We've been going to this local saffron for years, never once have we been disappointed with the food, service and atmosphere. The staff are really kind and easy to get along with. There keema madras always keeps me coming back for more! It's not everyday that you see a twelve year old order a keema vindaloo, so they have been very surprised at my spice tolerance. Will definitely be coming back for decades to come. (Made by Luke, age 12)

Took longer than stated to collect - 1 hour instead of 30 mins. Achar was fantastic, but tikka masala was a little watery.

The food here has always been exceptional, Saffron has been our 'go to' for 8 years now. The new owners/staff are great too! We mostly take away, but when we eat in, it's always a good experience. Highly recommend.

I appreciate it’s a Friday night & busy. I’m so disappointed.previously rated as the best take away I’ve ever had. Delivered cold, chicken was tough- inedible. Rice over cooked. Paid £5 for delivery and it was cold. 😢 worst £33 I’ve ever spent.

Met with a friend for food on a Thursday fairly early doors, not too busy which is nice when your long overdue a catch up!. I had chicken liver starter, which was lovely. Main dish was Chicken balti, which was beautiful, a lovely consistency, plenty of succulent chicken, accompanied with a peshwari nan bread (probably one of the best I’ve ever had, they don’t add raisins as some do) The service was quick and the guy serving us was really polite and helpful with the questions asked by my friend. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Saffron, out of the 3 local Indians this one I believe offers the best food. I like that I can also take my own drink of choice.

Recently visited with my work for a leaving meal, there were 13 of us & the staff were great at serving us so quickly. The food was really nice, I had chicken korma & pilau rice. Everyone else in the group really enjoyed their meals too. I highly recommend, I’d visit again!

Food was nice as usual, but had to take a star off as the onion bhajis were missing which was disappointing - especially as they were free! (And on the receipt)

Just had a takeaway and impressed last used this place a couple of years ago and the food was bland. They have definitely upped their game. Great starter main with free masala chips two popadoms and two chappi. Chicken dansak 8.95 onion baji 3.95 chappi 1.00 each and popadoms 90 pence each.

As always - excellent food! Great flavours to the main dishes and Saffron are happy to use minimal oil if asked! Excellent side dishes too. Our orders are never late and the food is always hot.

Ordered from Saffron's new ecommerce website yesterday. Very simple and easy to use. Delivery time was an hour but food arrived after only 40 mins. Delivery driver was friendly and covid safe. Food was piping hot and very yummy as usual. Great service. Visited many times since. So glad this is our local takeaway. So nice food, big variety and the guys are so friendly and customer service driven. You can also eat in at their clean and spacious dining area which caters for big and small groups, even table for two. Where else would we go for our 17th wedding anniversary!

We were staying at the Oddfellow's Arms, an historic pub just next door, so it was very convenient. Service was attentive yet unobtrusive, the place was fairly packed which is always a good sign, and the food was well above average for the prices charged.

Current back from here 8 hours now and it’s 3.08am sat on the toilet with severe diarrhoea both husband and self one using downstairs toilet and one upstairs sorry for the glorified details but just so you get the idea. The staff were not the most helpful at all. Another table near us were also complaining regarding their food and manage to get theirs changed. One of the worst meal experiences we have had even the walls where we were sat looked like they had more food on them than what people had ate. Will not be ordering or returning again from here. If I could give any more advice is please don’t make the mistake we did.

Went we with friends as they live in the area. I wished we lived nearer, a great place....take your own drinks. We had 3 courses all delicious, nothing was too much trouble. Staff were busy but helpful and checked in with us often. The place was full by the time we left. A very enjoyable meal !!

In my opinion, it needs a bit of a revamp. The downstairs where we sat just looks a bit bland. Plenty of people in which gave it a good atmosphere but struggled to hear people at my table. Food was as you'd expect

We ordered at 21:45, last minute decision & weren't expecting it to be accepted so close to closing but it was! Food was hot and delicious as always, the delivery was SO fast & driver was very friendly. Always recommend The Saffron to people!!

Ordered the tandoori butter chicken, have ordered before and it has been excellent but this time it was almost entirely oil and VERY salty. Rest of the food was great as usual

Got a takeaway. Straight away poperdoms were like gone off crisp. Was the worst meal we have had in a long time.. fair play to the guy came out with more poperdoms, and offered a free starter. But the whole lot seemed like it was this afternoons food. And if your gonna have you over with a poperdom, don't trust the rest. Definitely won't be going again regardless of all the good reviews I've read baffled as to why..

food came cold which is weird as they're always spot on and only 1.5miles away. used my stamps on this meal too and was let down massively. cold rice, cold korma, cold naan.

Being brought up in Batley…. I know a good curry and I enjoy mine hot. Since living in Church Fenton I have struggled to find an Indian that can cater for someone who enjoys a hot but tasty curry….they always arrived either sweet or too spicy and tasteless. That’s until I found the Saffron in Sherburn. The food is absolutely unbelievable. Arrives, hot, tasty and they cater to what we need. I always ask for a dish ‘naga strength hot’ and each time, whatever I ask for it’s amazing. If I could afford it & my waistline would allow it I would have a Saffron every night! Truly excellent chefs. Please never leave the area! I recommend to everyone who enjoys tasty curries!

So confused with the bad reviews. We've not had a bad meal here since the new owners (linked to the very popular cumin lounge) took over. Extremely friendly . Fast service but you can also take your time if you prefer like we do. We visit at least twice a month and try everything on the menu. The dishes are very meaty , not oily at all . Take your own drinks. Try it for yourselves than listening to the negatives

Food was wrong to what I ordered and what came was inedible, will not be going here again.

I always enjoy the food here and order here quite often! Today when I ordered, they sent me a diet Coke rather than an original which is what I ordered, so I called back to let them know. They solved this issue very fast and brought me 2 cans of Coke to compensate for the mix up. I thought this was excellent customer service as other places where I've experienced similar mistakes won't bother coming back just for a drink. Thanks for your great service and amazing food!

I order regularly and the last two have not been to normal standard , they did replace the first time free of charge , however again big chunks of garlic in the main course never been like this previously , clearly not chopped well enough. Can’t taste the food just garlic , I will try again hopefully third time lucky .

With nowhere round here doing tikka kebabs on naan Saffron came through and saved the day! Even made a bespoke chilli sauce which was top notch and hit the spot I've missed since moving here.

The food was really good, fast service, authentically made. The waiter was very helpful and friendly. Unfortunately there was a problem with the air con when we got there so it was a bit cold but the problem was resolved and we were warm quite quickly. Would definitely eat here again.

Who does a pickle tray without poppadoms or at least ask you if you want poppadoms cause when I've ordered from other restaurants the poppadoms are included with the pickle tray

Actual collection time was 20 mins earlier than the app said. Not sure if this is a good or bad thing! Tasted excellent and the quality of the food is the best in the area. For that you do have to pay a little more and get a slightly smaller portion but worth in my opinion.

Food quality was good however the order delivered was incorrect. Was given a chicken dish rather than the ordered lamb dish and diet coke instead of normal coke. This has happened before on our previous orders.

Just got here on time which is fine, but unfortunately our food was very cold. So much so we had to microwave it. The food itself was lovely. But to have it as cold as it was was very disappointing.
