Puraan was set up at my child's primary school for their annual Christmas fair this year . Despite the weather being cold and grey with the added drizzle , I can surely say that the food items presented were delicious and fresh ! Not only was the food amazing but the staff serving were so kind and generous. Be sure to check them out . Their restaurant is located in Turnpike Lane N8 . The best restaurant for vegan and vegetarian food.The dishes are cooked fresh and very scrumptious.We regularly visit Puraan and never got disappointed. The price is quite reasonable. My children are delighted to have the delectable desserts.

First time eating here with my partner and what a gem we've found. Very friendly welcome and helpful, amiable service throughout. The food was brought quickly and was delicious - Authentic Southern Indian dishes full of flavour, not oily. There was an error with an extra dish we didn't order and we weren't charged, even though it was just an easy misunderstanding. A nice gesture on top of an already positive experience. The bill was very fair as well. We will definitely be returning soon. Highly recommended. Tip: Bring your own booze if you want an alcoholic beverage.

Firstly, I want to express my gratitude to Puraan for being one of the best and most authentic South Indian restaurants I've ever visited in London. It has become my favorite spot to satisfy my taste buds. I often travel from Ealing Broadway to dine here, even though there are closer options for Indian food in Wembley. Puraan offers something unique that stands out from the rest. The food is always freshly prepared, and the authenticity is unmatched. The kitchen is clean and, importantly, they do not use any artificial colors in their dishes. Unfortunately, it's quite common for many Indian restaurants to use artificial coloring in their food preparation nowadays. If you're looking for truly authentic South Indian cuisine, I highly recommend visiting Puraan, which is just a 2-minute walk from Turnpike tube station.

Excellent South Indian food with authentic, vibrant flavours. Their dosas are huge and great value. Service is friendly and genuine. The BYOB policy makes prices even more reasonable. A local classic!

Pleasantly surprised by the food here. I have never had a great experience with Indian cuisine. However, fairly recently, my friend convinced me to meet here, saying it was absolutely delicious and on top of it vegetarian. She was right. I loved the crispy okra and the curry, but the okra was my top top. I can't remember the names of all the dishes we had, but everything was fantastic. I'm a fan of indian food now!? The service was top notch. Perhaps a cocktail menu would be a good idea. It can seem slightly pricey for the area, but honestly, it's just that. Considering the food quality I assume they actually use good ingredients and quality comes with a price naturally. At central London this place could charge double and no one would bat an eye.

A little oasis of fabulous food, excellent service and a lovely atmosphere. Unlike most restaurants, Puraan does not have loud music blaring so you can actually have a conversation! Their service is always fantastic - the staff are friendly, knowledgeable and always smiling. As for the food, no other local restaurant from South Asia comes even close - it's authentic, delicious and fresh! I am so lucky to have Puraan in my neighbourhood because it is a little piece of home away from home and it feeds my nostalgia! :)

All the good reviews are not wrong. Great food, roughly 1/3 of the menu was vegan, and some gluten free, but not only. The bread and the dosa were just so delicious with the crunchy veg and spicy sauces. Great value as we spent just over £40 for two (without drinks, we just had water). I'll definitely be back and south Indian cuisine is becoming my new favourite!

Three of us the Sunday Special Thali and it was delicious. Two of us asked for spicy and one asked for mild. Came exactly as ordered. Full of flavour. Lots of dishes - 7 plus poppadom and chapatti. Lovely waiter who came from Kerala. Pleasant atmosphere and clean. Price £14.95 per Special Thali - an ordinary weekday Thali £9.95.

A good place to go if you want to Kerala food - but limited to vegetarian. Many specialties of Kerala, like aappam, kerala parotta, Idiyappam, Malabar Eddo Curry, typical Keralite brand of rasam etc, which one cannot eeasily get in other Indian restaurants, are on the menu. They do serve some north India dishes as well, but their main thrust is on typical Kerala food. Worth a visit.

Updating my review after my second visit for the Keralan festival where we were served the banana leaf feast. Overall this place is great, traditional South Indian cuisine. I recommended the banana leaf experience, it was great to learn and experience something new. The atmosphere was also great. I probably wouldn’t do it again though. However, I’d go back again and again for the dosa.

Had a great meal at Puraan, a local gem with well-presented food and BYO - soft drinks options did look good though... We were lucky to get a table as a walk-in on a lively Friday night for our first visit. Been back many times since, including for special buffet events, and most recently on a Sunday for the special thali (Sundays only) - did not disappoint! Friendly welcome and attentive service every time. Great flavours - spicing is great.

Great indian food but a bit expensive. I also felt that their portion size is small.

Everything we had was delicious and fresh! Tasty soup and spicy gobi with poppadums to start followed by a masala dosa and special dosa (with beetroot.. yum!). After a small moment of rest we had chai and dark chocolate sorbet which was also great!

Food is great. Pricing is very good too. But the menu is dangerous. Many things labelled as vegan came with non-vegan sauces. Having to ask are you sure this is vegan when it arrives only to be told "don't eat that bit" is really is not acceptable. If someone had a dairy allergy for instance they could be harmed - you would fairly assume that someone would not be checking vegan dishes for dairy. Message to management: you need to fix your menu urgently. Message to customers: double check with the waiter that all the accompaniments are vegan.

Have had a few meals here, always the most friendly service, food so tasty and authentic, great prices. Had the thali lunch today - delicious, would highly recommend. This restaurant is not one to miss!

Really delicious food and a relaxing atmosphere 💕

This place is an absolute gem! Dishes are much lighter and fresher than at your usual curry place. The samosas have a delicate, glassy *crunch*, and come with a tangy chilli sauce. The biryani is a new favourite of mine: made with fresh green veg (perfectly cooked) and herby-minty notes. I'd be remiss not to mention the brinjal mojo: tangy and chewy - almost like a richly spiced caramel. Honestly, I've tried about half of the menu and there's nothing I haven't enjoyed. Service is quick and attentive and the staff are really friendly - clearly very proud of their establishment. I'd recommend either eating in or ordering over the phone to take away!

Soo yummy and authentic. Recommend the juice, bread fruit curry and parotta! Rasam was very spicy and flavoursome. A true gem! And lovely customer service Kaveri who served us.

Tremendous dishes filled with aromatic notes and natural fragrance. Each dish feels expertly crafted to maximise taste and bring out the rich notes of the ingredients. If you want something good that's filled with a relaxing atmosphere, this place comes highly recommended.

Fabulous South Indian food (some of it street food), vegetarian and vegan, at very reasonable prices. The menu helpfully explains each dish, in case people are unfamiliar with the names. Everything is cooked using fresh ingredients, so lots of interesting and subtle flavours. Three of us ordered dosas, and when they arrived, each was folded in a different and attractive shape - and were the biggest dosas I've seen :-D Lovely and attentive staff, one of whom spent some time chatting to us, asking if we'd been to Puraan before (no, but some local friends had recommended it); had any of us been to Kerala (yes, one of our group had); told us about Kerala, its Hindu, Christian and Muslim communities and its unique cuisine. This didn't feel like a forced or fake 'have a nice day' politeness, but rather, a genuine conversation with a friendly and likeable chap. Prices were very good value for such delicious food and decent-sized portions - we shall be returning soon!

I've walked by this restaurant so many times and promised I'd visit one day, and I'm glad I did. The service was great, I was greeted straight away, and the staff were so smiley. I had the chole masala, rice & appam bread, and it was so fresh and got from the kitchen. The flavours! This is a hidden gem in Turnpike Lane. Can I also mention how clean the toilets are which is so important to me. Highly recommend & I'll definitely be back!

Fantastic food! Reminds me of my year I spent in Kerala. The masala dosa is a safe bet- looks big but enough for one. Or you could share that and order more food! I highly recommend the idiyappam, bread fruit curry and, for a lil desert, payasam. We also got thevroti. Yum. All of it was well prepared and pretty authentic. Missing black mustard seed and curry leaves (probably difficult to obtain here) but still very delicious. I would go out of my way to come back to this place. Idlli and sambar would be the next thing I’d like to get. Service was great. Reasonable prices.

Wanted to try this places for a long time and today decided to give it a chance, passed by to order some dishes to take away. The atmosphere of the place is really nice and the staff was super welcoming! Only took around ten minutes to have my order ready and they flew by. The food was absolutely amazing, really liked it and for sure will return/order from them again. Truly recommend

I had a great dining experience at Puraan. The food was very authentic and flavourful. The sambar and chutneys were perfect accompaniments, elevating the taste of the overall dish. The service was equally impressive. The staff were attentive, friendly and very welcoming.

Wholesome vegetarian food bursting with flavours. The service is top class complemented by friendly and helpful staff. A must try for anyone fancying vegetarian food or for the meat lover who wants to try something truly different.

This is actually a 3.7 stars although I put 4 stars. Reason being is the FOOD is prepared with Cleanliness and CARE. The chefs are very courteous of customers and work really hard. The food is delicious however this doesn’t belong anywhere near 5 stars because of the HARMFUL seed oils being used in cooking (name of the oil is “pride cooking oil” mixed with corn oil, soybean oil and canola oil) this is why I STOPPED eating here, as it is harmful oil to use for customers especially at such a CLEAN, honest restaurant.

Great vegetarian restaurant, with excellent quality dishes and intriguing menu. Loved my Ishtu and Appam, as well as their incredible parotta. Ended it with the best cup of comforting chai. I can be hard to please when eating out, but Puraan ticks all the boxes for me

This is a cracking restaurant. The style is pretty basic but it's relaxed and comfortable. Food is amazing and the staff are lovely and friendly. Good value also and a decent range of choices on the menu, but not too many to be annoying. Would highly recommend the fried okra and the chickpea curry, but it was all very tasty. We'll be back!

We met at this amazing gem with a friend. The service was great and the food was delicious!

My wife and I had a VERY nice lunch here. The dosas are huge (although the filling is only towards the centre so the portion looks bigger than it is, but it's enough) and very nice. The food tastes very fresh (unlike some places I've been to where you can tell it was made a while ago). I didn't enjoy the starter so much, I can't remember the name but it had broken up Bombay mix type noodles sprinkled on top which I found odd. They tasted nice though, it was more the texture. I'll probably have the spring rolls or samosas next time although I'd like to try the soup at some point. I'm not knocking a point off for food as the dosa was so good, and the starter was probably how it's supposed to be done just not to my personal taste. I have knocked a point off for atmosphere just because it felt a bit quiet for 1pm on a Friday. I hope they get more customers in the evening as it deserves to do well given the quality of the food. Top tip: If you haven't had one before choose a mango lhassi for your drink, I love them! Ask for tap water as well or you'll have drunk it before the food arrives. To be aware, parking in the area is quite restricted due to the tube station being nearby. Many bays are residents only but there are some you can pay per 15m. It costs more nearer the station so we parked on one of the roads off Turnpike Lane further up. I couldn't find a machine to pay cash. Don't try and phone the number on the sign to pay it's impossible!! You should download the app and do it through there.
