Pizza Express - Dorking in Mole Valley

Went on a Friday early evening in January 2025 with two young kids. I cannot fault the service or food. Absolutely 10/10, brilliant.

Came for a family meal and like every time, we were treated very well. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu and the food was incredible!

Today I went for my daughters birthday. The staff were lovely but the manager seemed grumpy and we didn’t feel very welcomed by him.

We had a meal here on Sunday 5 Jan, the food was quite nice. However, WOW, I was in for the shock of my life when I went to the toilet. I even tried out the male toilets after giving up on the female ones, because literally every toilet was full of poo!! I couldn’t believe how unhygienic and gross it was, it really put me off my meal! The service was also very slow and I really do think that things like bathrooms, when dining out, cannot be forgotten. A really unfortunate experience, which will probably put me off going back!

When we walked into the restaurant, we asked if they had a table. We had not booked and were therefore asking if they had the availability, not demanding a table as we were aware we hadn't pre-booked. The person serving, who seemed to be in a manager/supervisor position, snarled and asked if we had booked; we said we had not and then he proceeded to roll his eyes at us. We were sat down at a table and told we needed to 'order immediately' as there was a big group coming. We were almost about to leave until our waiter greeted us and made us feel welcome as customers in the restaurant. The service from our waiter was exemplary and the food was delicious. Fortunately, this made an initial extremely unpleasant experience much better and we were grateful for this.

Excellent lunch here on New Year's Day while visiting friends. Servers relaxed and friendly, especially the one whose neighbour's fence blew down!

We had a great time last week here, the atmosphere and food was amazing we had a lovely staff member called Liv who was very accommodating to anything we needed. i highly recommend going here and we will definitely come back.

Want to give a massive thank you to Kamil who made sure we got our pizza when uber eats let us down. The pizza is delicious so we will definitely be back before long!

I feel obliged to leave this negative review as I have, now on multiple occasions after eating here, contracted horrendous food poisoning as a result. My partner also had this experience less than a year or so ago. We also have had issues with family members gluten-free requests not being prepared properly and being contaminated. The practices of the kitchen need to be looked into because something is not right, especially considering the type of food they are producing. How they are storing ingrediants and if cross contamination is introduced while cooking. The serving staff were more than helpful and courteous, and the establishment was well decorated. It's a real shame.

Pizza Express in Dorking was fantastic! Despite being packed, they were quick with our takeaway order. The pizza was delicious, clearly made with quality ingredients and perfect flavor. Special shout-out to Phoebe, who was so friendly and gave us great recommendations—her warm service added to the experience. Highly recommend for both the food and the service!

Dorking Pizza Express really is a lovely Pizza Express! The waiting staff were both wonderfully attentive even though they were very short staffed due to other members off sick. The pizzas were absolutely delicious and the restaurant was very clean and spacious - we'll definitely be returning!

Good food and welcoming atmosphere

Just dropped in after crawling along the M25 . Welcomed in friendly style and shown to a table. Friendly and efficient, offer of a vegetarian or ordinary menu. Sunday night so not too busy, orders were taken and drinks,food arrived promptly. The service team were efficient but not intrusive. A good job all round. Many new items on the menu, old and trusted favourites still there too!

The staff are always going above and beyond at this branch, they are very good with families with small children, the service is fast and the food is great.

Perfect family night out with impeccable service. We usually frequent Prezzo but, after some poor experiences (food-wise) thought we’d go to PE. Great choice. Not only was the menu varied, but our waiter, Cameron, was absolutely first class. He had superb knowledge of the menu, and suggested an adjustment to my pizza to give it a white base, which I was hoping for. He accommodated our request for normal butter (not garlic ) for the children’s dough balls. Due to his diligence, checking everything was ok and offering more drinks without sounding pushy, we did order more than we thought. He came over without being called to inform us that our food was a little late due to a shuffle in the queue which was really appreciated. Cameron also made sure the babychino was at an appropriate temperature for our four year old. All in all, nothing was too much trouble, food was delicious and we will certainly return. Many thanks!

The food was good, the waitress was nice bit I didn't like the manager, blonde woman with glasses, she seemed to irritate the staff and when I ask for some service she was busy talking and told me to wait a moment by raising her finger to me. She then carried on talking. Bit of a narcissist I think, bad for business!

A family friendly restaurant with surprisingly good pizza. I say "surprisingly" because I am American and this was our pizza (vs Italian pizza) yet better than I have ever had at home. It was absolutely packed when we went, and for good reason. Noisy (kids, well attended, etc, all good things), though, so bring your Loop earplugs to hear those at your table in conversation.

Appalling attitude of manager in this branch. Wandered in with my partner and stood in the entrance waiting to talk to a server,after 5 minutes of being totally ignored by all staff,I approached the manager and asked for a table for 2,she glanced at an empty table and said give me a minute.We waited again and a member of staff then came up and asked if she could help but when we repeated ‘a table for 2 please’,we were told no tables were available.I explained that the manager had asked us to wait and she replied ‘it was the manager who sent me to tell you we have no tables.Seriously appalling customer service,a pleasant apology would have worked,we can totally understand if they’re fully booked at 8.30 on a Tue evening!will be contacting their head office

The Lasagne was delicious. And The Dessert was good. The service was excellent. And At the moment they still take cash which is Rare these days . So a big up from me. 🙂👍😋

Huge shout out to Josie at Pizza Express in Dorking who hosted an incredible pizza making party for our daughter and her friends. Josie was a fantastic host and kept the kids amused throughout. Food was lovely and we couldn't have asked for better service! Thank you.

Ordered on Uber eats. It arrived after leaving the shop 45 mins later. Then we came to tuck in and the dough was raw and inedible. Sent a message to Uber and they refunded £1.20 of the £30+ order. Called the store and they said it wasn’t their problem dispute sending out raw food.

We were treated like royalty - Top Class service provided by Josie . She was fantastic from Start to finish which made the day and will have us coming back in the near future . Starters / Pizza and dessert were all top class . Keep up the good work .

Lovely chain restaurant. Not pretentious and very casual. The dough balls are amazing of course to die for with the garlic butter... I only wish we got more! Good selection of pizzas and the ones we had were very tasty. The staff at this location were absolutely lovely.

Awesome, awesome, awesome: this dinning out will be etched in my memory for a very long while. The location of this outlet and the ambient environment therein was very subtle, and their customer service was sublime. Everything was conjured together with the organoleptic quality of their cuisine: we can't wait to go back anytime soon for another exceptional experience!

Food was poor. Sloppy Giuseppe was dry. Over charged on drinks. Will think very seriously about ever returning to a PE after 40 years of being a loyal customer.

Great quality of food, delicious wine and very friendly service. Really enjoyed our meal out together. We had the Nicoise and Cesar Salads and some tasty desserts.

Visited with friends for dinner. Maitre’D looked miserable and didn’t even speak when we arrived or when she showed us to our table. Some time before our drinks order was taken but food and drink were nice. The waitress who served us was very pleasant. She went off duty and we asked a waiter for our bill which he passed onto another girl as he was also going off duty. We waited 10 to 15 minutes with only 2 cleaning staff in the restaurant. I went and found the girl who was sorting glasses. She brought us the bill and as she walked away said just loud enough for us to hear “I don’t appreciate being asked twice for the bill!” She was extremely surly when she took our payment. Needless to say no tip was left and I won’t be going back there.

We went on a very busy night as seeing a show at Dorking Hall, Emily was our waitress, she was happy, professional, extra helpful, even though she was rushed off her feet, if only more restaurants had a waitress like her. Food was lovely too! Thumbs up all round.

Horrible day. We came for a nice day and got horrible service. One girl and the manager was horrible. They serve red people that got here after us. Very annoyed and disappointed.

Popped in for a bite to eat on my own while my teenage son was at an evening talk at the Surrey FA Meadowbank ground five minutes walk away. Pizza Express is one of my go-to places in any location, and this branch did not disappoint! I was surprised that it was so busy on a February Monday evening, but perhaps due to half term? A good mix of families, friends, couples and solo guests were there. I was glad to be allocated a table, so would recommend booking to be certain. Staff were unfailingly friendly, welcoming and efficient. My Fiorentina pizza was as superb as in any branch! I also ordered a pizza to collect later for my son for when his talk finished to eat in the car on our way home, and he thoroughly enjoyed it. I’m not local to Dorking as I live over half an hour away but next time I’m here for the same reason I would certainly return for a solo dinner! I can also recommend this restaurant for anyone attending Meadowbank, Dorking Halls (very close) or after a Box Hill walk. I’m not hugely familiar with Dorking, but the St. Martin’s Walk Shopping Centre car park is very close to this branch and is currently free after 18.00.

What an amazing experience. Yes they were busy... but nothing was too much for the fantastic staff. Our server was funny,honest and a credit to the company. The manager even though stressed, was in complete control. Busy restaurants + happy customers = 5 star reviews. Beautiful.

Went to Pizza Express for a birthday lunch for our 11 year daughter. There were 12 in the group. We had vegan and gluten free dietary requirements in the party - nothing was too much trouble - everyone had a wonderful time and enjoyed themselves. From the first enquiry, the staff were attentive and our daughter had a wonderful time. Thank you very much!

This is a poorly ran restaurant. I love the food here when they are able to get it correct which twice in a row they have got my collection wrong. I have allergies which can cause me serious harm me. On top of that they do no have the option on the website to take away normal cheese and have vegan cheese by it’s self on a gluten free base with meat. What’s worse is that they never ever pick up the phone here so don’t bother phoning they are useless. But when I drive down the staff are standing in the corner chatting ?

The food was good, and the staff friendly but did feel rushed out as we were the only 2 people left at 22:00 and they asked us to pay and go

We’ve just left pizza express after our 6 year old daughter’s pizza making birthday party!!!! Our host was brilliant, the kids had the most fun ever and to top it off the pizzas they made were amazing!!! Which to be honest I was surprised they weren’t disastrous 🤣🤣 Would totally and utterly, thoroughly recommend! 11 out of 10! Thank you!

Went to Dorking PizzaExpress as a group of 23 to celebrate my dads 60th birthday. The service was amazing! Adrienne in particular was so helpful and no ask was too big from all of us! There were 8 young kids with us and the team were so friendly and patient with the kids! Food was great. Honestly can’t thank the team enough for all their hard work. They really went above and beyond to make it a lovely celebration. Will definitely be returning!

Lovely warm atmosphere. speedy service and good hot food. I would like to see more interesting vegetarian options on the menu for the Pizzas. We do not eat here as often as we used to as your menu is eclipsed by most other chains and independent pizza restaurants.

I've been to this branch many times over the last few years and have mostly been really satisfied with the food and service. Things are reasonably priced and come out promptly. The atmosphere is relaxing and the staff friendly. Make sure to book if you're planning to dine in the early even though, since they can get quite busy due to pre-theatre bookings for those attending Dorking Halls productions.

I was in Dorking for an event when I went to Pizza Express on the main road for something to eat. I know it's a big chain, but you do find differences between branches ! The Dorking branch was very good from start to finish. Attentive staff, even helping my wife get the PE App and free dough balls, all of them that served us at various stages of our meal did a good job. The food & drink was very decent too. I don't leave money as a tip, but prefer my tip to be a recommendation to friends and family to go visit, which I would have no hesitation in doing so here.

Josie should not be a waitress there. It’s a family restaurant and she was rude with my 3 year old daughter. My daughter got so scared I have never seen her like that in my life. She had nightmares at night and kept saying that she is very scared of the “bad lady”. Pizza Express should have a serious conversation with her otherwise ill take this up with the head office. We are devoted customers of Pizza Express and go to their chains twice a month and it’s the first time this has happened to us.

Awful service walked in cause as 2 15 year old girls at night on dorking high street we didn’t feel safe so we asked for help and just to stay in there while we wait for a table and the manager kicked us out and told us to wait on the street this is and outrageous and never will I Want to go in there again. Awfull !

A classic example of a good Pizza Express. We were a large party of two families having an early supper. There was plenty of space and the staff were friendly and helpful. Food as always was excellent.

Our first visit since the refurbishment, was clean and recently repainted a restful colour, service very good and polite friendly staff, will revisit again.

The mini refurb has made the restaurant look a little less cluttered, but this review is mainly about the staff. They are all excellent, but the lady who looked after us on Thursday evening (June 8th) when sitting in the front window was exceptional. Super friendly, was utterly lovely with my daughter, and just made the whole evening an amazing experience. High recommended.

Ordered takeaway twice! The folks there are great! The wait was incredibly short, I was expecting 20 minutes or so, but it ended up being only 5-6. Highly recommend!

Fab meal for 2 - pizza and Bosco salad and 2 mini puds and coffee. Really tasty food and excellent service throughout - attentive, friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommend. And very busy restaurant considering it was a week night.

Visiting from the USA and wanted pizza with a nice casual atmosphere. Entered the Dorking restaurant and were greeted promptly. We ordered the thin crust pizza and it was ready in less than five minutes. It was tasty and exactly what we wanted. Kudos to the staff, especially Josie, for a friendly, quick meal!

I picked up an order I had placed online, specifying gluten free. Unfortunately I received a phone call after collecting the order to say the gluten free doughballs I had ordered were not gluten free despite the allergen stickers on the box stating gluten free 😬 they did ring to let me know and promised a full refund, however I had eaten almost half the doughballs in this time. I am pregnant and gluten intolerant so looking forward to a night in the bathroom! Thankfully not coeliac so won’t be a hospital trip but please do better, Pizza Express. Allergens and intolerances need to be taken seriously. To anyone with an allergy I would either avoid or make triply sure that your food is what you’ve asked for, don’t go by the allergen stickers on the packaging.

Ordered take out and the pizza's we ordered were cold and hardly any topings won't be ordering from them again

Great food and service. Can't beat a American (Pepperoni) Romana (thin crust) Pizza Express pizza, just the right amount of dough and pepperoni oil. Some new items in the menu (Budda Bowl) will have to try these next time as the salads have always been great here. Still the same great experience my family has loved for many years.
