Though I cannot say the choice of food here is wide or there is something special in this place. It is good for a take away order, as dine in is £1 more but the place itself does not look clean.

Busy branch located in the middle of the mall. Think pastries, cakes, breads and loads more plus drinks. There is seating too. There are so many staff but I am not sure why! Most were standing around chatting. Service was pleasant but could be friendlier. The fougasse olives was nice as a simple late lunch or snack. Reasonably priced.

I had the worst Chai latte I've ever had here the other day. I don't even know how it's possible to mess up a Chai latte so badly, and for 4 pounds price I was even more unimpressed about the taste. I can't imagine how the other drinks are, but I won't be trying them. The food here is really good though I will be honest about that. Not much of an atmosphere at this location because it is in the middle of a busy shopping mall.

I highly recommend Paul’s cafe Canary Wharf for the excellent food and coffee. I am a regular customer and my experience has been very good every time. The staff are all very kind and welcoming. I would like to give a special thank you to Sebastian the Barrista. He is very professional and kind and make the most perfect coffee. So if you are looking for good quality and fantastic atmosphere any time of the day, then visit this cafe.

Staff seem to be always busy with their mobile phones, rather than customers.

Generally, I feel like Paul’s in London lack quality compared to France/rest of Europe chains. In the Canary Wharf branch in particular I’ve had the least pleasant experience. Went there on a morning and the pastries/sandwiches looked (and tasted) like they were leftovers from the previous day. I felt really disappointed as generally I love Paul’s baked goods and sandwiches. Also, the restaurant was quite dirty for such an early morning hour.

Seems that they have stopped using butter in the baguettes using some substitute spread instead that makes the bread wet.

Clean little cafe. Éclairs are amazing
