Rudy's Pizza Napoletana - Portland Street in Manchester

We arrived and the person at the desk made us wait because he said their are running late I requested a table upstairs near the toilets which we didn’t get even though I booked 24 hours in advance , we waiting and we’re eventually seated, we ordered our drinks while’s we waited for our drinks the waiter came to us twice asking us to order but we we are still waiting for our drinks so it didn’t make sense why he was rushing us, after waiting for our drinks when eventually we received them I just about took my first sip the waiter came again and asking us to order, I had to tell him again please wait till we had our first drinks , after half way during our drinks he came again so we decided to order because we were feeling rushed! My 3 friends ordered their pizza I told him I will order ones I had my drink, after I had my drink I ordered my food, while waiting for my food we got moved to another table which is fine because they had to put our table together with another one to cater for a big party, after moving us to another table and me having finished my food I got charged with a service charge of £10 I realised this charge after getting home! We were 4 people not 6!

really nice place, very authentic menu, and a very, very relaxed atmosphere :) loved the staff, served well & very kind!! especially jess r :) the pizza's were probably the best i've had in manchester, and the tiramisu couldn't have been better <3

I can’t rate the food because unfortunately I didn’t get to eat anything! I popped in on a Saturday night at around 9pm hoping to get a takeaway pizza. I appreciate it was very busy inside but I was stood at the door with a queue forming behind me and every single member of staff completely ignored me as I was waiting and made no eye contact. I had to stop a girl in the end and she told me I could order takeaway at the back and gave me a menu. I was then choosing a pizza when another young man told me the kitchen was now closed for takeaway pizzas which I found rather odd for a Saturday night but clearly they’d had enough for the night!

Staff are a credit to you guys❤️ everybody is so friendly in there, we have visited a few times Now and each time we have received the same level of quality and customer service, especially since we visited on New Year’s Eve which was busier than the previous few times!

Yummy pizza and fantastic service

We got rushed out of the place! We couldn’t even enjoy a chat between us for a few mins in peace without the wether keeping on harassing us to order our food when we told him we want to have our drinks first in peace! We will not be returning to this branch as the other branches have never made us feel like that!! Plus we got charged a service fee! We were a group of 4, we didn’t get the table upstairs as requested! The drinks took almost 30 mins to arrive!

Amazing food. Was a bit noisy and I couldn't see the specials board without standing over someone's table. Other than that everything else was amazing.

Total rip off. Didn’t know they charge for a topping every time you add one. Silly system, bread is good though.

A 10/10. I have never received such a fantastic pizza. You can watch pizza being made. The staff is always friendly and asks about allergies and intolerances. Simply fantastic. The normal pizza is also huge.

Mega atmosphere. Very Neapolitan pizza so if you like thicker dough base this is not the pizza for you. We took one Margarita and it was ok and the second one was Pepperoni and it was not what we expected. There were trace amounts of pepperoni but whole slices. Really nice service. It is better to book a table in advance, we were straight from the street but the very nice service found a table for us. I am not sure if we will go back there but if you want to eat pizza like in Italy then go ahead and go there. The prices are good and not excessive.

One of the best pizzas I've ever had. It was so good I want to go back. Good quality ingredients. In my opinion the music was too loud but I didn't think anyone else was bothered by it.

Something so unique and so special for us. The staff it’s so friendly and the food it’s so delicious. Prices so cheap and worthy every pound. Can’t wait to come again in Manchester and enjoy the food here.

Genuinely shocked by how much I enjoyed my pizza. I visited Salerno in Naples a few years ago and no pizza has ever come close until I tried Rudy's this weekend. I'll definitely be back to try more but I highlight recommend the Portobello!

Really good food, probably best to book as we had to come back 45 minutes later, pretty good service but did find that our table was a bit close to the next one which made it hard to listen to conversation but I'd come back as it's a perfect place for lunch as its just off the arndale :)

The worst service I've ever experienced in Manchester. I had a reservation but had to wait around 30 minutes to get a table. My group of 7 people was forced to stand in front of the hectic bar where every staff annoyingly passed through us. Even though we were exhausted and starving because we had just arrived from London, we were not able to sit anywhere even without a menu. They ignored us until I complained about the poorest service multiple times. A lady who was serving drink even yelled at me to wait a second (actually, it was over 10 minutes) when I tried to go to the till. Every staff member ignored us and showed different service standards to us. They just kept saying their excuse. We felt discrimination, which I've never experienced in Manchester while living here for over a year. Even though they proposed 2 garlic breads, it was not enough to make up for the worst service. Only the lady who served our table was super nice. Treat all customers equally and do your work. Customers are not your counselors. If you see problems, solve them, not transfer the issues to customers.

As always, ridiculously good pizzas, it's never an easy task to choose one because they're all so tasty. Also, special shout out to the beautifully kind waitress with the rose coloured wavy hair who genuinely made my year with her kindness this Friday evening, I find life so hard at times but then someone like her comes along with a small gesture & kind words and picks you up again.

Alice was amazing! We were there tonight celebrating our engagement, and she, and the management team, made sure the occassion was appropriately special! Alice is a testament to the mission mars values. She goes above and beyond the bare minimum that you get at other mission mars’ venues.

Favorite pizza spot in Manchester so far :)

One of the best pizzas I have ever eaten in my life. The pizza was large, and delicious. Yes, it is true that the price may seem a little high, but it is worth it, since the quality of the food is excellent. The cleanliness of the premises is correct, although not perfect, since the sink has some defects. If we talk about the service offered by the restaurant, it is very attentive and friendly, but as happens in many parts of the UK, the English they speak is too fast, so sometimes it is a little difficult to understand them. Finally, the restaurant is usually full (both times I was there, it was very busy, I don't know if it's always like that), so I recommend booking in advance.

The pizza is really surprising, unexpectedly delicious. The portion is large and you will feel tired after eating it.

I had really bad experience here yesterday with my friend. The short skinny woman who was taking the order was extremely rude to me. She asked my ID when I wanted to order drink which is fair enough but it never ever happened to me when I was sitting in the restaurant and felt me so uncomfortable. She was patronising to me about telling everything like my sayings to my friend and tried to make me silent because I was speaking with my friend when she was taking the order!!!! She said im asking to your friend not to you!!! There is also the blonde woman who was plating the pizzas was also quite rude and asked us to move our stuff from the table when we were having our meals! They actually ruined our evening!! I don’t think this kind of ppl should serve in the restaurants to anybody. Also I’ve been in other two Rudy’s restaurants and the ppl who work in there were so so nice!!

Great staff, excellent pizzas, good wine, good atmosphere and not expensive. A fast, high quality, good vibe pizza restaurant. First choice, along with pilgrims, when that's what you need.

They held on for a while, but Rudy's is just a corporate pizza chain now. Sweet corn on pizza and tenderstem replacing the friarelli are the nails in the coffin. It's convenient to Piccadilly Gardens, and better than Domino's or Papa John's. But I wonder for how long if they keep moving in this direction. The soul is gone.

Our favourite spot for date night! The food is soo good, genuinely tastes exactly like the pizza I've had in Naples, and so well priced. Cheaper than Pizza Express with about 10 times the quality. Our server was amazing and made our night really special as she brought us free prosecco and dessert for our anniversary which we didn't expect at all. All the staff were friendly and attentive, and smiled the whole time. Love it here

Pizza heavy to digest, base not crispy at all, it looks like plastic in the mouth. Far away from Italian pizza. In the kitchen nobody wear a cap. Not the best experience.

I may have encountered the most "know-it-all" waitress I've ever seen in my life. Her constant snooze, ridiculous hand gestures and off-putting facial expressions while pretending to do things I didn't, her constant attempts to justify himself, and all the while acting as if what she did was right. Do you think that's all? On top of that, she made the situation even worse by giving us orders and talking to us, and I'm not the only one at the table who thought this. She approached another friend of mine with the same disgraceful attitude, made her talk about her know-it-all nature, and put us all off our night.

I had had a late lunch soi needed a quick bit before gig we were going to. Natalie found this near by pizza place so we decided to share a pizza . We were quickly given a seat at the counter in the busy restaurant it was only 530 we had no reservations and it was only Wednesday. We watched the team make pizzas and within 15 mins we had our pizza and beer . Great service and beautiful pizza made the traditional way . For a pizza on the city go !! Here !!

Think Rudy's is a tiny bit over rated! Their pizza’s drop in temperate to COLD COLD in 5 mins, becoming so stale, after that it feels disgusting to eat tbh! Their crust, I know they boost about using their traditional Caputo Flour or some other sort but I still don’t think they’ve nailed their crust. It’s an absolute disaster. Don’t think anyone would have dined there and enjoyed eating the crust truly. I’ve dined many places where the crust is absolutely amazing! Also the customer service at this particular branch was absolutely awful! I’m surprised to see no reviews on that, no pizza cutters, and when we were given some, we were given one for a table of 6!!!! No check backs, didn’t know who is working their since they had no badge or uniform or indication, everyone was near the kitchen chatting, not smiling, just doing their job for the sake of it it seems, and it’s clear they only hire a specific ‘type’ of people who all sadly seemed uninterested, not helpful or kind, no one there who’d ever go overboard for any of the customers or chat besides amongst themselves or people similar to them. I’ve had amazing experiences at some other branches, but it’s been a pattern at few where all staff was very judgey? You can tell they gossip and laugh looking at your plate when you haven’t eaten the crust? Sorry it’s horrible 😂

The best pizza I had in Manchester. Recommended.

We came to this restaurant recommended by the guide who gave us the free tour and it was a true success. The Triple Pepperoni pizza was very delicious, although we were even more surprised by the bread with tomato and cheese (which was really another pizza, as can be seen in the photo). And if we liked the food, the service was excellent. We were served by a guy from Las Palmas named Borja and he was the best thing about the restaurant. He gave us very good recommendations and was very attentive at all times so that we did not miss anything. In short, a 10.

We took some friends to celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary! The food was incredible! They had never been before but were impressed but the food. Monica was such a lovely waitress and looked after us!she went above and beyond and is a real credit to the restaurant.A natural at her job and putting people at ease!

Absolutely spot on. They offer a great choice of fresh authentic pizza, which is good for sharing. The food is a good price and the staff are friendly. Really like the decor. One thing I will say about this place is it gets busy quickly so try to get there early. I also really like the garlic aoli dip .

we ordered 4 pizzas, the edge was crispy and delicious but the pizza itself was soggy from too much oil or whatever it was. we ordered an expensive wine that was served way too hot. a pretty bad experience

The service was incredibly fast, even during the busy rush hour. Despite the restaurant being full, I was able to find a seat at the counter and enjoyed watching the skilled pizza makers in action. Their speed and precision were impressive, and it was clear that they enjoyed their work. Rudy's Pizza offers not only delicious food but also a fun and energetic atmosphere. Very nice experience at Rudy's Portland Street. My friend had booked this for us for post half marathon run. The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was great. The food was also great, one of the better pizza's I have had. In addition the above the staff had decided to remove the cost of the garlic bread and ice cream we had ordered because we did the half marathon. This is a nice surprise, as we did not expect to be given those for free.

Triple Pepperoni Pizza. I expect that's what it's called. By God Almighty, it's the most delicious pizza I've ever eaten in my life. Beautiful, beautiful, so beautiful that I longed to eat in it again while I was getting out of it. The pepperoni pizza was the best pizza I have ever tasted in my life. I thank them from the bottom of my heart for the quality and deliciousness and I hope they give me a free pizza because I crave it now and I don't have money 😂👍

The staff here are incredible!! Not only is it delicious pizza, but the staff elevated the entire experience. My friend and I went recently, and unfortunately my friend had a seizure in the middle of our meal. The staff immediately helped us get to a more isolated area, provided us with water, and were very respectful during the seizure. After, we decided we were still hungry and ate part of our pizza. The staff then gave us our meal for free afterwards. Unfortunately, I don’t know specific names, but truly everyone was amazing. I will absolutely be going again and recommending this location to my friends. I’m extremely grateful for them!

Had been to the Northern Quarter branch and popped into Portland street as a pre theatre pizza with my son. Chantelle at reception gave us a warm welcome and initially wasn't able to offer us a table on a busy early evening, however very quickly she was able to make changes and we settled in and had a great pizza, great service from all the staff. Best pizza in town!

The waitress accidentally served us the wrong dish (maybe I wasn’t clear so I won’t fault her) but the dish that was wrongly order was the best one! Would recommend this place to anyone who wants good pizza!

I was left waiting for my pizza whilst the others in my party ate theirs. In fairness the waitress took my meal off the bill without me asking. I would give it a try again. Pizza was very nice.

Absolutely delicious Napoletana Pizza and they will tweek it as you like.

The pizzas here are the closest pizzas I found to be compared to the ones from my childhood in Italy. The tomato sauce and cheeses were amazing, really flavourful (you can tell they use good quality ingredients). The crust was so good too, being soft but slightly crunchy, with the flavour of a stonebaked pizza, just like authentic pizza's from Italy.

Awesome pizzas! There aren't many veggie options because the cheese they use isn't veggie, but there are several vegan options.

Well what a stunning afternoon lunch we just had. Food was fantastic and the service by Molly was impeccable. Fast service, the food was piping hot and delicious. Will will definitely be returning in the very near future. Thank you guys.

I don’t think the pizzaiolo chefs washed there hands when it came down to separating the meats and the vegatarian pizzas . Even though, there are VE options on the menu, I think i saw the chefs use their hands to touch the meat and then touch other food ingredients at the same time I think the counter tables are kinda weird as well , it just feels too close to the kitchen and it’s very tight ….

Unfortunately the food cross contamination was the biggest issue I had with this place. I asked before placing my order if the veg and non veg pizzas were made separately (as I dont eat meat) and was assured they were. Whilst eating my pizza I was horrified to notice that that was not the case. I was situated at the counter table where the pizza was being made. And could see that the lady putting the toppings on the pizza would take meats and place them on the pizza and then pick up cheese with the same hand as well as other vegetarian options. There was no washing of hands, using seperate gloves or even any seperate creation between the non veg. If that wasnt bad enough the guy who was stretching out the pizzas and cooking them was also grabbing the meats to help with making the pizzas and would stretch the pizza (vegetarian) I was horrified to notice this and stopped eating the pizza. When I alerted my waitress of this she tried to assure me that they do wash hands between touching meat and non meat. Which was clearly not the case! Such a shame that this place does not offer proper vegetarian options. For many that eat meat this might not be an issue however I think a resturant like yourself should have more respect for the customer and what they can and can't eat. It bring into question whether they take allergies as serious.
