I visited here last night for my birthday with 3 friends. The food was amazing! The atmosphere was lovely. Our waitress overheard our visit was for my birthday and gifted me a free dessert which was lovely and so appreciated 💕 thank you so much! We shall be back!

Been a few times now, and the steaks have always been cooked to perfection. Great quality and generous portions. The seasoned chips are a great accompaniment. Service is really good, and a relaxing atmosphere.

really disappointed with the steak I had , asked for medium rare and came medium , lots of grissle in it as well. The rest of the food on the plate was only just warm. the hype had led me to believe that I would have the best steak ever , and it didn't come up to scratch. will not be returning.

Excellent food, friendly staff but wear thermals and a jumper. Even after asking for the heating to be turned on it was still cold with a baltic draft coming from somewhere. Spoilt what would otherwise have been a very pleasant experience.

I'd like to keep this place a secret..so I can get in more often...it's got to offer the best steak /dinner in notts area...100 percent recommend .we definitely will be using again and again.weds and thurs a quality steak dinner and a drink 22 quid..bargain

The entire experience was fantastic, from the incredible food to the warm atmosphere. However, what truly made the evening special was Olivia. Her service was absolutely 10/10—she was so attentive and brilliant with my children, which made the evening stress-free and enjoyable. The food was delicious, but Olivia's warm and welcoming attitude took it to another level. She made us feel so comfortable, and we’re already planning to come back—this might just become a regular spot for us, thanks to her! Highly recommend!

First time of visiting definitely won’t be the last it was everything and more than expected. We had heard nothing but good reviews but it was more than that the steak was wonderful mouth-wateringly gorgeous and plentiful. If I could give 20/10 stars I would. All the staff were really nice and looked after us 100%

Was recommended porterhouse for Sunday lunch and was quite impressed that you have to pre-book (had to wait a couple of weeks) and then also paying deposit when it’s not the run up to Christmas. Surprised at there being no obvious car park and also how small it is but the ambience was perfect and the food truly delicious. We both had all the meats option which was loaded up with lamb, pork, chicken and awesome beef. I have a good appetite and love a dessert but I ended up with a doggy bag and absolutely no room to even think about dessert. We sat near where the steaks were hanging and I’m pretty sure we will be checking out a steak night soon. You know a place is a gem when 24 hours later my son is still asking how much I loved Sunday lunch.

Quite possible the best stake we've ever had. Massive portion, had starters too but didn't need them , definitely recommend.

Wasn’t impressed at being charged an extra £50 by accident. Corrected after they were informed of the mistake but apparently the ‘system made an error’ adding 2 extra beers and 4 extra puddings. Hmm. Steak was reasonable but looked odd for a fillet, one fillet served to our table looked chunky and one looked very flat. Pineapple juice was good. Place was a bit noisy when we got there due to a table with a few kids running around and going in and out of the main door quite a bit. Service was ok but there seemed to be a lot of standing around waiting for work to do. Doubt I’d go back. I’m an honest reviewer, nothing much to praise here unfortunately.

Ordered 12oz rump rare to medium. Probably one of the most driest steaks I’ve ever had with no flavour. No starters or sides available either. I wouldn’t rush back

I ate many steaks in my life, and in this little place, I found the best steak ever. It's just a poem with no right words to describe how incredible it tastes. It's must try food.

First time going tonight and me and my husband absolutely loved the meal, I had fillet steak rare, cooked to perfection. Everything tasted amazing better than miller and carter. Staff carnt do enough for you and all smiles. Would highly recommend. 🥰

Fantastic place. Highly recommend you visit. Was made very welcome on arrival. Decor was nice with lots of small rooms as it's a house that's been converted into a restaurant. Service was prompt and staff very polite. The food was excellent, my fillet steak was cooked medium to perfection. My husband had Cajun chicken which he says was very good. Will deffo go back.

Update: Visited again, the young female staff are very eager to upsell drinks and desserts, and constantly ask if everything is OK. The chef can be seen drinking wine while cooking in the kitchen! It doesn't matter how you ask for the steak to be done he does it how he likes. Two people ordering steak medium can get two very different steaks. Expensive but good quality, however it is variable not everyone in our group was happy with their steaks as either over or under cooked. Old Review: We had to send one dish back! Delicious food but had to deduct stars for the cutlery not being polished there were dishwasher marks left on all of them, and the special of the noodles was very sour. I must say to their credit they replaced the dish quickly and without fuss so I've increased my rating to four stars. Our friend is used to Asian food and eats it on a regular basis and he said the noodles were definitely off. Other customers were questioning the flavour but the chef was saying that it was correct. We feel the flavour profile was not balanced. Maybe too much lime juice was added to the miso? The steaks and mixed grills however were perfect. The ribeye cut like a knife through butter. The meat was so tender. Even the grilled herb tomatoes were so ripe and delicious. The chips were near perfect crunchy crispy and fluffy on the inside. They soaked up the vinegar perfectly which cut through the oil of the chips. Altogether a marriage of barbecue flavours that go together perfectly. We had the local IPA and a cider which paired perfectly with the meals. The restaurant was busy with local regulars and the staff were friendly and accommodating. Every request we made was met with a courteous "no problem" reply. Service was impeccable. The desserts for those in our party who could manage them were also delicious. There was a Mars bar Cheesecake and a kinder bueno tart which was dense chocolate. Highly recommended if you still have room after your main course! (I didn't!)

Where do I start! Absolutely unbelievable quality. So 2 terraced houses knocked through and a restaurant is created, a restaurant that sells unbelievable food. Nothing on my Sunday dinner was below a 9 out of 10. I had the mixed meats roast for £25 with an additional cauliflower cheese. Four of us went for this meal and all of us said it was one of the best we have had. The girls working the floor were superb, and kitchen staff are obviously highly skilled to be knocking out food of this quality. A real quirky place that offers something quite different to anywhere I have been. Shall certainly be coming here again!

This restaurant is great, the food was very good the service was very good but the restaurant is quite small. The 4 of us had steak which was cooked perfectly to our request. Will definitely be going back ( even though it's a 35 mile drive) .

Returned again today this is our go to place for Sunday roast. Quality is excellent. Cooked to perfection. Lovely atmosphere. We have all the meats Sunday roast £25. Kids have the kids roast £7. Great pint of Guinness too. We will be back and highly recommend!!!

I've got to be honest, I'd probably pass this venue and not even look twice. But my friend living in the area had already dined there with her partner and just knew I'd love it. We were seated immediately but not liking to be too cramped next to another table, we asked if we could move, and the staff made it happen immediately. Please know, I'm not saying the restaurant is cramped, it's very small and intimate which I LOVE! It's just when me and my besty catch up, it's better for everyone with ears that we are away from people HAHA! I can't say enough about how perfect the service was, even offering us things we weren't aware of to make the experience better for us. Our drinks were served very quickly and then came the food. THE FOOD! This is one of the best steaks I've had in a loooong time! Even taking my leftovers hope to finish later. The entire night was just perfect. The price is beyond reasonably for what you get! I will 110% be back to dine there again!!!!!!!

I’m staying for an evening around the corner so didn’t have a booking, the staff were incredibly helpful to find a table to fit me in. The food was delicious, I had the surf and turf which although pricey at £43 for a pint and the meal with a Stilton sauce it was worth every penny. The ladies who were serving were all lovely, incredibly friendly and very efficient. I’d advise booking if you are looking to come, it’s definitely worth a visit

First time here. The food was superb 👌 Service was fast and attentive. The only downside, for us, was that the tables for 2 were very close together, so if on a date night, as we were, it wasn't very private. Also, our table was by the stairs so often had folk standing next to us wondering where the toilets were. Will return but would ask to be seated elsewhere if possible x

Only criticism is that we can never seem to get a table booking at short notice!!! Must be popular! So we can see why now! Big steaks! Banging chips and stuff! Steak sauces through the roof…. and sides that are off the charts… we backed up the Ribeye and the Jurassic with Mac n Cheese and Garlic Mushrooms and two sauces…. You need some energy to consume that amount of food! Had to admit defeat… keep up the good work folks! A real buzz about the place with Al Fresco dining… even the opportunity to put my own playlist on the Bluetooth Stereo

Last week was my 4th visit here and I will keep going back. Not only is it easily the best steakhouse I've been to based on the quality of food, but all the posh steakhouses need to take a leaf out of porterhouse handbook. Last week I took my family for sunday dinner on recommendation of a few people. This sunday dinner is the best sunday dinner I've eaten out and this was agreed by my dad, step mum and sister. As a family off food lovers this is as higher praise as I could give and I cant wait to go again!!! Well done barrows chefs and staff and thank you for helping make another special day.

Food was great cauliflower bang bang was amazing crunchy crispy ,been cheffing for years and you got that spot on need to ask how you did it ,and steak was great only place I will have steak to be honest ,service was excellent put up with us after our pub crawl was not rowdy but may be challenging,everything was great thankyou .

Food fabulous. Steak was to die for. Waitress service excellent. Was sat on the top level in a small back room which was more like a store room. In fact it had got chairs stacked in the corner so there was no atmosphere and it kind of ruined the night. If you book ask not to be in that room

Went with family, 11 of us in total. Everything from the service to the food and price was excellent. The waitress who served us (I wish I had asked her name) was so helpful and attentive. 10/10 I had the sirloin steak as shown in the picture, cooked to perfection and delicious. Had a lovely Sunday roast the other week, massive slabs of beef on the plate! Can't fault the food, I would recommend it if you've not been. It did take a while to come though so I've knocked a star off.

The food here is spot on. We came here for a family treat and were not disappointed. The restaurant is cosy and welcoming and the staff very attentive. I went for the ribeye and everything was cooked to my liking and full of flavour. The presentation was perfect. We'll definitely be back.

Booked for my 40th birthday for a family meal. There was 14 of us and pre ordered to make things easier. I was assured when I booked that my mum would be catered for (she has ocd with most foods) and I made sure again before the Saturday that it would be ok for her to have a jacket potato cheese and beans, no salads no seasonings nothing. Got there in plenty of time the girls serving us I can’t fault them, got us drinks and then double checked the pre order that I had written down for them with me. Waited nearly an hour for food but granted all dishes came out together but then there was my mums dish which had to be sent back as the chef had put some kind of green seasoning/garnish on top. Dish came back but because of what was in it before my mum had to check to make sure it had all been taken off and it hadn’t it had just been hidden with more cheese. I took it back and did say to front of house I told you if it wasn’t plain it would get sent back, she not eat this now at all. Was offered to order something else off the menu for her but that is why I ordered jacket potato . my poor mum was then sat there with nothing to eat while we all ate but then i didn't eat much of mine cos i was very angry. My mum got upset and started crying my birthday meal with family was ruined quite frankly The chef said that he wasn’t told even though it was written down and that he thought it looked bland. Was also informed later on that night that the butter that was used had herbs in it. I used to really like eating here but I think it’s gone down hill with the food in the last couple of years and I won’t be eating here again. This also has put my mum back and now doesn’t want to go out again.

Excellent place for a steak would definitely recommend

Apart from the cherries issues we had a really good meal. The steak night offer for £22 including a beer was good value , good portion and very tasty. The desert description was chocolate mouse and cherries, however the cherries consisted of 2 small glace cherries which was a bit of a con ! We will be returning to try the other menus but will check on details before ordering.

We enjoyed a lovely early evening meal, we hadn't realised it was a special steak menu but the server ( I'm sorry I didn't get your name) was fantasticly knowledgeable so we decided really quickly, I had the Cajun chicken, my partner had the porterhouse along with sides of scampi, onion rings and the blue cheese and peppercorn sauce. Everything was cooked beautifully, the chicken was moist, the steak could have been cut with a butter knife... and the homemade chips were absolutely perfect 👌 if I had to give criticism, I prefer a thicker sauce but we left happy and full after the generous pudding portions. Will definitely return! Staff were fantastic too really attentive and knowledgeable, and seemed like a happy team! 😊

Booked as a birthday treat for my wife. After a long busy hectic week, we were looking forward to a lovely meal and the opportunity to spend some quality time together. The meal was mediocre...... steak was overcooked but was willing to let this go as the rest of the mixed grill was great. Ordered 2 x apple crumble with custard for dessert. Both of the crumbles were cold!!! To their credit, the crumbles (hot) were replaced free of charge which was appreciated. No sooner had we finished dessert and we were presented with the bill which incedently we didn't ask for!! The time was 9 30pm. We were asked if we'd be paying cash or card and literally two minutes later the waiter appeared with the card machine...... nothing like been told to leave !!!!!

We went to Poterhouse by Barlows for the 1st time today to celebrate our Golden Wedding Anniversary & it was fabulous, the filet steak was divine as was the whole meal & all the staff were very friendly & tentative, wonderful all round experience, we will definitely be going back again 😋😋😋🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Had been meaning to visit Barlows for a long time and finally some friends suggested it as a January Pick Me up. We were not disappointed. Perfect steaks in a nice environment with very friendly and attentive staff. Nice and busy confirming people will turn out on a cold and windy mid January evening if the food is worth it....and it was. First visit but it won't be the last!

Twice as good as miller and carter! Better service, great quality food and not nearly as expensive! This place was brilliant, as soon as we entered the building we were greeted and seated! Quality drinks and the steaks are unreal! Don’t waste your money at any other overpriced ‘steakhouse’ just go here you won’t be disappointed! Have the king prawns to start their amazing! Could do with a chocolate desset is my only gripe. Apart from that…5 stars all around.

Have been twice now. First was for the Saturday lunch time deal and I was very happy. Went for Christmas Eve dinner. Couldn't have the Christmas menu as we should have separately booked that, certainly was not obvious when booking a table on their site. I couldn't find that option when I went back looking for that. By 4:30 1/2 the steaks were no longer on the menu as sold out. Come on you a steak house owned by a butchers shouldn't run out that early. I ordered the last ribeye to be cooked blue. What came out was a very flat and extremely thin but large steak. Definitely cooked more than blue but what can you do it was the last one. Food was still tasty for sure so can't complain about that. Just felt let down with the visit. Will more than likely be in 2 minds when we look to book a table out for dinner again.

Went in on Christmas eve. They had crackers for the table which was a sweet thought. I ordered a veg carbonara, it was easily one of the best I've had in the country. The staff were super friendly and lovely too

Good food but we sat near the door every time someone came in it seemed like we were at the north pole very disappointed , we'll go in the summer but never in the winter sorry .

We visited last Saturday night and it was excellent. My daughter booked for my 80th birthday treat. Sausages were tasty and chips perfect. We came with an 11 year old and he had his first steak which was outstanding. The cornflake tart was to die for and rounded of a marvellous evening. Decor is amazing. WELL DONE SCOTT AND YOUR STAFF. Can't wait to come back.

Great Sunday meal with my sister , first time visiting for us. Great service,food was cooked lovely. I had the half chicken which was big, only had very small serving of mash potatoes on my, should be more for price. Beer garden to the rear is a great area.

Our visit was on Saturday the 7th of October, been to Porterhouse a few times over the past few years and it’s always been very good but this time it was exceptional in every way possible. We didn’t have a starter we went straight for the main courses, my wife had the fillet steak medium rare and it was cooked to perfection, I myself had the mixed grill it was amazing the best mixed grill I ever had by far all the meats were cooked perfect and there was plenty of it, I highly recommend the mixed grill especially if you love your food and you have a very good appetite. For desserts I had the crème brouille and the wife had the Eton mess I would say the desserts are slightly overpriced but they were good. Overall our experience was a positive one and would highly recommend that you try Porterhouse by Barlow if your a lover of steak and local produce you will not be disappointed Finally well done to all the team at Porterhouse
