At last, I've found a decent chippy near my home. It was recommended by a neighbour and has certainly lived up to my expectations, so I'll be back. Located on the edge of Bury with easy parking outside this spotlessly clean chippy is brilliant. They serve the traditional range of fare that you used to find at all chippies back in the day, including my fave, rock eel. Thankfully not a kebab in sight! With everything cooked to order there's a small wait but well worth it. I truly can't find fault with this plaice ;) Highly recommended!!

It's the second time the chips weren't as good as usual, not sure if it's just the potatoes or how they are cooked but left most of them and no one else at home wanted them either which is usual.

As always Peyton Plaice delivered delicious hot fish and chips to an evening event. Spot on time order correct and all our guests commented on how superb the fish was. Cannot thank these guys enough

The food was lovely, portions good too. A variety of size options for chips was great. My only gripe is with the experience. A young lady, clearly new to the job was getting a hard time from the woman in the shop. She had trouble ringing up the seating fee on the till and inadvertently forgotten to charge another couple for "sitting in" the restaurant. The other woman, came through, inspecting the till receipts in front of everyone and gave her a hard time over it. The girl could have asked for help but given the attitude and atmosphere, I can see why she didn't. When woman pointed this out to the customers, she herself had till issues ringing it up and didn't apologise to the young girl or the customers. A real bad attitude. Clearly she was very irritated, as this was transpired towards customers, asking questions with a very curt, rude way. Perhaps the training needs to be a bit more supportive and comprehensive and less mistakes would happen, but given that the girl is clearly a new employee you have to expect mistakes to be made in order for her to learn from them. An attitude adjustment is needed here, I felt sorry for the girl and the lady just made everyone feel uncomfortable and ultimately came across very unprofessional. This should have been handled differently.

The service was one of a kind- nothing is too much to ask. Fish and chips were fresh and tasted superb. There is a huge variety of fish to choose from as well. Best chippy in Bury!

Really well organised with regards to the Covid situation. I’ve had a few takeaways from here during the lock down (and out of it). It’s so well arranged, I phone order ahead, they either have it ready or I check in then wait outside for a short time if it’s not quite done when I get there and they call me back in. Always really tasty and well cooked. Couldn’t ask for more.

Phoned through an order. When I arrived the order had not been noted down, so was not ready. Waste of time.

Best fish and chip ship in bury! Always very fresh and great portion sizes. Sometimes a bit of a queue but it's worth the wait. I guess I'm not the only one that knows about this spot. Definitely worth a visit

We used Peyton Plaice for their delivery services to supply food for 30 people. The service and food was excellent. Mary accommodated our every need. Right from organising the large order to the delivery of it. And the best thing was the food was delicious, large portions (too big for some to eat!) and also piping hot, although we were some distance from them. I would highly recommend using them.

For a change the shop was empty so I had to wait about 10 minutes and a very worthwhile wait it was! Everything was prepared fresh and was absolutely delicious. The staff are always so friendly as well.

This was our local fish & chip shop so we've come here many times whilst we've lived in Bury. The fish tastes fresh with nice batter. LOVE the battered sausages - delicious! Chips sometimes a little soggy but mostly nice. Service is polite, prompt and friendly.

Polite and speedy service, does everything you expect a fish and chip shop to do. Very good value for money and great to support a local business rather than a national chain!

I waited half hour to get 2 portions of large chips looked more like a small portion to me and after I took out all the manky ones there was hardly nothing left, also asked for 2 lots of mushy peas and was given curry sauce, cost me £10 what a con, I rang them up and they said there was nothing they can do just give me some mushy peas when I'm in nxt, won't be visiting there again worst chip shop ever.

Good quality old fashioned fish and chips. Regularly pop in an eat in. As with most chippies it gets crowded from time to time but worth trying out.

Lovely fish and chips. The only downside other then chips is that you have to wait a longtime as the food is cooked to order so be prepared for a long wait.

Rare find - fish and chips that taste like they are supposed to. Light crispy batter, truly fresh, quality fish, cooked to perfection. Chips golden. Service kind and friendly. Specialty: large, cooked to order fish. Take away only. Worth travelling for.

Very rude landlord not at all sympathetic to an autistic young adult whom had never been in a pub before wasn’t sure what he was doing, was told to leave as he didn’t speak to the landlord on entry and didn’t order a drink straight away he was finding his bearings as being autistic was in a very unfirmiliar atmosphere

Went for our annual work Christmas Dinner. Given a welcome drink of prosecco or elderflower, as the non-alcoholic option on arrival. The elderflower was scarcely present, unfortunately there was little difference between it and lukewarm water. Seemed to take an age to be taken through to the dinning hall, despite apparently needing to be at the venue for 6.30. There was no option to open a bar tab - at the bar which had no coke, no lime cordial, no white tequila, only one white wine - so it was complete chaos trying to organise buying the drinks! Eventually taken through to a very nicely laid out dinning hall and seated. Those who wanted another drink before our meal had to go back upstairs, after finding me to come and pay for it. Very inconvenient. The meal started to come out after 8pm - everyone was really hungry. The starter choice was a fig tart, or prawn cocktail. The prawn cocktail was absolutely miniscule - 3 prawns in a little sauce on a little lettuce leaf, it's a good job there was a small bread roll at each place setting! A good 30 minutes after rhe starter had been cleared the main came out - turkey (which was cooked nicely) 3 tiny new potatoes (no roast potatoes) a couple of sprouts, carrots and parsnips, with gravy. A very very disappointing 'turkey roast' without roast potatoes or stuffing. Dessert was either Christmas pudding or raspberry and lemon trifle, which consisted of 3 squares of soggy jellied sponge, some green dots and a spot of custard covered with a squirt of cream. In no way did it resemble a trifle. Even getting a tea or coffee was not possible until the station was 'opened' thought there was no indication whatsoever that it was closed until 9.30! When a member of staff was asked we were told that the doors are closed and nobody should be out there trying to get hot drinks until it was announced as open. All in all a very disappointing meal served by mainly surly servers. The evening lacked any kind of Christmas feel about it from start to finish. Won't be going back or recommending

Was given a £50.00 token for my birthday. Booked and went today. Dressed smartly. Parked in car park which was full of puddles and ended up entering the hotel with muddy boots and trousers. Felt embarrassed but needn't have worried. Receptionist was busy on the phone so found our own way to restaurant. We both ordered beef. Literally couldn't cut it, the potatoes were also tough (reheated?). The waitress asked us if everything was ok and I pointed out the beef and potatoes. She offered us a steak knife which we took. I gave up with my beef and potatoes my husband valiantly carried on. The puddings were good. The hotel had the vibe of a hostel, the clientele wondering around in jeans, wellies and trainers, lots of children running around (I was told later on that this was a family hotel), we had people with stocking feet, wellies and dressing gowns in the restaurant. The staff were great but the food was not. When we received the bill we saw a discount of £6.00 on it, I asked what this was for and apparently this was supposed to cover the meal I couldn't eat.
