Came here for a birthday meal with my partner, both the service and food were excellent. The stall all extremely polite and they couldn't have done enough for us. Special shout out for Sifu who was very friendly and made sure we were totally satisfied with our experience. Thank you, we will definitely be returning!

Absolutely fantastic traditional Indian cuisine with a unique twist! One of the best Indian restaurants in the country, would highly recommend.

Our first visit, a romantic meal for my wife and I. Growing up in Bradford, I am no stranger to Asian cuisine and so for me, the bar is set very high. I could go on about the friendly welcoming atmosphere, the ambiance, the clean well presented restaurant, the absolutely excellent food, but really all I need to say is this: We now have a new favourite restaurant. Not just favourite Indian restaurant, but favourite restaurant full stop.

The service was incredible and the food was sensational. Easy to get to with the Sat Nav. We got a free alcoholic drink at the end. They couldn’t have been friendlier especially Sifu our waiter. They went out of their way to make a table in the bar area because I’m disabled. I want to recommend.have a look at their website. Fantastic.

We had never been to Raval’s before, there were 9 family members celebrating an 80th birthday. The restaurant was beautiful, the hospitality was fantastic and the food was exceptional. What more can I say, this restaurant takes Indian cuisine to a completely different level. We will most definitely be returning and very soon!

Went there with my fam (9 folks) Christmas Eve. Sensational food, service and all around vibes. Short walk across the Tyne from our hotel. 10/10 would recommend!

Another great visit. Great server this Saturday evening. Didn’t catch his name but young Geordie lad. The Tandoori salmon was fantastic-another great dish to add to the ones I have tried. Always really tasty and lovely atmosphere.

On entry we were greeted and asked to sit in the bar area whilst our table was being prepared. Our drinks order was taken as well as our food order also. Within 10 mins we were shown to our table with our poppadoms and dips waiting for us. The dips were quite different to what is normally served, such as a carrot and mustard dip but all your usual favourites such as lime pickle etc are also available to order. We then had the Lobster and mango starter which was really nice but came with two pots of relish which the starters really did not need and were not used. For our mains we ordered a chicken Jalfrezi, a chicken tikka masala and a Nilgiri chicken Saag which were all delicious The sauce of the curries was the perfect consistency and velvety smooth not to mention tasted unbelievable. The chicken tikka masala was a little spicy and the waiter informed us all the ingredients were made with no additives such as sugars. To accompany the curries we ordered steamed rice and a garlic naan and a Gwalior Nan (similar to a peshwari Nan. The service was polite without being over attentive and a great meal was had.

Very good food and not just your standard curry house offerings. Service is spot on as well Well worth a visit

Thoroughly disappointed .Service wasn't great , staff didn't seem to know what they were doing .Pint of lager served with ice in , was replaced when we complained. Ordering food was chaotic - waiter confusing himself as to what was on the early bird menu .Food itself was nothing special. Ordered a spiced rum with ice .Two waiters came back to table to check this then returned with what I think was bicardi , white rum ! .Will not be returning!

This place is rated top Indian restaurant outside of London i think they must have given them there selfes. Very cold place Space heaters planted all a round the place toilets have cob webs all over when I mentioned this to the man in charge he asked us to leave

Fantastic Indian food, really explodes with flavour. Nice gin menu & wide choice of beers to accompany it as well. Staff are great here, attentive but discreet: Safi asked to be mentioned by name, so got gotta respect that. Would definitely recommend & we'll be back for sure.

We had a wonderful eating experience at Raval! From the greeting upon arrival, to ordering and eating our meal, the service and attention to detail was fantastic. Everyone was lovely, and the general chat added to our enjoyment of the evening after our shopping trip to the Metrocentre. As lovers of good food in welcoming eateries we will definitely return to Raval the next time we come down from Scotland! Thank you all!

I've just returned from a meal here with my girlfriend. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel so, so welcome. The staff we absolutely incredible. We ordered the Royal Platter which they presented as multiple courses and they were so kind to add some complimentary poppadoms with the most delicious pickle trays I've ever had. They also very kindly provided some complimentary rice and garlic naan to accompany our meal. These all complemented the meal spectacularly. When the main event arrived, spread out in a manner where we could really enjoy it, it was stunning. The lobster tasted fresh and because it was a young lobster, the meat just melted. The meats were also good. If I had any complaint at all, it is that the seekh kebabs seemed a little overcooked. That said, the flavours were still delicious. We debated whether we could fit a dessert in. I raised my penchant for gulab jamun at the table and when it was the first thing the lovely waiter suggested, we immediately decided to share a portion. They were served hot with ice-cream and it was delectable and just right to finish off our meal. This is my new favourite restaurant in Tyne and Wear and we will definitely be returning. It's also somewhere that I'll be proud to bring business colleagues!

Nice environment and location too Food is really awesome

Dined in at Raval tonight the food was delicious, the service however was very poor, waited so long after our meal 35minutes no one asked if we wanted a desert or coffee or even a drink refill and no one to ask, we ended by going to the bar for our bill. Such a pity, spoiled our night.

Wow! Arrived and was welcomed by the owner, invited to have a seat and offered dips and pompoms, all freshly made - different and delicious, enjoyed drinks and was then taken to our table. The restaurant is beautifully designed and decorated, calm ambiance. Pre dinner meal was excellent- 2 courses £18.95 Would certainly recommend, well worth all the prestigious awards they have. Wowza.... From entering to leaving, absolutely wondetful, prepare yourself for a very special Indian treat, not at all like a curry house, more an experience of quality individually cooked food. Amazing dips, never had carrot and mustard... But you must. Go here and be overwhelmed by the food, the service, the venue, a true gem.

Extremely warm welcome from the owner even after we rang to delay our booking. It was a fraction chilly so he moved us without hesitation and plugged in an additional heater for next to our table! The service was prompt and very friendly and the food was delicious . Home made pickles with popadoms followed by lamb Passanda and lamb Karachi - they made me a doggy bag as couldn’t eat all of mine so excited to eat tomorrow! Highly recommend!

We arrived and was told sit in the lobby and order our food before being moved to a table but was lied to saying they getting table ready cos when we was took to table loads of tables was already ready when ordering we waited and waited as we didn’t start on starters as as we was gonna eat the Onion bhaji with the main course and we kept being petered is everything ok is their any issues etc when they bought the meals one meal was incorrect as my mate wanted chicken tikka main dry pieces not the sauce and they bought the wrong one they even got the wrong wine and wrong gin over plus after eating few hours later we got a upset stomach and had the craps I don’t recommend this place very rude staff even when they offered us a drink for the birthday as they didn’t have monkey 47 gin they brought a different one over when I pointed out you should of come over and said you had ran out of it instead of replacing it but in end they did but still extremely rude and very disrespectful and unprofessional and the ceiling as damp patches

No loud music and no attempt to cramp in as many tables as possible. The host was pleasant and polite. The service was great. Raita, mango lassi, naan, tandoori roti, and steamed rice had an excellent and genuine taste. Seekh Kabab was a bit dry but not bad. Kaza Lamb Karahi was not bad but lacked a bit of depth in the taste of meat, but the base curry was lovely. Maybe it is my too-discerning Indian palate...I enjoyed the G & T. I hope the owner would consider installing some beer taps rather than just stocking bottled beer. Also, please consider adding some pale ales, as there are many good ones. Thank you.

First time visiting as recommended by family and I wasn't disappointed. Staff lovely and friendly from the moment we walked through the door. Lovely decor. The food was absolutely fantastic and I loved every mouthful, pickle tray was incredible, not your normal Indian style, mango chutney, lime pickle and watery Cucumber dip. Cannot recommended this place enough. Most definitely a hidden gem and well worth a visit. Will definitely be returning very soon.

Food and staff are warm friendly and efficient.

Went with my daughter and we had a great evening. We were greeted at the door and had a seat in the lounge area. Our drinks arrived and we were offered a trio of sharing dips which were delicious. We ordered our food and were shown to our table. For starters we shared Agra Onion Bhajia and the Daja Chana Chaat. Delicious. We ordered the Nawabi Lamb Passanda and the Adoori Chicken Korma with House Pilau and Naan bread. The flavours were fantastic and the meat so tender. If your in Newcastle or Gateshead you must visit Raval. First class food and service. Highly recommended.

We very much enjoyed our visit. We saw the restaurant week menu online and really wanted to give it a try. I did expect smaller portions on a set menu however this was not the case. The fish bites were amazing- just the right level of crisp with the sauce. The Fish curry was so flavoursome. Husband said the lamb was so soft and tender. The service was excellent as always. A really lovely dining experience- not the sort of place where the food is thrown at you- you can tell it is cooked to order. Thanks for a great meal.

Tip drawer Indian restaurant with great presentation, attentive staff, delicious spicy food (not oily or greasy) and a really good menu. Easily the best I’ve had in Newcastle - I’ll be back!

Only people in Nice food but got charged a service charge and they charged 4.00 for yoghurt because my food was spicy.

I found the food to be authentic, and could even beat some of the really good restaurants back in India as well. The blend of spices with the meat and bread is heavenly! If I happen to go back to Newcastle, visit to Raval is a given!

First visit and we will be back.

Booked this restaurant after Googling wheelchair friendly places in Gateshead. Could not recommend enough. Emailed ahead to say we had a wheelchair and we were greeted by the friendly team with the door held open, a spacious table on the ground floor ready for us, and signposted to where the disabled toilets were. They took our wet coats to hang, and put us at ease straight away. They even checked which cutlery we’d prefer so my mam could eat easier. Staff checked in on us and food was delicious, and came quickly. It’s not always a pleasant experience eating out when you have a parent in a wheelchair who needs support to eat, but this place made the experience a dream. Will definitely come back next time we eat out.

We came for a meal prior to a Lulu concert. The restaurant is very handy for the Glasshouse. We were greated and had a champagne while ordering our excellent meal. Great service, friendly staff and an excellent meal I'm sure we'll be back

The food is seriously good here. Lahore fish bites, tandoori prawns, chicken jalfrezi, dal, gulab jamun, all on point, great layers of flavour. Service good. If only they'd turn the lights on!

Excellent food although a mistake was made when one of our party was given an incorrect dish. Staff were very apologetic though. Would definitely go again.

We booked at short notice for an early evening meal, prior to a (marvellous) concert at the nearby Glasshouse concert hall. My husband's allergy to garlic is a major problem in all too many restaurants, but not here. How come? Because they really do cook to order here, so he thoroughly enjoyed two excellent, specially prepared dishes. What a treat! We'll certainly be visiting Raval again...

Visited on a Wednesday evening and the service was attentive and friendly. Atmosphere was very pleasant in a very nice setting just off the Tyne Bridge. There is plenty of parking close by, walking distance to Gateshead Metro Station. Walking distance to other good bars such as mircrobus and central for a drink before or after. Food wise, thick curry’s packed with flavour. Food is piping hot and glass window allows a peak into kitchen to see chefs preparing food. Manager added personal touch during visit which was nice whilst taking parents out.

Customer service second to none, well played Alam. Very rarely do i feel refreshed by a warm welcoming gentleman to be made to feel in safe hands, not forced hospitality it was in his nature and rolled of the tongue. All food was delicious and freshly made I could taste the flavours bursting out of the food, wait time wasn't bad either. Had a lovely evening with the Mrs and left with full bellies, will return in the near future. Thanks again, James and jade.

Situated half way between the car park we use and The Glasshouse, this place is a real find. It's a little above your usual Indian restaurant cuisine standard and we were made to feel very welcome by the friendly staff. The food was excellent and the atmosphere equally so. Next time we are in the area for a concert, this is where we will go - again. Highly recommended.

Our first visit to the Glasshouse to see Rob Brydon. Searched online for restaurants and found a little gem called Raval Indian Brasserie. We were warmly greeted on arrival and shown to the lounge area for a drink whilst our table was being prepared. The food was excellent and the staff were very professional and helpful. Good value for money and we will definitely recommend this to our friends and we will return very soon. Thank you.

A great brasserie and bar, close to the Glasshouse International Centre for Music (better known by its previous name, Sage Gateshead), and the Hilton Gateshead. Food is good, as is the service. In terms of atmosphere, the brasserie would benefit from a more Indian vibe. The current interior style, along with the background music, suggests more of an English eatery that serves Indian food.

I attended here on a Friday evening with another friend. The decor of the restaurant was nice. The serving staff were extremely friendly and professional. I ordered the lamb kebab starter which was really tasty. My friend had a paneer as a starter which was also nice. The chicken biryani man was also really tasty. All of the food was well presented and I think overall fairly reasonably priced. Overall, I would certainly return.

We had booked a table for Boxing day evening for my birthday, we arrived 30mins early to find the restaurant in darkness ,closed ,a guy came to the door to tell us the restaurant was closed due to sickness, Sadly they hadn't informed us 😢 we were very disappointed. I did phone and speak to the manager a day later and he was very apologetic But it didn't help as we were very ,very disappointed 😔

Big delay. Bad attitude when called restaurant. Cold food and missing items. Avoid.

We decided on a delivery from this establishment and registered and ordered from there web site at 5.30pm. Unfortunately we are asked to call at 7pm if it had not arrived which we did. We were told that our food was ready but no drivers to drop it off. Eventually the owner dropped it off 2hrs later. The food was of good quality and I must say it was excellent. They had included a chutney & poppadom tray free of charge. I think overall it was good value for money at £45 for two people

Visited on a Saturday night after booking on Friday. The only down part was that you are sat the lounge area whilst they take your orders,this was quite cold. Us and a number of other customers kept our coats on. Once we were taken through to sit down,everything was great. The food was very good and the service was excellent.

Dined as a family whilst visiting our daughter at university. She had previously dined here and loved it and how right she was. We ordered four different curries and all were genuinely delicious. The staff are very courteous and want you to enjoy both the food and experience. We will definitely make this our restaurant of choice when we next visit and recommend to all .
