Had a wonderful experience at red dog. The staff couldn’t have been more friendly and easy to talk to. There was a great atmosphere in the building with sports playing one side and a more restaurant orientated side. The selections of drinks is extensive with many cocktails to chose from and the waitress let us know they can adapt most of these to be mocktails which was great. The food was brilliant, burgers are full of flavour and served slightly pink (unless ordered as well done) which made them juicy. They have many options with loads of different toppings to choose from. I would highly recommend red dog saloon for any occasion really, will definitely be returning.

I came into the restaurant at lunchtime the other day, and was promptly seated and served buy a waitress- she was very prompt and very helpful when ordering. I ended up ordering a classic double cheese burger well done with fries and both were great! The fries well seasoned and the burger moist even though well done and had a good ratio of toppings! Would eat here again for sure and have recommended to friends in the area!

Really enjoyed lunch at red dog saloon, very welcoming and great service despite it being pretty busy. I got the Hickory burger and my partner got the beef rib plate. Portion sizes and quality was great we only needed 1 side between the two of us.

Had a lovely time here when we came for lunch. we were sat on the bar side as my boyfriend wanted to watch the football, but there was quieter seating available. Our waitress was so lovely and the staff seemed to work well as a team. I was impressed by the portion of onion rings and mozzarella sticks we had on the side.

First time visit, was heading to brewdog but didn't realise how small it was (be warned, I'd strongly recommend reserving - I've never had to do this at other brewdogs...)- anyway no space on a Saturday afternoon (3pm), so went round corner to Red Dog - a good call... Service was excellent, quick, and professional. Staff helped with portion sizes which was good so we didn't end up over ordering. Great burgers, sides also good. Top tip if you go for a burger I'd suggest you only need 1 side between 2 people. Bill came to around £30 each incl. alcoholic drinks so about par these days. Would I go back, yes. Recommended 👍

Atmosphere great , boxing on pints flowing , not overly loud . Female serving staff great , but male asked us if we needed sauces , we said yes , he never brought any . Issue comes from food , tiny portion of chips , very overpriced. The burger I got was warm at best , supposed to be gooey , cold rubber motz sticks on to , bacon that was just almost all fat ( had to remove from burger ) and top of bun covered in mayo that wasn't supposed to be on the burger , cba waiting to removed bacon , scraped off mayo , wiped off the excess on nap kin . No BBQ meats on this day so can't speak of that , but burger was a cold grim mess , worse than a 5guys

Just OK to be honest. Food is seriously over priced and you can get very similar cuisine elsewhere for half the price. If you like paying 20 pounds for a burger with no fries be my guest. I wouldn't bother again.

We booked to have a meal on new year's eve with family and friends. Unfortunately this ended up being a big mistake. The staff seemed intoxicated at 630pm (staff had beem seen drinking) onwards and then struggled to undertake there duties, our meals came out at 3 different stages, at least 15 minutes from our first lot to the kids meals arriving last. To cap it all off when I complained to the waitress that 2 meals of chicken on the bone were still bright red inside and uncooked, I was then passed a message back from the manager saying the chicken was fine to eat as it had been probed (this food then got left), around 3 hours later I found my self being violently sick for around an hour. The following morning i wakeup with a rash all over my face, after speaking to a doctor friend, he advised me that I had food poisoning, which I already new this to be the case I wouldn't advise anyone to eat here as the staff are not capable and the preparation of the food is way below minimum standard and very over priced for the quality

Felt like I was in an episode of kitchen nightmares. Had read the trip advisor reviews about poor service but decided to give them the benefit of doubt. Arrived to a cold and strange smelling restaurant- I had expected amazing smells of bbq meat and a relaxed vibe but the place was empty and devoid of any kind of atmosphere. Served quickly arrived to take our orders - immediately stated that something wasn’t available. Fine. Server then came back 5 minutes later to say another item wasn’t available for a meat platter - we asked if we could substitute it (pork ribs for beef ribs) and she said no because of the price difference… could have easily waived this considering our order was over £100 or even suggested covering it with the £2 price difference. At this point I gave up - the remaining options were just burgers which is not what I wanted nor expected from an ‘authentic’ bbq restaurant. Don’t waste your time or money.

Food was dry and tasted off! We had the platter and wouldn’t recommend it at all, meat all tasted bad, wouldn’t recommend this place at all!

Great for a date night or relaxed meal the burgers were great and the pork ribs are to die for, proper authentic bbq smoke just like the states.

Visited red dog on 17th December at 12:30pm. We have been numerous times before and have been disappointed the last few occasions but I wanted to give it another go as I know how good they can be. Wow, so glad we did. Food was perfect, service was brilliant. The servers took extra time to talk us through options and preferences and were very friendly and personable. Food came out piping hot and absolutely delicious, best burger I have eaten in years. I had a double cheese burger and my partner had a solo platter. We can’t wait to come back.

Visited on a Saturday night and received quick service. However the beer we received was flat and the food is overpriced for small portions. I had the chicken tenders for 16.50 and found them dry. We also were over charged for a drink that they initially forgot to bring us. When we said the beer we received was flat the response was that it did look flat by the waitress but a refund or fresh drink was not offered to us. A nice idea and menu but would not recommend.

I wasn't a fan. 2 of us enjoyed our meals. 2 of us didn't. The onion rings on my burger were freezing cold and the bacon was rock hard I couldn't get through it. The chips were stone cold too. However my son loved his children's meal. It was all abit hit and miss. But overall not worth £97 for 4 burgers and 4 cokes.

Not what I expected I have been to the USA quite a few times and this just isn’t America food bit of a mish mash put together and the drinks are extremely expensive don’t think I will be rushing back here soon

Lovely food, a bit pricey, staff was fantastic

When I bit into my chicken I got a mouth full of blood. My husband took the dish to the bar as I was crying and very upset. They immediately took it away, apologised, and assured me the manager would come talk with me asap. He took a long time to come (I was not made a priority), had an awful attitude, refused to compensate mine and my husbands meal (only the bloody chicken) and informed me I couldn't possibly get sick as the chicken is 'fresh'. That is not how salmonella and campylobacter work, and it's terrifying the restaurant manager doesn't understand basic food safety.

We turned up without a reservation but they managed to squeeze us in. So glad they did. The food was absolutely amazing. Our server was fantastic but unfortunately can't remember her name. I recommend the burnt ends and the Mac and cheese. The burgers looked amazing. Can highly recommend eating here. You need to open a restaurant in York as we're only in Nottingham a few times a year for gigs.

Went with a friend and both ordered the New York Platter each, the food was passable (chicken tenders were the highlight, very tender insides and crunchy coating) but didn't seem like anywhere near enough quality nor quantity to justify the price. The service was very good and the atmosphere was nice - seems like a decent place to go if you want to go and watch the football for sure. The mens toilets however are in an absolute state of disrepair - three taps and two of them didn't work and one was a dribble, the taps area seems to be utterly rusted over. Overall, flaws aside I'd say maybe check it out if you are looking for something to try or want somewhere to watch the football, but don't expect to be blown away.

Average food but overpriced. Tv was on very loud and it was very cold when you took the trek to the toilet. Had to send chips back as cold, replaced them but that took 15 minutes. There are many cheaper places that do better food, however the milk shake was very good.

Good and hearty food, french fries are disgusting wrapped in something spicy -disgusting. I just like plain french fries! Camden stout was not available. The service is good and friendly.

Very disappointed, food was mediocre at best, burgers served on side plates, Philly cheesesteak was not very nice at all, very bland, cheese wiz on it which was disgusting. Very expensive for what it was, won’t be returning again.

We got 2 of the Kentucky platters, 1 Oregon platter and 2 plates. I kid you not, when I say this food blew us all away. We are all big eaters and very much prefer American style food over anything. This is by far the best we have experienced. 3.5 hours after eating we were all regularly groaning for being so full and satisfied. The taste of these dishes was unrivalled. Definitely returning.

Been here couple of times before, and it is nice in here,and the food is nice. Yesterday I was with my family, everyone ordered burgers and I ordered ribs, and when I ate half of the beef ribs, I pulled a long hair out of my mouth. When the personel asked is everything ok I said that I pulled the hair out of my mouth and she said that she is sorry and moved to the other customer. My husband didn't mind it so we didn't make a big deal out of it. But as a restaurant that has prices like this and our receipt was over 170£ I think that the serious restaurant should have excluded that meal from the receipt. Overall nice restaurant but after this will not go there again. In order to respond to the comment below, I understand you have to write something to not look so bad in this situation, but it doesn't have to be a lie. I was with my family of 6, and no one seen anything differently from what I have said in this review. Im not much offended by the hair in the food, but with no action taken at all when I said that I pulled out the hair of my mouth wrapped in meat I was chewing, and now later I see your respond. Best wishes to you that this doesn't happen to other customer, and please if it does show some respect. Thank you

Came here for my birthday, with my family. Food was really nice but a bit expensive. Service was excellent from the young lady who looked after us. Atmosphere was good but let down by the state of the toilets downstairs. Broken toilets and would not flush, or been flushed. More importantly no water out of the taps so no hand wash. Red dog saloon isn’t the place to go for authentic barbecue food in Nottingham. Upon our arrival, we were informed that there was no chicken available at all, which limited my wife's options. We arrived yesterday, intrigued by the hype surrounding this place on social media, but we were instantly disappointed. We ordered a few drinks, but the first ones we received were flat. We asked to have them replaced, and the replacements also arrived flat, as if they had just been topped up with a bit of fizz. Next, we ordered our food. My wife chose a burger since there was no chicken available, while I went for the Texas Trinity plate. When the food arrived, it was another letdown. My wife only received the burger, so we inquired whether it came with fries. The server didn’t mention or say anything, and eventually, they brought out some fries dumped them on the table and walked away, which were later added to our bill. For the price of £13-£16 for a burger, should we really have to pay an additional £5.50 for a small tin of fries? A We ordered the Texas Trinity plate, which costs £24.50, and were shocked by the portion size—it looked more like a kids' meal. For that price, we received barely a teaspoon of coleslaw, two thin slices of pickled cucumber—supposedly the side dish—two slices of brisket, a small bony piece of pork shoulder, a hotdog, and a cheap slice of white bread that was untoasted.) Overall, we felt it was a waste of time and money to eat here. I recommend heading just 10 minutes up the road to Hickory’s Smokehouse —it’s far better and definitely worth the money!

Was quite excited to dine here as it seemed right up my street. However, going at 5pm on a Wednesday night and it not being busy at all (about 8 tables when we arrived), they hadn't even wiped the table down they reserved for us. Fast forward 5 minutes and we got our order taken pretty friendly-ly. Another 10 minutes before our drink came out. A little long for a singular pint and a coke, when no other drinks were being made. Over 40 minutes later our food came out. We were apologised to just before about the wait, but rather hastily. The food itself was fine. Lukewarm, despite the wait. And the actual burger didn't taste of anything, it felt like they were throwing fancy toppings at it to make it taste good. And it did actually taste good, to their credit. But it was a lot of money to pay for an average burger each and fries to share, as they aren't included in the high price. We then had to beg for the bill, despite there being three staff at the bar chatting, and not one of us clearing our table or asking us how our food was at any point. Very disappointed, wouldn't waste your money. There's plenty of other great places to eat in Nottingham!

JUST GO TO HICKORYS INSTEAD We drove over 40 miles to try the red dog in Nottingham. We arrived an were seated quickly. The waitress came and took our order. This is when the issues started. So we ordered. After 15 mins the waitress comes back and tells me there's no chicken. (Why wouldnt you state this as people enter) anyway it annoyed me but I decided to order something else. Also they don't even have a soft drinks menu. So in essence they can bring you a lemonade and charge you whatever they want for it. But bavk to the food after a very short wait all the food was brought to the table. Remember I said the food came out quickly. The fries were stone cold they also brought us x2 mozzarella sticks when our order was 1 mozzarella stick and a mac n cheese. I called the waiter as the waitress had obviously gone to Narnia. He wasn't english(wish is obviouslynot an issue BUT) he looked confused as hell when I told him this is not what we ordered. He took the extra mozzarella sticks I.stead of just allowing us to have them. My partner asked for some salt. And that's when he decided to join the waitress in narnia because we never saw him again. The food wasn't anything special. But the mac n cheese was foul its just pasta in the funniest cheese sauce. My partners brioche was burnt. We complained about all these things at the time we were there stated we'd never com back. They offered us a drink to try and make up for it. That's when we decided to leave as I was gettin angrier by the experience and didn't want to cause any trouble. So overall just avoid this place completely. I have noticed they do reply to comments. But in absolutely no way do they try to offer resolutions. They just say sorry for your experience. Also £11 for a cocktail. And you literally sit in the window to see a sign across the road at another food establishment offering 2 cocktails for £10. Overall red dog saloon is shocking from the food to the staff to the management that will reply terribly to this.

We went for lunch in Red Dog Nottingham yesterday. Eaten here a few times over the years but this time it was awful. Food was ok, except for the burger which was under cooked and raw in the middle. No one came to check if the food was ok during the meal. At the end we were asked if the food was ok I mentioned the burger being uncooked, the waitress told me I was wrong without checking, ‘it’s cooked, the burgers come out slightly pink’. I appreciate a pinkish burger, but this was raw. Told they temperature probe it to make sure it’s cooked, ok fine but it was a 5mm thick burger, easy to misalign the probe and get it wrong in the kitchen, but nope, I’m wrong and no apology. I didn’t make a fuss or anything just asked for the bill. Next waitress came along and again told me I was wrong without listening to me, “Burgers come out slight pink” yes I know but that wasn’t slightly that was raw meat in the middle. Now I didn’t want money off the bill or anything just recognition that the burger was raw and an apology would have been more than enough. However nothing off the sort happened. Clearly at Red Dog the customer is not right. Off to Hickory’s from now on! So much better. Also cheaper!

A place with a lot of ‘hype’… We were really excited about our visit to Red Dog. Sadly it didn’t turn out to be what we expected. The best part of Red Dog Saloon is the service. That’s it. The service is great, friendly, welcoming and professional. I was really looking forward to my food. It was great don’t get me wrong but when your averaging £40 for burgers and fries, it’s seems extortionate. As some of the reviews do say, there are plenty of other options available in the area. Red Dog is a good option, but by far not, the best, option. The drinks however are very reasonably priced. There is ample Parking in the local area however this can cost a bit if you go above 4 hours. Thanks for my first - and most probably last - Red Dog Saloon experience. 💫

First time visiting after having a quick look for an American BBQ place. The food was amazing, although I was disappointed in not being able to try a platter to get a taste of everything they offer. Platters are for a minimum of two people and unfortunately I had no one to share with. Bare in mind that when you order a meal, there are no sides such as fries added, these you will have to pay for separately, so the cost soon adds up. The choices of desert is very small and unfortunately the desert that I went for was not very nice. The chocolate fudge cake was very dry, I would almost call it stale, but I think it had been sat in a fridge for a long time. Lastly, the thing that annoyed me the most and let me down for this place is the "service charge" of 10% The reciept claims the money for this charge, all goes towards the staff. Service charge is another word for a tip, I know this I American dining but we're in the UK, if I want to pay a tip, I'll decide to do that or not. It feels dirty having that forced upon me. Nowhere on the menu does it say that there would be one, nore did the waiting staff tell me there would be.

We decided to give this place a go last night as we walked past it a few times and I love a good smoke house and was having a date night. However it wasn’t really up there, the service with the staff I have to say is faultless really lovely people working there so 5* for service but the food however isn’t that great. We ordered the cheesesteak hotdog which was just greasy and not enjoyable however the chicken burger was nice but again just covered in grease it’s also quite pricey considering you don’t even get fries or anything as a side and that has to be ordered separately. We were also disappointed as we had especially travelled here to try the brisket but when we were about to order we was told there was no brisket along with half the other menu items which is why I ended up going for the cheesesteak as I had no choice. Don’t think we will be visiting again

I know it was late on a Sunday but the food for the price given was not on at all. Over £40 for a burger and ribs on their OWN and two drinks. Not to mention the ribs were like a cheap meat that was 90% fat. Rodeo burger was cold and meat was like mush. You'd be better of going to the five guys round the corner as it's cheaper and the standards are always high. I feel scammed, I regret going and I regret even paying for that shocking meal. All I got was £8 knocked off the bill for that disgraceful meal, a joke honestly 🤣 felt like I was on a set for kitchen nightmares.

Ordered delivery at 5pm to be delivered at 7. Order arrived at 8:50pm and just blamed third party delivery. Food arrived cold and the meats didn’t even come with BBQ sauce. Chicken burger was extremely spicy despite selecting no spice option. Called to complain and didn’t even offer partial refund just said I’ll let the kitchen know??

Absolutely perfect night had with friends. Had the shotgun assassin XL and it was faultless. Staff were all polite, friendly and helpful. Expensive yes but still value for money. Will be coming every time I return to Nottingham that's for sure.

I've wanted to come to Red Dog for a fair few year and we were incredibly let down, arrived at 6pm for a table and got seen to for orders really quick, no more than 15 minutes, but then waited 30/35 minutes for a barely warm cheeseburgers and fries, didn't even have time to complain about it as we had to be at the motorpoint arena by quarter past 7, honestly felt robbed of £49, so many better venues around the city. On the plus side the young girl that served us was so polite, dispite some of the attitude she was getting off other customers.

We had a table booked for 6pm for myself and my husband but decided to eat earlier which was easily accommodated by the staff. It was quiet there as few customers so service was prompt. Vegan options are limited on the menu but they were more than happy to accommodate this as I ordered the moving mountain burger. They just omitted the cheese and sauce. The food was great quality. Service was excellent. Nice relaxing atmosphere. We really enjoyed eating here and would definitely recommend. My only recommendation for improvement would be if there were more vegan options available. The only option was the burger. Id have loved a hotdog but they were all meat ones.

The customer service was very efficient. Nice and friendly. Our bill came to over £50 for 2 hot dogs and a drink. This was with service charge like we are living in the United states. The quality of the food was nice. Not £18 nice. But nice. Appropriate prices need to be applied here. They got some really good beers here for a pretty penny too. Its confusing how busy this place considering the prices. You can take in consideration of the concept of the slow cooked process that's involved. However it shows the mindless careless spending people can be and won't pull this expensive price to attention. I overall enjoyed the food but for the price. I will not go back in a hurry.

Always feel a bit mixed about this place. The burgers are pretty good although I do feel like they are a bit on the expensive side given you get nothing included with them, so once you've ordered fries you're pretty deep in the hole already. There's some other good options for burgers in Nottingham which I think are just as good quality if not better and without doubt a better value. My most recent visit I found very greasy compared to other visits I always really fancy one of the platters, but most (all?) are minimum 2 persons so need someone to agree to share so never been able to try one. Would be nice if there were platter options available individually for those that want to try a few bits. It's one of those places that if someone else picks it I'm happy to go, but I'd never really choose it myself or recommend it over the other options available nearby

We went here yesterday, the staff immediately acknowledged us and were brilliant. We were seated quickly, we did make a reservation. One of our party has dietary requirements and were immediately given a chart with the ingredients in all food. We ordered burgers and brisket, the brisket was amazing. The burgers came and were not cooked in the middle, we didn't realise that this is how they're served. We had no idea this wasn't explained to us neither did we ask for them to be like this. This could be particularly concerning for someone who's pregnant or who has a weakened immune system like one of our party. We understand the ingredients / steak the restaurant use are of high quality and stringent measures will be in place however we know the risk isn't 0% and it just seems like an unnecessary risk to take without first informing the customers. One of our burgers seemed really raw in the middle, we highlighted this to the staff and they were amazing. They offered us a fresh burger or to take it off the bill, we chose the latter. The atmosphere was quite rowdy / loud probably due to the location being 8pm on a Saturday next to all the clubs and pubs. The price was fairly expensive and sides like fries / chips were not included. You had to buy them separately. Again this is probably because of the ingredients like the steak being of higher quality to try and prevent any foodborne illnesses from the medium / rare burgers. Ide also like to note the staff did offer to recook all the burgers thoroughly when we queried the pink centre of the burgers, by that time though it was too late and we'd already ate at least half. I asked for some ketchup and BBQ sauce, the BBQ sauce was a bourbon type, it was really nice! We would probably not go again just because with the price / atmosphere and food taken into consideration we could go elsewhere and have a better experience. The restaurant does look really cool, nice vibes and would really attract the customer it's aiming for, unfortunately that's just not us. Can't give the staff enough praise, got a great team working there 👍

Used to be good, but they just delivered an undercooked patty. It’s one of those thin ones too, so quite an achievement to undercook it.

Went in for lunch as I was eyeing this place for a long time and wanted to take my boyfriend there. We went in and stood there for good 10 minutes before approaching the bar and asking to be seated. After ordering an alcoholic beverage I had to wait another good 20 minutes for it. Finally we ordered food. The food was amazing I have no issues with the food. The meat was perfectly cooked and burgers were incredible. However that was the only thing that was incredible. The staff that was appointed to us looked like she didn’t know or didn’t want to do her job on that day, ignoring questions or pulling weird faces when questions were asked. I honestly felt uncomfortable by that attitude towards that customer. The other girl on the shift was very attentive and polite I have no issues with that.

We had dinner here on a Sunday evening and what promised so much, delivered so little. The food was greasy (even the buns had some kind of oil purposefully brushed onto them which meant your hands were covered right from the start), the portion sizes were small, the fries were crisped (am sure you know the sort…hollow crisped shells for fries), and in my opinion over-priced. We mentioned that the food was too greasy, when our plates were cleared away, but our comments were either not heard or ignored. A really disappointing experience both gastronomically and fiscally!

For a table of 7 two meals came out first then it was 20 mins before the next four meals two were incorrect, last meal and two side forgotten dispite server being reminded that they were missing three times got brought out 35 mins after everyone else had finished there food Two burgers ordered were wrong but were not fixed, one plate was chip and hurt one of the tables fingers Bill was given to table befor we had finished eating On bringing up the issues management was hostile and refused to accept that the service had been so poor and escalated situation multiple times Long story short worst service I have received in a restaurant to date and would not recommend eating at this venue

I have been here a few times before, and the service has been very good before. However, my recent visit was profoundly disappointing due to several service issues that left us perplexed. When we arrived tonight, our waitress took the order for our party of four. However, things took a confusing turn when the food arrived. One of the dishes was beef brisket, but the waitress insisted three times that it was pork rib. Despite our insistence that it was brisket, she maintained it was pork. After going back to the kitchen to check, she returned and said it was indeed beef brisket and that we had not ordered pork at all. This was highly confusing as she had just been adamant that we had ordered pork and that the dish was pork rib. We just wanted to enjoy the dinner so we left it. To make matters worse, she claimed that she had read the order back to us before submitting it to the kitchen, but this did nothing to clarify the situation and only added to the confusion with her inconsistent statements. There was no apology for the mistake, just a firm insistence that it was our error, despite the fact that all four of us clearly remembered the order correctly. The disappointment continued when it came time to pay. My friend asked to pay the entire bill in cash, which amounted to just over £200, including a £30 service charge that had been added without any consultation. My friend was short by just 13p and asked if this could be discounted (especially given the errors made). Shockingly, the waitress asked if he could pay the remaining 13p on card, which felt extremely petty and unaccommodating. Overall, the service during this visit was confusing, unprofessional, and disappointing given previous experiences. Given this experience, we will not be returning.

Absolutely terrible food and service 2 meals brought wrong and then not corrected food cold and extremely overpriced

Overpriced and very average. 4 people eating and didn’t hammer it but was still almost £300. Wouldn’t go again. Service was slow but not the staffs fault as they were good. Service charge was £25. We could have requested this to be taken off the bill but it was a drop in the ocean in relation to the overall bill. Just not worth the money unfortunately.

First time eating here and wasn't disappointed,the food was sooooo tasty and jimi was very friendly and helped us make fantastic food choices , can't fault the food or jimi , FYI food portions are big ,will definitely be back
