Pizza Express in Kingston upon Thames

In kingston PE. Lovely waitress called Saayeh was very nice and welcoming to me. All the staff here are incredibly friendly.

First visit to this PE last night, felt like it was back to its roots (just missing the Gerbera’s) in a lovely building and great service (by Prashil)

We arrived at 7pm having booked a table. It took 45 minutes for any food arrived and then it was the starter and main course together. There was only one waiter serving the upstairs area and there was a party of 20 who had only just got their starters when we left. Food was good but service was very poor will use the Rotunda restaurant in future.

Me and my friend often go to pizza express. It was fine until the most recent time, when they charged us double the amount. When we went back, they lied to us and said that they did not charge us double, and no money had been taken out of her account, which was obviously a lie as we could see the money had been taken out of both of our accounts. It’s sad to see how companies take advantage of and exploit teenagers and children because we are an ‘easier target’.

Our food took more than 45 mins to arrive while all the time we could see take out orders being prepared and collected. Eventually the waitress came over and explained the kitchen was struggling to cope under the demand for phone orders so food for customers eating in would be delayed. I mean honestly - this is not a good look pizza express!?

I've been coming to this restaurant for years and years and it's always been very good. But now their emphasis seems to be mainly on takeaway pizza, to the detriment of those eating there. The restaurant was noisy and the service was very slow. The food and drink when it arrived was fine but I won't be rushing back as it was not a pleasant dining experience. We were going to the Rose theatre afterwards so our time was limited. But in the old PX this would not have been a problem. perhaps they need to concentrate on diners more and less on take aways being picked up by delivery drivers?

This is without doubt the worst pizza express I’ve ever been to! We ordered four pizza’s and a children’s portion of pasta and tomato sauce ,all the pizzas were horribly greasy something I’ve never had at pizza express,my son’s pasta with tomato sauce was burnt! I mean how do you burn pasta.No one finished their meal it was that bad ,service was shocking.I will never go to a pizza express again.

We’ve missed Pizza Express Portsmouth road and so pleased to go back. First day open and the food (dough balls, Fiorentina and Margarita Bufala) were perfect and hot. The waitress was friendly and attentive and overall a pleasant experience. (PS quite a number of reviews on this page are clearly referring to the Kingston Rotunda branch which is indeed rather soulless and without the charm of the Portsmouth Road branch).

For pizza it is a good restaurant. They did not have avocado for topping, which is the only downside to my visit.

Terrible service, food cold and staff really rude to my 15year old daughter and her 2 friends! Will not return to this restaurant. They are 3 very polite young ladies and it’s completely Unnecessary

After waiting over an hour for simple Doughball starter that was cold waited another 35min before having to ask where our mains where was brought straight away cold children’s meals and then waiting again for the remaining meals to arrive. Over a very poor service an not so busy night

As I came here with my friends I received poor service from the staff, bieng rude as I asked if they have chips and ketchup, as I received my pizza it arrived cold and didn't fill me up also the staff not checking up on us to see if everything was okay I don't think this is worth your time if I'm honest

We needed a quick lunch in between the gym and going to the cinema so staying in the rotunda was obvious.I always compare places to Cote,our restaurant of choice.Pizza express loses to Cote on room,atmospere,food ,price and service.The staff look bored and a bit scruffy,the food is average at best and fifteen to eighteen pounds for a pizza is more than the whole set meal at Cote.I don't know how much notice the owners need that we will vote with our feet and not go there again.

Always enjoyed pizza express however visited last night v disappointed! Practically empty for Friday night . No atmosphere food grossly over priced and not up to previous standards ! Won't be going again. Time for you to go pizza express!

Terrible Service, waited for 35 mins for the food. When we complained they said as we had Ordered starters hence they will start making the main after they serve the starters.

I used to go to this branch 20 odd years ago. The menu has changed but all is well. The diavolo pizza is very hot - one for chilli lovers. Nice montepulciano. Lovely waitress. Boring side salad. All in all a great meal. Prices are getting silly, after all the ingredients must be only a couple of £s. When will they bring back the Neptune pizza!!

This restaurant is perfect for a lunch. We used set menu code. We got starter, main and desert for 13.95 £. Food was delicious. What about service? Was wonderful. Definitely this restaurant is my favourite.

Popped in here for a takeaway. It was busy but the minute I walked in I was spotted and acknowledged. Pizza came very quick. Was looked after by Jessica. She is a fantastic and welcoming host!! This place is one of my favourites!!

The waiter Dimi was really nice and helpful. He helped us chose the pizzas and we really loved them! The food was delicious as well as the service as everything arrived on time! Everything could not be better as we received a birthday gift two glasses of Prosecco from the lovely Jessica ( the manager)!

We booked to eat here as my relatives who live in Kingston - upon - Thames have eaten here many times have always enjoyed it, we had a lovely window seat looking out onto the road and we could also see a little of the river. the food was very good and hot when served (which sometimes is not the case) and very tasty. The service was faultless. I am glad we book to go early as it soon filled up.

We popped in for a quick meal after a busy day’s shopping in Kingston. The food was very tasty but unfortunately the female Staff were rather surly verging on unfriendly which tainted the occasion-will look out for improvement next time I visit-

I used to think that Pizza Express was an exception to the rule that chain restaurants serve dull food in antiseptic surroundings - but on the basis of my recent visit to this branch I may need to revise that opinion.

Staff really friendly and helpful, pizza and salads really tasty and good value. Would definitely revisit.

The service was ridiculously slow, they were very clearly understaffed. We were sat for 15 minutes before anyone came over to take a drink order.

We took 6 children for a birthday treat to this branch. We hadn’t booked a party but the staff, particularly our waitress, went out of their way to make the experience special. They served a cake that we had brought with us and made the effort to present it to my daughter and sing Happy Birthday. Everything arrived quickly and nothing was too much trouble. It was much appreciated.

Have visited many Pizza Express branches in the past and have always enjoyed their meals.

This is one of the best/better locations they went above and beyond to help with making former menu choices great surroundings and service

We went there for a quick dinner. We had gluten free pizza and salads. Was very quiet that evening, the staff was friendly and the food was just on time. Not bad for GF we'll be back.

I have been going to Pizza Express since about 1978 when I was working in Soho Square so have had my fair share of pizzas over the years.

Took the children here as you can't really go wrong with a Pizza Express. How wrong was I??! Terrible service, dirty glasses and the pizza didn't taste great either. A very disappointing visit.

I got served the wrong dish, they didn’t offer to take it back and bring the right one (offered me an additional ingredient, which I refused since If I wanted something else I’d rather get what I ordered in the first place).

Very disappointing. Normally reliable for a great pizza and great service but our recent visit was unfriendly and the restaurant was dirty.

Visited again recently to see if our visit last month was a one off ( we had asked to take away the remaining part of a pizza and they chucked the crusts into the box as well ! ) Won't be going back pizza was poor and salad limp. I would rather spend my cash elsewhere.

I would not recommend this place to anybody. Extremely expensive for the food they serve which is very poor quality.

The manager took huge objection to the fact that we declined the first table he offered and asked to sit somewhere away from the window. And it only went downhill from there. We had a voucher which seemed to cause yet further confusion while the server went "to find out" whether or not it was valid, even though the T&C;'s were clearly stated on the voucher.

Most Pizza Express restaurants have been good and this is no exception. Very good price using vouchers we had. Friendly staff. Good service and nice food. Can't complain for a chain restaurant :)

In here on a quiet Tuesday and got attentive service and the best Fiorentina I have had across many Pizza Expresses. Good depth base, lots of filling and perfect egg.

Here on a school holiday lunch with my daughter and there is one server to nearly eight tables. Too many families which is expected on school holidays. Server is Too rude to even meet the eye when I am staring at her for attention. Great food but took too long to arrive!!! Disappointed with the service and prefer the Richmond branch so much more.

Nothing surprising but steady and consistent. Friendly staff and a lovely building. An easy walk from the river.

Took my daughter here as she recommended it.To say we where both shocked and disappointed is some what of an understatement.We arrived about 19.30 and it was fairy quiet , most people already eating . We where shown to our table and asked if we would like any drinks .We ordered our drinks and waited .....and waited . More people arrived who where promptly served whilst my daughter and I continued to wait . No sign of our waitress or come to that any waitresses. It was only when I presume the manageress went past and I made a point of stopping her . Did we get our order taken The actual food was poor and not up to the usual standards you would expect from Pizza Express. All in all it was a big disappointment and we won't be going there again .

We took the family here for lunch over the weekend...ok it was average busy, several families with young children (plenty of food strewn over the floor!) Sadly though it was nothing special and took 40 mins for our food to be delivered to the table. Our order was left in our view for quite a few minutes before it was served to us.Not cheap by any means for simple fare, don't think we will be returning!

I have been going to this branch since 1981. For the first time, I was disappointed since the Tomato Purée appears changed and of poor quality. The Pizza was expensive at £14.25 and the prices have gone up more than 20 percent in the last 2 years. Unless, they bring back the original Tomato Purée, I will never go there again.

It's a sad shame, I loved pizza express brings back memories as a kid of my dad taking me to the one in blackheath in the late 80's, the food was always good.But now it's all about money the service is shocking.There is none.Came Thursday evening around 6pm thought we would go as a treat use my taste card so it's cheap as chips.We stood by the host station which a waiter there who ignored us whilst he was staring at the computer I guess,We said hello table for two please.We were told to hold on, then a girl came and we asked her for a table of two. We had a chat then decided to go elsewhere.AL Forno is next door which we should of just gone to in the first place as I love it there.The place was packed as we walked in fabio was on the door who greeted us with a warm welcome and remembered me from the last time I came.They managed to squeeze us in even though we didn't have a reservation.Service was great along with the food.£50 missed out on by pizza express.I do love the pizzas at pizza express but something needs to change with the service to convince me too go back.

I ordered take away via Deliveroo and if you've used this you'll see the menu on Deliveroo is limited compared to the menu on Pizza Express.I wasn't able to get my favourite roasted tomatoes as a starter as they weren't on the menu.Immediately after ordering, I called Pizza Express and asked them if it was possible to add the roasted tomatoes on to my order and I'd pay the delivery driver in cash - they said no. Fair enough.However, when my order arrived, I saw I had been sent the roasted tomatoes anyway - free of charge! Lovely!Thanks so much.

Just back from Pizza Express in Kingston, this one is by the Thames not in the cinema complex.Used the very easy app to book a table online.Great welcome and taken straight to our table for 5.Every thing went smoothly and the staff excellent, food was the usual high standard good quality and prompt.We had 2 starters, five pizzas and 4 desserts with coffee, which came to around £136, but with a discount ended up £108.Only 4 stars because alcohol is a bit expensive.Tony's TipsSign up on their web site for offers, we had 30% off the meal and next time we go a free bottle of wine.There is a multi story car park next door You can follow me on Twitter tonyd9999

Not all Pizza Expresses' are the same, and this Pizza Express at 41 High Street, Kent, Kingston Upon Thames is consistently the finest of any Pizza Express where I've have the pleasure to eat. Last night was no exception! Excellent Calabrese pizza, and friendly helpful efficient staff. I'd go so far to say that last night's pizza was amongst the best I've had anywhere in the world!Yes I will be back when I'm back in this part of the world, and highly recommend it!Thank you!!

Whilst reviewing restaurant chains it's important to consider the cuisine offered and value for money that they offer. Using a 2 for 1 voucher I popped in for a quick lunch. Lovely venue, friendly staff, busy restaurant. Everything which points to a successful restaurant. I ordered a Le Reine pizza which came quickly, very flavoursome and up to the same standards of other pizza express restaurants I have visited. And at only £5.50 for lunch, excellent value. We were given more 2 for 1 vouchers after our meal to use another time.

We eat at Pizza Express regularly as a family, but hadn't been to this branch before. We chose it as we were seeing a show afterwards at the nearby Rose Theatre, which is just a few minutes' walk away.We arrived at about 12.30 on a sunny Sunday, so understandably it was fairly empty at this time; however it did soon fill up. We were promptly greeted and allowed to sit wherever we liked, and as it was warm we found a table at the far end near an open door. There also appear to be some tables outside but we didn't see anyone choose to sit there.The inside has lots of character - it seems to be in a Tudor building, with lots of exposed beams, plus some more modern areas. There is an interesting theme to the artwork, among which are old photos of creatures in motion, such as lions and cheetahs, which were explained by a notice saying they were chosen in homage to the work of Eadweard Muybridge, a pioneering 19th century photographer. I had never heard of him before but have just looked him up on Wikipedia and learned a lot - he grew up a few doors along from the restaurant, it seems!The food was as excellent as in any of our other Pizza Express branches. Our order was taken swiftly and efficiently, and the food and drinks came within an ideal time frame. Our waiter, who I believe was called Arron, from our receipt, was very efficient and polite, and we never felt that we were neglected. His timing in taking our orders, checking back on us a few times, and sorting out our bill, was spot on. Thank you!It is one of those restaurants that looks small from the outside, but is actually vast inside. The ground floor has much more space than you can see from the windows of this old building, and when I popped upstairs for the loos, I also found that there is a huge, spacious upper floor of tables too, which had no need of being used on this Sunday lunchtime but are perhaps used on busy evenings.On the only negative note, by the time we left, the tables around us had filled up and it did seem then that we were all quite close together, so this might not be so ideal for people visiting at busier times. We enjoyed our visit and would certainly return.

We decided to go here before seeing the Ad Fab film and on arrival we were shown to our table! The Area Manager was sat on the table next to us possibly recruiting! We ordered drinks and our food by a very welcoming waiter! Just before the starter arrived the table near to us complained about their food, which did not give me confidence our food would be good! How wrong I was! The food was fantastic starter, main and dessert and we did have a voucher which made a little more affordable. It was a great restaurant and some great original features and we will be back! Thank you for a very enjoyable evening.

Fast service, really nice chilled waiter. Courses came straight after each other which was a bit off putting as a break was needed for digestion (as in literally the pizza came before the garlic bread plate was taken away) but all in all very nice meal!

Just had dinner in the pizza express and from phoning through for booking a reservation to arriving to food being served and leaving the team were lovely. Attentive to the children and even got cheeky with the adults - They couldn't do any more for us. The food was great, arrived within 10 minutes. Hot and fresh.

I came here at the beginning or March. I booked a table online and called the next day to let them know that it was my mum's birthday so if they could please put a balloon or something nice for decoration.When we got there, we were served by a very nice greek guy (thank you for helping us making this bday especial). The table had two amazing balloons and everything was perfect. The waiter brought the cake we brought without my mum realising or anything which was amazing. The service itself was also very good and not to forget, the good was delicious!. I have come to various pizza express and the service is usually standard-good but this time it was very good. We also share some of our cake with the staff.The only reason why I do not give you guys 5 stars is because in the restaurant where I work, on top of everything, we usually give a complementary drink for the table when is someone's bday so my expectations were quite high. You guys definitely meet all my expectations but did not exceed them.Thank you for the good time though!

We visited this restaurant for a quick meal before going to the Rose theatre. Our waiter was very pleasant and efficient. The pizzas were lovely and the restaurant had a nice ambience. We have sometimes in other branches had very slow service which is frustrating when you have a show to get to. But the timing here was just right. An excellent start to our evening.

Great place for a pre-theatre meal, and meeting friends. Its a really nice building, and the service was excellent. Good choice of wines too.

We arrived at 12 noon on a Sunday and were asked if we'd booked - 4 adults plus a toddler. We hadn't but they had one table left. They were very busy - we were in no hurry. The thing that surprised is is just how rude potential guests were when they found out they were fully booked. we felt truly sorry for the manager! But, regardless of how busy they were our food was exceptional. it was hot, tasty and well prepared. We did three courses! I had the ginger beer which was also very nice, the ladies drank the Pino which they thought rather tasty. Would highly recommend this and well done to the staff for keeping their cool under great pressure.

Having been to Pizza Express a gazillion times, this was my first visit to the one in Kingston and I won't be returning. The service was truly awful. Our waiter took our order and then never reappeared. When I chased another waiter for our starters I was told they'd be coming 'in just a minute'. About 10 minutes later the mains turned up and this, different waiter expressed surprise that the starters hadn't turned up. Meanwhile the family at the next table were complaining about food appearing on the bill that had never arrived, and the lack of any staff to mention this to at the time. The service at the Pizza Express in Surbiton is excellent, so this one must be a blip in the franchise.

I visited this place with my wife for a meal. The pizza I ordered was the most expensive, but sounded delicious, unfortunately the thing that arrived was a soggy mess, there wasn't much topping to it and it was incredibly salty and wet. The bill arrived with 2 additional items added to it, increasing the cost by £15 pounds. We didn't get an apology and were treated like we were the ones trying to rip them off. We did find that the staff's level of spoken English was quite poor and it was hard trying to get them to understand our issues. I don't think we will return.

Ate here with friends for lunch and it was an excellent choice - very calm and peaceful and you could chat easily.Relaxed environment very close to the river.

Came out for an evening with friends for a catch up over dinner and drinks. We booked a table and we were seated efficiently. We ordered drinks but I had to ask for the glasses to be changed as they were filthy. The cutlery was also filthy. The food was fine although a longer gap between courses would have been appreciated- it's not like it was busy and they needed to turn tables quickly.

Waiting time was a little bit too long, but as always Romana and Classic Pizza very good; very nice Trebbiano red wine; and soft and warm bread, but sadly no home made.There were a promotion last Sunday of two courses about £11.50, but it is cheaper if it use discount cards such a student, travel, transport, or just go to http://local.amazon.co.uk/ for better discounts and promotions.

We eat at many Pizza Expresses with the Grandchildren, however this Pizza Express is a cut above the others. More attention to detail, better trained servers, food just tastes better! Whenever I'm in the area I make it a point to eat here. My favorite pizza is the Calabrese!

Pizza Express is generally a good chain, however, this branch on the High Street appears to go the extra mile. A charming building and upstairs has beautifully exposed beams adding to the charm. The food is of a good standard and the staff are all very friendly and attentive. A brilliant location for Pizza making parties which we had recently and I would highly recommend this branch over the Rotunda branch any day.

For years I've been going to Pizza Express when I'm in the UK and I always have the American Hot with Onions and Egg Lightly Beaten and poured over it! The onions and egg are additional items and it's always best to have it on the Romana base. One other thing don't miss out on the garlic and chilli oils which are available.If I had to recommend somewhere to get a pizza in England I would definitely recommend this chain it's extremely consistent we're good selection of wines and beers and almost everything is pretty much to my liking. The other pizza worth trying is the one which my partner always has the Diavalo which is pretty similar to the one I have but with the addition of ground beef as I recall.

Pizza express in kingston is located opposite the river and a few minutes walk from the main shopping area.it is a small restaurant with friendly staff. good food will def go back .

I go here with a friend every few months for a Florientina pizza and a glass of cold white wine. The food is consistently great, the quality never varies. Generally the service is excellent. We try to avoid times when there are large families with noisy children as evidently this restaurant is popular with them. The wine is always very cold, not something we find in some other restaurants and it's good quality. They often have offers on and if you are regular you get a good one for your birthday if you are registered with them.

I visited this Pizza Express yesterday. The place looked as if a bomb had it - I think families had been there with children, so we sat and waited for 5 minutes for tables to be cleared. Once we were seated, we then waited at least 10 minutes for someone to take our order. He then brought the wrong size bottle of water and forgot to bring the starter. This meant we hadn't finished the starter when the pizzas arrived. Shame, because the pizzas were very nice. A pleasant enough meal let down by poor service

Had a lunchtime meal here with my Mum and my daughter, we arrived a little early for our booking but were able to be seated anyway. The restaurant was clean and the staff were efficient, though not outstanding. The food was good and came up quite quickly.I wouldn't have wanted to be seated in the lobby area as it looked a little remote and people were queuing to get in by there.

Pizza Express hosted our work's Christmas party on Friday night and it was great. Katerina and the team were very accommodating, service was friendly and attentive and we weren't rushed at any point. Food was served in a timely manner, all 20 dishes for each course arrived within moments of each other so no one in the group was left waiting at at all. The restaurant looks fresh and clean after it's recent refurb, the quality of the food was what you would expect from Pizza Express and we all felt it was excellent value for money.

We were looking for a children friendly restaurant for dinner and spotted that this had just re-opened. The refit looks good and there is more space especially if you have a buggy. The new menu was great and food was was exactly what you'd expect. I had pizza and the base was perfect. The staff were friendly and were great with the kids. On the list for next time - worth a visit.

I don't think I have ever been disappointed by pizza express! The food is consistently good. However the amount of dough balls seems to drop with every order , but the quality remains high.Atmosphere is consistently good and staff well trained. A safe place to eat every time.

Our family loves this restaurant. The upstairs seating area in particular has a great atmosphere. It's well located with ample parking nearby and the service and food is always fantastic. They cater very well for kids which means we get to enjoy our meal too! We like to eat and then take a walk along the river towpath.

Another enjoyable meal - the aubergine and risotto comes highly recommended! Our waiter was brilliant, customer service at it's very best.

I've been eating in this restaurant for well over 20 years. It was a shame, years ago, when they lost the old tables and chairs but at least they haven't turned this into the horridness of Surbiton or Richmond Pizzza Expresses which now just look like service stations. Food hot, tasty and served at reasonable intervals. I hope it stays this way.

Went for a bite to eat on a Saturday lunchtime. It was full of couples with their young children, so avoid if you want to eat in peace and quiet. Took a long time to order and get our meal and noticed people who came in after us eat before us. The pizza was ok but not that hot, I've eaten better elsewhere. Probably wouldn't bother going back there again. Nice old building near the River Thames.

Because of the grandchildren we frequently eat at Pizza Expresses (PE).Tonight we we lucky, very lucky. The best Calabrisi (?) Pizza I've had at any PE! Beautifully made, every bite was delicious. My tirimisu was as good as it gets. The restaurant was quiet, very unusual for PE. Service was good. I was so pleased with the entire dining experience I talked to the manager and told him how much we enjoyed the meal. I would go out of my way to return to this particular Pizza Express.

We popped in here before heading to the cinema and chose this one as the service in the Pizza Express in the Rotunda was so poor. Lovely location in an old building. Took a little time to wait to be seated and whilst one of the chefs saw us waiting he did not acknowledge us or ask a colleague to assist us. In part it is the layout of the restaurant with lots of blind spots. However, a little more attention to staff training would be helpful I think. Having said the above once we were seated the waitress was lovely - very friendly and efficient and we will definitely return. The new superfood salad was really good and well worth trying and will definitely have this again. Pizza was very good. And with the Orange Wednesday offer it is great value.So although the start was not great, the excellent service and food made up for this and hence the rating given.

I'm slightly biased as I used (a long time ago) to work in this very Pizza Express for some 18 months, so I've grown to love the place, but I think this one is the nicest around. And I've eaten in a million Pizza Expresses and only very very infrequently had a pizza I didn't like.

Lovely building and the pizzas were good. Service was okay-ish. Seemed all the staff were from Poland but, unfortunately, they weren't very friendly or relaxed. Perhaps this says something about the management, I don't know.What I do know, however, is that the toilets need a deep, deep clean. The lino/vinyl is black with dirt; IT'S REALLY HORRIBLE. If they leave the floors so obviously dirty then I dread to think about other areas of hygiene.

Just on my own for lunch, friday treat. Not busy and I got a good table. I had a simple 4 seasons pizza with a glass of Pinot Grigio. To finish choc fudgecake and ice cream and a coffee. Good lunch. £23The only trouble with pizza is that by the time you get near the end of it is cold and needs a bit of cutting.

Tables were dirty and despite being almost empty the service was terrible. Won't be returning when there is so many other good restaurants in area.

Pizza divina, nossa nao esperava que fosse tao boa, tem varias opcoes de recheio e de massa, eu amei a massa que e fininha e crocante, o preco tb e otimo, e tem as sobremesas tb, foi um otimo fim de semana!!

We visited this Pizza express late Saturday evening, it was empty appart from two couples so service should have been good. We ordered our food only to get a Classic antipasto platter rather than a vege, our teas had no tea bags, the pizza salad was wilted and old and the pizza base was virtually raw in places where there was so much sauce on. I lOve pizza express but I was Completely unsatisfied and won't be going to that branch again.

Visited on a Friday night - not very busy so should have guessed that something was not right. - Food was OK, salads not very good value for money - had 3 small bits of chicken and about 4 bits of pancetta, found a chip in my glass, did get an apology. Then found a chip on my dessert saucer, when this one was pointed out to the waitress, it was met with silence, I did point out that it was a large sharp chip and if a child had found it they may well have injured themself - again nothing. Very poor customer service - will I go again - MOST DEFINATELY NOT.
