Pizza Express in Southwark

I ordered takeout, but the spicy chicken was burnt like coal. I don't know if it's because I'm Asian, but the taste is just so-so.

We came from Spain. The food and service were spectacular. I recommend it 100%

Great pizza - great place - very generous!

We went to this restaurant on December 27, 2024 for dinner. Magnificent restaurant with a very warm welcome. We ate very well: the truffle pizza and their cannelloni are delicious. Special mention for the dough balls which we were served hot. Thanks to Sannija who took great care of us and took the time to explain in detail all the dishes we ordered (always with a smile). I recommend this restaurant.

A great address not to be missed, the neighborhood is great, and the pizzas are copious and delicious! As for the perfect service! We were received by Nadia who is kind and smiling, to do again during our next stay in London :-)

The food was fine I guess, small comparatively to the prices but the taste was fine, wouldn’t visit again but it was an experience. Also the water was £5.60 which was insane.

Excellent spot for lunch with kids after a long walk around London. Conveniently located near Tower Bridge, I booked a table online just an hour before our visit, and it was ready for us even though we arrived early. The kids (6 and 7 years old) were kept entertained with coloring sheets, puzzles, and crayons, which made the meal so much more enjoyable)). Special thanks to our waitress, Sannija, for her friendly and efficient service. Everything was quick, easy, and hassle-free.

Pizza Express is always good but this is the best PE restaurant we have visited to date. Lovely building in an historic location. Great food at a good price. Lovely atmosphere and our server, Emily, was absolutely wonderful. Thank you Emily, we will be back and look forward to speaking with you about West End musicals again.

One of the best pizza’s we had in a while , lovely environment , our waitress Emily was great with kids.

We went here this evening after doing a gig (we are a touring rock band) and had a great meal for our band Christmas dinner. We were served by a delightful lady called Emily. She is also a professional singer. She was charming, friendly and was brilliant with the other. A really nice place.

The best pizza I’ve had in a long time! I ordered a spicy American-style pizza, and it was absolutely perfect—just the right balance of heat and flavor. My wife had the truffle pizza, which was rich, aromatic, and full of flavor, while the kids shared a classic cheese pizza. Everyone was happy, and every last bite was eaten. To finish the meal, we indulged in coffee, ice cream, and sorbet. It was the perfect ending—a refreshing and sweet contrast to the savory pizzas. The entire experience was fantastic, and we’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend this spot for amazing pizza and a great family! Our server Emily was fantastic!

Janna was an amazing waitress, we could see it was busy but she was working extremely hard and we were over the moon with her service

Their garlic bread is delicious, pizza is ok, pasta is not good at all.

Great food and service from Sannija (on many occasions!). Nestled in a quieter but beautiful area near the Thames, always pleasant path to arrive and leave the restaurant. Inside, it is cosy and typically not as busy as other places. My favourite Pizza Express!

Did a pizza-making kids' birthday party here and the staff were excellent. Nadia the staff member in charge was very good and not phased at all by all the little people being slightly chaotic. All very well organised, with plenty of ingredients for pizza toppings. Would recommend to others looking for an affordable and low-stress party venue.

Another great night here tonight. Food, drinks and ambience was on point and didn't disappoint. Tonight we were served by Sannija and she was excellent. Sannija was Warm, welcoming and very informative, we hope to be served by her in the future.

Great place to eat! The service was friendly and quick and the food was delicious. The atmosphere was nice and all in all it was a great experience!

We got seated and waited 15 mins still no service very bad service offered no drinks, there were 3 members off staff talking and ignored both off us worst service. No one come over to offer any drinks nothing-staff to busy talking and ignoring !!! We both walked out and no one came over to say anything very rude. Don’t bother with pizza express, we went opposite to Zizzi and got seats, seated and staff served within 5 mins much better staff and service at lease the staff don’t ignore you here !!!

Nos encanta la pizza express como familia, sin embargo, este absolutamente decepciona la cadena a lo grande. Fuimos a cenar alrededor de las 6. 30 p.m. y no había ambiente, el lugar estaba casi vacío y tristemente ahora puedo ver por qué. Nuestro servidor era encantador, pero ahí fue donde terminó cualquier cosa positiva. Pedimos bebidas, entrantes y gasolina. Las bebidas llegaron después de unos 10-15 minutos y luego esperamos aproximadamente el mismo tiempo de nuevo para nuestras bolas de masa. Luego tardaron unos 35 minutos en llegar las pizzas y tengo que decir que eran horribles. Probé la nueva pizza "burnt ends" y definitivamente se quemó, pero tristemente en la parte inferior y la cobertura cubrió aproximadamente el 50 % de la pizza (ver foto) – no se parece en nada a la increíble pizza en el sitio web. Era comestible, pero cuando la camarera me preguntó si todo estaba bien, quería comentar lo pobre que era nuestra comida. Ella era encantadora, se disculpó y fue a hablar con su gerente. Desde el punto que comentamos el cocinero hizo un punto de seguir mirándonos, que era bastante inquietante e innecesario. El servidor regresó y dijo que podíamos tener un postre de cortesía, pero me negué ya que no comemos postres y no me quejaba solo para obtener algo gratis. Quería comentar al gerente la experiencia que hemos tenido. La camarera volvió - y - adelante, pero el gerente no se molestó en venir en absoluto. Al final de la comida, la camarera dijo que su gerente le ha dicho que saque el 50% del precio de una de nuestras pizzas (aproximadamente £ 7 ). No fuimos solo nosotros, había personas a 2 mesas de distancia que enviaron de vuelta su pizza por ser "quemado a un crujiente" (sus palabras) y pidió uno nuevo, así que esto es claramente un problema con el cocinero o esta sucursal. Para empeorar aún más las cosas usé el inodoro al salir y no estaban limpios, con el cubo desbordado en el suelo. Si hubiera usado el baño en el camino no nos habríamos quedado en absoluto. Francamente nos alegramos de pagar y salir. Hemos dejado varios comentarios positivos para restaurantes de pizza express, pero lamentablemente este es terrible, sin duda no uno al que volveremos y recomendaría a otros evitar a menos que quieras la misma experiencia.

The pizza arrived cold. Additionally, the crust lacked the crunch that I was expecting, making it feel more like stale bread. On top of that, the amount of additional ingredients was very sparse. For the price I paid, I was expecting a lot more flavor and a better quality overall. Unfortunately, this didn't meet my expectations.

Pizza Express in London is a popular pizza chain that can be found on almost every corner. Pizza is always top notch - thin dough, crispy edges and a variety of toppings to suit every taste. Particularly noteworthy are the pizza with spicy pepperoni and their signature Caesar salad.

Super nice service and super delicious pizza.

Visited here with my daughter after a day out in London. It's a lovely venue, tucked away just off the main bustle around Tower Bridge. The staff were very attentive, and the meal was served at express pace - which is just what you want when dining with kids. Some minor issues with drinks not being delivered until I had to prompt when main course arrived, and despite checking kids eat for £1 the first bill I was presented with didn't reflect this, nor the 2nd. These issues were easily rectified by our very pleasant server whose name I didn't catch. Daughter had hat, colouring and activity menu provided and the portion sizes were excellent!

£40 to be served a laughably awful pizza. The picture simply does not capture how terrible and sad each slice looked. I asked the server if this is the usual quality of product they serve as we were the only customers (but were seated 40+ minutes ahead of closing time) and he assured this was the case but I doubt it. Regardless, a terrible experience.

I'm amazed at how much Pizza Express has fallen. Compared to many of its newer rivals - Pizza Pilgrims, Rudy's, etc. - it's so poor. The double pepperoni romana is reduced to being simply an oil pit, due to increasingly lower quality ingredients being used. There's no point in complaining to the staff as there's nothing they can do about it. The chef here has been in the restaurant for years, so it's not him either. It's simply a case of company policy, and they really don't deserve to be in business at this quality level, particularly given their pizzas cost more than the better competition. It's a shame to rate the service down, but - again - it's nowhere near the charm or personality of a Rudy's. It's basically become a tourist trap and somewhere for parents to get an easy life...

A strange atmosphere reigns in this restaurant. The welcome was not really very friendly although a little more pleasant during the service. Relations between the manager and her employees seemed somewhat tense, which was felt in the room. The pizzas are of average quality because they are a little greasy. Once again too bad for the atmosphere, which pushed us to leave rather than stay for dessert. In short, a very mixed opinion on this restaurant.

Sannija was absolutely fantastic! Her service was very thorough and she was able to cater to my family members who are vegetarian by customising our meals. She even provided us with various condiments to try and she believed that we would enjoy them based on our taste as she took her time to get to know us at the beginning. Brilliant service!

I came as part of a group to celebrate a birthday at Pizza Express Shad Thames and take part in the pizza making class. Joao delivered a really fun experience! A special recognition for Sannija because she was so friendly and attentive towards us from beginning to end. Sannija truly went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed our time and especially the birthday girl! She made sure we had drinks and took pictures and even when we requested takeaway boxes she made sure we each had one with bags and she especially packed the birthday girls box in her bag for her so she didn't have to. Even the cake, making sure what was left went back in the box and to the birthday girl so she can take it home. I highlight all of this because it's very rare these days to experience customer service like this so thank you and I would look forward to doing a Pizza making experience again.

A friend had her birthday party here where we had Joao teaching us how to make pizzas, he was fun and guided us well. We also had Sannija as our waiter. She was lovely and polite and gave us fantastic service! Absolute star.

Sannija & Joa were great xx The rest of the staff were a bit awkward and wanted us to wash our hands in the toilet in the middle of pizza making. Which didn’t fit the whole infection control ethos as there was a sink in the same room. But apart from that we had a good experience

I recently tried the Vegan Giardiniera at Pizza Express in London, and I was thoroughly impressed. The toppings were fresh and vibrant, with artichokes, mushrooms, and black olives adding a delightful mix of flavors and textures. The vegan cheese was melty and satisfying, perfectly complementing the crispy thin crust. It’s fantastic to see a chain restaurant offering such a delicious and well-thought-out vegan option.
