Booked a meal for 16 people on Monday 9 December. Everybody thought the food was absolutely wonderful. We all had different starters, mains and puddings which were delicious and served all at the same time and all food was hot. The roast potatoes were fab. Well done Barbara and Mike xx

The Ring O' Bells is located on Church Lane not far from the centre of Marple. It has a large car park with plenty of parking. The pub was clean, warm and well presented. It comprises a number of small rooms and an outside canal terrace. There were 4 real ales on offer all from the Robinson's stable: Trooper, Unicorn, Dizzy Blonde and Tom & Berry. The lagers were limited to the expensive premium end e.g Birra Moreti £6.10 per pint. The menu was varied and the food was cooked and presented to a good standard. The service was good and I would recommend a visit if you are in the area.

Nice pub, good friendly service. Just one comment about the Sunday roasts - the vegetarian option was disappointing - a large Yorkshire pudding with veg. It really needed the addition of a nut roast or good quality vegetarian sausage to make it a well balanced meal.

Came here with the family (3 yr old and newborn). Very accommodating to fit the pram and I had roast beef the wife was on roast turkey, they did gluten free gravy and Yorkshire pudding for my wife and the title speaks for itself. Food was fantastic the roast potatoes done to perfection nice and crispy but fluffy inside. All finished with a nice pint of trooper. My lad is a really fussy eater, they did a small toddler portion and he cleared his plate, he was also very partial to the swede, broccoli and cauliflower! Great hosts and a great local Robinson pub!

We had Sunday lunch here. I had turkey, which came with a generous portion of fresh vegetables, Yorkshire pudding, stuffing, & roast potatoes. My wife had the naked Sunday lunch, basically a large Yorkshire pudding filled with vegetables and gravy. It is disappointing that there was no Vegan Sunday lunch option, for example fake meat or a nut roast. Despite this disappointment this was the best Robinson's pub we ate in during our holiday. The pub is dog friendly in certain rooms. There was a stupid rule that water could not be served to dogs inside the pub, only outside. Other Robinson's pubs we visited during our holiday had water bowels inside. There was a dog menu available, but we didn't try anything from it. I had a desert which was nice. Our food and drinks were £25 per head. The pub is in a good location in Marple, right by the canal. Note We only ate and dank here. We didn't stay in the accommodation.

My first time here, walking down the stone steps to the outside seating area made me feel like I was in a little French canal side retreat. It was beautiful, calming and perfect for a sneaky drink after a walk. Dog friendly too 🐶. Apparently it's banging at weekend and has live bands. 🎸

Just had lunch at The Ring O'Bells - we looked at the menus etc yesterday and decided to have lunch here. Had a good walk along the canal and as I used to live in Marple, it was good to be back. The pub is really nice inside, very clean, with a well organised, friendly and helpful staff. The decor was lovely, lots of nice touches with flowers on the tables, good S&P sets and a pair of scissors to go with the sachets of sauces - very thoughtful. We had ciabatta with fries, I had brie and cranberry sauce and my partner had the ham and cheese ciabatta. The fries were very hot and tasty and best of all, crisp! The lunch was one of the best we have had. A bit cool to sit outside, but the seating area looked really good too. Just a great pub

Unfriendly and made to feel unwelcome. Called in early evening when there were 2 other customers and having ordered a pint and stood at the bar was told that I have to sit down because they don’t allow standing at the bar. Fair enough if crowded but not so when no one in. Shame really because it was a decent pint but I was made to feel really unwelcome as a visitor to the town. I was told to sit down by a young lady who said it was because the landlord might come down….really!

3 of us and went for Sunday Lunch. There was a good choice as well as small options for the roast dinners, which we chose. The roast beef and turkey were cooked to perfection and the veg arrived separately so you could help yourself to how much you wanted, better than having an overfilled plate. The smaller option was plenty for us and there was a good variety of puddings. The staff are all very friendly and we will certainly be going back again.

Nice place, although let down the inability to browse and order at the bar. This loses the welcoming feel of a traditional pub. Edit to business reply: Hopefully the landlord/lady is keeping an eye on how their management are responding to friendly feedback and opt to address this soon. I don't think there is anything wrong with offering table service, quite the opposite. My point was that the old fella behind the bar quickly ushers new customers away when they arrive and want to browse what drinks are available before sitting down. I'd love to know what's actually wrong with standing near a bar in a public house to be fair? Perhaps another sign could be introduced to avoid this confusion...

This pub could (and should) be amazing. The canal side location is second to none and the outside of the pub is done beautifully with a huge gazebo for shade/shelter. My second visit to this place, again assaulted as soon as I walked in with curt instructions table service, which is what they want. Orders for drinks would take time as they are unable to give you a full verbal range, price and offers if available, so a walk back to the bar to make a selection, very tedious. Was informed food from 1800 that's ok I thouht then after being told all tables reserved with a menu on the table, but all tables had a reserved sign on, slightly confusing. The icing on the cake was after all the faffing was then informed that due to a few reservations I counted 4 they could not do food till 1830. If they can't manage I think a new chef and manager ... it is not a right fancy quality menu and food steaks n pies n fish with bit of garnish ...... caused us much amusement would not recommend it.

Nothing is too much trouble and the warm and cosy atmosphere is fantastic. My Sunday roast had a very generous serving of melt in the mouth beef. The well cooked fluffy roast potatoes and swede mash were so full of flavour. Truly in food heaven after savouring my delicious desert of golden syrup sponge and custard - yummy! Love the great table service only idea. Drinks were served within minutes of ordering even though the pub was busy. *-Editing this review to show that the owner doesn’t take criticism very well. I have not used my real name due to wanting to remain anonymous. It’s bold of you to assume “I man up” just showing your true colours with these ludicrous responses.* We came to the Ring O’Bells for a roast dinner a few weeks ago despite reading the reviews. When we arrived we were greeted by a grumpy old chap (who we assumed to be the landlord - most likely the same person replying in the rude manner to all of the reviews). We both ordered the beef roast at £13.90 which we deemed quite reasonably priced before it arrived at the table. When it came we were amazed at how hard the veg was. If you like your veg al denté, even this would be a stretch too far! I really feel for the older, regular pool clientele who they clearly favour service for here. They must be struggling to chew the veg which was practically raw. That’s before we even mention how leather-like the beef was and the gravy was practically like water. We didn’t dare to complain to the grumpy landlord in fear of the hostile retaliation that he clearly gives. I have greaves this review with two stars purely because of the nice location and ease to the canal, however not much can be said for the service or owner. If you’re a local to Marple, there are plenty of nicer pubs nearby with a warm atmosphere such as the Norfolk arms which offer great food and amazing hospitality. I wouldn’t bother giving the Ring O’Bells a chance if you were debating it like ourselves.

****Edit following response by owner: I think your response was a bit rude as I wasn't slagging off your pub, I just thought it strange with the early weekend close and the table service as its not something other pubs do since covid restrictions have been lifted, and I did say it was a lovely pub. And to be honest I didn't see the sign stating you close early, if I had it wouldn't have been a surprise. However after your reply I won't be back, don't worry. And as for you saying about my review of another pub with a disco, we didn't realise before we went in that it was on, but stayed as we wanted to warm up a bit. The whole point of Google reviews is for the public to give their opinion in order for businesses to get feedback, good or bad, and I gave my honest one, we had actually gone out of our way to visit your pub and were disappointed we couldn't stay longer, and like I said we would have liked to return in the summer to enjoy your beer garden as our experience had not put us off your pub, but unfortunately your rudeness and inability to take a slight critisim has definitely sealed it for me that I will not return. I have knocked my rating down to 2 stars purely due to your rude reply. And after reading some of the replies you have given to anyone who has dared to give you less than 5 stars or found any kind of fault in your pub, then I can see that you are just a very rude individual who cannot take any kind of negative feedback and thinks the right way to respond is with unnecessary rudeness. I think you need to rethink how you talk to customers, as good customer service goes a long way. **** Bit of a strange time there. Lovely pub inside and out, and we'd have loved to have stayed longer but couldn't due to the fact that they closed at 10pm on a Saturday night!!! We were enjoying our drinks and were going to order more (another strange thing...... Table service) but were asked to pay and leave as they were closing. I've never been in a pub that shuts at 10pm on a Saturday and was very disappointed that we had to leave. I'd like to go back during summer as I believe they have a lovely beer garden on the canal, but I don't think I'd go back at night. So the 2 downsides of this pub are the early close, and it being table service only, I'd much prefer to get my beer from the bar when I want it rather than have to wait for someone to take my order and then wait for them to bring it.

Had the pizza & a pint £10 deal a few times, its really good quality. Now also doing toasties & soup etc Megan the Landlady is so friendly & professional, she is really breathing fresh life into the Gardeners, it's more welcoming than ever. The Christmas decks we're a labour of love, well done her for putting the effort in... All staff are friendly & welcoming. Hopefully the brewery continues to invest, The Gardeners Arms deserves progressive improvement, the beer garden, a former car park has much potential... And the front could do with a touch up.

Really nice pub, food was good and service was excellent. And literally a stones throw away from the train station.
