Not a bad place for fish and chips. We ordered the cod loin fish and chips regular. It was quite big, as the server had suggested because they also ran out of the large. The fish itself was yummy, crispy and soft and succulent on the inside. The chips were a bit underwhelming, big, thick and lacked luster. We also got the housemade coleslaw ( it was da-licious) and the mushy peas were alright. The takeaway menu prices are half of dinning in. It was quite pricey being from Canada, eating here. The reason we checked it out was because of Instagram post about this place being the oldest.

Nice location, iconic place to eat typical Fish and Chips. Very good and that's why you have to wait a bit. I recommend the nearby rooms, in the central one you will get a bit of fried flavour. Wide choice, from cod to sole, I really didn't expect so much goodness. Overall good prices. You are in London.

I would say experience here is pretty pretty amazing~ Fish and chips, amazing~ beer, fantastic. Service, very satisfied. I got recommendation on their traditional beer, which was about a little bit costly £7.5, but I have never ever enjoyed such a smooth beer. The volume is 4%, but is more tasty, drinkable and smooth compared with other beers at supermarkets. It's not that cheap, but that's why you are here, that's why you choose this one of the best Fish and chips restaurants. What I also want to say is that I searched for restaurants on Xiaohongshu, and then I was attracted to this restaurant not far from KCL strand. When I arrived, I discovered that this restaurant was the same restaurant I ate at when I visited the UK in 2018. I brought a friend here this time, and I found it by accident. It’s really unbelievable that there is such a coincidence!

Great fish and chips. Was very excited to try and it lived up to the hype! Was a little greasy but was amazing food. Just a little too expensive for my liking. I would consider going somewhere else that’s a little bit cheaper if you are on a budget but if you don’t mind spending a little more money this is the place to go.

Great place to grab a fish and chips! Nice portion sizes. Polite and friendly staff, just make sure you reserve a spot if you plan on visiting, otherwise they might have trouble seating you as the shop is not that big. Hope to return in the future!

Best fish n' chips restaurant in London

this place is expensive and the food is bad, probably not their fault tho, coming from MX you get what you expect from this cuisine, which is no flavour at all, this is definitely a one time thing and not only in this place, so if you come from a country where food is actually good, try it but don’t expect anything at all

I visited at noon on Sunday and had to queue. The store clerk arranged for us to sit outside and wait, and then turned on the heater, which was very warm. There are many different types of fish to choose from. I tried the classic cod loan. The meals were large and delicious. Although the price is on the high side, it is the normal consumption level in London. It is worth a try when walking around!

We were a bit skeptical at first but it was a great show. All three comedians were great and the host amazing.

Best fish and chips in London. Location with tradition of thousans years. When we ve been there we waited a 15-20 minutes queue. The service was perfect and very fast and personal was very kind. We paid aprox 35£ for a portion and a drink. Food was divine.

I have visited this place twice as a tourist. Always found a place to sit, even with a lot of friends. Prices are relatively ok for the middle of London and in a restaurant with so much history. Haddock is a must have for me!!!

Nice fish and chips and calamari. Lemon Sole was nice, tasty, and not soggy. The tartare sauce was good too. We sat outside, so didn’t know the feels inside.

This was my third visit on new years eve. The portions have become smaller. I also found a few bones in my cod. The waiters were rushing everyone as they wanted to close early which is understandable but wasn’t nice for the customer. The staff did not come and ask if we need anything else.

Better to book! The decoration is very simple, the service is impeccable, and above all the fish and chips are super good! Yes it's a little expensive, but the quantities are very generous. For two normally built women, the maxi version for one person is more than sufficient. For a good eater, the Regular version is also very sufficient... even the desserts are good, tested by two teenagers!

It is debatable whether it is the best in London, but it is one of the oldest. This restaurant has been operating since 1871. I have had better fish and chips in London, but it is a more traditional place in terms of preparation. The interior is nice. The price-performance ratio is balanced. The portions are very filling. Either make a reservation before going or take your time and get in line. It is always a very busy place.

This restaurant has been around for over a 153 years and I’ve got to say it’s the best cooked, most flavourful and tasty fish and chips I’ve ever had in my life. The batter on the fish is amazing and not too oily or thick. The portion size is great and I recommend the large cod which was amazing. Also the house beer washes it down nicely in combination with the house chips which are cooked to perfection and finished with the bitterness of the malt vinegar. Definitely recommend booking a day in advance so you can get a good seat inside.

Fish and chips one of the best in London without a shadow of a doubt after years of failed attempts. Crunchy but not greasy breading, delicious soft fish, juicy, good chips. The service is a bit messy, the place is very small and spread over several rooms but the tables are practically glued together. Very quick in service. Once the dish is finished they will bring you the bill, a "kind" way of telling you that: "you have to go!" “. Price in line with London costs.

....not great . Not worth the price. Didn't taste like anything. Literally nothing at all. Lacked flavour for sure! Barely any crunch on the fish. Mostly soggy. And tasteless Had to periodically drown it in salt and vinegar Chips didn't have any flavour. Was also drowning in the same mix of a LOT of salt + malt vinegar. Definitely a disappointing experience. Only thing that had flavour was the tartar sauce. 1st time having fish & chips in london / UK....and I've had muchhhhhh better in Toronto and other places. This was sad. Don't know why people speak so highly about it. I wasted £21 and didn't even finish half the cod. Or chips... would NOT recommend

The fish and chips was okay. It was hot just thought the fish could have been tastier. The batter had no flavor. The place is also very small and very tight. We got luckily to be in the back by the wall.

Horrible experience for a place that has been there since 1871. They could add some sort of structure on the outside tables to stop the freezing cold breeze and give a better experience. I froze to death today. The worst part is that the employee at the door told us we wouldn’t be able to have a table inside because it was for reservations only… come to find out that wasn’t the case and it seemed the employee picked and chose who got an inside table, based on a personal preference.

Quality normal, way overpriced. NOT SAFE FOR CELIACS!! They offer gluten free batter, but no separate fryer. My sister is not the most sensitive celiac or anything so that should not be a problem in and of itself, and we knew this in advance. They must have mixed up our orders or something because she has been vomiting all night.

I really recommend if you are into fish and chips. It is probably one of the best in London. The Cod and chips was perfect, mushy peas was great, and the curry sauce was v.good. Camden town larger was also served cold and was great.

This has been a popular fish and chips place. A good variety of fish options is available. Portion of dish is generous enough to feed 1.5 person (but the shop has a 'minimum' order for each diner, which is understandable). Had cod+chips, haddock+chips, a platter and onion rings. All are delicious. Staff are all very welcoming.

We got the COD as they were out of Haddock. The fish was very flavourful tender. The batter they used as nice and crunchy. Only small complaint would be their chips are a little too soft and way too big. If you come here, you must try their toffee ice cream dessert, it was amazing and was the perfect dessert to top that meal off.

And once the plates are in front of us, we are impressed by the quantity!!! A huge piece of fish and big, generous fries. We enjoyed ourselves. And we discovered on the way out that it was an unmissable address in London.

Our first time at this fish and chip shop. Everything was outstanding. Chips were proper chips large and chunky. The cod was melt in the mouth. Fabulous mushy peas. The service was fantastic. Nothing too much trouble. Ambiance of a traditional chippy. The very first time of having fish and chips in London. Will definitely return every time we visit.

It's not my first visit, it dated from 2016 and it was excellent, so since then it's still the oldest fish and chip shop in London but it's very expensive and the quality of the benchmark dish is no longer there at all. It's not bad but there are better elsewhere in London and especially cheaper.

Came here today for lunch. There was a small queue on arrival but we were told it would only be a 5 minute wait, which ended up only be being 2-3 minutes. I ordered a regular cod & chips, which arrived in a timely manner especially considering how busy they were. The portion size was ample, both the fish and chips were well cooked and tasty and the homemade tartar sauce was delicious, the best I've ever tasted 👌

Small place, dry waiters, the bathroom leaving the restaurant passing a door entering the next place, going down...impossible for the elderly or babies. Not at all family friendly. The fish and chips were very delicious, but I wouldn't return because they made us feel uncomfortable with their treatment.

Despite being the oldest fish n chips shop, traditional cooking shows the lack of flavor. Fish was very generous but there's nothing special of the flavor. Batter was too weak and it was only better dipping it in the curry, not the tartar or lemon. Chips was chips, nothing special there either. Go for the gram, that's about it.

Initially everything was fine, the place was nice and the staff were friendly, the fish and chips itself was very good, except that we found a worm inside (anisakis probably). The waiters immediately took away our plate and offered dessert for two. They only charged us for one of the two fish and chips we ordered, but something like this is still unacceptable in a specialized restaurant. They should have at least had the sense to buy us all the dinner

I went for dinner, I made a reservation to avoid waiting in line, the fish was delicious, the taste of crushed peas did not suit me, I drank ale, they provide friendly service, they are very attentive. I paid a bill of GBP 33.75 on my own.

A fish and chip shop but they had no large cod! My regular cod arrived and was translucent and uncooked in the middle. This was a massive disappointment. I’ve never had that happen in my local chippy!!! It put me off the meal. The chips were gorgeous. The manageress was really lovely when I told her about the fish. I won’t be returning again.

Excellent fish and chips Very plentiful but you get what you pay for, to do but you have to book to get a table.

Drove 30 minutes and arrived at 9:15. The website says that they close at 10 yet when we got there, they said that they won’t seat us and that they’re only doing takeout. When we went to go inside to get some food to take out, they said that they sold out yet people were still outside eating and it appeared that they still had food. We said that we only want one portion, but they said that they didn’t even have that. Don’t have your close time at 10 PM and then have customers drive all the way there to be turned away. I don’t care how good the food is. I won’t be going out of my way to go to this place again and the people who worked here were far from accommodating and even seemed a little condescending.

What I love about this place is they do a variety of fish and chips. Me and my 2 friends ordered Skate, Cod and Lemon Sole with chips and some sides and Scampis. It was great comparing the different flavours. Tasty food and excellent customer service, especially Tim. I would recommend 😊👍.
