Best/cheapest Spoons on IOWmuch better than Newport Man in the moon. No kids running around uncontrolled by their parents & allowed to do so by Staff. Police ought to pay a visit & hopefully catch under aged brats ordering alcohol from the App.

My friend ordered some drinks for herself using the "2 for £13" cocktail pitcher deal however she was in the toilet when the drinks arrived. The server, supposedly also the manager, asked for my ID. This is a fair question, and I admitted to not having it but explained that my friend who had ordered the drinks would be back with hers in a minute. He simply said "No that's not good enough" and walked away with her drinks, not coming back despite serving others on the floor and spotting that she was back. Ordinarily I wouldn't complain about something so trivial however after we flagged him down and started asking about it the manager didn't listen, not even saying anything when we mentioned that we could walk five minutes to retrieve my ID from the hotel. After this we simply asked for a refund if those drinks were not going to be given to her and he refused to give money back while giving no good reason for doing so, also repeatedly attempting to walk off in the middle of our conversation. He was incredibly condescending throughout, calling us ''love' and saying "Well you're not getting it lovey" before walking off when my friend claimed she wasn't leaving until she got a refund which is a poor attitude to take with a customer giving a complaint. When my friend went to the bar to ask for her refund she was goaded into making a scene (which she did not do, though did display simple exasperation at the situation as a whole after which he shouted and pointed at her as though he had won a fight) and then was called horrible before being barred. All of this because we simply wanted money back for drinks that were not being provided. It also should be noted that I am in fact 22 years old and had already had a drink in this establishment with no issue so even if all of this is somehow not enough, he was allowing potential under 18s to be served in the workplace he is responsible for. I have never encountered this kind of anti-social attitude from a bar worker before and as a local who was showing my friend around town I am incredibly disappointed by what's happened. Thanks to his attitude they have lost the business and respect of a regular customer.

Went in with a friend for some drinks. Ordered two cocktail pitchers for myself (as they had a two for £13.75 offer on) and my order was refused due to my friend not having ID. I produced mine and was told that I still couldn’t not have them as I was lying about them being for myself because I had ordered two glasses. I said I ordered two because just didn’t fancy mixing woo woo with strawberry pornstar martini (which I felt was fair) but apparently this was not good enough. I was also directly told that I was ordering for an under 18 year old (my friend is 22) I didn’t particularly like being called a liar so despite the fact it would’ve taken less than five minutes to pop to the hotel and grab my friend’s ID, I didn’t particularly want to drink there anymore due to the manager’s attitude. I asked for a refund instead and was declined because ‘it states you need ID before you order’ I explained that not only was the order for me and I had presented my relevant identification, but that was not the reason anymore, and that his attitude was the problem. When I asked again for a refund he said ‘you’re not getting one lovey’ and walked away. After that he only made dismissive comments as he passed our table and refused to come and engage with us again. I went to the bar and again asked for a refund, and was denied. I explained it was because he was condescending, repeatedly called me ‘love’ and ‘lovey’, which I wouldn’t mind in normal circumstances but when referring to a young woman with a complaint I felt was entirely unprofessional. He eventually refunded me, but also called me horrible and rude. All I had done was ask for a refund, albeit fairy bluntly, but he said I was no longer welcome in the pub with an incredibly condescending and smarmy smile (Probably the power trip of being able to kick someone out feeding his ego). I explained that not only am I not local, but I also wouldn’t want to return. My friend and I were later served with a smile at the local corner shop and are currently enjoying a drink in the hotel. We’ve learnt our lesson and will be supporting local pubs next time.

We all know that spoons are spoons… but… we had a good experience here. Sat upstairs, (moved tables due to one being pretty sticky and a bit grim) but next table good. Ordered food for 5 adults and 1 kid on the app… 3 of my kids need adult portions and it came to £42… can’t beat that for price! The drinks came within about 3 minutes and the food came within 10. All the food was nice, hot and the waiter was very friendly. Toilets were clean. It did everything we needed it to before we jumped on the ferry.

We thought we would pop into this Weatherspoons for a quick bite to eat. But that was a mistake. The first issue was no option but to sit at a dirty table, it wasn’t wiped the entire time we were there. Second issue was finding lipstick on my fresh glass of Pepsi, I wasn’t wearing any lipstick 🤢. This made me feel truly sick. I had to wait quite some time to get attention from the bar staff to get a fresh drink due to queues at the bar and lack of staff. I did get an apology once seen. Third issue was the time it took for our food to come out. Considering we ordered on the app it felt particularly slow. Forth issue was being virtually thrown our food once it came out, so much so it nearly fell off the plate. The staff member couldn’t have been less friendly or cared less. We couldn’t wait to leave this place and walk home (we are locals). We didn’t have high expectations but it fell way below what I consider acceptable.

Dropped in for the afternoon special and was disappointed with some of the "cooking". We had fish, chips and mushy peas and ham, egg and chips, both came with a drink as part of the offer. It appeared to be very good value, £9 each, but the execution left a lot to be desired. The chips were mushy and the mushy peas were tasteless. The fish was overcooked for my preference, but the batter was very good. The biggest gripe of all, why do these places think real ale should be served chilled to within an inch of its life, nasty. all in all, nothing really wrong that could not be put right, just check your food occasionally to ensure it is being cooked correctly.

One of the best for service and food - despite some reviews being poor, our experience was great. On arrival it was packed out but found a table upstairs, customers were quite loud, but expected when so busy. Placed order, collected drinks - I timed food arrival from the time I got back to my table -7 minutes! Food was good, a beef madras curry one of the best we had at a JDW. During the time I was ordering - the table had been wiped down, I noticed a blonde young lady (dragonfly tattoo?) doing a very thorough clean up job at used tables, wiping menus and keeping condiments tidy and hygenic. We had to comment on this as it’s pretty unusual to see such attention to cleaning tables. All staff working in serving area doing a great job, wish they were as attentive at my regular Spoons!- staff a credit to this busy branch- Thanks Guys.

Awful experience with the security staff outside ... the taller leaner doorman on the front tonight (29/3/24) was very aggressive towards me and made me feel very uncomfortable for no apparent reason. I was waiting for my friend to come in and he shouted step aside repeatedly and then said Do you have a problem....? Do you have a f***ing problem? I was just stood waiting for my friend and I am a regular to the pub. I find it ironic that the security is there to make you feel safe but they did quite the opposite. On my way out I mentioned to the man in question that he made me feel very uncomfortable and his reply was you and your friend are barred! Don't come here again.... very disappointed with this situation tonight... I did report it to the manager but feel it won't go any further. I asked for the name of the security company but the manager said he doesn't know which is strange. I heard other customers complaining about the aggressive doorman tonight too, I hope something is done about this. Those doorman should not be in employment as they are not equipped to carry out their job role in a professional manner.... you will lose many customers this way. As the manager of a popular seaside restaurant in Ryde I hope these men never come by our way as they will be refused service on arrival. Very disturbing behaviour indeed!!!

I am a single male and felt very uncomfortable during a recent midweek evening visit. I sat in one of the booths upstairs. In the booth next to me were two “giggling girls” who for some reason kept leaning over the booths in my direction and laughing. I overheard them admitting to be underage and were planning on going onto another venue in town which was “free entry before 10pm”. The whole experience was very uncomfortable for me. There are lots of posters around the pub for “I am Angela” but what about men??

I visited this afternoon for a drink whilst exploring the town. I ordered a pint of guest ale and a flavoured gin and tonic. The bar person poured the gin into a measure right to the brim, as she should, it is an exact measure, the clue is in the name, a measure. I then saw her pour a little of the gin from the measure into a clean glass and pour the remainder into the glass that was served to me with ice. I asked why she had done that, she replied that she had overfilled the measure, I tried to explain about the measure, she didn’t agree. The lady manager was nearby, when I pointed out what had happened, the reply was “She is new, I didn’t see anything” The manager poured the small amount of gin in the second glass into the glass served to me. All this made me think, are staff told not to fill the measure to the top as is required BY LAW.

One of the better Wetherspoons offering the usual food and drinks choices. Our visit during their beer festival, provided a pretty good choice of real ales. Will visit again when next on the island. There is plenty of upstairs seating too.

Typical Spoons. Free WiFi. Unlimited hot drinks for 1.56. Decent beer choice but it was too early for a beer.

There was some sort of deal today with the curry and my wife and I had chicken tikka masala with all the trimmings, plus a pint of truly excellent Adnams broadside for under £15!!!!! When you compare that to the £6.40 I was charged for a mediocre pint of lager on a certain big red boat it's a massive bargain.

Although it’s in Ryde , Isle of Wight, it’s a standard Wetherspoons establishment, sticky tables, iffy washed glasses etc. But…..cheap beer and wine 😀

We had a super Sunday lunch here after strolling through the botanical gardens. the chef Michael Jackson (yes, really!) cooked a delicious roast beef for my husband & did a special sea bass for me. Very attentive service from friendly staff & really good wine by the glass in pleasant surroundings, with the sun streaming into the restaurant.

Popped by for a Hot Drink & Snack after walking the dog on the beach. Very friendly staff, very welcoming and nice hot drinks which were reasonably priced for the size of the mugs. We definitely recommend visiting.

Popped in for a quick lunch with a toddler and unfortunately the experience was very poor. Fish and chips were inedible - dripping in grease. Roasted veg panini, asked to be warmed and came back deconstructed and floppy. Every coffee cup was dirty and cutlery was grubby too. Thankfully they offered a refund but didn’t seem to want to listen to why we were unhappy - a big shame as sister store in Lake is always good.
