Thank you to Mete for your friendly service and fun attitude. The menu was very flexible. Some ate off Christmas menu and some ordinary menu. Place was very nicely decorated. I liked the beetroot wellington.

We were served by Hannah, who was very attentive & brilliant with our grandchildren. The food was good & everyone enjoyed it. The bar needed more staff as they struggled to keep up with orders & we waited quite a while for drinks.

Hannah was super helpful with serving us today for our Christmas lunch. The turkey dish was fantastic and so was the maple waffle, thoroughly enjoyed my meal - Great service thank you Hannah.!

myself and a friend had a nice meal then at 9 o clock a disco came on which was so loud we could not hear each other talk it was a row we then ordered 2 eton mess which we waited 35 mins for in a nearly empty pub we complained and was not charged as we waited too long our waitress cheyanne kept saying sorry she was very nice

Lovely pub, it was looking as though they might be booked up, even on a Wednesday lunchtime but Mete found a table for us. We sat in a lovely little corner, the service was quick and the food was very good and Mete made sure that we were looked after! I would definitely recommend it for food or just a drink!

Mete was our waiter and he was great, very friendly and suggested a baileys expresso martini which went down a treat. Lovely food, great service, thanks Mete.

We recently celebrated my Mum’s 60th at the Royal Oak. The team were super helpful, in particular Mikey, who helped from the point of the booking right until the party; helping to set evening up, arranging the music, and checking in througout the night to ensure everything was running smoothly. His attention to detail and constant support made the whole night easy and enjoyable. Thank you so much Mikey and team for making it such a great night for everyone!

I can highly recommend this welcoming pub just try the Sunday lunch. All fresh ingredients and a great plateful. Staff too are efficient and friendly. Nothing to much trouble.

Very clean restaurant with super friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. My salmon was cooked to perfection and my son had the fish and chips which he stated was some of the best he had tasted locally and he is a chef. I will be returning this week !

Very good Sunday roast, good service and a lovely atmosphere. I had a great chicken roast, the only thing were the veggie which weren’t the best, very little gravy, and potatoes were hard to even cut them up, but I will be definitely return!

Had dinner here last weekend with all the family, including two young kids. Our waiter Mete made sure to go above and beyond to make sure we were satisfied and was really paitent and friendly. The food was delicious and price was reasonable. Lived in chingford 3years now gutted we only just discovered it

My colleague and I popped in for lunch after a business meeting. It was quite busy. Mete greeted us warmly and seated us. A few things went wrong but he confessed he was new and did his utmost to ensure we had a good experience. There was a long delay before we received our coffees but mete kept us informed do we knew we weren’t forgotten. As I say it was busy. The food was delicious, the service was really good. Would definitely recommend.

A great get together again this month with our friends. We were served again by Cheyenne who as always served us in a professional and friends manner and with a big smile on her face. We always look forward to visiting this lovely pub restaurant for our monthly get together with our friends. Well worth our 60 mile round trip. We look forward to seeing you again next month.

Waiting and bar staff were incredibly nice and couldn't do enough for you. The food is a little pricy but it's excellent quality and large portions. I have a really good appetite but couldn't manage all of my main meal (Chicken Mixed Grill). I, of course, managed a dessert, though.

Very friendly staff, food excellent including a comprehensive gluten free menu , staff were busy so it took a little bit longer to order and receive our food, overall very nice will go back.

We were looking for somewhere to go for Sunday roast, we live on Chingford yet never tried the Royal Oak other them for drinks. It's dog friendly, and has a dog menu which is great, dogs being allowed in the bar and garden area only. We were immediately offered a water bowl for our dog. We ordered 2 prawn cocktails to start and 2 roast beef brisket, they'd run out of cauliflower cheese as a side order. We had to go put to the porch and get our own cutlery, napkins and condiments which wasn't advised till our food arrived when I asked for some. The prawn cocktail came, it was nicely presented, but soon realised the actual amount of prawn cocktail was very small, just padded out with lots of leaves. The beef brisket was poor cheap quality, roast potatoes hardly roasted, gravy wasn't great. We had a bottle of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, which was nice and chilled, best part of the meal. All very underwhelming and forgettable, a real shame as it's a lovely pub.

Just returned home after a great Sunday roast chicken lunch. Cooked to perfection, it was well presented, polite, engaging and happy staff team, thank you.

Very friendly service, had a nice meal and sampled the cask ale. The prices are reasonable and it's a very pleasant environment.

Nice pub. Pretty large. One of those that people go to on a Sunday to eat a roast and have a drink. Didn't eat but food looked good. Beer v good. McMullen mild. Sat out front. Friendly locals.

Food is good and the staff are always polite and friendly..

We decided to pop into the Oak on a Tuesday just for a quick evening meal. We got there and it seemed a bit busy but thought it should be ok. I asked the server who greeted me if we could have a menu, only to be told that we should have booked a table and they wouldn’t be able to serve us for at least 30 minutes and we should have a drink first. To be honest I should have called it at that point. We bought a drink and waited for the allotted 40 minutes and I went back to ask about ordering and the server then told me that the food wouldn’t be out for at least another 30 to 40 minutes. At this point we called it and went somewhere else and got served straight away. I am just not sure why Tuesday evenings at the oak are so busy but I won’t be back to find out why.

Absolutely amazing night, had my husband’s 50th birthday celebration here and it was the best night. Buffet food was delicious, and the staff were so friendly. They couldn’t do enough for us, it was great to have them share the night with us. Lauren has been so amazing with planning the event and will be missed. Mikey, thank you for everything, we’ll see you soon! Thanks also to the bar staff on shift on Saturday 6th July, (sorry not sure of everyone’s names) you are all so friendly, and welcoming. Hope you enjoyed the chocolate lol!

Pleasant friendly staff, good food and service.

We came here without a booking on a Friday night and we was welcomed in to a nice large table by a nice lady called Cheyanne Denton who kindly cleaned our tables and made us feel comfortable arriving. Cheyanne was very polite, and delivered excellent customer service The menu isn't the largest. There was plenty of options to choose from and the dishes we did get were all cooked brilliantly and packed full of flavour, we was not disappointed at all and said as soon as we finished we definitely will be returning! All very responsibly priced too. Thank you to Cheyannes hospitality.

I came in with my husband for a few drinks on Sunday after a long day. We were served by a young lady called shyanne that was working behind the bar, she was very pleasant and welcoming made our evening here even more enjoyable. Please tell her thank you for her lovely presence and we hope that when we return she will be working.

Lovely local pub with great service, I was served by a bartender called Cheyanne very chatty and customer friendly. Will defiantly come by I’ve been in the area for a while now and glad I found a great local.

Had a family gathering at the chingford Royal Oak. Its a great venue, very clean, and staff were excellent. Food was excellent. The pub was busy, and unlike most pubs, when I was waiting at the bar, Ben and Mel acknowledge I was waiting. Something simple, but so important when you are waiting and ensures you know you are not being ignored. Thanks Mel and Ben and the rest of the team.

Eight of us visited last Tuesday (25th June), when we got there we had been given a table with bench seats , when we made the booking we asked for chairs as we are all elderly and I am disabled. It was easily rectified by a member of staff who was only too happy to help. The food was excellent. I had the cod and smoked bacon fish cakes which I thought at first was a rather strange combination but they were delicious. Our waitress Cheyanne was also excellent, nothing too much for her and always smiling, she even came to the table to take my money as I find it hard to keep getting up and down, all in all a very pleasant lunch, we shall certainly be visiting again. Well done to all the staff

I had lunch with my daughter today and we shared a few starters. The food was delicious and the presentation was excellent. Well done to the cook Freddy for such tasty food. So much thought and care was taken with the presentation and everything was cooked just right. Definitely will visit again.

Beautiful change in management! I went travelling for a few months with my partner so have not visited in a while but the change in management is superb! I used to come here every so often as it was a middle place to meet family and friends. The team seemed unhappy and drained and the manager was never happy to be there. The recent changes have made such a positive difference. The team are happy to work and said how much better it has been for them recently as I mentioned the difference. Menu has changed which is nice to see good to switch it up Roll on summer! Very well done Chris!

New to the area. We moved 6 months ago and eventually checked out the Oak at the end of our road. We'll be regulars. Everything was great and the food outstanding. It was our wedding anniversary, the staff did not know this but were so attentive, professional and brilliant it was as if they knew!! The take away is that they treat their customers like it was an anniversary.

Staff amazing n so friendly. They made me feel special on my birthday even though they didn't know it was my birthday!. A last min thing that my mate had said... The manageress, piper a cracker n not forgetting Lauren!. Not forgetting the men staff!. A lovely bunch ... Thanks you lovely people x

Dear Team We had a meal on Sunday 19th May at the Royal Oak. We unfortunately arrived a little late and there were only 4 of us and not the 6 that I had booked for. The young lady who greeted us was excellent. She didn’t make a fuss and a lovely table in the corner with a bench seat and cushions had been reserved for us. We were also offered the option of eating outside. I would like to say a special thank you to the young lady who served us. She was excellent, polite and extremely helpful. My adult daughter felt light headed at the table as she had run a half marathon earlier. The young lady who served us brought my daughter some coke to drink and chocolate to eat as we suspected her blood sugars were low. It did the trick! Please thank her. Thank you again. I could see how busy the restaurant was and could also see how hard working all your staff were. Best wishes Carol McLeod

We popped down while we were having a walk for a drink, but it was more of a kind of sitting place. There was too much ice on my cider; unfortunately, I struggled to drink, and the chip portion was tiny, but the staff was friendly and helpful.

Worse Sunday roast ! Ordered a lamb shank had to used a knife to cut it ! meant to come off with your fork ! potatoes were deep fried nearly broke my tooth vegetables were hard didn’t have any seasoning! Told the staff at the end really should have sent back the food but being easter thought what’s the point ! manager reply saying to email him so i emailed him and what a surprise no reply ! He see the pictures and thought what can i say to this customer !

Went here for a buffet following a funeral. Private area allocated away from main bar which was ideal for the occasion Choice of sandwiches, hot food and nibbles accompanied by tea/coffee for those not wanting a drink from the bar.

Food is excellent 👍 I've ordered a Vegan Burger, it was delicious. My work colleagues had fish & chips, chicken, Burgers, mixed salad. Everyone was happy, no one had a complaint. It's a pub atmosphere, with outdoor sitting. A beautiful ambient all around. Free parking available.

Excellent service with tasty food. When we said there was a nut allergy, the waiter first checked their list of ingredients before confirming the order was nut free. Nice touch. Very friendly place with very friendly but professional staff. Highly recommended.

Went for Sunday lunch with husband and his mum. Luckily, we booked as it was busy, and they were turning people away. There didn't seem to be as many staff as I'm the past so was expecting a long wait but no, the South African guy ( sprry can't remember his name) at the door took us to our table between phone calls. He then also managed to take orders and bring our drinks over. All this whilst checking in to see if our food was ok. He managed to do this to everyone whilst still greeting people on the door. A great new addition to their staff team.

Came for a few drinks after work. I was served by Sam and Kayleigh. They were very helpful and helped me get a cab home which I appreciated a lot. I wouldnt drink in any other place as there safe place to drink

Please do not listen to these reviews. It’s utter rubbish. All the staff including Chris, Lauren, Mel, Sam etc. are lovely. Very attentive. I’ve drink in this pub for 30+ years and have seen staff come and go. The current staff are so friendly and listen to the customers. Yes when off duty they come and drink with the regulars but that’s their down time we love the fact that they have got to know us. This pub is very busy and there are times that they cannot accommodate a walk-in for food but that’s not that staffs fault. Make sure you book in advance. Food is excellent and the atmosphere in the pub is brilliant. I wouldn’t be drinking in here if it wasn’t a fabulous local. Keep up the good guys.

Had a meal with friends and was greeted by Lauren and I must say was very impressed with her service was greeted with a smile and was very knowledgeable about the menu answered all my questions about the menu and recommended one of the dishes which was lovely thank you Lauren will defo come back again
