Amazing food with great service

This was our 1st visit & it was amazing,the restaurant was lovely inside,very well decorated. The waitress's were very attentive & accommodating. The menu had a vast array of dishes it was quite hard trying to decide what to have🙂 and what we had was delicious,already planning our next visit,would highly recommend you pay this restaurant a visit I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Service was great and so was the food! The salmon pasta is a favourite of mine I have again and again! Will 100% return so the friends

Had the loveliest three-course meal at Ricca’s hosted by Hilda and her lovely team. For starters, we got calamari, breaded mozzarella and mixed olives - I was too squeamish for the king prawns but my partner said they were the best he’s ever had and the other starters were equally as impressive! I had an AMAZING bowl of Penne Pollo Picante pasta for my main - really nicely seasoned and the sauce was actually spicy!! Loved that the Parmesan came in a pot on the side and the garlic bread dome was also a super nice touch. After all that, we were pretty much filled to the brim but just couldn’t say no to that Biscoff cheesecake which was genuinely the best I’ve ever eaten. It’s worth the visit just for the cheesecake in my opinion! All of our dishes were absolutely incredible - so fresh, tasty and flavourful. As a whole, it was a 10/10 experience - the restaurant is an absolute gem xx

This stylish proper Italian restaurant was recommended by locals. After enjoying the Hot House Combo at Tuckers Maltings we came here for dinner on Sunday evening. A warm welcome and we were lucky to have a window seat. Open kitchen for your entertainment. Whilst not on the menu, chef graciously agreed to my request for a simple side of a tomato and onion salad which was excellent. The lasagna excelled and certainly one of the best we have enjoyed. A standard pizza. With the bill, a voucher to enjoy a free bottle of wine at our next visit! Marvellous. 🇬🇧🇳🇿

We were a large (and noisy) table of 17 on a work Christmas party. The staff were amazing, the food lovely, and the atmosphere really good.

What a lovely place, it’s a shame you can only give five stars, the whole experience was first class, could not fault a thing.

Well we had a nice table it was the quieter side of the restaurant which was lovely but I would say that was the only positive. We were out with another couple hadn't been here for a long time ordered our classic favourite meals we've always have had ,but in comparison over the last 8years of coming here,meals were lacking presentation and ingredients I should have taken pictures as my Chicken Eldorado was poor for the price of £20.95 compared to the first time coming here and over priced for what I recieved , the last few visits have also gone that way ,food wasn't awful not at all just lacking also no real service to our table to make it an enjoyable experience .So I don't think we will return now time to try else where sorry Riccas.

This was our first visit, one arrival the restaurant looks clean and inviting. The waiter was very attentive and took our order very promptly. The selection of dishes was amazing. The starters and mains was beautiful... And easily matched the food we had in Rome last month. Will definitely return to try more of the menu.

We came to Ricca’s after a recommendation. We were not disappointed. The food is excellent as well as the service, B and the rest of the staff looked after us very well. This was the first time at this restaurant but it will not be the last. Very impressed.

We had a wonderful time at Ricca's for my fiance's birthday. The restaurant was very welcoming, the service was flawless, and they even put a candle in the dessert for him. It was a really amazing experience, and the food was exceptional. We are already thinking of when we can go back. I had the linguine gamberri and my other half had the lamb. It was delicious.

We had a lovely meal in this authentic Italian restaurant and the service was great but not rushed. Highly recommend!

The absolute best restaurant in Newton Abbot superb food lovely staff

Overall this was a terrible experience, I had made a reservation for Saturday 5th October for dinner at 8 pm with my parents who had come down to stay for the weekend. When we arrived at Ricca's we were informed that the system was down the, restaurant was running 2 hours behind schedule and it wasn't possible for us to be served. I expressed I had booked a table but was still told it was not a possibility even though there was many empty tables. The waiter was very abrupt with his response and was quite rude. I will not be returning to Ricca's in the future and will be telling everyone to know avoid it, I can't get over the rudeness and lack of want to serve and accommodate. If I could have given the restaurant 0 stars I would have.

Absolutely loved the place ❤️ Ranks as one of the best Italian's I've eaten at and on par with some of the best in London.

Waitress was very helpful. Atmosphere was ok considering it was midweek! I ordered Carbonara. It was nicely presented. However I felt the sauce tasted artificial. Almost like powdered sauce mix, which was disappointing. As it is an Italian restaurant, I would expect it to be made from scratch with fresh produce!

Following a visit to the races we decided to stay in Newton abbot for a meal afterwards. Having never visited before we walked through the town and decided to visit ricca's. The service and food were excellent. I would highly recommend a visit.

The food was amazing so complements to the chef, as for the female waitress with arm in sling she was rude and made a unnecessary comment to 1 of my party members which reduced her 2 tears we were having a lovely family evening up until this point. I don’t think it’s acceptable for a member of staff to speak to a customer in that manor very poor

Went in for the first time today and I felt like I had to leave a review just because we had an amazing experience with them. Food was delicious with big portions, atmosphere is perfect for any occasion, friendly staff and very clean restaurant. Thank you, we will definitely be back!

I booked lunch for Fathers Day and received an email confirming the booking. When we turned up the restaurant was closed! No email or telephone to advise us and obviously being Father’s Day we were unable to get in anywhere else. I have since emailed the restaurant but as of yet received no apology or response! Absolutely disgusting way to treat customers I’m actually surprised you’re still open if this is how you feel is the correct way to treat them!

We had a starter, and a main. We had a voucher for a free bottle of wine, which we used. We took the wine home that we didn't finish. The starter was bread and olive dressing a d was delicious. My main was a beef burger with bacon and cheese and it was melt in the mouth. I said it was my wife's birthday and they made us a little gelato with happy birthday on it. The service was excellent. The food was excellent. We didn't book. There were no issues.

Upon entering this modern and inviting establishment, one is immediately struck by its welcoming ambiance. The open kitchen, complete with a traditional pizza oven, adds a lively and engaging element to the dining experience. The children's pizza, touted as the best they have ever tasted—and they are seasoned pizza enthusiasts—did not disappoint. The steak was impeccably cooked to perfection, while the risotto offered a delightful blend of flavors. The freshness of the ingredients was evident in every bite. To conclude the meal, the homemade tiramisu stood out as a highlight, arguably the finest I have ever savored. This is a restaurant worth revisiting.

We had a wonderful evening with fantastic food and service. The menu had a wonderful choice from Montepulciano D’Abruzzo, Arancini Siciliana to Tiramisu - it was just like being in Italy. The food came out in reasonable time and was superb. The staff were incredibly friendly and we can’t wait to go back.

Our first visit and definitely not our last. The service was excellent and the food was really good with a very varied menu. There was 4 of us celebrating a birthday and after advising them beforehand an ice cream with a candle was presented.

I am ashamed that I went here! Waitresses are getting treated horribly by the older staff in front of my eyes, this is not acceptable. Me and my husband had to leave this bad energy environment. Never going there again.

Wonderful experience. Greeted and seated quickly by smiling staff. The usual offer of drinks accompanied the menu. Menu covered pretty much everything one would look for inan Italian restaurant. Atmosphere was really upbeat with lively chatter all around. Order was taken and food delivered promptly, hot and clearly just out of the oven/pan. The open kitchen is encouraging. Obviously nothing to hide except a hard working chef and his team who worked quickly throughout the evening. It is reassuring to be able to see your dinner being prepared. Food was delicious. Everyone happy. We were never rushed and felt completely relaxed the whole time we were there. Toilets clean and smart. Add to the revisit list for sure.

It's my favourite restaurant in the town. Food is always consistently excellent. Love watching chef work at the pizza oven, hearing the Italian accents. Spice calzone is a must try. Booking table is recommended.

Had an absolutely delicious meal here for our anniversary Sadly the service was awful. We had to constantly ask for service our drinks were forgotten. Table was not cleared until we asked. I understand it was busy but not once did anyone come to us until we asked them. Such a shame as the food was great.

My wife and I have visited for the first time this evening and had a truly wonderful couple of hours. A belated birthday treat for my wife, this place was the perfect venue to celebrate her special day. The welcome we received when we entered was first class, Behzad was an absolute legend this evening. His serving and personality is a credit to the place. But, all of the staff were friendly and very attentive. The food was superb. Cooked magnificently. The flavours were just so good. The Chilean Bottle of Red Wine was tasty. We had 3 courses and finished it off with an Irish Coffee and an Amaretto Coffee. We highly recommend this place. It is an absolute gem in Newton Abbot and one we will be returning to for sure. Been twice, both times were positive. Lovely food, although pricey, it’s worth it. Always kept nicely and fairly quick service.

I came here for a meal on my birthday weekend. They asked at the start if we were there for a special occasion so my friend mentioned it. When my dessert came out, they surprised us by singing happy birthday and there was a candle in it! It was so thoughtful and made me feel like they really listen and take care. The food was delicious and so was the wine!

Our mains came out extremely quickly after ordering (5 minutes) and once they were put on our table service became non existent. We were not asked if we wanted any more drinks throughout our meal and when plates were finally cleared we weren’t asked if we wanted anything else or a dessert menu (we would have ordered both more drinks and desserts if offered!). I had the ‘linguine pesto Rossi’ which was bland and contained no more than 4 small pieces of chicken, along with 3 pieces of spinach and 2 sun dried tomatoes. My husband had the ‘Pollo alla Crema’ at £20 and this was extremely oily. He didn’t feel well for the rest of the evening. Nobody came to the table to offer us our bill so I had to go up to the bar to arrange to pay. I explained we had been waiting for over half an hour and was just met with a blank look from staff. They knocked the price of our two drinks from the bill but we ended up coming away £40 lighter, disappointed and feeling quite unwell! This is the first poor experience we have had in local restaurants and we will not be returning.

By far the best Italian restaurant I have been to ìn the South West. Multiple visits, never disappointed.

Decor is nice enough and the host was welcoming but the food was pretty poor and service was also lacking. Pizzas lacked flavour so little sauce that it was very hard to actually locate on or in the pizza. Ribeye steak was too thin to be able to be cooked properly and waiters/waitresses had to be prompted for everything.

Myself and my mother came to Ricca's a couple a days ago and we loved it . Everything from the atmosphere, the cleanliness of the place to the attentiveness of the lovely waiters. The food was delicious and the closest to real Italian food I have had in this country . It was delicious. Reasonable price too. We had some breads with balsamic vinegar and oils, then a starter to share for two people which was so much we took the rest home and two big portions of fusilli al pesto and a couple of Peronis , it came to £50 . Will definitely come again.

My Wife & I visited due to us waiting for our daughter to arrive at Newton Abbot Train Station. We had a fantastic meal. My wife had a lovely chicken dish and I had the lamb on a bed of potatoes and leeks. I also asked the waiter if they also do tiramisu and not only did they do it but it was also home made and amazing. We are so impressed by this restaurant that my Wife and I brought our son a voucher for Christmas for him and his Girlfriend.

The meal was probably one of the best I've had in a long time in Devon.

The family just had a meal at Ricca's and it was fantastic. I had the lamb rump with sauteed potatoes and a redcurrant jus which was great. My wife had the burger, and she said it was the best she's ever had. My daughter and her boyfriend both had pizzas and they both loved them! There were another eight of us who also loved their food. The price was reasonable, and the staff were friendly so I would definitely recommend this place for a night out.

Worse Italian restaurant. Sea food Risotto have such poor quality mussels and praws, artificial sauce with overcooked rice, not like arborio. Not home made juice sauce, it taste like supermarket sauce. Overpriced.

So glad we did a quick search of the area whilst visiting and were fortunate enough to find this restaurant and be very impressed / reassured by the great reviews and lavish photography of the restaurant interior. Cannot endorse this eatery enough, it was fantastic from start to finish, warmly welcomed on arrival. Decor was stylish yet very cosy, Xmas decorations were nicely done. Excellent attentive, friendly service, great to be able to see the bar and kitchen areas, food was very authentic, starters and main courses arrived very speedily. Tried the cocktails which were beautifully garnished and very rich and luxurious (piña colada and amaretto sour x 2 because they were so good!), so obvious when a decent cocktail has been made from quality ingredients! Courses were wonderful, authentic textures - ravioli/pasta perfectly al dente, strong flavours, bruschetta crisp and steamy hot/fresh! The marinated olives were very tasty indeed! …it kept on getting better, I’m not normally one for having a sweet tooth but the panna cotta, Raspberry/Lemon parfait and Tiramisu were possibly some of the greatest desert experiences I’ve had. This was the best meal I’ve had in a long while (The Sorting Room, Cardiff), true, quality Italian cuisine! We were inclined to order/spend more than we might normally as we were so impressed with the food/drink, the set menu and courses were very reasonably priced. Impeccably clean and pleasant facilities too, could not fault this business at all, such a great evening. The standard is high along Queen Street, but this was seriously impressive, try it - you will not be disappointed! It’s clear that this restaurant is already very popular - superb establishment!

Had the absolute pleasure of trying Ricca’s new Christmas menu and WOW it did not disappoint! I was torn between every single item on the menu but had the meat fiesta calzone and was blown away by how good it was! Everything was beautifully presented, the food came very quickly and tasted delicious! The restaurant looked absolutely stunning and everything was very authentic. Thank you for a wonderful dining experience, we will be back very soon!

We were on holiday in the area and looking for an Italian for lunch. So glad we found Ricca's it really is very nice indeed. Very quiet but still a good atmosphere and the food was excellent. The Tuscan potatoes are superb!!! Great pasta and great service it's all you need. We will visit again when in the area.

Insane food and friendly staff, would highly recommend, traditional Italian food and large portions so good value for money. One of the best Italian food I’ve had have. Definitely be revisiting soon.

I went to Ricca’s with my wife last night for a spontaneous date night. We are regulars to the restaurant as quite honestly; nothing compares anywhere else in the local area. I fondly remember our first visit to Ricca’s where owner, Hilda, proudly told me “I just want all of our customers to feel like they’re eating round a friends house” and this is certainly always the case. The whole team is so hospitable and the food is genuinely out of this world!! I didn’t think anything could beat the king prawn starter I usually go for, but after being able to sample the new Christmas menu last night, I personally recommendation the Brushcetta alla Genovese - it was absolutely unreal and the ridiculously huge calzone meat fiesta was incredible!

We sampled Riccas Christmas menu and it was delicious. We shared the garlic mozzarella bread (a whole pizza) and Brushetta alla Genovese to start, followed by the sea bass. The welcome is always so friendly and the food is delicious. Their Christmas menu is 3 courses for just £32.99! Thank you for a lovely evening as always The Devon Social x

We found this on Tripadvisor as we do most of our places to eat. Well what a high end restaurant it is inside , very smart and spotless . Called with no booking at around tea time , lovely lad served us, very happy to help with our choice of food , explained how things were cooked and what they had in them. Next came the food . Starters were beautiful then mains ….well it was one of the best Lasagna we ever had, and believe me we eat a lot of lasagna. Garlic bread definitely worth having , very differently done to the normal . You must visit if in the area. Shame we found this at the end of our holiday or we would have gone again .

I have been to riccas on several accasions. And have had a great meal..but unfortunately the meal of chicken in a picon sauce was quite greasy. The lasagne was tasty this is why I have I gave it 3 stars ...the staff were very friendly and professional it was just my meal which did not stand up to park this time...

Lovely food. Good service. Yes I think them offering you a drink when you first sit down would be better rather than waiting for it, but overall it was great and I shall likely return.

What can I say, it was an absolutely amazing meal out, service was spot on, so polite and friendly, food was outstanding! Best meal out I have ever had! We will be back many times, looking forward to our next visit
