Walked in, served straight away Food was 5* and service great

The food was disappointing. We visited with a group of four and spent £140, but the dishes lacked flavor and spice. Everything was quite mild, and the dal was especially bland. We ordered two meat platters, one paneer salsik, rogan josh, and shere khan, but none of them were impressive. Hopefully, the quality of the food improves in the future.

Delicious, will come again next time. Their mutton is very good and large in quantity. The curry has a herbal flavor, I like it very much

Authentic Bangladeshi food. Used to frequent this restaurant when I was a PhD student in Cambridge (sometimes came at least once a week to the point that the owner recognized me). Nostalgic about this place. Hope the owner is still there and running the place.

Used to grabbing a quick sit-down dinner of a curry dish with rice a couple of times a week. The Raja’s has nearly been my cafeteria here in Cambridge with food as nice as always. Happy 2025 to him and staff working here.

I came here with my family and as soon as we walked through the door, we were greeted with a warm welcome from all the staff. The atomousphere in the resturant was busy yet not crowded, and the staff frequently came round to each table to check on you, whether your food had enough spice and whether you needed anything. The food was impeccable, and clearly had a lot of effort put into each dish. Our waiter was very friendly, and chatted to us at the end of our meal. Overall, our experience at Raja was brilliant, and we will be recommending it to our friends and family👍

Raja is a gem, we’ve been coming here for years. The owner Mr Raja is a wonderful man, he looks after my elderly dad when he comes and treats everyone well. Looking forward to the next dinner with my dad!

Service was good, although I asked if I could have a little green chilli added to my lamb chop main dish, which was confirmed but didn't happen. The food was quite pleasant, but portions quite small. Price was acceptable for middle of cambridge.

An excellent Indian gem in the heart of Cambridge. We are Canadian, and in Western Canada the Indian food scene is still very much growing. It's light years ahead in the UK so the bar is pretty high, but Raja definitely rises to the challenge. The food was fabulous, very very flavorful, fresh and nicely presented. The whole tandoor chicken is a must, and it seemed like every table ordered it. I wouldn't have cooked it quite as thoroughly, but it was absolutely delicious. All of the staff were super friendly and helpful and wonderful to chat with. It'll definitely be on our "got to go to" list

Small friendly place. Food was good and service was accommodating and attentive. I tried to order a low ABV beer but they had run out. The manager went out to get some. Although by that time I’d ordered something else I appreciated the effort!

Visited the Raja for an early pre-Christmas meal. Although it was 6.30pm on a Friday, the restaurant wasn't yet full but had a pleasant atmosphere. The food was excellent and the Afghani Lamb and the aubergine fries were particularly good. We will definitely be ordering those again!

A great menu and excellent food, we really enjoyed our meal here. The staff were very friendly and professional. We were running late and I called to warn them and apologise and they were really helpful and didn't pressure us at all, even when we were further delayed trying to park. Our experience at Raja was the best we could have hoped for. Immediately we were greeted with warm welcomes and big smiles and then had some of the best Indian food yet. Highly recommend the Thali dish to get a good sense of different Indian dishes! Thank you so much Raja!!

Small and quiet but nice atmosphere, butter chicken curry and the house chutneys are great. The staff and friendly and can have a laugh. Price isn’t bad either.

I wanted to like it after I saw it advertised in a food blog, but it needs improvement. A bit inconvenient that they close almost mid lunch so can't get served or Service feels rushed. Closing at 2pm... A bit early, I think. The thali, is advertised as a 7 item dish but I say it is more like 3-4 small portion items with a few extras. Poppadoms are not even a starter in my opinion so, this is not worth the price. Taste was OK, not sure I will rush to go back.

Wonderful Indian cuisine, with enough spice to tickle your tastebuds, important for Malaysian 😊 the Briyani was nice as well as the butter chicken.

Absolutely recommended!! Visiting Cambridge and stumbled across this little jewel. A chap coming out of the restaurant highly recommended the Fuchka and we weren't disappointed. Everything we chose was absolutely delicious. A wonderful meal, reasonably priced (and we're from the north!) that will be remembered for years to come. Staff were very welcoming and couldn't be more helpful.

We are delighted to have discovered this restaurant - the food is so good, and the staff super friendly and efficient. I have a hard time with spice, and all the dishes can be made mild with no trouble. I haven't seen some of the dishes in any other Indian restaurant - and they are all good! The decor is lovely as well - very airy and our group didn't feel crowded at all.

Probably my favourite restaurant in Cambridge. Raja low key slaps. Incredible selection of gluten and dairy free. The Afghani lamb is an absolute treat that takes you on a journey through time and space. Pair this with a few onion bhaji and chicken pakora, and you will find yourself in a place of utter happiness. Raja’s are absolutely delightful, and I really enjoy chatting with them whenever I come in

Raja is amazing. It's definitely one of my favourite restaurants in Cambridge, I keep coming back. The service is fantastic; they are so obliging to modify dishes, especially to be gluten and dairy free. The food is exceptional. I have been making my way through the menu, and yet to find something that's not delicious. Take away from Raja is also great, but nothing beats eating at the restuarant.

We have been coming to the Raja for years and they never disappoint. Service is always very polite and very quick, and the staff are lovely. Food is great with a variety of regular curries and a huge menu of specials. They even sponsored our football team and gave us free cake for a friend’s bday!

One of the worst experiences ever. The samosa was burnt at first. Then the food portions we ordered were not served all at once until we called the manager and said this is only for 4 people when we were 8 and we ordered 2 portions each one “serving 4 people”. Then later on the food we ordered was very simple and not tasty, and we got charged at first £63 for 2 dishes of lamb Biryani which actually came missing the side served with it (dhall) and on the menu it is for £13 something. How is it possible to get charged that much for 2 dishes that should be maximum £30-32. Similarly with the chicken Biryani that was not on the menu and we were never told that it wasn’t there when of our guests asked for it and it will be charged this amount, he decided to charge us £59 for it. Then the restaurant added other things we didn’t order in our bill. They changed the bill 3 times for us and went down from £272 to £180 due to so many mistakes. However, the manager raised his voice and shouted at me, and decided to talk my male friend instead of me saying he doesn’t want to argue with me as i was a female. I was like i am the one paying and this is absolutely unacceptable. He tried apologizing afterwards saying oh i want you to be a customer, forgive me. Anyway check your bill guys before paying, even though i do not recommend the place at all. Very unpleasant experience in front of my guests.

We’ve been coming to the Raja for years and absolutely love it — the staff are very friendly and accommodating and always provide great service and a chat, and the food is excellent. I particularly like the Mother India and the range of starters, and all of the classic curries are great quality as well. The atmosphere is cozy and stylish and it’s a great place to book for a special occasion such as a birthday.

We recently revisited Raja, an Indian restaurant that we hadn't been to since our uni years, and we are thrilled to report that it is still as phenomenal as we remembered. From the moment we sat down and started our meal with crispy, perfectly seasoned poppadoms, we knew we were in for a treat. The korma was nothing short of exquisite – creamy, rich, and bursting with flavor. Paired with their coconut rice, which was simply to die for, the combination made for an unforgettable dining experience. Every bite was a reminder of why this place has remained a favorite over the years. Without a doubt, Raja deserves a perfect 10/10.

Excellent food, especially the beef with fenugreek, portions are large! Wasn't keen on the poppadom deluxe but maybe that's just our taste. Couldn't fault it otherwise. Would definitely return / recommend.

A lovely family run Indian restaurant with great food, lovely service and a very pleasant atmosphere. The food is every bit as good as the famous Rusholme curry mile (sadly now largely defunct) if not better. We will definitely come here again.

Friendly staff and amazing food

Simple setting but the food is excellent. We rediscovered some Indian classics but with a twist and so subtle flavors. The stuffed naans were perfectly cooked (crispy outside still smooth inside) with excellent chutneys. The service was excellent inclusive of good advice and complementary dessert Our best indian experience for quite sometimes. Can only recommend Raja for all those reasons.

Ordered from here on the 1st May. Food previously had been good in previous order. This time mint and mango chutney were missing and my coconut rice had been replaced with onion rice. Not impressed at all, especially as i dont like onion rice so my curry had no rice for it to go with, surely these things should be checked before sending out. Order #4928 deliveroo.
