Have been returning to Raymond’s for a few years now, always quick service and the best pie mash and liquor in the area. It is a friendly family run vibe and they always know the customers names. Sometimes does delivery which is perfect.

A lively Pie & Mash shop that specialises in Pie, Mash and Eels with liquor (or gravy) but has many well prepared alternatives. Counter service, polite but 'local'; setting at wooden 'booths' and you collect your own forks and spoons. Chilli vinegar provided on your table. Its been there for years as have many of the customers. Food great, atmosphere unique and disappearing. Worth a visit before such restaurants are no more. We visit every couple of months.

My mate talks about these places all the time says they are a dieing breed First impression as I walked in Old fashioned simple but tidy. Staff friendly plain talking. Asked about the pies what meat is used and what the best selling pie was. The pie was very nice mash was good but not keen on the parsley liquid 3 out of 5 not bad. One downside my clothes stunk of cooking for the rest of the day. Could do with air con or better ventilation

This is the sort of place where one can get really good pie and mash and school steamed puds with lashings of custard - just the sort of thing which people try to discourage us from eating, but after which we yearn! I like to come in here for a return to the gastronomic reality of my youth! The setting is plain and businesslike. Some people come in and order to take away. Most people collect their food from the counter and take it to a table; but as I do not walk very well, mine is brought to me by kindly ladies Londoners need places like this, to keep their feet well and truly on the ground, and to keep them in mind of what traditional British grub is!

We had lunch here with friends, one of whom is local to the Eltham area. This was our first time at a pie & mash shop. Our London friends both had double pie and mash. The pie is minced lamb made with water pastry and served with two scoops of mashed potato and parsley "liquor", which is traditionally made using the water kept from the preparation of the stewed eels, butter and cornflower to thicken. They tell us a lot of people would have single pie with a portion of eels and mash. There are also other options for those wanting something different such as all day breakfast, burgers & Spaghetti Bolognese. There is also a limited vegetarian selection (omelettes, all day breakfast without the meat). On Sundays they do Sunday roast, not sure if there is a vegetarian option. You order and pay at the counter. They prepare your drinks for you to take away when you pay. When your food order is ready, you collect it from the counter. They have their own vinegar and chilli infused vinegar on the tables. This place became busy during our visit and is popular with the locals. Good customer service, friendly staff and efficient service. It was a good experience, even for a vegetarian.

Having had to visit the doctors' surgery next door, I consoled myself with a visit here, and have returned on more than one occasion. The food, of its kind, is first rate, and the helpings are generous. The staff are extremely helpful: having a mobility problem I have been grateful for the help in taking plates to table, and even in bringing extra cups of coffee. Thoroughly recommended!

I was a regular to this Pie and Mash shop, I moved from the local area and have not been here for about 15 years, not a lot has changed, it was very good then, and still is a very good Pie and Mash shop. Try their version of Chilli Vinegar, it really compliments the pie and mash. It is also a Cafe where you can get other foods for the people that are not Pie and Mash fans. Very good,

My Husbands always a fan of these and they are getting rarer. This one was ok. They do differ a lot. A little haphazard on service. The pies not as good as Bexleyheath one. Beware the ladies Loo.

Really nice to see a different Cuisine. Think a fusion between indian and african, with lovely goat curries and rotis , was pleasantly surprised and cheap to boot also. Will be adding this to my favorite list.

Initially when we arrived all seemed good. The cafe itself looked historic and a bit eccentric, but that wasn't a bad thing, and the cost of the food seemed reasonable as well. The three of us took a seat, had a look at the menu and began to choose what we wanted to order. After about 5-10 mins we'd pretty much decided and then waited to be seen to by a member of staff. We noticed a waitress cleaning tables behind us and assumed that once she'd done that she'd come to us, as the other customers had already been seen to. No such luck. In fact I'm not even sure if she acknowledged us, walking straight past us and continuing to wipe other tables. We waited a little longer hoping she would come over and notice the open menus and lack of food and drink on our table, but the jaycloth was more important. Tired of being ignored, we walked out and left the 1930's time capsule hungry and frustrated.
