We visited this upmarket restaurant to celebrate my wife's birthday. All was good until we discovered a hair in a desert. I n fairness they did reduce the bill by the cost of the ice cream.

Girlfriend booked for my 30th, went for a Sunday dinner and was staying at the hotel on site. The day was already ruined before we even got the room, tiny dinner for £26? Ordered extras that we didn’t receive, food went cold waiting for our dinner to arrive, no roasties or gravy even arrived. So I finally tucked into my minuscule, freezing, dry Sunday dinner, not great and won’t be returning.

Slow service- Had to chase up twice on 2 different courses. Poor service- Wrong condiments given when asked for, & missing cutlery (no spoon given for soup). Limited staff- A few times, for a good 5-10min there was no one even in the restaurant section. Atmosphere- Quite noisy at times. Generic pop music. Overpriced- £75 per head for x3 courses is quite expensive. It's basically £30 for Starter / Dessert, and a £45 Main course, and that's before any drinks bill. Not really worth it with only x4 mains on the menu & isn't located in a city centre. Food- Starter / Desserts were good, but the Mains weren't anything special. I would expect a more creative Mains menu for the price. Overall- Unfortunately not worth the Cost v Value.

What a find! Beautiful location, Christmas lights adorned the outside, highland theme on the inside. Staff in tartan waistcoats were outstanding.courteous at all times. Breakfast was superb, best porridge ever with raw honey and berry compote. As a pescatarian, chose fish for my courses. Monkfish, Christmas Eve, Halibut Christmas lunch, succulent . Highly recommend. Dog friendly

As a family, we've been to the Red Lion restaurant a few times, mostly for special occasions. It's an amazing location, the service is outstanding, the decor and ambience feels luxurious while still relaxed. The staff helpful, friendly and attentive without being intrusive. The Christmas decorations were amazing. The food was exquisite and pricey but worth it. While there are a couple of vegetarian dishes on the menu, it would be nice if there were some choices for vegetarians, but that didn't detract from the evening. Once again, we've had a wonderful evening. Thank you.

I had an amazing lunch with my father here. We have eaten at Peak Edge on multiple occasions and it never fails to disappoint. The service was excellent, the staff here really are a credit. The food is absolutely superb. Beautiful setting and spotlessly clean, this place really is a treat!

This was a truly magical Christmas weekend at the Peak Edge Hotel. The whole experience of a quality weekend away with some friends, a lovely visit to Chatsworth, all whilst soaking up a christmassy atmosphere with elegant and tasty meals thoughtfully served, drinks carefully administered, before falling comfortably into bed. Thank You All and a Happy New Year !

Great stay in a beautiful location. We are lucky as the hotel is only a few miles from our home so we can visit regularly for breakfast, lunch, and dinner as well as staying over on special occasions. It is our "go-to" place for super food and service!

The venue was nice, went for a wedding reception. However I ordered a disaronno, they poured from a disaronno bottle, but it certainly wasn't a disaronno that I got, it was a cheap amaretto. For £13 for a double disaronno and coca cola, you at least expect genuine disaronno to be served and not cheap amaretto. Of course they will dispute this in their reply, but as someone who drinks disaronno and not much else, I can tell you for a fact that it was a cheap amaretto. They taste similar, but not the same. This raises the question, if they're doing this with disaronno, what else?

We stayed at the Peak Edge Hotel with a group of friends in a party of eight. It was without doubt the nicest place I have stayed at in a very long time. The interiors are welcoming and warm, the decor is tasteful and well done. The 4 log fires are (on) and tended throughout the day and provide secluded areas ideal for groups and families travelling together. Rooms are modern, well equipped and spotless, we had a (unrequested) upgrade to the feature rooms which was appreciated by all. Food was excellent served in the light and airy Red Lion Restaurant, good quality and generous portions. Fabulous full breakfast. This hotel is family run and it shows. The staff were amazing to a man (and lady). The impression is that they enjoy their jobs and that its a happy place to work. They are a credit to the management. Superb doesn't do it justice!

It’s taken me a few weeks to do this review as every time I try to write it, I get emotional. Getting married at Peak Edge was just phenomenal! From the second we walked into the beautifully decorated reception area on our first visit, that smells absolutely gorgeous by the way, we knew that we were going to have our wedding there. We found Peak Edge by accident after initially booking a show round at Casa Hotel. But due to a mixup we’d actually booked an appointment at Peak Edge. We went along not really expecting anything but were wowed by the venue from the start. It’s stunning! The grounds, the Oak Room, the Red Lion Restaurant, everything is just stunning. We then booked an appointment with Laura. As soon as we met her, we knew we were in fabulous hands! Laura was absolutely amazing from the initial meeting, to communication throughout the process and then the fantastic organisation on the day. Everything went totally without a hitch. I am a bit of a control freak myself and like to organise things but I totally relented responsibility to Laura and the other amazing staff and can honestly say that we are totally blown away. Every member of staff was so friendly and welcoming and made us feel so special. Everything about our wedding day was perfect. The amazing room that we got ready in, the fantastic staff, the amazing food and drink. Even the weather was just perfection. I cannot recommend booking your wedding here enough if you’re thinking about it. It just has a real special feel to it and we’ve vowed to make sure we celebrate every year by returning to Peak Edge for our anniversary. Thank you so much ❤️

A friend had paid for us to have an afternoon tea at Peak Edge Hotel. It was rather disappointing. The staff were friendly but not at all attentive - no checks to see if the food was ok or if were wanted more drink. The food was nice - except the scones which were so dry they were more like biscuits. The kitchens were busy with weddings so probably not that interested in a small number of people having afternoon tea. Very, very expensive for what we got.

Food was great, while the service was very very slow. It took half an hour to prepare our dishes that were on their lunch set menu (We assumed the food on the set menu should be served quicker), even though that was not peak hours (2pm ish) and not many people in the restaurant.

We went to celebrate our fur baby’s birthday and we were made to feel very welcome upon our arrival by Josh, at the reception , he was charming, helpful and full of useful information. We stayed with our pet baby dog , who was spoilt by staff, they had a card waiting for her and it was such a lovely gesture , we loved the dog friendly bar, the grounds and local walks. Our room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. All the staff in the bar/restaurant were very attentive and polite. This is one of our favourite hotels to return in the future. We would highly recommend Peak Edge Hotel.

Here for our anniversary and what a lovely evening we've had. The meal at the restaurant was superb and a minor issue we had was resolved expediently and without any fuss. Lovely little touches such as a card on our table congratulating us was great. I'd love to recommend a course but all 5 we had were delicious. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Peak Edge Hotel and Red Lion Restaurant, Darley Road, Chesterfield, United Kingdom, S45 0LW ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We decided to celebrate my wife's birthday at the Red Lion Restaurant and what a delightful experience it was! Right from the get-go, the staff were nothing short of wonderful, providing attentive and helpful service throughout our visit. They even went the extra mile to write a birthday card for my wife, which was a lovely touch. The starters were absolutely delicious, setting the stage for an exciting meal. However, when it came to the mains, we encountered a slight hiccup as the restaurant had run out of potatoes for mash. But, not to worry, the staff were quick to offer some tasty alternatives, ensuring our dining experience remained uninterrupted. Admittedly, we found the food a tad too salty for our liking, but overall, it was still very enjoyable. The view from the restaurant added to the charm of our evening, making it even more special. In summary, despite a few minor issues, the outstanding service and the beautiful setting of the Red Lion Restaurant made my wife's birthday celebration memorable. We wholeheartedly give it 5 stars and look forward to returning in the future.
