Plough in Warrington

1st time visit for many years, called in for burger meals (2 for 1 thursdays) good price and nice meal, staff very busy but seemed to manage and stay nice and helpful, will visit again.

Been the plough a few times now and everyone seems friendly staff also the manageress came and chatted with us for a while and made a fuss of our dog ava food is always great too a very choicy menu we were not disappointed... great stuff,,🍺🥂😃

Bit dissapointed bogof no rump steak and only 1pm

It was ok there was 13 of us we all had food it was a great offer buy one get one free. And on drinks was great but we had an un cooked meal had to go back was gammon told was a new chef gave us two small kids pudding for this.we went home and a few of us ended up on the toilet due to what we had no so nice 😞

Came for a family birthday meal , the food was lovely & didn't have to wait long for it to be brought to our tables , I would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to try somewhere different

Lovely pub in a nice area and staff are fantastic and friendly However for the 2nd time in a row we have had to keep our coats on to keep warm. Lunchtime visits admittedly but a pub can't be an option if it's cold. Also nearly 5 pounds for a can of guiness zero , a can !! is borderline profiteering. Good food and service as above but will probably wait till spring to visit again and avoid the Guinness zero

Great little pub off the beaten track food is amazing and great value always try the special offers they are great value for money. Staff are polite and friendly and always try to accommodate Visited with my sister in law we had a gammon skillet meal beautiful well presented well cooked plenty of food very hot and tasty amazing thank you compliments to the chef

Spent the second year running coming for Christmas dinner. Amazing again service spot on the staff are so friendly the food spot on never had turkey so nice . Dessert yummy would recommend to anyone we will be back next year

Came in yesterday evening for something to eat. The staff behind the bar and serving our food where absolutely lovely and the food was really good, your manager however needs a training course on his customer service skills. Never been in the pub before and couldn't find the toilets, so i went up to the manager, who was clearing off a table and politely asked where they were, didn't even look up, nodded his head backwards and said "over there to the right", i found the toilets, which were to the left and wish i hadn't, the smell when you opened the door was awful, the sanitary bins in every toilet were overflowing, used sanitary pads were hanging out of the bins and on the floor, i didn't use them they were that bad, a complaint was made to the manger who said "yeah they're being emptied tomorrow"

Yet again superb food cooked to order. Great atmosphere. Staff friendly. Fabulous service.

Lovely Meal had with friends. Service was brilliant and staff friendly. Served by Ellie who went above and beyond to take order and serve food remembering everyones order. Food was very tasty and really good portion size.

Food wasn't usual standard , biscoff cheesecake wasn't even cheesecake it was oddly cakes. Millionaire burger was disappointing and presentation was notgood ,no salad dressing , no onion ring just a burger in corner of tray with a couple of chips smattered on

Visited today and was very impressed with the food quality, presentation, and flavor—it was outstanding! However, I’m giving it 4 stars because although the food was excellent, we had to ask for our drinks as they weren’t ready, which meant a bit of a wait. That said, the place had a lovely, cozy atmosphere overall.

Steak had to be sent back to much blood for me, but otherwise, food was OK.

Budget food but fairly cheap - wouldn’t go again.

Nice atmosphere and Great food. The service was positive and courteous. I was impressed with the pricing on the children's menu. All in all very good place.

We visited the pub for a meal with my grandparents on the 13th October 2024, who had been before a few times and recommended it. We all ordered the beef roast dinner, but unfortunately, the meal was a big letdown. When it arrived, the food was cold. We sent it back, and while the staff were apologetic and reheated the food, it was clearly reheated in a microwave. and the quality was poor. The Yorkshire pudding was rubbery, and overall, the meal was disappointing. My grandad even commented that it was "the worst roast dinner he'd ever had." Hoping to end on a better note, we ordered dessert. My grandparents enjoyed their apple pie, and my partner’s sticky toffee cheesecake was fine. However, I ordered the biscoff cheesecake, which had a strange texture and unpleasant taste. When we pointed this out, the waiter suggested it might have been previously frozen. She kindly offered me an alternative, and I chose the chocolate fudge cake, which was much better. While the staff were polite and did try to rectify the issues, the overall experience was disappointing. We had high hopes but sadly wouldn’t return based on this visit.

Absolutely would recommend this place to ANYONE. The food the service and the atmosphere was second to none. It's the best food we've had in a very long time and we will be definately becoming regulars now. Very happy we stumbled across this lovely place.

It's home from home. Where else can you get 2 mains and 2 drinks. Under £20.

Great selection of food & drinks available, food on Sizzle Plates is particulrly good. lovely traditional pub with a large beer garden - well worth a visit! Edit -2024 and still fabulous food.

For the last few times .. the food hasn't been of a good standard.. it's cheap enough to let it slide.. but not enjoyed my last 2/3 visits

The food is excellent here. Went with a large group for my daughter 18th. Absolutely NO complaints . All sat together orders were correct and food great. Highly recommend. They also do a blue card discount. So if you're a member of the medical or emergency services, take your card with you.

Our third visit for lunch in 4 weeks, this time for our daughters birthday. Table pre booked and we got the one requested. Food was excellent again. Fast becoming our new favourite for pub food. The meal deal is great value for money

Great food and service in an old time pub.

Got the starters wrong being Vegan they where unsure which starter was which so ended up going back and starting again. Main courses had been left under the hotplate light, hunters chicken was dry sauce had congealed, gravy boat had a skin over it , mushroom and garlic tart was burnt and dried out , really dissapointed with the quality, as normally the food is so good and tasty

Steak Night Rocking it today. Two steaks cooked absolutely perfectly. Arrived within 20 minutes. Much better value compared to some well known steakhouse M&C. Well worth a visit

Two mains for £13.49 deal. Food took a long time to appear but my word it was well worth the wait. My husband chose Steak and Ale Pie and I had the 8oz gammon steak which came out sizzling!😋🤤Both meals were excellent. The atmosphere was fairly quiet as most people were sitting outside. The TV was on but it was great because it wasn't to loud. Will definitely return?

We visited The Plough in Houghton Green for the first time last night & was a little apprehensive as we have always gone to The Winwick Quay which unfortunately has recently closed. Well it did not disappoint & exceeded our expectations...the staff were lovely & friendly & very welcoming & even though it was really busy, we didn't wait long for our meals which were all beautifully presented & piping hot. The restaurant is well set out & very spacious & has a lovely atmosphere & the staff went above & beyond in making our visit very enjoyable & we will definitely be returning as it looks like we have found our new GO TO so definitely a HAPPY BUNNY!!

Been ti a few restaurants but this was the best yet would recommend that you visit .... It's going to be my regular from now on ...meals are a good variety and kids menu has a good selection....my family and myself had a celebration fro my younger son fabulous service and staff 😊😊

The food was nice, I had a signature burger and I thought it looked great and it tasted nice. The bun fell apart so didn't eat the bun but the rest of it tasted lovely. My other half had a burger and honestly it looked kinda sad, not much on the plate for what you paid for. It was fast, served hot and the staff were lovely. Nearly £8 for 2 none alcoholic drinks though which I thought was pricey. I would go again though but I'd try something different on the menu. Loads of selection though hefty menu :) clean and tidy in the pub though and outside looked good too.

Had the mixed grill and a couple of pints of IPA. Value for money it's the best food and beer I've had in along time. They just need a couple more staff to help serve.

Went for lunch on Sunday 7th July and was pleasantly surprised The last meal I had in the Plough was probably 25 years ago and it was a ploughman's, so in I went, The staff were friendly and welcoming I felt at ease straight away,that's a good thing. Next thing I noticed was the menu, after a quick scan the regular mixed grill caught my eye, It came on a sizzling plate with the egg cooked to perfection ,I like that too, All in all I liked the food and the services,so will be returning to sample some other dishes from the menu, I'll post some pictures of the menu and food prices.

Totally loved my meal but do wish i had asked for my steak on a plate rather than hot plate my steak was overcooked by time it got to the table. Was no trouble them changing my meal to how i wanted it. Staff wer polite friendly and helpful

Family friendly Green king pub in a residential area of Warrington . Wide range of continental beers and 3-4 ales on. Quite spacious and a large outside area. Food served. Quiz on Thursday. Large flat carpark handy for an overnight 🚐 🍻

Very friendly lovely staff nothing to much trouble. We visite twice a week most week fir family occasions or just tea out after work. Food always very good and fast. STAFF are lovely.

Worse pub food I have had in long time, first time there called in on way home. I got the lasagne it was so dry and claggy,no moisture,sauce in it at all, don't know how many times it had been heated up tasted old. My partner got the chicken combo that was also very dry.

There is must better food and drink elsewhere not a one star but nearly.

Worst experience I've had in a long time, booked a table and when arrived instead of asking what name the booking was in just presumed and started giving random names to us. The new menu didn't have much choice in my opinion compared to other green king pubs. I ordered our meals and then 15 mins later 2 of the 3 arrived and was just left there with no meal, when I enquired they said oooh I'm sorry bit there was an incident with my meal. 5 mins later meal arrived and to my surprise it still wasn't right as they said they had to bring part of the meal after the fact. The food was also a huge disappointment as it supposed to of been hot sauce on it but never did None of the staff seemed to know what was going on tbh and seemed like a bunch of idiots I have been a few times before and never had any issues but this was total and utter s... and don't think I will be going again for a long while

2nd visit, 2nd bad meal, when I complained was met with an attitude that is less than welcoming. Do yourselves a favour and head to The Millhouse 500 yds away they never fail on their food quality and service.

Lovely unexpected lunch..most enjoyable

The Sunday roast was well cooked and plenty of it. Only complaint it was not very hot, but would still definitely recommend it. We had a second visit today and it was even better than the first time. Food really hot and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. A very relaxed and comfortable meal.

Great deal, 2 courses and an afternoon's entertainment, all for less than £15.00, We chose the Dolly Parton tribute act, a great afternoon's entertainment ensued, great atmosphere, great food, great staff, can thoroughly recommend this experience.

The food isn't good at all I had the mix grll and the best thing in it was the chips

We had a lovely afternoon at the plough , there was a Dolly Parton Tribute, and she was good, and went on to do other song's and she was funny as well, also included in the £15.99 price was a 2 course meal I had the gammon sizzler, there was 12 of us in our party and everyone enjoyed the afternoon I would recommend, there's a Michael Jackson tribute in may, Frankie valley in June, and tom Jones on the 9 July so had a try , if you have the time 12 until 4 enjoy

If you want AMAZING mouthwatering food that is very generously sized & want a brilliant experience then this is THE BEST place to go!!! 🤗😊 Came here about a Month ago with my boyfriend on a busy weekday evening. We were attended to quickly for our drinks. Given plenty of time to decide what we wanted from the menu. Staff are always happy to give you extra time if needed.(There is a little bit of a wait on food..) but that's because ALL THE FOOD IS ALWAYS COOKED FROM FRESH!! 😊😊NEVER MICROWAVED!! 🤗😊 I can HIGHLY recommend the Chicken skillet which comes with large chips & peas. My fella ordered fish & Chips which he loves! We had a lovely desert each too. Staff were extremely polite & had great attitude. Food was amazing!! More than happy to pay their prices. Atmosphere was really nice not too loud. Everything was 10/10 🤗🤗 in my opinion well worth the money!! Hope anyone who goes has a great experience too!! 🤗😊 The Only problem I had that night were my jeans feeling too tight!! Xx 😂😂

Food was nice and like the app for ordering food. If youre just ordering drinks though keep an eye on the time as my drinks didnt go through and we had to chase them up. One young man was a lovely server but the others seemed pretty done with their shifts and a bit cold. All in all fine pub, think id only go back for their 2 for 1 cocktails after 6 on saturdays.

Went for Sunday dinner and when we got there it was absolutely freezing and when we asked for the heating on there reply was its broken just like it was 12 months ago. Shouldn't be allowed to trade in them conditions it was a joke

Good old pub food. Gammon as show in picture is really nice, good quality meat. It stood out from other meals we ordered. The chicken strips were good quality also but plating looked very bland in comparison..tasty though. Lots of items on the menu to choose from, will try again. Sadly, the last time we had a group booking, many items were off the menu. Despite on this occasion, checking on arrival that everything was available and being told yes, after the whole table had ordered, 10 minutes later those who ordered the steak and camembert were told that the kitchen had no camembert, causing the guests to rethink their order and delaying the rest of the table. The dish is described as a '24oz rump steak, cooked to your liking, sliced and served with a whole baked camembert for dipping' Quite innocently, the server offered that we could have grated cheddar. When asked if this would be melted for dipping, we were told 'yes, I suppose, or we could just sprinkle it over'....Hardly a replacement. Due to the size of the menu, we opted for the ribeye steak sizzler, medium rare, with fried onions, peas, grilled tomato and chips as it was simple and meant the other guests wouldn't need to wait too long for their, already ordered meals. The menu has the option of having the meal on a plate which we opted for as a steak on a sizzler plate will continue cooking hard as soon as it's plated (?). Unfortunately both ribeyes arrived with no fried onions (apparently they only apply on the sizzler plate...) and we're both overcooked. Noticing a few small pieces of onion on the plate tells me that the steak had speak a minute or two on the pass sitting on a red hot sizzler plate. Annoyingly this is the second disappointing experience at the Plough, but because I was a guest of the booker I couldn't influence the choice of the location. Hopefully the Management team address these issues in the future and most importantly, ensure that whilst advertising the venue as a steakhouse, your staff can manage to cook a steak correctly and also manage their inventory to ensure you have the components for one of the highest priced dishes on your menu - the Steak Camembert Sharer and not advise restaurant staff to suggest 'grated cheddar'.

A pub with typical pub food and drink options: burgers, fish and chips, fajitas, lasagna, etc. Various themed deals and a two-for-£12 offer that runs most of the week. TVs for viewing sports. The car park is a reasonable size, but fills up even midweek.

Lovely clean tidy, staff warm welcoming.

Awful meal. Maybe because it was a bank holiday. My wife had a steak that was so tough when she tried to swallow a piece she couldn't and it made her physically sick. My gammon had a funny colour but tsdted OK the chops however were oven chips that tasted like they Hadd been kept warm. Such a shame.
