Short staffed resulted in cold breakfasts, no cups. Went for my sisters birthday before going out very disappointed

Waiting for more than 50 minutes for food had to ask how much longer and was told it would be at least another 30 minutes there was people ordered before us and were told it it would be another 30 minutes plus

Had a mixed grill and was all beautifully cooked and good value for money. Atmosphere was good. Good took a while but only to be expected as they were busy. Had a good time.

Today has been the worst ever . Totally get that as it’s Saturday that things won’t be as should be . Lady explained hour wait that was fine , ,could see it was busy . Waiters waitresses very attentive . Food awful today . Chef wasn’t on form really put us off

As always friendly, great service excellent food at great value prices. My wife and I both had steak and were both cooked to perfection, we have had steaks at other restaurants at double the price and it hasn't been anywhere as good, would highly recommend giving it a try.

The food was well priced but i have to compliment the member of staff which dealt with us think her name was Jemma she was very professional and helpful. We will definitely return in the future

Can't beat sizzlers for quality and price

We have been coming to the red lion for Christmas Day lunch for the last 3-4 years. We came this year and thoroughly enjoyed our meal, there was plenty of turkey and tasty fresh veg. Have to say this was the best Christmas meal we have had here. The staff were so friendly and inviting. We will be coming back soon.

We walked in on Christmas eve, eve and received a warm welcome for my family of 6 plus the dog. The place was lovely , the staff were lovely and most of all the food was lovely too!! The available board games kept the kids occupied, and I was also able to download the Sizzling pubs app, which got me a free drink 😉 We will definitely return Thanks to the team 🙌

I came here for the very first time-just a week last sunday and loved it and so much so, that my friends and I decided to come back here again. Was nice and clean, with friendly and helpful staff.Loved the food too and yeah my friends and I really like it here and would definately recommend it.

Not very happy with my meal frozen vegetables, frozen roast potatoes,frozen Yorkshire pudding and processed Turkey small stuffing ball which I think was also frozen. Not what I had expected for a Christmas meal.

Very disappointed with the festive meal the veg and the roast potatoes was not fresh very very taste less the turkey was protest. The dinner was well below standard Not worth the money. The Christmas pudding was with custard and not brandy sauce very disappointed

The food is okay, but never seem to be able to bring the sauce for the steak at the same time. I asked every waiting staff member who passed. Still no sauce. I was also expected to wait for the sauce before eating my meal to get a refund. They did give me a free dessert. I would prefer my sauce if it was once it had happened. I wouldn't be bothered, but every time I have ordered steak with sauce, it arrives 10 mins after the steak. It is not acceptable then to say you do not give refunds when you have eaten the meal.

Do not order roast turkey option on the festive menu. Change to the steak and chips. The roast is two slices of rolled up processed turkey. The potatoes are not nice and the vegetables are frozen. The staff are lovely. Long wait between starters and mains.

We usually get a tasty meal at the Red Lion Battlefield Shrewsbury which is why I choose it for our annual works Christmas meal. The 3 course Festive Set Meal seemed reasonable for £20. I was slightly disappointed with my starter but let that go, however the main Turkey meal was awful. 2 rolled up slices of processed Turkey, little veg and no cranberry sauce, although this was served with the Festive Pie meal. Food appeared thrown on the plate. The minimum staff appeared under pressure but did all they could for us to put things right by offering an alternative which only 2 in the group accepted. Overall the meal was extremely poor resulting in everyone leaving their food and we still had to pay the full amount. Staff 10/10. Food 2/10

Edit - There is English. Thank you for your completely broken English in your response whereby you ignored the majority of my review. Because of it you have lost even more stars. I really don't understand how some owners can be so out of touch. --- While it looks nice, the complete lack of any warnings regarding the low ceiling beams is concerning. I did graze my head on the first one and they only got worse after that. Usually they'll be marked with hazard markings with signs. But I guess plastering the whole dinning room with warnings would destroy the atmosphere. Food took ages to come out and was a complete mess. Ordered hunters chicken with salad instead of chips and managed to get salad and chips... Without any peas. Steam was mostly fat and gristle. Ordered medium rare but got a burn piece of rubbish. Onions tasted like they got cooked in dish soap. Onion rings soggy. Staff ended up being incredibly rude and started clearing the table before we even finished. There was no reservation for the table... Just a complete lack of basic service. Not worth half of the price paid and good luck not ending up in A&E with a concussion.

Stopped for breakfast as we had previously had a lovely lunch there. Unfortunately the breakfast was way below the standard of the lunch. The bread wasn't toasted in the traditional way but on the griddle with only one side done. I didn't have egg but wasn't offered a substitute. The has brown bites were overdone. My food was lukewarm althoughy husband said his was fine apart from the mushrooms and beans. Really disappointed as we had enjoyed our lunch on our previous visit.

Good food, helpful staff and plenty of parking.

The staff couldn't be more helpful and are alway very friendly. Its always very busy but well managed. The menu is excellent and food very nice. Only thing I would change is one or two more staff to help the team as it does get very busy.

Lovely service by Rachel and Jemma, Liam who was running food did an impeccable job, very nice young man and is very knowledgeable. Highly recommend the food and will definitely be back again 😋

Very nice meal this evening, there were 9 of us reserved for a booking, there's no table service unless you order on the app but we had to queue at the bar to get our table number. For a Tuesday evening it was quite busy and so were the staff, we felt that there could have been more focus on the bar as there was a lengthy queue at times not helped by our own lengthy order. More staff attending behind the bar would have mitigated alot of waiting around to be served time. That said, we had a large order for both drinks and food, there was a young lady behind the bar which we later found out was her first night serving in bar duties but she was very happy and did her best as quickly as possible, helped out by a young lad (I think his name was Joe) who was a bit of a star, I orders several items off the menu (much to the dismay of the ever growing queue behind me) and reading from a list our group had given me, I read this to Joe and it made alot more sense to him then it did to me, 20 mins passed and we were at our table, me thinking there's no way my food order is going to be nearly correct with only one staff member and a trainee taking multiple orders at a time at the bar (management please help them out). To our suprise everything came out quickly and the food was superb, all credit to the kitchen and also the young lad that delivered our food and came back to check all was ok (don't know his name but we were table 35) unusual for me but we had no complaints on the food , all well cooked to order and very satisfied, good atmosphere and we will definitely be back even if we do have to wait longer than usual at the bar to be served 👍👍

We came on a snowy night . It was too cold to remove my winter coat. There was no fire, it was miserable, too miserable to stay and eat, so we left.

Had a really lovely meal here for Christmas day. My 94 year mum loved it and was really looked after. Might be her last 😆. Not many people working but they done there best.

Visited very recently, first day of Festive specials so my friend and I decided to have the new burgers, I had beef burger, she had halloumi. There is also a falafel option. We also upgraded the fries for an extra £2, we got chopped up pigs in blankets, cranberry sauce, cheese and gravy on them, they were delicious! My friend is a big fan of the chocolate lovers sundae, if you like sweet, you’ll love this. There was an all female crew at the bar and serving the food and they did a great job, it was very busy with some large tables. We have always had good service here, it is busy around 6pm on a weekday but we’ve always found a table luckily and we will return.

We came in for food today, my wife chose the lasagne and I chose the chicken gyros Flatbread it was rather busy and we got our food after waiting around 25 mins which was fine. About half way through, i was chewing something cold and not very nice, I removed it from my mouth to discover it was raw chicken. This was not undercooked but completely raw. I then noticed that there was raw chicken mixed in with completely cooked chicken. I called a member of staff over and pointed this out, she didn't even look at my food but just said, I can promise you that it's impossible that it's raw I said please look she picked it up and returned with my five pound something and slapped it on my table with no eye contact. It's not about the money I said. Please inform your chef that you have a serious cross-contamination problem. Chicken is the worst meat for carrying bacteria. I seriously doubt she even told the chef about my complaint for fears he may walk out. I am a chef and own a restaurant with my wife [ its our day off]. EHO will be informed and will be provided with pictures of the raw chicken on my plate BTW, we had no apology at all

My husband booked a table for us both on Friday early evening food was excellent order correct and nicely presented and food was hot plenty of staff on shift very helpful and pleasant especially Sarah she was excellent definitely going back 😀

Our group of vintage vehicle enthusiasts (42 in all) had a great Thursday evening meal. We were all well looked after and the service was excellent considering it was such a busy night. Great food and attentive and very helpful staff who were well organised by Sarah, So helpful with some of our group who had special requirements, nothing was too much trouble, lovely atmosphere. Our second year here, look forward to next year

Little mix up with food order but rectified. Food was ok today, tried different menu items today. Cutlery was a little dirty on this visit, replaced when told.

My wife And I visited early Wednesday evening and both had scampi & chips with garden peas £9.79 We Made the mistake of having an extra portion of scampi for £2.50 to share! The scampi must have been the cheapest of cheap they were like round little balls, I have never seen scampi that small or shape before, but was optimistic that they would be full of fish, sadly that was not the case most were half empty shells! The chips were well over cooked and just warm, the garden peas were rock hard! Judged on the meal alone I would have given a one rating! But the ambience is nice and the staff friendly! We didn’t complain because we were in a party. We have had a couple of different meals here during the last six months (sizzling salmon & steak ect ) Which have been very mediocre that we were far from satisfactory, so future visits will be limited to drinks only.

Great food. But you need to book a table as it's busy and there is not often free tables. We had to wait 30 mins for a table as we had not booked but bar man called us when one became free. Well priced food.

First visit here in a long time, but it won't be our last, the pub was so busy and the food was amazing, I had the lasagne with garlic bread and for me it was 10/10 the meal was cooked to an excellent standard, just like a traditional lasagne I would high recommend this dish, my partner had Tandoori chicken which not only did it taste good but was well presented. All staff were very welcoming, we were told we had a 40 minute wait for food which we didn't mind but our meal was served within 15 minutes. You can either order your drinks & meals at the bar or via a QR code that is on your table. There is a seating area outside, I highly recommend this pub for couples or as a family. It won't be long before I go back, plenty of meals to choose from the menu, some new meals added to the menu as well. I look forward to going back to this gem of a pub.

Not enough people behind the bar, people were queueing to order food and drinks. Had to wait for my food as it was incorrect when delivered, my partner had nealy finished his by the time i had mine back. Other than that, the food was hot, excellent value for money

Go quite often food and service great.

I went out for a meal with my boyfriend as I have to say the food was ok. I ordered the chicken gyro wrap with chips and my partner ordered fish and chips with bread and butter. my wrap was solid like it had been left under the hotlights for ages. my partner said his meal was really nice however the bread was stale at ends. we ordered a pint of pepsi max and a pint of doom bar. my drink tasted flat and my partners beer had bits floating in it. the lady came over and asked if everything was OK when we told her nothing was fixed. I ordered garlic bread with cheese and I was waiting for the cheese to be added to my garlic bread. overall I would give it another go but this time I'd give if a 6/10

The food was excellent. It was my Dad's 77th birthday there was 7 of us. Tom served us our food all hot well cooked dishes. It was extremely busy so we did wait an hour for it, but it was worth it. The young lad behind the bar was very busy but still friendly and apologised for the wait. We enjoyed our meal and my Dad got a free cuppa of tea for his birthday. We pleased we will be back.

Usually go here once a week, always friendly and hard working staff. Food is excellent for price, but today had a slight issue but was resolved more than satisfactory

Good value, tasty food. Friendly staff, pleasant atmosphere. Today though they were busier than usual and I had to wait nearly 30 mins for my food, normally served within 10. I wasn't too bothered as I had the time but I did notice that orders must have been mixed up in the kitchen, as folk on another table who ordered before me still waited a further 10 minutes after I had been served.

Excellent place to enjoy good food and have a great atmosphere! Kid friendly and affordable. Thoroughly enjoy eating at this pub.

Booked a table on the balcony for dinner, being elderly we know what area of the pub suits us. Arrived to a very busy understaffed pub. Told our table was ready on the balcony area. No table had our reservation ticket on. Eventually found it close to the bar. A table with high bar stool type chairs impossible for an 80+ year old to use. Heard there was a 1hr wait for food so decided to go elsewhere. A regular place for us but never again. Unfortunately I had to give one star. Standards have been slipping over our previous visits.

I had the worst steak .I pointed out to the lovely waitress all the fat and gristle that was the majority of the steak and asked her to please show the plate to the chef, his reply was," all steaks are different"! Maybe so but I would have liked one I could actually eat .

A huge thank you for our Christening function organised a little belatedly but you kindly accommodated us. The food, service and drink was all excellently provided. Thank you to the Manager of the day and all staff who attended us so professionally.

Being a Bank Holiday weekend my mother in law decided to treat us to dinner. We booked for a 5:15 slit and although we were 10 minutes early our table was ready for us. We did have to swap a chair as I felt as though I was sitting on the ground. A minor problem.

We reserved a table but on arrival we realised that all the tables were available except for a couple, so me and my three guests sat in a booth. Service was provided by a young lad of between 18-21 and he provided a top class service. 4 mains and 4 desserts. The large mixed grill was excellent.

Food was lovely and came out quickly, the staff are all very friendly and helpful, even when the pub is busy. Nice atmosphere and the pub layout makes it feel cosy and welcoming.

The main meal was amazing. The only thing that let them down was the sticky toffee pudding. It was disgusting. Friendly staff.

This pub was just okay, we had originally wanted to go to one up the road which served breakfast but they had stopped serving by the time we arrived. The service was excellent, but the food was just okay, the level of cleanliness within the pub was also not to a very good standard. The place would be fine for a pint, but I wouldn’t eat there again.
