Portobello Gold Restaurant in Kensington and Chelsea

First time yesterday with friends for a big lunch and we were all very impressed. The ambience is relaxed yet uplifting, and the plant decor is very welcoming. Every member of staff was helpful and attentive. They knew the menu including wine selections well and were spot on with recommendations. We ordered a selection of dishes and it was fantastic to have different, and of course delicious, food. Everything we ordered was just perfect, many interesting dishes, and the wine was also very spot on. Really one of the best restaurants I've been to for a long time and I look forward to returning.

Seriously seriously good food + cocktails. We sat at the counter and were looked after by Martina who was AMAZING - we took all her recommendations and could not have chosen better. Order the thalassa cocktail, clementine margarita, pigeon pasta (seasonal) and blue potatoes. 10/10 for food and service. Thank you!!

Went out for a few Mojitos, but, unfortunately,not the best... shame, place must be amazing to eat there. Perhaps, will give it a second chance.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at gold Notting Hill , and I can confidently say it's one of the best Mediterranean spots I've visited. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm and inviting—soft lighting, earthy tones, and cozy seating made for a comfortable dining environment. The menu offers a beautiful variety of modern Mediterranean cuisine, with fresh ingredients and vibrant flavour's. Couldn’t ask for a better service Would definitely recommend

Really lovely restaurant, great lighting and atmosphere and incredible food

I absolutely love the atmosphere and food at Gold, and the cocktails are fantastic as well. I work nearby, so I often visit for after-work drinks-dinner. Also came late several times after 9pm for weekend dinners with friends. It’s a great spot for a great evening. That said, the service can be a bit of a letdown…. While I understand the common 2-hour table policy in London, being reminded of it every 30 minutes makes the experience feel rushed and uncomfortable. Yesterday, we ordered cocktails and asked if we could have the food after we finished our drinks. The waiter reminded the 2-hour policy and reassured us that the food would take a while to prepare, so it wouldn't arrive too soon. Yet, the food came just five minutes later. This inconsistency is frustrating, especially when you're trying to enjoy your time without being rushed and eat in our own time. We were going to order another bottle of wine being moved to the sofas, but i felt like going to another place which we feel more welcomed and we left… On another visit a couple of weeks ago, we were repeatedly asked every 15 minutes if we wanted to order more food, despite already having ordered 4 plates for 3 people and many drinks. Not everyone has to spend your average calc on food per person. If I am not too hungry, I won’t eat more-simple as that. It felt like we were being pushed, which really detracts from the laid-back vibe that should come with the place. Gold has so much potential, but the staff (&management) could benefit from being more mindful of the customer experience. A more relaxed and accommodating approach would definitely improve the overall atmosphere.

Have been looking forward to trying Gold. Much of the food is very tasty but I didn’t think overall it is good enough for the high price tag. We were informed on arrival that each dish would come one by one to share, but they then were served together. It was suggested that one orders 2-3 dishes per person, which with most priced at a main course, you end up spending a lot - I spent more than one could at Michelin starred or very accomplished Chef’s restaurants. The menu provides an extensive list of ingredients for most dishes, but does not indicate the relative quantities which creates quite a risk of disappointment if you order it because of one of the things on there. Some of the dishes were missing the advertised ingredients and then others beared no resemblance to what one hoped when ordering. That said, the overall cooking standard seemed good, albeit very high in fats. The beef agnelotti were very good. The pudding seemed basic but tasty. The service was fine, but had to wait to order and wait for the bill. The ambience of the restaurant is okay, but tableware etc is very basic. My chair was not comfortable and in poor condition, fortunately it stayed intact for the meal. The price of the wine list is high, failing to compensate for the food. If you are price insensitive, go ahead an have a very nice meal with lots of options, but if you are thinking of value, you can have more for less.

Loved their al fresco dining bit & open kitchen. Great food, though the hispi cabbage (which is a popular item of theirs) had good flavour, the extra crunch on top was a bit too salty & sandy for me - personal preference though. In terms of cost, definitely on the spennier side

Had the chance to go to Gold for a team dinner and can say that it is a solid selection for a high energy group outing. The dining room is filled with plants which creates an indoor/outdoor feel despite the space being enclosed. The menu is eclectic with a variety of shareable dishes that range across raw, vegetables and larger plates. While my group tried a variety of dishes, the grilled Prawns were a standout for me. Gold is a restaurant that works for a variety of occasions and is well worth a visit.

Well worth it!! Sampled several dishes and all had unique and flavor mixtures that were “just right.” The chicken dish was unlike many other dishes. Like buffalo chicken but not as spicy or overwhelming and texture with tomato base gave it a gourmet profile very unique.

I was very happy to dine here. The atmosphere was absolutely amazing, very chill, quiet with lovely decoration. All the food we ordered, I feel it had influences from all over the world and it was delicious. We were very happy with all our dishes. The salad was ok. The drinks and the desert wasn’t very interesting, they were flat, nothing special. But I will definitely go back. I finally found a gem. Hopefully, they will introduce more cocktails and they will make the drinks stronger. It was like having a lemonade with herbs. The staff was also exceptional. Everyone was very well mannered, smiley and polite which made our experience even more pleasant. Thank you everyone that worked on New Year’s Day between 17.30-19.30.

I actually feel bad that I have to send this review. But I felt really offended after my meal. Going inside our family was very excited to have chosen this splendid place for our New Year’s Eve meal. While the food was generally tasty and innovative, our whole experience was dampened by a particular individual. She was probably not a waitress but a “manager” of some sort standing by the serving counter in a t shirt (blond pony tail). All our dishes were served including the 2 of 3 mains. But we had to wait for a while longer for the seabream (understandable). However, when it was ready sitting on the counter, I waited patiently for it to be served. At least 5 mins went by and it was still sitting on the counter. So I asked if she could please help check on my fish and if the one on the counter was mine. What would be a typical response? Well, she replied “it will be served according to order”. So, I accepted and waited another 5 minutes while she happily continued chatting to her colleague and ignoring that the fish was still sitting on the counter. When the fish finally arrived it was lukewarm and really spoiled the whole dining experience. It’s a pity, that they have staff responding so poorly to paying customers. After this experience, we will definitely not come back again.

Delicious food! Small plates with generous portions with every bite as exceptional as the next. Incredible service - perfect private dining areas - have used both the first and second floor on different occasions and each is as perfect as the next.

Beautiful venue, amazing food, even better service. Oscar was our server and he went above and beyond with our wine recs and general convo. Can’t wait to come back!

My husband and I were in the neighborhood looking for a place for our dinner. My husband found Gold on Google Maps, and we decided to just hop in without a reservation even though it seemed like a tough spot to get in. We are so glad we did-we got bar seats right away. This restaurant is amazing, and it has a Chef’s Table vibe. It’s always exciting to watch how the magic being created in the kitchen, but it also feel comfortable, not too pretentious. We ordered a variety of food, and my favorite dish was the Whole Bream- perfectly cooked and full of flavor. Honestly, all the other dishes were delicious too, even the dessert. I will definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone I know, great food, great vibes, and wonderful experience.

What a lunch.. not enough stars to truly rate! It was exceptional.. the food was an explosion in your mouth with every bite. I’m coming back just for the roasted cauliflower. The pasta, pork and beef just delicious.

We had a lovely dinner few days ago in Gold. Everything was very good, especially the service was smooth and very kind. Only thing was that all the food came too quickly (I know, not a real problem) but you can't help to get the feeling of hurry when you are there to enjoy very good food, excellent service and great atmosphere.

Firstly, a huge shout out to Mohammed who served us on the night & provided us with a fine-dine level of service, attention & care which honestly made our evening. And despite a small error in the kitchen, he went above & beyond to compensate. Food was also incredible. Only reason I’ve given the food 4/5 stars is that the steak dish was really tough (however flavours were still so good & they kindly offered to replace the dish for us). Favorite dishes of the night were the trout cerviche, mushroom on toast, sea bass carpaccio, hispi cabbage, agnolotti & the desserts. Atmosphere was stunning. Can’t wait to come back & an absolute must go in London! Has made it into my top 3.

Honestly it is one of the best restaurant I did in my life. I don’t know what else I could say. The place is fantastic, service is perfect and the food is one of the best I’ve ever had.

Our dinner at Gold was absolutely extraordinary. It was my first visit, celebrating my friend's birthday, and I have to say, we couldn't have chosen a better place. Our server, Milan, provided exceptional care throughout the evening. From the moment we arrived, he was incredibly friendly, found us a perfect spot in their charming garden, and was extremely helpful with our drink selections. He attentively checked on everything we received, ensuring our experience was flawless. The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was impeccable. Milan truly made our night special, even surprising us with complimentary bubbles and a delightful cheesecake. It was one of the best dining experiences I can remember, and Milan certainly deserves recognition for his outstanding service.

Don't come here if you aren't particularly hungry. Everything is hearty yet delicious. Some of the simplest things were the most delicious. The bread dipped in the porcini butter (I think it was porcini) was a ten out of ten mouthful of bliss. The sauces on everything were just sensational.

Another return visit as always the food service and presentation was spot on. My only criticism, I am a Jack Daniels drinker I was in disbelief when my server told me you do not have any Jack Daniels. I asked have you run out he said we do not stock it this was the same for Jim Beam so I was disappointed. I would like to add I was very pleased to get a table downstairs by the bar which is what I requested which was a nice touch. We will see you again.

The dessert was absolutely amazing. I have never had one like this before, wondering where it originally comes from. It had cream on the top with a mix of fruits, bread and jelly inside. Loved it! Each dish comes in generous portions, and the atmosphere was just perfect. 😋🥰

I stopped by Gold for a couple of cocktails, and the atmosphere was incredible—great vibe and energy all around! I tried the House on Fire and the Banana Old Fashioned. While they were good, I was expecting a bit more complexity in the flavors; the House on Fire, in particular, felt a little flat. That said, the interior design on the ground floor is absolutely stunning, and it’s clear this place has so much more to offer. I’ll definitely be coming back to try the food soon!

A decent and cozy place to have meals with friends. The service was warm and the staff were very accommodating. The location is a prime spot close to the Portobello market, with scenic views of Notting Hill.

Happy to revisit the restaurant, the beautiful ambience as usual, dimmed light and tropical foliage made this festive season even more special, perfect for a dressed-up date night. Marco the manager was being very extremely attentive so we could have the best experience. We ordered the dishes he kindly recommended to us and they were delightful. We enjoyed the seabream as stuffed pasta and their cheesecake is a must-try also. Another visit is very much needed.

I absolutely love this place. Impeccable food, excellent service, great atmosphere. We ordered the feta and grapes salad, the mushroom toast, the braised beef short rib agnolotti, and the chargrilled steak. Everything tasted great and it was an enjoyable dining experience.

It was my second time at Gold. The ambient got me there for the first time, so I returned. This second time (Friday), what got me was the service. Ioanna (who served us – me and my friend) was incredible. Very attentive and kind and gave us the best experience ever. I am a little picky with service, and Ioanna ticked all the boxes regarding what I consider an excellent service. Thank you, Ioanna, for improving our experience beyond a lovely environment. It is definitely a service hard to find nowadays in London.

Amazing food & lovely staff. We went for lunch and the ambiance was great. Food was absolutely delicious. My favourite was the braised beef agnolotti & Tuscan sausage.

I came here several years ago when they first opened and was really happy with the food. I came back again last night and I’m pleased to say they’re better than I remember. My date and I enjoyed a perfectly light meal of 2 veggie dishes and a whole bream. The brown sugar pavlova was to die for. Our waitress had a really lovely, calm vibe and I like how we weren’t pressured into over-ordering so many small plates. Also noted the nice nonalcoholic drink options, I enjoyed a really refreshing virgin Paloma that tasted very fresh, not syrupy or sweet.

I just popped in for pre dinner drink & was so impressed with the super friendly staff - I chatted briefly to Cameron who made me feel at home instantly! The spicy margarita was perfection & I was enchanted! Will definitely be back for food!

Refreshingly adventurous food and well managed service. Serving sizes are generous and the dishes can be fairly rich…best for staff to recommend fewer dishes per person and people can always order more…otherwise it can feel quite wasteful.

I dined in this restaurant in July, and I must say that the environment is really welcoming. The dimmed lights create a warm and intimate environment. The personnel is very attentive and professional, the waiters are friendly and fast even with the busy restaurant, the food is very tasty, especially the chicken with nduja that reminded me my country Italy. Very nice the sharing concept, great for a meal with friends or your partner. Next time that I'll come in London I'll surely pay a visit again.

Busy restaurant. We were seated upstairs on a very dark table. Service was good to start with. Once the food came it arrived far too fast, we had 4 of our 5 dishes served in less than 10 minutes. The fourth dish was placed on top of another dish as there was insufficient room on our table for it. We had to ask them to slow down with the service and delay the final dish coming out. We were there for dinner not fast food. We had high expectations for the meal, the food however didn't live up to it. The salad was good. The cauliflower dish was cold & far too much yoghurt. The mushrooms on toast were okay but a bit too earthy for us. The beef short rib dish was lovely but as it was the forth dish to come out, it started to go cold as there was simply too much food delivered to us at once. The final dish, chicken with nudja was awful. Soggy toast on far too rich tomato spicy sauce. A let down. The super fast delivery of food really spoilt the whole night.

I absolutely loved it there! It is a beautiful restaurant with an incredible and romantic atmosphere, and the service and food was absolutely superb. I'll return many times for sure!

I really enjoyed dining in this restaurant. The entrance faces Portobello Road, which hosts the antique market, and for this reason the location is already a 10. The atmosphere matches perfectly the location, and inside you can see the chefs working, plus there's a great bar too! On my visit, the service and the food were impeccable! Definitely deserves a visit if you are in Notting Hill! Would recommend to try their Pineapple Paloma on their cocktails selection, and many of their great vegetables. I tried the cauliflower among others and was super!

I’ve been to Gold before in the spring and the food was outstanding, loved every dish we got. Went with a larger group last night for a friends birthday and the food was absolutely appalling, it was bland and some of the dishes were soggy and just very unpleasant. Pretty much all the smaller sized dishes were a disappointment. I will give credit for the sea bream, picanha and the desserts which were the best part of the dinner. Also the restaurant is way too overbooked, the tables are too close together and it’s kind of an uncomfortable setting. I’m disappointed in the quality of the food going downhill since my last visit but hope you can pick it back up

Words can't describe how much me and my wife enjoyed this restaurant. The atmosphere is great, and the food is fresh and bursting with flavours. The service was great, our Italian waiter helped us understanding the menu and gave us some great recommendations (if you like strong flavours try their chicken!). The location is optimal to enjoy a walk after the dinner. Will definitely come back!

Such a lovely dinner date experience. The food is fresh and great quality, and the atmosphere in the back patio is amazing. There is comfortable seating (a bit close together), with great natural light coming in around golden hour. I highly recommend the ambiance for good conversation with a partner or small group. The plates are all delicious with a fun twist, some flavor combinations are interesting and some are classic. I highly recommend the chargrilled scarlet prawns, the beef short rib agnolotti, squid ink tagliarini, watermelon salad, burrata salad, and carpaccio. You won’t regret it.

I had, not just a good, but an incredible fabulous lunch here. If I could give 10 stars I would! Creative small plates, hats off to the chef who imagined combining so many different ingredients in each dish. Every bite of each dish ordered exploded with flavor. This place is special and should not be missed.

Food was good but the desserts were disappointing. The vibe inside is really nice so I’d probably just go for drinks. The service was terrible, very slow then random people were coming out with the food wondering which table it belongs too. It was my birthday and my friends asked for a candle twice which then they turned up with after we were half way through the dessert lol

We went to Gold for dinner to celebrate our anniversary, seeking a romantic setting, and the restaurant exceeded our expectations. The atmosphere is incredibly cosy, making it perfect for a romantic night as well as an evening of drinks with friends. The food was exquisite, and the presentation of the dishes was spectacular. Despite the language barrier, the service was very friendly and attentive. Gold will definitely be a must-visit for us on future trips to Notting Hill!

The food was good! BUT, the service was impeccable! I am just flabbergasted how friendly, accomodating and patient the team were. We dealt with multiple members of staff and I just have praise for all of them. We were tricky group of guests with our dietary requirements, million questions, specific requests and all the staff were amazing. I also needed somewhere to pray and they personally took me to a private space and gave me a soft blanket to use. Honestly, 10/10 and definitely going back!

Food is so nice and the service is amazing. Waitresses are so friendly and atmosphere is beautiful. However one of the managers is so rude and unprofessional and ruined my experience.

One of our favourite restaurants in London. We went on Saturday 12th October - one of the friendliest and most professional managers we’ve encountered. Super recommended!

The menu is fantastic! Every dish was a winner but especially the fig and ricotta on toast and the chicken dish! The puddings also fab - get the semifreddo! So yummy. The vibe is great too, it can be a little loud, but perfect for a fun night out or a date. We had been to a party beforehand so didn't get drinks this time, but their spicy margarita is one of the best in London.

The food here is nothing short of indulgent, with each dish bursting with rich, vibrant flavors. Fan favourites include the decadent cabbage drenched in savoury anchovy sauce and the chicken, coated in a bold, fiery Nduja sauce. All of this is enjoyed in a chic, Tulum-like atmos!

Lovely ambience, delicious short rib dish. Inventive and yummy veg dishes. We most enjoyed the roasted red onion and also fig and ricotta toast. Pork meatballs and spinach salad were good but probably wouldn’t order those again.

So glad we stumbled across this place, it was amazing! One of the dishes we had, the truffle spaghetti squash was so delicious had us scrapping out every last bit. The staff were so attentive and really enjoyed the open kitchen :)

Our waiter, Vlad, was not only attentive but incredibly warm and welcoming, which, as visitors from NYC, we didn’t expect based on our other experiences in London. And the manager Marco, made us feel right at home. If you’re searching for a place that delivers on all fronts—flavor, ambiance, and hospitality—this is it. We left with full hearts and even fuller stomachs. Highly recommended!

What a lovely experience! Our waitress couldn't do enough for us and was very hospitable when I realised I hadn't been aware my friend was gluten free. Our waitress was very helpful and wasn't at all phased by the need for a gluten free adaptation to our menu. Thank you so much for accommodating us - we thoroughly enjoyed our time and the service and ambience was perfect. You made us both feel very special.

Thé food used to be better . Our group found a bit oily and some portions were not welll presented like the mushroom toast . The sugar pavlova though was really good . Iin terms of The ambiance still is nice . ⭐️ S

Wow, what a gem of a place. Delicious food, flawless service and a fabulous vibe. We had the trout ceviche, beef carpaccio, grilled squid and roasted aubergine.

Food is delicious. Drinks are excellent. Mario was an amazing, attentive, friendly waiter who really made our evening. A must visit!
