I had an awful experience at Taj Mahal Indian Tandoori. I found a hair in my dish, so I politely asked if they could replace it. Instead of handling it professionally, the staff got angry and started shouting at me. This is absolutely unacceptable! Not only was I treated with complete disrespect, but I also felt like I was being scammed. The customer service was horrendous, and I will never be returning to this place. Do yourself a favor and avoid this restaurant at all costs!

Absolutely horrible experience at the restaurant. The manager/owner of the restaurant was extremely rude and abusive towards me when I asked for the dish to be changed as it tasted horrible and not what I was expecting. This restaurant is a complete scam. They serve pre-cooked, old food that is absolutely disgusting. The quality is terrible, and it’s clear they don’t care about freshness or standards. While I was there, I even saw a customer return their food because of how bad it was. Instead of handling the complaint professionally, the manager started shouting at the customer, making the situation very uncomfortable for everyone. On top of that, they try to scam you by topping up drinks without asking and adding extra charges to the bill. This place is dishonest, unprofessional, and serves awful food. Avoid it at all costs!

I would strongly advise against visiting Taj Mahal Indian Restaurant in Paddington. The food was old and stale, and the quality was far from fresh. When I raised a complaint about the state of the food, the manager (or possibly the owner) was incredibly rude and disrespectful. Instead of addressing my concerns, he started bullying me, being abrasive, and showing no customer service skills whatsoever. The bill was also an issue— they charge for whatever they fancy, and the waiter topped up our drinks without even asking, running up the bill unnecessarily. It’s clear this place is a total scam. I truly regret not checking the Google reviews before going, as many of the zero- or one-star ratings are spot on. Be cautious of the overly positive reviews, as I suspect they may be from friends, family, or even fake accounts designed to cover up the truth. Avoid this place at all costs! I ordered paneer tikka masala large for 9 pounds but this doesn't seem to be worth it, quantity was too low and can't feed 2 people. The taste was really bad, I hadn't eaten anything like this before. It was too much sugary and couldn't even eat it.

I can confirm all the bad reviews and was annoyed that I didn't read them first. You get ripped off here and you're not even really full. Converted, I paid 37 euros for a beer, rice, a dish with lamb and a garlic naan, which didn't even taste like garlic. Rice is not included!

The manager or maybe the owner is a scammer! He charged us £4.95 for a single piece of Nan bread. Another £4.95 for a sort of small portion of what could have looked like Cantonese rice. And he changed the order so that the main dish costed almost £20 instead of £14. A true scam. An insult to decency. I hope no one else would ever step afoot in this place.

I must admit the food was good, but the mark-up on an illegible hand-written scrap of paper was extortionate. The Chap pushes drinks on you when you clearly says you don't want any more and when you queey the bill he rushes through the items at breakneck speed so you have no chance to assimilate what the prices were. The old bold waiter made up most of the prices on paper and didn't make any receipts. On the menu "Plain Rice" is £3.95, he said ours was "Large" without us asking and he charged £9.90... takeaway box £1... Bottled 0.5 WATER = £4 TO £6. >>>>>>>£112.50 for 3 people. It's better to move on and not stop. The food was pretty tasty, but the whole experience is suddenly ruined when the “bill” arrives. Menu and reality are different worlds. Everything costs extra - rice, bread...! In addition, 1 pint is more like 0.25 ml, but in terms of price it is the “correct” one. Pint quantity - at least on the "bill". Sometimes the landlord was extremely pushy, but still somewhat acceptable. It's better to go somewhere else unless it doesn't matter what you pay. The 10 pound tip, which was also on the “bill”, was also a disgrace! It's a shame, such an experience on the first evening... once and not again!!!!!

Don’t go there, everything pretty much ala carte, nothing was explained the older guy was very pushy, getting us to order. We 3 girls were the first ones on the empty restaurant a couple and 2 individual men all got served before us, we had to ask several times for our food. He was eating behind the counter while servicing his customers and talking on his cell phone most of the time, our bill was shocking for a nasty joke in the wall. Very disappointing.

Pathetic food. Tandoori Roti shaped like Poori, haven’t eaten such tasteless rotis before. Quantity of portions very very less. Price on rate card and actual billing is 30% higher. Handwritten Invoice, no digital invoice available when asked for. A vegetarian dinner of 2 people costed us 65 Pounds that’s insane in London where 2 can easily eat in 35 pounds.

Best Indian cuisine in central London. Mr. Ibad is very humble and polite which gives the food an extra flavour to enjoy. A must visit and a must try place!

Absolutely awful service and a very grubby place! Ordered lobster curry and received king prawns sliced in half. I said I had ordered lobster and the waiter told me they were little lobsters and walked off! They were prawn!! I didn’t have a cloth napkin so took one from an empty table. The waiter told me to put it back as it had been on the table (in a decorative way) for months and hadn’t been washed. I was given paper napkins akin to MacDonalds napkins. Apart from the “lobster” curry we had 1 rice, 1 chickpea curry, 2 roti’s, 1 naan, 4 very burnt and greasy papadoms and 2 glasses of wine. It was all very unpalatable so I asked for the bill and was given a scrap of paper from a notebook with £73.05 written on it! I was so cross and wanted to leave I stupidly paid!! Do not let the online photos fool you!!

6th July, it was late had a take out of tikka masala & rice for one. Food was cold & congealed. My biggest mistake was he took my card for payment and could not give me a receipt (machine he said was not working) on checking my app when we got back to the hotel I was charged £67.47 for this rubbish. I have no redress with my CC because I have no receipt .SO PLEASE BE AWARE NOT TO LET THE OWNER WALK AWAY WITH ANY CARDS. YOU WILL BE GROSSLY OVERCHARGED. Definitely cannot be trusted.

The restaurant was very bad. The food had no taste, and it had clearly been prepared a long time ago and just reheated. The area where they prepare food downstairs in the lobby is very disgusting, unusable, and polluted. When it came time to discuss payment, the staff member raised his voice, and his attitude changed completely from how he acted initially. The prices are very exaggerated, and it is not worth visiting at all. It is a waste to pay any amount of money for it. This is the worst restaurant I have ever been to in England.

SCAM/FOOD POISONING The food tasted like it had been reheated out of the fridge. My boyfriend found two bones in his food. The owner didn’t provide us a receipt. Our bill seemed way too high upon reflection so we went back to inquire. The owner added our meal up on a hand made receipt. He had upsold on everything (for instance onion bhaji listed on the menu as 3 pound 95, he charged us for 4 of them.) Also charged for 4 popodoms AND the sauce separately.. we had assumed that the sauce came included in the price of popodoms as we never requested any sauce to begin with. Other shady upsells sky rocketed our bill. My boyfriend came down with awful food poisoning. He had eaten a butter chicken, while I am vegetarian. I went back to advise the owner of this so that he can look into the issue and nobody else will get ill. He brushed me off and said “never with my food.” Save yourself, don’t go.

The food quality was below average. The lamb curry was sweet, mixed grill platter just had 3 pieces in total, naan was like tandoori roti with no butter while we were charged for the butter. Quantity was very small.

A scam! They will offer you "some rice", which goes with the the dish according to menu, but won't tell you they will charge extra for it. And so on with all the items. The charge will be the double from what's ok the menu. The one star reviews are all correct. No wonder the restaurant is empty. I didn't look up the reviews before going in. Don't make this mistake!

At the door you are immediately spoken to when studying the menu. When asked whether rice was included (as in Germany), it was confirmed that it was - without pointing out that this is only really the case for very few dishes. The main thing is to lure the guest in so that he can then really be taken advantage of. What looks like kindness turns out to be method. That's why the front door is constantly open, which can quickly become uncomfortably cool when eating in the evenings. Given the small portions, at least the food can't get really cold - the plates are empty quickly. We ordered - two adults, three children. Two small children wanted to share a dish - there are no children's portions. That was at least accepted. The portions are very clear. Very little meat (3 small pieces of chicken) - lots of sauce. For vegetarian vegetables, only onions and white cabbage - the cheapest and even in manageable quantities. Two peas tried to give it some color. A drink glass (Fanta for one of the children) was dirty. The Cola lettering, which was also embossed on the inside, was brown in some places. According to the waiter, this was supposed to be “color.” The only strange thing was that other similar glasses had no “color” and some of the dirt could be wiped off with a napkin. The idea of ​​replacing the glass is beyond the staff's control and would not be offered. Just disgusting. The food is prepared in the basement. This is the case in most small restaurants in the area. But here I feel insecure about how things are going down there. On the bill there were three pieces of rice at around 4 pounds each (a leveled flat metal plate full - a ridiculous portion of a few grams) and three pieces of naan for the same price. We ordered once. Somehow a casual query “three” came up. Only half emphasized as a question. We thought a portion was three pieces of Nach (a basket full) - but the cellar's advice was not an explanation of the portion but rather a tripling of the order. People here are skilled at forcing more than they originally ordered into the haste. That was probably a mistake. Here you are starving at high prices. Every now and then we try to get more rice and bread by casually asking. Caution. Things quickly become very expensive here and promises made (rice included) are not kept. The lady who paid in front of us was also very surprised when she presented the bill before she paid with her cell phone in exasperation. At the end there were 84 pounds on the EC device and a piece of paper with a handwritten addition was next to it. A lot of money for an underground performance. Worst Indian we've had in Europe so far. And we like to eat Indian food. Quality is mediocre at best, cleanliness is poor and the price is tricky and high. Hands off. There are plenty of other places here. The little Egyptian "Cleopatra" towards Paddington Station was surprisingly good and highly recommended, very good value for money. Or if it has to be Indian "The Mughal" - expensive but good quality. Both restaurants - and this is important - friendly and honest.

Amazing food and very friendly staff. We had a dinner with my family. They helped us to choose our meal and it was outstanding. Chicken Shatkora was my favorite one. I will come back again

What a horrific experience. Honestly this restaurant should be reported to the police. Firstly, this is not a genuine Indian restaurant. It is a Bangladeshi restaurant masquerading as Indian. (Quick tip: Whenever you see "Motor" Ponir or "Motor" Paneer on the Menu at any Indian restaurant, turn around and run away without looking back). I bought 4 dishes, and not one of them was edible. I had to throw all of it away when I reached home. I can't believe I fell for these criminals. The food is third class, looks and tastes like made from some sewage water. The breads are half-cooked. Their main strategy is to prey on either drunk people passing by who are looking for late dinner and can't make proper decisions. OR, they prey on Non-Indian people who probably do not know what Indian food tastes like. In either case, they work like a Venus-fly-trap, sweet-talking passers-by to come inside and try their food at reasonable prices. The main waiter identifies who is the person going to pay for the group, and then sweet-talks him by saying things like "young-guy", "handsome-man" etc and suggests them exorbitantly priced garbage main-courses to create a big fat bill in the end of the meal which the person then feels shy to challenge or ask for the calculation. During the 20 minutes I spent at the restaurant waiting for my order, on the night of 12th April, and saw how masterfully the manager sweet-talked people from the street to come inside the restaurant to try food, cherry-picking gullible drunk people, and how at the time of deciding what to order he suggested them to order the most expensive and large meals to eat. To top it all, the food prepared is simply garbage. All the bills given are hand-written and fake. Which means they are not paying any of the taxes they are collecting from you. Ask for computerised invoice for the food

Frankly I only came here because ive never seen such a low score for a restaurant before. How could any establishment operate if it consistently garnered such low scores. So my expectations were low. The food however was consistent with the pricing and the manager could take the odd joke. The beer was cold and the madras was spicy. What’s not to like? If you’re after a nice quick curry and friendly service and you’re not expecting anything beyond the ordinary you will be satisfied.

The owner acts all friendly when you come in but he is an absolute scumbag in disguise. Two Nestle bottles of water for 8 pounds! I ask what that was all about and he points to the smallest corner of the menu that denotes the cost of water. Unbelievable. The food was mediocre at best and the portions were atrociously small. I should have read all the reviews first, now it all makes sense. Avoid this scumbag at all costs. This guy takes advantage of unassuming customers and scams them. Tldr: two bottles of water for 8 pounds. The owner tricks people into paying more and is a scumbag.

Never set foot in this restaurant. You can almost literally say that it was an armed robbery. The food is worth absolutely nothing, the waiter-owner is in charge of ordering for you, and finally, when he brings you the bill you don't faint because you are still sitting. We have not reported it due to lack of time since we take the plane in a few hours. A real joke.
