My wife and I visited Sands for a Saturday evening meal. Although I didn't mention that it was our 44th wedding anniversary at the time of booking, somehow they knew. (One of life's mysteries!!!)On arrival, we were taken to a most beautifully decorated table in an intimate alcove of the restaurant. There were really "special" flowers placed on the table along with scattered petals and love hearts. We ordered our meal and just sat back and admired the scenery overlooking a beautiful golf course - what a setting.Our starters came out followed later by our main courses and desserts. All of which could only be described as superb and presented beautifully. After our meal, we were brought a bottle of Champagne (courtesy of the house) and 2 glasses with 2 white roses along side to continue our celebration. A real treat from start to finish and totally unexpected.A special mention must go to HANNAH - our waitress for the evening. She is credit to Sands. A really delightful girl who shines at front of house duties.And to Alex (the restaurant Manager) who was obviously behind all the surprises.Thank you to all the staff at Sands and to the Chef for making our evening so memorable.I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who has a celebration or just for an evening out in beautiful surroundings.

Bishopswood Cottage Bishopswood LaneThe best fish and chips I've had for a long time. The food is excellent and the staff very welcoming especially Sam and the lady with her. A lovely place to meet up with friends.

Alton RoadI had a great stay at Audleys Wood Hotel for my birthday with my family for lunch and my girlfriend overnight. The hospitality was great and I would recommend it to others, especially if they're local in Basingstoke.

BroadlayingsVisited a couple of weeks ago with our 14 year old daughter and not so little pup. Thought I had already reviewed but clearly, only did the review in my head so reviewing now as we had such a lovely time. Ended up here after first pub plans went out of the window because of the storm and them having no power. Really pleased to be honest as this was a great find. So relaxed, super friendly and very welcoming. Great atmosphere and great food. The menu isn't huge as some have said; but I would much prefer a "smaller" menu and quality fresh food, which is what we got here. None of us struggled to find anything we liked and they had a specials curry menu too. They were so accommodating. I can highly recommend the chicken pie, cheese and bacon burger and the fish and chips....which definitely was huge! All portions were a great size. My pie was one of the nicest I've have at a pub and it was nice for it to be served with fresh veg rather than just your standard peas. We stayed for a couple of hours, which past so quickly. Our pup loved meeting everyone and was even given treats by the lady behind the bar. Friends for life there! 🤣 We met some lovely people that are locals too. Shame I didn't make it back for the quiz night as we have been super busy, but we will definitely return and recommend to friends. Genuinely can not fault. Thank you so much to the fab staff and lovely people we met there.
