Seven Star in Swindon

Easily the best chinese takeaway in Swindon. Wouldn't go anywhere else. The food is always so tasty and fresh. The staff are lovely too.

First time used this takeaway,chicken tough and stringy,ribs were nice,on time delivery.and polite staff,but won’t be using again

Thought I'd try this chinese as I'd read so many good reviews about it, But, although ordering was very efficient & arrived on time, the food was average at best. The 2 unexpected Fortune Cookies was a nice touch.

A takeaway from Seven Stars is always a treat - the food is piping hot and the portions are very generous. The meal deal for around £24/£25 is superb value for money, especially for the quality of the ingredients. After trying a number of other Chinese takeaways in Swindon, Seven Stars is now our only choice!

Having waited nearly 40 minutes for confirmation of our order (having tried 7 times to call them in the interim), when I eventually was called, I was quoted up to 2 hours for delivery. At which point I rejected the order. I appreciate they were busy, but waiting 40 minutes for confirmation is inexcusable - especially when you’re unable to contact them in the meantime. We will not be returning.

The service was excellent, from ordering on line; staff ring back to confirm order and take payment; then delivery within 20 minutes.

I was introduced to Seven Stars by a work colleague and i placed my order and went to collect it, I was given the totally wrong order and had to take it back, the Chinese girl that gave it to me, i felt knew it was the wrong order she gave me as she was quick to apologise when i returned, once i got the food the food was ok, sceptical on whether i return as not a good start

Great spot, went here on a saturday night for a collection. Phoned up about 5pm, lady on the phone was super nice and helpful and even put my order into the meal deal for me which made my total cheaper! Upon collecting establishment was modern and nice-looking. Was greeted and allowed payment of card at counter. My order was ready when i arrived. When i got back home, all the food was still piping hot and tasted delicious. Scrum-dili-um-sious. would reccommend!

Did a delivery this time 1 1/2 wait which was delivered within that time, due to me ordering it earlier it wasn’t a issue. Ordered the meal deal! Food in the past as been really good, tonight was very poor. Chicken curry, very hot, chicken stringy. Crispy duck was not nice at all myself & granddaughter had this, did think the chicken wasn’t cooked, on the curry wasn’t eaten. Didn’t complain last night due to my daughters birthday. Didn’t want to spoil the evening, bad enough the food was not up to there usual standard.

My wife and I have been living abroad for the past few years but prior to doing so, we ordered regular home deliveries from Seven Star Takeaway which we considered to provide the best Chinese cuisine in Swindon, having tried & been hugely disappointed by every other Chinese food outlet in the town. Having recently returned to this country to live permanently at our home in Swindon, we decided to order again from Seven Star for home delivery on the 16th of this month, initially onine 2 days before the delivery date and followed by a telephone call at 4.45pm on the day of delivery during the course of which we were able to slightly amend our order and pay by card rather than cash on delivery. We were delighted to discover that the high quality of cuisine provided by Seven Star has not dropped one iota during the time we have been away and, if anything, has got even better. We ordered a number of dishes for a 6pm delivery which arrived promptly on time and were all delicious. We would therefore highly recommend this establishment to anyone who desires a high quality Chinese meal. We note that there have been some adverse reviews of Seven Star but from our past and present experiences, we can only assume that these have either been written by rival establishments which is commonplace in the trade or by people requiring delivery at extremely busy peak times. We would accordingly advise prospective newcomers to Seven Star to ignore these adverse reviews and order the best Chinese cuisine in Swindon for home delivery.

Started getting our Chinese takeaway meals from here a couple of months ago after several recommendations. Really impressed with not only the quality of the food, but with the professionalism and friendly nature of the staff. Last visited on Saturday 15th October and had a lovely takeaway meal. The portion sizes are generous and of the highest standard in every way. I requested a collection time and our order was ready for collection within a minute or two of this time, so was still piping hot when returning home. Definitely our new 'go to' place for Chinese takeaway food! Fabulous!

Large portions, delivered hot, presented nicely and the food was really nice and tasty, i had crispy chilli beef and the sauce was a little spicy just had the right kick to it and my partner had the Mongolian lamb and he said the meat was the right amount for the dish

Seven stars is one of our favourite Chinese’s which we have visited on many occasions. My favourite dishes are the satay king prawn and the King Prawn In Batter With Lemon Honey, all dishes are good. Best Chinese around. If you haven’t tried it you must!

Brilliant service from the start, placed the order and got a telephone call from them and they clarified my order and i paid by card over the phone, did have the option to pay at the door, it was a Saturday night and was advised that it could be up to 2 hours wait which was expected, i received the delivery from a very polite lady with a lovely smile, good all round customer service

Great food yet again from Seven Stars. Always hot and tasty with top ingredients. Each dish tastes different and cooked to perfection. Would 100% recommend 10/10

Just had my 1st takeaway from here. Ordering was easy. Was told it would take 45 mins for my delivery to arrive and it came in under 50 mins. Food was hot, tasty, and excellent value for money. Will definitely order from here again.

The food from this takeaway is really delicious, all dishes we have tried have been very good. Portion sizes are good too.

Food was fine until I realised it was entwined in a hair! We got halfway through and then stopped. Didn’t really enjoy the experience but at least my teeth got flossed!

Oh Wow - brilliant all round service from the selection of food, to pricing and portion sizes, to the initial call taken by very polite staff, who confirm your order and then take card payment, to the delivery drivers who are very clean and presentable...

The best Chinese out there wouldn’t go anywhere else. The food is absolutely impeccable and good potion sizes! The lady on the phone was super nice and polite, not to mention speedy. Definitely ordering again soon :)

Myself and my husband order from Seven Stars at least once a month, it's our favourite place for Chinese food in Swindon. We are both vegetarian and struggled to find a great Chinese restaurant that served a variety of vegetarian dishes when we moved here...

Disappointing. The satay chicken skewers starter was just skewers of dry, grilled chicken with a tiny, separate pot of satay sauce. My husband's sesame prawn toasts contained very little prawn. The Szechuan dishes were sickly sweet, and the mushroom fried rice contained egg, despite us asking for it to be omitted. I suffered from diarrhoea for 2 days as a result of not realising. On the good side, they rang back to confirm our order, and the prices weren't extortionate. We did only have 6 king prawns in the main course though, and the veg content was unexciting (mostly onion and bamboo shoots).Sorry, but will order from Abbey Meads Rendezvous next time.

This is our regular Chinese, the food is always hot, early or on time and tastes amazing! The staff are so polite, both on the phone and the drivers. Couldn't recommend seven stars enough! If I could give a 7 star rating I would :)

I’m not one for writing long reviews. My wife Becky is not easily impressed and she was by the recent take away we had from Seven Stars. Only a few seconds after we submitted our online order the phone rang with Seven Star on the line ringing to confirm our order. They told us when it would be delivered and that’s when it arrived. All the people we dealt with were friendly and polite and the food was hot, fresh and tasty. The best take away of any kind I have had in a long time.

Ordered my first chinese meal online from here, can say absolutely lovely and had a call to advise about the wait time which was really helpful. Delivery driver also followed social distancing. Would highly recommend.

Had a lovely takeway from here last night. Really tasty, very good. There was supposed to be leftover for lunch today but it was too nice so, er....Was advised 45 mins wait on the phone when ordering (they said this straight away before they took our order, to make sure were were aware and happy - we were). Food arrived after about 35 mins. Very happy.

Would definitely order again, delivery time was up to an hour and seven stars followed through with their stated delivery time. The delivery driver was very polite and had the change ready in his hand. The young woman was very polite and friendly over the phone, she was quick and efficient and told me all the necessary info at the start (delivery time + delivery charge) great customer service. The food was honestly the best Chinese I have ever experienced. I ordered chips in garlic salt, special fried rice, chicken in satay sauce, beef in mushrooms and bamboo shoots and sweet & sour chicken balls. Your able to change the dishes to your liking without hassle as I changed the sweet & sour sauce to a curry sauce, and the sauce isn’t greasy or lumpy at all like other takeaways. The rice is so good and packed with flavour and meat. The chips r in a massive portion, but so good, if I could eat 10 bags of them, I would. I also found out that if u order £30 or over u can get free prawn crackers and a soft drink ?? I choose the prawn crackers and they weren’t a tiny little bag as I expected them to be. Such good food, should be the no. 1 choice for Chinese in Swindon. Will definitely be ordering soon. :)

Must say have been using this take away for years and has been very good ...However on Friday 4/1/2020 I was very DISAPPOINTED at the customer service ...I ordered £62.05 pence worth of food for the family ... I ordered several dishes including chicken with yellow bean sauce and cashew nuts ! I received beef with black bean sauce and cashew nuts ... so totally wrong ..I called immediately I got home to be told that the order was correct and was read back to me by the young man taking the phone call. This is not true as we always have chicken dishes which they would be able to see by our previous orders . Have to say very disappointed and will have to look for a new takeaway .shame as loved it but new year new change I suppose

had our first takeaway last night from here. Highly recommended. Hence the wait for a delivery was 90 minutes, but we popped down to collect. It was very hot, and nicely presented in good tubs - not the flimsy ones. Honestly will return again - each dish tasted as it should have done. Highly recommended.

Family were over and we fancied Chinese, as we used before, we knew we were going to get a good meal, we ordered and was told an hour to an hour and a half, it was a Saturday night, so expected, really nice chicken balls, Mongolian lamb, crispy chilli beef, omelette, chicken Hong Kong style and chicken curry, our address is new and the delivery lady found it with ease, very polite and happy staff, which also means a lot to us customers

I ordered online as I was unable to get through,had a call 20 mins later to say I had to pick our order up 7:10pm,arrived at 7,I finally received the order at 7:25,went home only to realise our order was wrong,we rang to explain the problem,we were told by the “manager” Hong to wait 45 mins for a delivery or we could get a £5.50 credit,which was disappointing as the family were over and hungry,and by the time we got off the phone,the food was cold and dishes congealed in the tubs,so disappointing,I’ve binned it and ordered another take away from someone else.£25 down thank you seven stars.

Based on other reviews i thought it was worth a try, Ordered a curry and rice, service was quick, but the food was bland and disappointing.

Contrary to (some) others reviews, our experience was overall very good. I wanted to pay by card, so submitted order online then I phoned them a few mins later. Lady was polite, retrieved my order quickly and I paid over the phone by card. Food arrived approx 30-40 mins later and was piping hot. The dishes we had were all tasty and we would use them again.

Have recently found this little gem and have used a few times now. Ordered food for two for delivery, very efficient and polite and our food arrived in about 30 minutes. Piping hot, generous portions, not oily, vegetables still crunchy and possibly the best chilli beef to date ❤️ Overall, very, very nice indeed!

A very enjoyable Sunday evening with the family celebrating Father’s Day, a treat from the kids even though dad paid , food was yet again superb and delivered promptly even though we’re a distance away, never had a bad meal and always tasty and hot, would definitely recommend

Awful customer service. Placed an order online for delivery in 2 hours. Order had been accepted on website (I can see it in my profile), but nobody phoned me to confirm as usual. After an hour of waiting I've called them myself, and the answer was: they don't accept orders online....but they can take order by phone now (after an hour of waiting!) and the delivery time will be over two hours, but from the time I called them, not from the time I've placed an actual order on their website. There are plenty of Chinese take away around here with much better customer service.. Very disappointed.

Clean, tasty Chinese food. Have ordered several times and found the food very good every time. Unlike a lot of other Chinese takeaways, they don’t use excess salt too. Just the right flavours!

Have been here a couple of times for Chinese takeaways and not disappointed - not a restaurant and there is free parking right out front. The main thing is great food quality so would recommend it having used twice. Staff are friendly and service is efficient although i imagine it will be busy at peak times given popularity so plan ahead...

Ordered for the first time earlier in the month and collected the food. It was probably the best Chinese food I’d had. Found out they did a delivery service so a week later ordered the same food for delivery. Ordered at 6:45 for 7:30 delivery. At 8:50 I called and cancelled and got a refund as it was just too late for my family to eat. Shame, as the food is great.

Just been waiting an hour for our takeaway order only to receive a call saying it won’t be delivered for another 2 HOURS as there online system only releases orders one by one or something!!! A least an hour now before able to collect! Needless to say order cancelled and never going to use them again! Very upset and hungry family!

We decided to take a chance on a new takeaway last Saturday, (as a result of our usual takeaway having software issues). We were very impressed with the friendly phone-staff at seven stars; the accurate delivery time, but most of all; the quality of the food was incomparable to any other takeaway in Swindon, we will most certainly be ordering again.

Just had our food delivered and where do I start!! Egg fried rice - bland, sticky, almost cold. Chicken and cashew nuts - no water chestnuts no bamboo shoots,no carrots, no peas, no sauce!! Please, don't waste your hard earned money ordering food here - it's the worst I've every had!!

I've used Seven Star for nearly 7 years, fantastic lovely staff. This was until new management arrived. To start with, I received the same politeness, and lovely food as I always have. Then suddenly in the past 6 months, things changed.

Have ordered from Seven Stars 3 or 4 times now and each time my online order has been followed up very quickly with a confirmation phone call and an option to pay by card over the phone or by cash when delivered. We usually opt for the Legend Meal deal where you can choose 3 dishes plus one rice or noodles. The food is always well cooked, delicious and plentiful. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

After a long stressful day of DIY, I decided to order in Chinese for dinner for myself and my son. I have one or two 'usual suspects' that I normally go to, but went for pot luck and saw Seven Star rated highly on Trip Advisor, so pulled the trigger and went for it.

I go to Seven Stars from time to time. The owner and staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is cooked quickly and is delicious. The portions are generous ( especially the chips). Highly recommended

The man that takes your order over the phone is so rude and is more interested in getting you off the phone than getting your business. Last time I ordered I told him my order and told him my address. As soon as I told him my address he said he doesn’t deliver there, well I’ve ordered before and they always deliver to my house no issues, so I told him this and he said ok they will deliver to me. Said I want to pay by card, he says there is a 50p charge, fine whatever I said this is ok. He then said oh delivery is 1 hour + as there busy. Ok that’s fine then he says Actually probably hour and a half.. I say ok. Then he says oh also theres a £5 delivery charge?! I said to him I’ve ordered from you lots before and you’ve never charged this much? He reckons it still stands. I said do you just not want to deliver to me as if you don’t I will just go elsewhere no need to come up loads of things to put me off? He was then rude to me, In the end I put the phone down and ordered elsewhere. I hope the manager reads this and realises they need to provide better customer service or give that guy some training as I will never order from here again because of the service I received! From the minute I told him my address it felt like he was coming up with more and more reasons to put me off ordering, so strange you would of thought they want the business, obviously not! Well I can say it’s definitely put me off from ever ordering again!

Great service over the Christmas period. Delivery was good and prompt, the delivery drivers are clean and tidy and so happy in there work, especially the lady, so polite and I feel this makes all the difference on receiving my food, very popular, food is so tasty and recommend the Squid and Szechwan Chicken, so taste it rocks.

In search of a good Chinese takeaway, we tried Seven Stars based on Tripadvisor reviews. We tried a number of dishes, crispy beef was good but I would have liked a larger portion, The prawns with garlic and ginger, Szechuan chicken and chicken balls were also good and very tasty. It wasn’t knock your socks off, but it was hot, fresh and fast, what more do you need?

Had a great takeaway again from Seven Star, hot, fresh tasty and not swamped in oil and msg. Very good value for money, good experience ordering as I have allergies too and they were spot on. The food is fresh and really tasty and plenty of it....plus we got free prawn crackers. Really enjoy the lemon chicken and duck spring rolls, not too pricey either. Will only use these guys for Chinese food in Swindon. Glad to see they have 5 stars score. Fab definitely recommend.....

Love this takeaway...recently(ish) it's been refurbed and has a great menu, friendly staff, great service and lovely fresh tasting fortune cookies which I do love!

Always a lovely meal with fair prices, We get take aways from this restaurant regularly and have never been disappointed. My personal favourite is the crispy beef.

Further to my previous review of 24th July, my wife and I have continued to order from this superb takeaway at least once every 2 weeks and I can say without any hesitation that the dishes continue to be of the highest quality and more than enough for people with normal appetites like ourselves. Because we do not have transport, we always require home delivery from the shop in Pinehurst to our address in Eldene and the charge for this is just £2. There is a home delivery option on the Seven Star website although the transaction is handled slightly differently from other home delivery outlets in that there is no facility to pay online. The way it works is that during the online order for home delivery process, the customer is asked to give a telephone number & an email address and within a maximum of 1 or 2 minutes of the order being placed, a telephone call is received from an excellent English speaker who verbally confirms the order and offers the option of paying by card (which I always do over the telephone without experiencing any problems) or by cash on delivery. At the same time, a delivery estimate is given and on the numerous occasions that we have had deliveries from this takeaway, we have found that the delivery is always effected within that time even if at particularly busy times like a Friday evening, and even though we live right over the other side of town from the takeaway, the estimate is an hour-and-a-quarter to an hour-and-a-half; in the interim, an email is sent confirming the order. The food itself always arrives piping hot and continues to be of the highest quality and far superior to any we have had from any takeaway/home delivery Chinese restaurant in not just Swindon but other parts of the country where we have lived in the past. Indeed, the food is better than that served in many Chinese restaurants in which we have eaten and the inclusion of a couple of free fortune cookies with each order is a nice touch. All the dishes we have had from this takeaway have always been cooked to order and the taste of every single dish we have had has been out of this world, particularly the Aromatic Crispy Duck which always comes ready shredded to avoid having to mess around with a couple of forks and the Mongolian Lamb, both of which are served with Pancakes & Hoi Sin sauce. To sum up, it is our opinion that this is by far and away the best Chinese Home Delivery/Takeaway in Swindon and we have no hesitation in highly recommending Seven Star to anyone who wishes to enjoy high quality Chinese food in the comfort of their own home.

We have never had a chinese meal as good as this before. Exceptional quality / taste / price. Very impressed. HIGHLY recommend. The whole experience was perfect. I rang the order through and took the dog for a walk and collected it. no waiting time at all, service was fab and food was lovely and hot when i got home. AMAZE-BALLS.

First time I have used this for a takeaway. Could not fault .. despite the Driver not finding my house immediately, the food arrived piping hot and was delivered with a smile. The food was great and despite changing some aspects of the food ie not too hot, no peppers etc the order was perfect ... will deffo use again.. Thank you :-)

Chinese meal arrived on time, the meal was hot but prawn balls the batter was uncooked inside curry sauce strange taste wont order again payed over £17 disappointed.

We've had a takeaway here three times in the last three months and every time the food has been very good. The on-line order is confirmed by telephone immediately after placing the order and delivery is typically close to the requested time. Just one issue - on two occasions, the prawn crackers have been forgotten - only a minor point, but the food is worth it.

Tried Seven Star based on the reviews as my usual Chinese was too busy. Polite staff and delivered with a smile too! I used their online ordering system. Once you place your order they ring you to take payment over the phone if you don't have cash on delivery. Really delicious freshly cooked food. Highly recommend the won ton soup and the crispy tofu starter! High quality takeaway and I will definitely be ordering again.
