Porto Grill a Taberna in Portsmouth

Coming to eat here for dinner in the evening on a weekday or weekend is perfect for family or friends who would like a chill friendly atmosphere for a restaurant. The waitress Hana was especially spectacular and catered amazingly for us. She provided us with menus as soon as we sat at our table and gave us time to choose our drinks and food and the service was immaculate. Hana even offered us refills on our drinks whenever any of us were low which you don’t see every often which I thought was lovely. The food was delicious and came very fast. Hana was incredibly attentive and cared for anything we needed, and I would go to the restaurant just to see her and speak with her as she is wonderfully bubbly and kind to everyone who came in. Overall the experience was 10/10 I would definitely visit again and I do recommend it to anyone for a lovely meal with great prices.

First time we have been to this little gem in North End, it was recommended to me by friends, what can i say, it's a cracking place to go, such a friendly atmosphere, service was first class an the food was to die for, we all said we will definitely be back. . SOON

Amazing service, delicious food, great experience. We booked a table for 5, when they opened and the place was empty (didn't stay that way for long), empty but still friendly and good atmosphere. Hannah made us feel very welcome. Tweeked the meals a little for our young kids too. Will definitely come again and will bring the whole family.

Wonderful find, lovely food, great waitress and good atmosphere.

Bbq ribs were delicious, lots of meat. However the main dish Carne de porco was rather bland and cooked using frozen potato slices. Will want to come back for the ribs, but not the main

A decent meal, reasonable price. The food itself was nice, but my steak wasn't very well rested and the ribs lacked flavour/sauce. Perhaps that is the Portuguese way to do ribs, we found them very tender, but lacking flavour. Drinks were not good, cider was barely cool, served with ice, and soft drinks were from bottles and were flat.

Lovely place, so friendly, lots of regulars there when we went. It was our 1st time, and we were made as welcome as those the staff clearly knew well. Food was great, good value. Will go again.

Hugely impressed! Anna gave us such a lovely & genuine welcome and was so fantastic and looked after us so well, she went above and beyond! The food was out of this world! The restaurant and toilets were immaculately clean too! Highly highly recommend, will definitely be returning. 😍

Visited with my wife (who's Portuguese) and had a lovely time at this restaurant. Fabulous food, charming service, nice relaxed vibe, very reasonable prices. Definitely on our list of favourite restaurants. Will return soon.

Ate here on 16/12/23. A well-deserved 4 stars. Friendly staff - unusually the chef greeted us a couple of times. Reasonably priced, good quality food - I particularly recommend the skewers on offer. A couple of minor points for improvement: 1) too much dressing on the salads, 2) a larger portions of fries would have been good. But overall, a very good meal - and will happily return again in the future.

Went for a meal out to celebrate a birthday and they put up a birthday banner, which was a lovely gesture. The food was amazing and the staff are very friendly. Would highly recommend the ribs!!!

We went here as a family of 4 for my wife's birthday. The staff are very attentive and make you feel so very welcome. Having been here before I know the dishes are quite filling, and so, I shared sardines with my daughter, they were very tasty - highly recommend as are anything on the skewers! Such a gem away from the 'main' drag!

The starter looked like grilled plastic with two slices of tomatoes (£5), three slices of defrosted bread (£2) the meat was full of nerves, £52 for two for a steak and fries is frankly pitiful. The waitress was nevertheless friendly, that's the only good point.

I was expecting better taste and not so expensive 4£ for a pastel de nata( custard tart)

Lovely food, really decent portion sizes as well. I had a mixed fish main with rice (can't remember what it was called) & they were so generous with the fish, I had loads! The king prawns were really big too! Only downfall is that we had to pre-order because it was a Friday booking.. understandable as they need need get the food in & are only a small business but still sometimes difficult when doing that, the order was also then wrong as well which questioned the reason for pre-ordering in the first place lol. They did own up to it though & gave us a free bottle of wine, these things happen.

We came here after all day at peppa pig world very hungry and tired. We had great meals for 5 adults and 3 kids all 5star with great service when we here again we definitely coming back. 😀

This was my first visit and the food was sensational. We had a range of starters to share. Spare ribs - just fell off the bone, porto chicken - nice and moist and bread from the oven. I had salmon with fries and salad. The salmon was really tasty, fries nice and crisp and the salad was a good mix. The staff were all really friendly and polite. We will definitely be going again. I have just had an absolutely fantastic night out at this restaurant with my wife as a spur of the moment treat. I can’t begin to describe how good the food was and the atmosphere was superb and exceptionally good value for money. I can’t recommend this restaurant enough. Thank you very much to Katrina and Jorge for making our first visit such a special one. Avoid all other restaurants in Portsmouth and frequent Porto Grill. 👌👌👌

We come here as a family all the time and love it! We are always well looked after by Jorge and he's so accommodating. They are fab with the kids as well and can't do enough for us!

We come to Porto grill every week Service is always amazing, treated like friends with great food and company from all Lola, Katrina, Allison, Alex and of course Jorge.

Wow, what can I say. Porto Grill? More like “Porto feel ill”. Ordered “Porto Chicken” and chicken wings. When it came the Porto Chicken was plain, bland and just about cooked. Only reason I gave a star is because the fries were cooked quite well at least. Chicken wings were soft, mushy and cold, even though specified to be “off the grill”.

Food was not very good but service was okay

Portugal in Portsmouth, amazing food, ambience, and a great welcome from Katarina and Jorge. Our grandson wanted the food experience of Portugal and this lovely restaurant delivered scoring a ten out of ten. It is good value for money and the food is authentic Portuguese. The restaurant is atmospheric, cannot wait to return.

Went for my birthday tonight after reading the reviews. So glad we did! Had the most amazing food, service was second to none! Had ribs, one of 5 of the starters..wow! Don't ever have ribs but these fell off the bone! All excellent. Also had a free beer and shot of port for my birthday, which was a lovely touch. Can't thank katrina, 'boss man' and chef for making the night brilliant. Highly recommend, we will definitely be back, a gem of a place! 🥰

This place is great! Atmosphere is chill and cool plus Jorge is really friendly. They know what they’re doing and how to make the customers happy is their main priority. Food is pretty good, delicious portuguese classics and some twists, and for their prices it’s 100% worth it. I would like to come back here again and again.

Great place, excellent ingredients and not too mucked about with food. Combined with friendly service and good value make this my sort of place.

Visited Porto Grill as a nice mid week treat with my son. It was lovely to see the restaurant busy with families and couples. The waitress was really nice and helpful . The food was lovely . Will definitely be returning soon.

Nice place and welcoming staff nice But I am sorry had a very bad experience Food was over cooked and dry no taste Chips was cold was very disappointed as family of 8 ppl lot of money for food that was over cooked and burnt

Went for evening meal prior to lockdown2. Very welcoming staff. Good choice on the menu, asked About recommendations, and advised for particular Portuguese dishes. Didn't disappoint. I had the 'fish cakes' and then a beautiful mixed fish dish. My only suggestion for improvement would the temperature. The restaurant was a little cold, and was glad I had a pashmina with me. We will certainly be back once lockdown ends. Thank you!
