Excellent Sunday lunch, roast beef cooked as liked and requested, really good selection of vegetables although would have liked roasted parsnips!!!!! Roast potatoes crispy and fluffy , carrots sweet and Yorkshire pudding gorgeous. Good selection of Desserts and drink. Staff very friendly with excellent customer service; my only slight criticism is that there was a wait from when the plates were served and when the vegetables were brought to the table however we all really enjoyed our meals and will go back. Thoroughly recommend Salt.

We had a very nice lunch in a great position looking out over the marina. The food was good and our server Bonnie was lovely. Free parking is included.

Great restaurant with delicious food. Attended for Sunday lunch and was not disappointed. Plentiful, flavoursome, and delicious. Staff equally good. Cannot fault.. I'm definitely returning to Salt again soon.

Probably the best Sunday lunch available in Weymouth and Portland. Quality of food and service very high and price of around £20/21 per main course, for the quality of food, is good value.

As always the service was excellent, a lovely lady took us to our seats, was professional but knew she could have a joke or two with us. Food was out in good time and was delicious. Always a good array of wine and beers to chose from. Its the second time we have been here now and it will become a regular place for us to go. If you have the chance to go, do it, you wont be let down.

Wonderful food and great service. Lauren, our server, was super personable and very knowledgeable about the menu and the local produce used for the dishes.

Fabulous location, lots of outdoor seating with views over the marina and harbour to Weymouth. The food was excellent with nice tapas style dishes and a ‘catch of the day’ which was cooked and presented with real flair! Well priced for what you got as portions were generous. The staff were friendly and efficient and all supported by a good bar. Highly recommended.

Lacks atmosphere and staff confused about ordering process. Food was satisfactory but I won’t be rushing back to go there.

The marina took over a poorly performing overpriced restaurant. This was then closed for six months for an extensive refurbishment, costing a king’s ransom. On reopening the menu offering is rarely available, the food is of poor quality and the prices unrealistic. In a short period of time Salt has managed to destroy its customer base, annoy the birth holders and alienate the local population. This is a remarkable achievement in such a short time!

Thought we would go to have a few drinks and listen to the live music. When we arrived there was no greeting no staff to be seen, eventually I assume was a member of staff ( wasn't any uniform) appeared smelling of smoke and proceeded to be on her phone without even noticing we were in the building. Head down leaning on the bar facing away from the customers. There was tables of uncollected glasses and plates of food. Eventually we were served but unable to open a tab due to the 'policy' was happy to leave my card behind the bar for this but that wasn't acceptable. The blonde bar lady then proceeded to continue her conversation with another lady, again no uniform, and be on her phone. ***avoid this place*** the staff clearly don't care about where they work but care more about getting paid for having a social

The Salt was a lovely venue clean and tidy and the staff were helpful and engaging, however they had run out of some of the beers and my meal hot dog and chips was without doubt the worst hot dog I have ever eaten. It arrived presented poorly! The sausage was cremated and the bun, clearly freshly defrosted and then popped into a George Forman type machine to help it recover from its frozen slumber! The fried onions weren’t a hot bed of caramelised onion which one would expect, but a dried crumb which had been poured over the cremated sausage - which I had forgotten to add, arrived curled up into a horse shoe shape and sat in the cut of the bun trying to look ‘new’ and ‘modern’, but alas looked like a charcoaled ring in a presentation box. The only reason I didn’t return it, which is what I would have normally done, was that I was being treated by my family and I didn’t want to spoil our occasion. I did mention it to the bar staff upon leaving and he was most apologetic, bless him - and he was a nice chap, but by that time the damage had been done and my digestive system bore the scars for many hours after! Will I return no be returning!

Food was great on a cold Friday night. Service was good (thanks Jacob) and the beef brisket with a ginger sauce was great. The cheese board was huge.

We came here after a day visiting Weymouth. My partner had found this place a few months ago but had only stopped for a drink, so we decided we would drive over and try out the food. I shared a roast platter with my father in law! The menu stated this was for 2... there was so much food. I think we could have shared it between all 4 of us! It was absolutely delicious. And just to add to our already lovely visit was a lovely waitress called Diane. What a wonderful lady, so happy to help and so fantastic at her job ! A real asset to the restaurant. We can't wait to come back soon.

Great location and nicely decorated. Can't understand why it is not super busy and thriving. We had coffee and halloumi fries. All was fine. I think you need to promote what you have here much more. It shoukd be busy.

Made a special trip to Portland to visit this new establishment as love the location last Sunday. First impression was the refurb looked great. Arrived to a sign outside saying evening dining for booked tables only and apologies that no daytime food would be served. Thought it would be already open for coffee but no times outside. As it was Sunday thought we’d go back at 12 which we did but still locked up with no signs of life or anything to say when it would be open, not a good start. What is happening with this supposed new venture, not a good start ? Can’t comment further as could not even visit !!! Disappointed is an understatement 🤬

Not many people were there last night but the restaurant still had a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Good variety of options on the menu and the food we had was delicious - burgers and the brisket beef. (The mixed salad was also excellent!). Our wine - a Pinot Grigio - was a success and well priced too. The only down side was that there was no ice but the tonic from the fridge easily compensated for that. Will definitely be back.

The initial reaction was great. The venue looked amazing, great seating area inside and out. Lovely views across the marina. It was not busy and we put in a food order at 12.30. I think we must have been the first to order as they don't accept orders until 12.30. There were about three tables occupied at that point. We waited for an hour- no food arrived so at 1.40 a wait of one hour and 10mins I went to enquire. The manageress was very apologetic and said she would see to it straight away. It appears the kitchen had not received our order so there would be a further wait whilst they prepared it. By then I had run out of patience so we had a refund and left. If they can't cope with so few tables occupied I wonder what will happen on a busy day? The staff appear to have no training. I would have thought someone might have picked up on the fact we had been waiting for some considerable time especially as it was so quiet. Had it been busy I could perhaps have understood. It is a shame that such an amazing venue haven't got their act together. Had the service been good it is a place that we would visit frequently but due to their really poor performance I don't feel inclined to try it again

Six adults for my daughters birthday meal, was expecting it to be a nice evening out! Terrible! Had to stand in one queue to order food and then another queue to order drinks! Half the menu was unavailable , food was quick to come but it was average, nothing special like we were expecting from menu description and price ! It is very overrated and really not worth the money ! The weekend before we all went to the swan, weatherspoons in Weymouth , less than half the price and was actually much nicer! I seriously, seriously wouldn’t waste your money here !

We had heard mixed reviews about this place but have to say that when we visited one evening, the food we had was lovely. We both had the ‘Salt’ burger with chips and they were delicious. Our friends had a pizza and a chicken burger and they both enjoyed theirs. The service was good too.

Nicely decked out both inside and out. Good food although service a little awkward due to food and drink ordering at separate points at the bar. Could do with some sound suppresses internally.

Walked in last min off street and looked at reviews once ordered. Was nervous about what was to come given a few poor reviews. Service was top notch and the food was lovely. No complaints. Maybe restaurant having teething problems, when busy, as sounds newly opened. Give it a chance. Dog friendly. Nice setting.

Well what a joke, let’s start at the beginning, my girlfriend and I arrived on a lovely sunny evening at 7pm on a Monday, we’d pre booked, entering the restaurant it seemed about half full inside and empty outside so not really that busy, assuming it would be table service we looked around for a member of staff to seat us but quickly realised that it wasn’t going to be that sort of place, people seemed to be queuing at the bar so we joined the end of the queue and waited and waited, not sure what the hold up was but it was a good 15 minutes to reach an employee, I stated we booked a table and was pointed to a table of 2 inside, we asked if we could sit outside as it was a nice evening and was told that was fine, having been given our menus we selected our drinks and food and I proceeded to rejoin another queue to order, 10 minutes passed and I finally got to the lady on the till only to be informed that the wine we selected wasn’t available so had to return to my girlfriend to ask what she’d like instead, I rejoined the queue again and ordered the drinks and asked if I could order our food, 1 vegan katsu dish and the tarragon chicken, chicken unavailable, hotdogs unavailable, pizza’s unavailable, I felt pressured to choose anything as people were queued up behind so opted for braised brisket of beef with rice, not what I wanted but there wasn’t much left on the menu I did fancy. A full 50 minutes later our food was brought to the table on what can only be described as a starter size plate and my word was it lacklustre, my girlfriends katsu consisted of a deep fried aubergine that was so overcooked that when she cut into it it shattered like a car windshield into a million pieces and my brisket was like cat food topped with raw carrots for decoration on a bed of bland rice and none of the advertised sauce, I would of complained if I could of seen a waiter or waitress but we had no service at all, no offer of more drinks, no check on our food, nothing. I couldn’t face another 10 minute queue at the bar so we just ate it, as this place has a similar system to Wetherspoons you pay upfront when you order but had it not I would not of paid. We sat with half finished plates and waited for someone to clear the table and maybe offer dessert but that never happened, so we just left our dirty table and decided to go somewhere else for dessert. On leaving we didn’t encounter any staff so i couldn’t vent my disappointment about our experience but I will say it was probably the worst dining experience of my life from start to finish, what should be a fantastic place to eat given the location was nothing more than a terrible Wetherspoons with a confusing menu that doesn’t suit the restaurant and was mostly unavailable anyway and non existent service, avoid like the plague, will be shut very soon. Oh and you pay for parking.

How disappointing! really not up to standard, the hygiene is poor. CLEANING TABLES WITH POLISH! well that's a first, that does not clean the tables it just polishes. The cook was constantly picking food and dipping it to what looked like a mayonnaise tub, eating grated cheese and the list goes on, also texting on her phone, no apron or washing off hands. I think an open kitchen is sometimes not a good idea, as the floor was filthy, and the tops were messy. Even the toilet was cleaner then the kitchen. The other 2 girls were friendly, but so was the cook. Word of advice put yourself on a hygiene course.

Avoid! We went in for ice cream - they had about 3 flavours out of the 15 or so advertised. They blamed delivery. When we ordered 5 they handed us 5 pathetic tiny scoops in tubs - didn’t even ask if that was ok. When we complained the manager aggressively told us “we are closing next week so running supplies down” as if we were somehow outrageous to expect cones/to be told there was no cones before we paid. It needs a good clean too inside.

An absolutely lovely coffee shop a hidden gem and some lovely cake! The egg custard I just had to have another slice and even gluten free cake. Tea was tasty and a really nice coffee. Staff are attentive and knowledgeable and a good laugh. Definitely coming back!

Decent, a well needed bacon sandwich and a coffee. Obviously popular with outdoor types so can get full of hikers and watersports visitors, directy opposite a D-day museum so there payable parking nearby. I'm a semi regular visitor when I'm in the area, and have tried most of their food, ranging from a bacon sandwich, where they cooked my bacon as I liked upon request, and the large full english kept me going right through till early evening. Why only 4 stars, fix the front door! Makes me jump everytime, if you know, you know
