Saka Maka in Lewisham

Reliable super-tasty fresh Indian food. Good vegi options (though - please label more clearly). First went here when it was in Brockley (sister branch remains there); still good on expansion; have ordered many times from both.

I've heard from many of my foodie friends about Saka Maka, and had to give it a try…. My oh my, is it matching its reputation. The flavors in everything we ordered were just extraordinary. My favorites were probably the Dal Makhani,Punjabi Kadhi,Biryani and the absolutely delicious freshly baked naan with dips. My families one stop favourite restaurant and takeaway joint. What a joy this small unassuming venue is. Fantastic staff. The food where to start. Everything single dish we had and with 6 of us we tried a lot were fresh tasty and a riot of flavours. There were simply no disappointments from any of them. Then the bill came having feasted to a belt busting level on such delights we were amazed with drinks £20 a head. In this day and age in London to have such good service and delicious and some different dishes is TrueType amazing. Thank you, We will be back.

We ordered food online for delivery. They said 45 minutes, but it came much more quickly. All absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced. A little different from the usual Bangladeshi style of Indian food.

What a find! I’d already read good reviews of Saka Maka - North Indian cuisine - in Hither Green - and these reviewers are not exaggerating! This unpretentious looking restaurant serves the most delicious Curries. You are greeted with an appetiser of cut up vegetarian samosa - light filo pastry stuffed with potato and other vegetables covered in sweet yoghurt with puffed rice and sweetcorn. The poppadoms are the fluffiest I’ve ever had - made of rice flour served with a piquant sauce. The butter chicken is superb and there was generous meat, I loved the garlic butter naan - very fluffy and really slathered in the garlic butter. The house red wine is very pleasant and the waiter is completely charming. It is not surprising that they’re also doing a roaring takeaway trade. Quality only 12 minutes’ walk from where I often stay!

OK so it's pretty basic and largely a take away/delivery place. But do yourself a favour, go and sit down for some excellent Bombay street food. Biryani's, Dal, naans, potato balls all beautiful and good sized portions (had to take some home). It's either BYOB or has some wine and beers you can buy onsite. Excellent service. For two (BYOB) and service £20 a head so great value A real find.

Lovely food in Hither Green. Staff are great too. Ate the following the last time: 1. Daal Bukhara 2. Mattar Paneer 3. Pav Bhaji 4. Vada Pa 5. Chicken Bukni Kebab 6. Plain naan 7. Kheer with berry compote The restaurant threw in some chilli paneer. All of it delicious but a special shout out to the vada pa and the pav Bhaji. Just amazingly delicious.

The experience I had with Saka Make was so bad I had to write a TripAdvisor review about it as the ratings are wholly misleading to consumers. I eat Indian takeaway in SE London a couple times a month. The Deliveroo ratings were excellent and the menu of Saka Maka looked distinctive from other local offerings so I decided to deviate from my regular takeaway to try it out. What a mistake. Ordered the lamb curry, the chicken biriyani, the saag and the samosa chat. My partner and I are both of South Asian descent and have adjusted to local spice levels but the food here just beggared belief. There was almost no flavour to the food, it felt like it was prepared by someone who had never had Indian food before and had access to only a fraction of essential spices. We absolutely hate wasting food but we ended up binning most of the food we received.

Prawns, chicken dishes superb.......order arrived promptly.....still piping hot. Excellent , tantalising dishes...oriental aromas...taste to match. Superb!! Highly recommended
