Let's not beat about the bush! This is an expensive restaurant! So despite multiple recommendations; the bar had been set very high! But Scott's delivered! And more! The food, the service, the atmosphere and the location were all perfect! I really can't find any fault! It is a fabulous fine dining experience that I can wholeheartedly recommend!

Ill Afterwards. A group of us visited and had a lovely time and left feeling very happy, all in all it was very pleasant until 3 of us became ill later in the day. We are from different households and we hadn't seen each other before visiting Scott's on that day. The 3 of us only had one thing in common which was eating the risotto. We reported the issue to the restaurant who passed it to a 3rd party compnay. They refuse to acknowledge the issue and pointed the finger at us. As i mentioned , one thing in common, the risotto. Very poor response from the restaurant. Won't be going back again and certain won't recommend visiting.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Scott’s Richmond, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The meal was nothing short of outstanding, with a selection of fresh, high-quality seafood that left a lasting impression. We began with oysters, which were perfectly chilled and full of flavor—an ideal start to the meal. For the main course, I had the lobster, scallops, king prawns, and spicy crab, all of which were cooked to perfection. Each dish was wonderfully prepared, with the seafood beautifully complemented by rich flavors and textures. The service was impeccable, with attentive staff making sure every need was met without being intrusive. To accompany the meal, I enjoyed a crisp house white wine, which paired wonderfully with the seafood, followed by an Aperol Spritz to finish off the meal on a refreshing note. All in all, it was an unforgettable dining experience—delicious food, excellent service, and a perfect ambiance. Highly recommended!

We were ready to leave. We booked our visit a few weeks in prior as we wanted to spend family New Year’s Eve there. Upon arrival we were sent to the top floor being said your table is being prepared for you. 30 minutes of waiting until we were offered the table on the top floor, which was already empty when we arrived. When my partner insisted on getting the table in the main room we have been told that it’s overbooked and they don’t have available tables. Anyway, after couple of minutes we got the table in the main dining room , where we ate delicious meals. And yet I will think twice going back there again.

While this restaurant is in a beautiful location and nicely appointed, the food leaves much to be desired. Not very tasty and bland. For such an expensive place trying to be exclusive, I had expected much more! The staff were friendly but too busy to be attentive.

Went to Scott’s with a friend of mine in Richmond before she left for LA, and I’m very disappointed by the food considering it was on the higher end of pricing. We ended up getting half a lobster, scallops, monkfish i believe, and I ended up getting the masala after still being hungry. The lobster had no flavour which was disappointing. The masala was quite sweet, which was odd, and my friend’s fish dish had an odd indescribable flavour. The scallops were good though. Overall, I’m very disappointed by the food at Scott’s, however, the service and the interiors of the restaurant was amazing.

As good as Mayfair Scott's, if not better. Had an amazing lunch with family, enjoying excellent service, a wonderful atmosphere, and of course, delicious food. One thing I particularly enjoyed about Richmond over Mayfair was the lovely river views. Planning to visit again at Easter.

Went to Scott’s for a the Sunday roast, it was very busy due to it being the Sunday before Christmas, I found the carrots and cabbage were hard and had a very fatty cut of meat, the prawn tempura had a very airy light batter. It was very underwhelming for the price (I’ve had better roasts in chain pubs) Although the decor and atmosphere was very grand and food service was quick,I would personally rather go here for the drinks and jazz evening.

Just arrived for Christmas eve lunch. Relegated to a very understated room upstairs. Be warned that if you want the full Scotts dining experience you need to request the room downstairs. However, despite notifying your team over 24 hours in advance, I am now being told I will be charged. This has been frustrating and unclear. We went here on November 19th for lunch to celebrate our Silver Wedding Anniversary. The service was excellent, and we were made to feel welcome, and were attended to perfectly. The food was divine. The Oysters were superb as was the champagne to accompany. At that point we joked with our waiter that we could sit there all afternoon just eating Oysters and having more champagne. However, we moved on, of course. A cocktail each took us onto our starters of Devilled Crab and scallops, again superb. Mains was a perfectly filleted Dover Sole for my wife and grilled cod for myself, with sides of potato and spinach. A bottle of Bolney Estate Pinot Gris was a great accompaniment. Desserts of Brownies with ice Cream and Paris Best with Pistachio Ice cream and a tawny port to finish made for a most enjoyable afternoon.

Excellent fish and chip shop, lots of variety, excellent atmosphere, excellent food. We paid £273 for lobster plus . Nice walk by the Thames afterwards. Parking around the corner in Friars Place for a tenner...if you can get in it. Richmond is a lovely place, with a wide variety of historic and modern architecture, and if you have had too much of the gorgeous food, there are plenty of hungry bird and fish who will appreciate the expensive scraps. Although the food was lovely, I can only describe the place as unnecessary over priced and have never been anywhere with such a mark up. The service and staff were good but £369 for 3 courses plus a bottle of cheap red wine and 4 glasses of champagne is extortionate. We enjoyed our experience but at that price I would expect the food and dining experience to be outstanding and it was mediocre at best. We would never consider going back as it was far too expensive and not worth the price. As an example; a bottle of Nytimber was £108 (+13.5% service charge, making it approximately £122) which is usually anywhere between £40-£75 per bottle anywhere else. Don’t waste your money, it’s nothing special.

Bridge and Tunnel, redefined. Scott's Richmond is, we're told, an off-shoot of the original (estimable) Scott's in Mayfair. Except it isn't really, although it technically has the same owner, the flamboyant "restauranter" Richard Caring. It's a theme park Scott's for the 'burbs, the bridge and tunnel brigade and it flaunts it - a dumbed down version, no sense of occasion. Soulless doesn't begin to describe it. The decor is so garish (cf. Mayfair) it makes its' owner look positively under-stated (quite the achievement ). Service is, varyingly, absent, supercilious and too "matey" (another achievement) treating the punters ( and you are very much a "punter") with disdain, as if the staff can't quite believe anyone would actually spend money here. The food? Don't go there. Tasteless crab and skate reminiscent of a Findus boil-in-the-bag job from the 1970s ( yet another achievement). Eat before you go and stick to the drinks, you'll need one.

Every part of the venue from the moment you walk in to the dining hall is stunning. The food was lovely particularly the platter and cheesecake dessert. The only downside was service which is really poor considering the high service charge. Save for the manager (who served more tables than the rest of the staff combined) the staff were really inattentive and it was an effort trying to get their attention. This was despite it being a quiet Thursday afternoon with very few tables.

The outdoor terrace of this fish restaurant on the Thames is an under-regarded delight, as is the food. The spinach we had one sunny lunchtime still had grit in it, but Nuno, a superb maitre'd, ensured we were not charged for the item. In my view, as a practised bon viveur, this branch of Scott's is superior to the Mayfair original. mw

4.5 My mother-in-law was visiting with her sister so we wanted somewhere special for lunch. Scott’s certainly fits the bill as it’s a beautiful room with wonderful views over the river. The service was excellent, efficient and friendly. Overall the food was pretty good, spiced baked crab and spiced salmon tartare were both well seasoned with a good balance of flavours. The prawns for the cocktail were good quality but as they come straight off the ice they are very cold and so are a bit lacking in flavour. The beurre noisette on the Dover sole was disappointing as it had not been cooked to the nutty stage and was therefore just a butter sauce, the sauce on the skate special was also a bit bland. Deserts went down well with the Paris-Brest and the honeycomb ice-cream being particular highlights. Yes it’s expensive but our visitors loved it and so it was money well spent and brightened a very wet day.

Beautiful restaurant that came highly recommended. Agree with the beauty of the place, but was sadly disappointed with the rest. It literally took us (a table of 3) one hour and twenty minutes to receive our food. Our server was the only one professional enough to apologize for the delay. Not one of the three “managers” we saw in the dining room addressed us nor did they offer us anything for our inconvenience. The two stars I’ve rated this restaurant is generous, and save for the server, a one star would be awarded.

Scott’s in Mayfair is one of my favourite restaurants in London, so when this location opened I’ve been meaning to visit for some time. My boyfriend and I came on a Monday as a celebration and were very much looking forward to the event, however our experience was lacking and very different to what we expect from the original location at Mayfair. The biggest disappointment came from the food - despite the restaurant only having an occupancy of no more than 25%, the dishes took a long time to arrive - the starter after 45 minutes - and when it, the dishes were dry and tasteless. My boyfriend had the crab which had minimal flavour and I had the scallops, which clearly had been sitting under lights for some time as they were extremely dry. I would also say the same for my fish main - you can see from my pictures that both dishes were dry from sitting out for too long. A really disappointing experience; maybe it was just a bad day? The only other comment I will add is that generally my boyfriend and I enjoy sitting at the bar. The staff in the Mayfair restaurant who serve behind the counter are generally efficient yet discreet and warm however the server behind the counter that day looked like she only cared about cleaning the dishes. No interest in the customers and pretty unfriendly. This review may sound a bit harsh but I saw one other table complaining about their food and the time it took to arrive so I don’t think we were the only ones experiencing a subpar seating. Sorry, Scott’s Richmond - you aren’t a patch on the original in MayfairZ

My first impression, unfortunately, was the ladies toilets which made me feel I was standing in a late night bar after a long night.. not great. In their defence, I reported it to reception and upon returning an hour later, everything was clean. It is a very grand room with views of the river. I can't fault the service, the wine gets kept away from your table but they do top you up regularly. I had the miso blackened salmon and my friend the langoustine linguine both of which were decent. I tried one of their special gin cocktails called The bees knees served in a pretty little glass . We enjoyed a bottle of chablis and refrained from dessert. Probably the best fish I have ever eaten so far! We ordered roasted fillet of cod and it was 11/10. Seared sea bass was also perfect. For the side orders we ordered chargrilled broccoli. It was tasty but I would try a different side. Octupus was quite good. For the starters we ordered tomato salad and it was 5/10. The tomatos were so big and the portion was very small. For the dessert, I would highly recommend Pavlova. It is creamy inside. Paris Brest was okay but Pavlova is better if you like fruity tastes. The view was amazing and romantic. If you love your seafood undoubtedly you have heard of Scott's. Despite being in Richmond, one feels the grandeur of the place and one could be mistaken for not being in Knightsbridge or Mayfair. The bar upstairs is excellent and the bar tender not only gave great recommendations but had a wonderful manner. Now the food; I have to put a caveat that I'm not a fan of fish, but my wife is. Nonetheless, the baked spiced crab was smooth, morish and divine, whilst the sautéed cod cheeks and snails were rich with great depth in flavour. Now to the mains. The fish and chips is a very large portion, but was too salty and the batter to overpowering for me. However, the crushed peas were buttery and glorious. Sadly the battered cod I at from my local fish and chips shop the night before was substantially more enjoyable to eat. My wife went for the Dover sole served on the bone. Though we'll cooked she felt that it had been frozen rather than was fresh. So wonderful venue, fabulous service but the food is good not great.

The 2 ladies at the entrance apologized as they have no availability.. we asked if we could register and wait even for an hour, the ladies replied that they are fully booked and offered us seat at the bar (!!). We left to check other nearby spot but my daughter decided to check their website and she was surprised to find few slots within the next 60min so she booked a 7:15pm table.. we spent the next 15min before our appointment enjoying the river side. We showed up on time and we said we have a booking at 7:15..the ladies were firm that they have no available table and tried to blame it on OpenTable although before confirming our booking on OT, it was on their own website! We insisted as we will not pay the no show charges. All of sudden, our table was available! If it wasn’t for my daughter who got reco to try them out; I’d have never dined there after such rude responses by the front door ladies. Over priced for what it is. Massive wine selection but just too pricy for what it is. Portion size was measly, getting told off for pouring your own water was ridiculous too. Won’t be returning and will not be recommending.

Absolutely beautiful restaurant, lovely staff. Menu didn't quite live up to my expectations but definitely would return for a special occasion.

Great location. Right by the river. Request for a table on the terrace when u make that reservation. Friendly staff. Lovely dining room. Posh decor. I had the fish masala curry for lunch. It was ok. Not the greatest of curry but it’s not bad either. We had wonderful dessert tho n starter. Will go back to try other food on the menu.

We went for Sunday dinner, hoping for a great experience considering it's location and being well know for its fish dishes! We were taken to our seat offered water, which was nice but then had to wait 20mins for our drink order to be taken! Please be aware we declined the water so service standard should have been to take our drinks order pretty quick. I was told that the Sancerre only came in a 125ml glass, I had to open up the wine menu to show otherwise. Throughout our time there we had to catch the eye of a waiter to get refreshments. Having said that the restaurant manager was a delight and very professional. I would generally not bother putting in a review however my daughter and I have suffered terribly with food poisoning since then and still trying to recover. Unfortunately Scott's is not recommended, service standard was sub par and the only memory now is the agony of food poisoning! DONT HAVE ANY FISH DISH HERE!

Food was great views were amazing but went very late afternoon and ordered Sunday lunch and beef I was told only comes one way medium rare no problem with that but it was more than that and the roast potatoes had definitely been hanging around a bit tough but the flavour was good would still happily go back but should have mentioned at the time for kitchen to know. My vegan friend was happy with his wishes as well

Always have an amazing meal at Scott’s in Richmond - from the downstairs, upstairs to the terrace in the summer. Cannot fault the food, decor is stunning & service is the best you’ll find in London. I recommend all seafood dishes and believe it or not the steak is one of the best you’ll ever get if you have a non fish eater amongst you.

This is my 4th visit to Scott’s in Richmond. Was there today for a casual business lunch. The staff are always terrific, welcoming, very friendly and provide outstanding personal attention. I had the tuna tartar with avacado very fresh and tasty and a nice portion. I then had the special - fish pie one of my favorite dishes. This one was particularly nice, a hint of a smoky flavour, plump prawns a hearty serving. My colleague has 6 fresh oysters and a 1/2 grilled lobster which he was very happy with. Nice lunch today would recommend

Opulent interior. Buzzy atmosphere. Felt special. Good service. Food overpriced. Steak grisly. My fault for ordering steak in a seafood restaurant? Perhaps, but I’ve had much nicer steaks for half the price. Smoked salmon (I know, I’m such a cliche) nice, but literally just some salmon on a plate with scant accompaniments. Felt a bit measly. My wife did that thing of ordering half a lobster then realising there isn’t a lot of meat. Her Paris breast desert was really nice. My chocolate truffles were chocolate filled with a kind of jelly, so not really truffles. Drinks expensive. £15 for a small glass of low to average cab sav. Cocktails and shorts with mixer same price, though nicely done. Overall, £280 for a meal for two felt like we paid for the fit out, the location and the experience (nice live jazz) more than the food and drink itself. I liked it, just wish the food had been a bit nicer to better justify the expense.

Another long, lovely lunch with friends at Scott’s. Great oysters, starters and some main courses, as the ‘special of the day’ the fish pie , was not very special, rather bland.. The wine selection was good,,, desserts were good as well. Service was very good as well with a great atmosphere .

I always receive fantastic service from all the team members at this restaurant, from the reservation team who take my booking to the waitstaff and the managers. The waitstaff are always helpful in suggesting the most appropriate wine for the occasion, instead of trying to upsell the most expensive option. The food is consistently great, and I highly recommend the atmosphere and venue for any occasion. I want to give a special thanks to Gianmaria, who provided superb service when I visited with my mother and some family friends for a special occasion.

Way too expensive for what it is... ridiculous...no wonder the one on Castelnau road is closed...what's the point of a chippy if you're gonna sell a frozen fish for £12-14...another £5 for a bag of soggy chips...£2-3 for a can of coke...there you are, your cheap lunch for a £20 per person....it's a joke.

Ordered from this store for lunch today (spicy chicken) and have had really bad food poisoning! :( The bowl was also pretty bland, with no flavour whatsoever! So disappointing!

Rick Stein is an admirable man and when he started this was a great restaurant (he took it over from the Depot all those years ago). But it's gone downhill at quite a speed now that his sons run it - and today the Barnes outlet has all the rip off quality you expect from so many London restaurants these days. The seafood curry used to be one of the stars of this place and there also used to be a wonderful Asian crab dish that was a mess to eat but absolutely delicious. But no more. We had the curry recently and it was utterly average. And my wife still can't get over one occasion when she asked the waiter for a glass of white wine and it came in at £17.50. Service is always stretched here in my experience. Better experiences locally at Sam's Riverside and the Ivy Chelsea.
