My first visit to the Red Lion in about  20 years, although I do pass it from time to time. I liked the Trip Advisor excellent reviews,  so why not try it. A quiet Monday Lunchtime, it has not really changed in 20 years and we were met by a lovely lady host called Jen who was very friendly and helpful. It is a Marston's Chain Pub, it is not Fine Dining, but it does what it says on the tin. The portions were an acceptable size, nicely cooked  and presented to us in a timely manner. We really enjoyed our visit and of course we will go back again.

Went on Saturday evening with my partner first time going and will not be going again the starters we ordered was more like a kids starter my partner ordered a steak medium rare came well done mushrooms was cold I ordered a pie and chips the chips came hard like they not been cooked properly and it was a bit expensive for the quality of the food

Nice cosy room. Looking forward to staying again. Evening meals and breakfast was good. The bar also serves Cask Ale which is great. Bar staff are great, especially Sophie & Nicole

Another great meal at an old favourite local. The Red Lion Newburgh is a traditional, cosy pub at the heart of the village. Thank you to the ever helpful team there for looking after us all so well.

We came for breakfast with Santa this morning, all the staff were very friendly. Santa was brilliant, very interactive with the kids. My little girl is coeliac and they catered for her dietary needs. We will be back next year. Thank you

Spent a few hours here for their brass band afternoon at Christmas with our little girls and dog, and Katrina really looked after us. We're coming here, 11 of us, on Christmas day and can't wait. Fantastic place - great food really friendly, great atmosphere and brilliant service. 🎉💃🏽☃️🎅🏻

Wanted something to do with kids. Very welcoming.

Arriving rather early but welcomed and only had a few minutes to wait for a table.Nicole was on hand to show us to the table and could not be more helpful.As it was Sunday we decided on a Roast Beef Dinner. Absoloutely delicious.As a bonus we had a complimentary mince pie to follow. A 5 star experience.

Sophie and Jennifer were really friendly and polite and the food was excellent at a reasonable price.

Had a lovely afternoon in the Red lion recently with a couple of friends, great service, excellent drinks, superb pub grub. We felt really at home and where well looked after by Nicole, who not only took and served our orders but ran the bar as well, did not get the name of the chap who was in the kitchen, but top marks to him as well. Will certainly recommend to friends and family and will be back soon.

Not the best. It wasn't exactly a disaster. Staff are friendly, decent menu and a good selection of ale. However my fish batter was soft and soggy like when you stuff up in a microwave, same for the apple crumble. Really pretty building from the outside but lacks that warm atmosphere.

Nice atmosphere. But didn't eat anything. Just went for a drink and to chill out.

Stayed for 2 nights. Lovely sized room with a big, comfortable bed. Everything spotless. Powerful shower, free parking and WiFi. Staff were great, really friendly and breakfast was really good.

We have returned from a great overnight stay at the Red Lion. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome by the lovely staff Jen and Nicola. Spent a really lovely evening in the bar which had a really nice atmosphere. Food and drinks were really good. Room was lovely and clean and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Would definitely return.

The staff were very welcoming for both humans and dogs alike! Service from the staff was extremely efficient, My husband and I had ordered beef roast dinners (Sunday). It was delivered promptly and tasted hot and delicious, much needed after a walk over parbold hill. Jen served us and she was as equally as welcoming as the bar staff. This pub is also dog friendly, just what’s needed after a nice walk. There are dog treats, blankets and toys. Been here a few times but it’s the first time we’ve ordered food. Although the roast dinners may not be the most aesthetically pleasing, it delivers on taste and value. Thanks Red Lion x al

Was really surprised at the size and quality of the room; shower facilities were modern and spacious with a powerful shower. Really quiet location and had a great sleep. Ample off street parking

Cute pub, has a lot of potential however few things to note. My girlfriend and I went on a Saturday morning around 1PM. We ordered a burger with fries and a jacket potatoe. We sat for over an hour whilst we waited for them, then once they came out my burger was dry and the jack potato with little to no toppings. My girlfriend said at the time of eating that Wetherspoons jacket potato's are better (despite the running joke of how notoriously bad Wetherspoons food is). Also i'm not sure the beer garden gets any sun but it was cloudy when I visited so I can't fairly comment.

We stay here when we travel up and down to South Wales. We always feel welcome the rooms, service and food are all great. Highly recommended.

Just got home from an anniversary lunch (37 years)!. The food was simple, tasty and outstanding value for money. The service was excellently provided by Nicole who even provided table service for our drinks. Lovely country pub. Will visit again.

The atmosphere was welcoming, the food was fantastic and the service was great. Faultless.

Food was ok, nothing special, it was priced reasonably though. This is a typical Marston's pub so don't have high expectations. Staff are really friendly though. There are lots of pubs in this area that are much better maybe priced a little higher but you get what you pay for.

Not eaten here yet but regularly do the quiz, nice place with lovely staff.

It was ok. We went for a meal for my birthday using our Meerkat Rewards app. I'd say the portions are small although it tasted nice enough. It's not a venue for a special event - just a quick bite of pub lunch.

All the staff were very friendly and helpful. I stayed for one night in the hotel whilst cycling around the area and the room was lovely, very clean and comfortable. There were good choices on the food menu. I had the Vegetarian Thai-style curry which was excellent and there is a good choice of drinks behind the bar. I had the Vegetarian cooked breakfast in the morning which again was excellent and very good value for money. I would thoroughly recommend visiting the Red Lion.

Excellent pub food just as it should be

We went for lunch as soon as we walked in the girl on the bar said we have nothing from the grill menu or no lasagne. We sat down the place was not very clean, there was a television behind us an inch thick in dust, we only seen this after we ordered, we waited around 20 mins for food, they bought two dishes out we waited nearly 10 mins for the next two orders to come out one off them was a childs meal, they offered us a free childs dessert, my grandaughter choose a lolly ice to be told we haven’t got it my daughter ordered a vegsn dessert to be told its still frozen . I was over it at this time so just got the bill. The girl on the bar did take the black currant and soda off the bill as a sorry. We will not be returning here

Excellent.. Checking in was easy lady very friendly and helpful. The room was cosy but perfect. Bed very comfy and shower excellent. There was even a bath which was great. Had tea and breakfast both of which were delicious ..huge portions for tea and a plentiful breakfast kept me full all day.. bar and waiting on staff very cheery and friendly. A lovely atmosphere.

Stayed overnight with wife and attended the weekly poker game.As always,excellent night in a friendly atmosphere.great and efficient service from nic and her barstaff and rooms spotlessly cleaned and maintained by Marc and faye.

Amazing pub and hotel, I have stayed here a few times with the kids when visiting family, we had a family room that is nice, spacious and very clean. We had a meal with family the evening before and breakfast morning after and it was amazing. Thank you for another lovely stay.

We were given a friendly welcome from the dark haired lady (sorry not sure on your name) to the red lion & had a meal from the lunchtime menu which was nice. We stayed overnight as we’re going to a party locally the room was lovely & very clean & a very comfy bed.

Served by Katarina who as always was brilliant even after a hurt finger, ( I heard it was an axe throwing accident ) she still tapped away on screen with my order of Always amazing food Great service and food as always 5 stars

Been here several times fir a meal but sadly probably won't visit again, food was poor! Hunters chicken x2 was cold when it finally arrived, we where refunded for 1 of them, fish and chips, fish was so dry and peas where cold, chicken korma, the chicken was extremely chewy, daughter couldn't eat it, such a shame as we loved going local for a meal
