Popadoms were greasy, rice was awful and the chicken was cold

main meals, ingredients and flavour good. Let down by lack of poppadoms, cold chewy chips and a rock hard nan bread. Asked for cauliflower without potatoes, not received. Actual meals worth buying again.

My order was late by half hour my food was cold I had to reheat it up, I called the restaurant 3 times after it was shown on the just eat app it was delivered but it was not….my son who is autistic had to eat his food late it was ordered around 9.30pm but arrived at 11.00pm I would like a full refund for the hassle you have caused me.. I’m a unhappy customer also when I phoned the restaurant they said they had only one driver

The food was good, which is why I’ve ordered from this takeaway before. However, this time will be my last. I placed my order at 2pm and the items did not arrive until 4pm. There was no update provided in the meantime regarding the delay, which I find completely unacceptable. While the food quality remains good, the delivery time was appalling. To make matters worse, no goodwill gesture was offered, such as a refund of the delivery charge. I won’t be ordering again.

We had an awful experience and it was entirely due to the manager’s behavior😤.It was clear they had no interest in customer service or professionalism. What made it worse was how they treated their own employees yelling at the servers in front of customers and making everyone visibly uncomfortable. A good manager should lead by example, but this person clearly has no idea how to handle customers, staff, or even basic responsibilities. If this is the leadership, I can only imagine how miserable it must be to work here. We won’t be coming back, and I’d recommend avoiding this place until they find someone who actually knows how to manage a restaurant.

If you want a traditional balti cooked and served in its own pan, this is the place to go. There are many other balti restaurants nearby, but after trying most of them in the last 20 - 30 yrs, Shebabs has come out on top for me. The Balti menu is extensive, but I have found the balti chicken mushroom & spinach to be the most flavourful, but the other options are great too👍. Oh, by the way, bring your own booze to this place as it does not serve alcohol.

Hice un poco de investigación sobre las casas de curry antes de mi fin de semana largo en Birmingham y me encontré con shababs con algunas buenas críticas sólidas escritas. Se encuentra en el famoso triángulo de Balti y este lugar ha resistido la prueba del tiempo desde 1987. No quedan muchas de las casas Balti originales en el triángulo. Vine con mi esposa, hijo, hija, cuñado y cuñada y mi sobrino y su novia. El restaurante no es grande, pero es cómodo y nos dieron una cálida bienvenida y el personal era atento cuando era necesario. Todos tuvimos varios entrantes y se acordó que todos los disfrutaron. Tuve que elegir un Balti famoso y opté por uno de cordero y me gustó mucho y estaba lleno de sabor y era la cantidad correcta de especias para mi paleta. Optamos por dos de los Nan’s de mesa para los ocho y nunca antes había visto panes Nan tan grandes, son enormes y eran más que suficientes para todos nosotros. Probaron mantequilla y no estaban demasiado cocinados. Los precios me parecieron razonables y no tuvimos ninguna queja sobre la noche. Nos divertimos mucho y tuvimos una gran experiencia.

Had to wait over 2 and a half hours for the food to be delivered. The food is really nice, I've been there before and I would go back but I wouldn't recommend ordering it as takeaway.

For me one of the best Indian food places in Birmingham. The waiters are very friendly and help you choose based on your preferences. The establishment does not sell alcohol but you can bring it from home or buy it at a nearby store. The account is for 6 people.

Food very good. Think the balti bowls we had needed scraping. I realise balti bowls have to be seasond as I have some myself but there was baked on food on ours. The glass on the tables need to be taken off and cleaned on the underneath also the seating and floor needed a deep clean would recommend the food

we rarely leave reviews on Just Eat but this was the best curry we've had in a very long time. seasoned perfectly, amazing quality, big portions. My biryani will last another two meals! My husband's naan was perfection. Lamb Handi incredible. Chicken Pakora was small but perfectly flavored. Can't wait to eat here again. Probably in person.

Lovely food, friendly delivery

Brillante casa Balti. Vinimos por algo de comida antes de un concierto. Aunque ocupados, nos sirvieron rápidamente como solicitado. El personal es muy amable y atento y un gran ambiente. Tenía carne y espinacas y un pollo balti. Las abuelas eran increíbles. Sabor increíble, gran mezcla de especias y texturas. Sería un visitante semanal si viviera en Birmingham.

Ordered food at 6.30, it’s now 9.15 and we still have no food. Just eat says it’s been delivered and the restaurant says ‘it’s on its way’

If you are looking for a traditional balti restaurant with a wide variety of dishes, Shababs Balti Restaurant is a good option. Had seen lots of reviews so thought would give it a try and wasn't disappoint. We had mixed sizzling starter and of course a balti for main course wow it was fantastic full of flavour the dish was red hot due to been cooked traditionally in it so be careful not to burn your self. All staff were very friendly and helpful would definitely recommend in curry triangle come here.

Quería probar este restaurante desde hace mucho tiempo. Y recorrió una distancia justa para hacerlo. Tenía balti de pollo con entrante de kebab de shish. Mi esposa tenía champiñón de pollo y saco balti y compartimos un Naan llano. Mi entrante era muy sabroso. Ambos baltis donde fino el pan naan era excelente. El lado negativo eran los tazones de balti donde en el lado usado y debe ser raspado. Sé que los tazones de balti están en su mejor momento cuando sazonamos como yo tengo el mío. Pero sazonaremos y quemaremos dos cosas diferentes. También creo que el piso de los asientos bajo vidrio en la mesa necesita una limpieza profunda. Pero la comida secundaria positiva era muy sabrosa

We always come to Shababs whenever we're in Sparkbrook. Definitely the best curry in Birmingham. The menu is brilliant with a large variety of different dishes. Everything I have tried is delicious. All the staff are really friendly and it's always a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The service is always 10 out of 10. Shababs is the pride of Ladypool Road and I heartily recommend this restaurant to all Balti lovers.

Absolutely incredible flavours. We are vegetarian and the veggie Balti options were amazing. We had Balti Paneer Masala and Balti Veg Jalfrezi - both tasted individual and soooooo tastey. Great portions. BYOB. Nann was huge, everything served hot, great service and great value for money. It was well worth the trip from London, great experience to visit the Balti triangle, a gem of Birmingham. We hope to be back at Shababs soon!

Awesome and timeless. I come here a couple times a year. The staff are super friendly and very attentive. If you want a traditional Birmingham balti then come to this place, all the other places are balti imitations. Wish this place all the best and go from strength to strength.

We traveled from Nantwich after hearing great things about this restaurant. Despite arriving late, around 11 p.m., it was still busy but we were seated right away. The wait was about 20 minutes, so we started with poppadoms and a delicious mix of sauces. When our meals arrived, we were absolutely blown away! My wife had the Chicken Balti, and I ordered the Madras Chicken Balti. I have a sensitivity to too much vegetable oil, so I asked if they could use coconut oil instead. They were incredibly accommodating and didn’t hesitate to make the change. As for the curry.. honestly! it was phenomenal, without doubt the best meal I’ve ever had. I thought I knew good curry, but this was on another level, far beyond anything I’ve tried in any restaurant, regardless of cuisine. I just wanted to leave a positive review because we were both thrilled with the entire experience. I can’t recommend this place highly enough and can’t wait to come back. Thank you, everyone at Shababs, for making our night perfect. One last note, many restaurants leave us feeling overly full and uncomfortable, but not here. The portions were generous and didn't leave us feeling sluggish and rotten! If you get the chance, go have a Balti. It’s honestly the best—500 stars from us!

Main courses tasted great. However, sauces with poppadoms were poor. Starters were terrible eg onion rings tasted like cheap frozen rings. Most ordered starters didn't turn up. Huge delay serving main courses. Service was poor. Not recommended.

Waited an hour for a starter.with only 3 other tables occupied...waited a further 30 mins for my mains and was very disappointed. Would definitely never eat there again.quality of the food was poor and as bad as I've had whilst eating out........and expensive for what we received......

The website stated that the food was delivered but it was not. It took in excess of 2hrs for the order to arrive. Despite chasing and being told max 15mins (after 1.5hrs wait). The curry was very average. Will not order again.

£19 for a lamb curry with rice. Small portion size, No drinks or naans. What an utter rip off. Food wasnt even good, i left half. I hear they pay the staff incredibly poorly (£4 per hour) too.

Comer un balti en Shabads ha estado en mi lista de deseos durante años. Me encanta mi curry y viajé de Glasgow a Birmingham para comer un pollo balti allí el 24 de octubre. Fui con mi sobrino, y el balti fue fácilmente el mejor que he comido en cualquier restaurante indio (y he tenido algunos) . . tristemente hubo un par de decepciones, el baño con los popadoms aunque agradable estaba en un plato pequeño, siempre he tenido el hilado de tres platos de elección con cebollas, chutneys y raita, tristemente el Shabad dip era inadecuado tanto en cantidad como en elección, en segundo lugar teníamos la mesa nan en lugar de nans individuales y aunque cocinado bien y esponjoso y era fácilmente suficiente para 2 personas era muy simple, sería bueno si Shababs tenían las mismas opciones para nans de mesa que lo hacen para nans individuales . . Dicho esto, el balti era magnífico, la parte delantera del personal de la casa era muy acogedor y atento y nos hicieron sentir muy bienvenidos. Nos dieron una opción de lo picante que queríamos nuestra comida, y llegó rápidamente y estaba muy caliente, justo como yo quería, precio - en cuanto a que era £ 20 cada uno y vale cada centavo ... Volvería a comer allí sin duda.

Overall decent spot to go in the balti triangle. I got a various range of curries but the chicken tikka masala just hit the spot with the naan. Would definitely go again.

Last night we went there we order lamb we spend £20 but totally waste it no tastes in food no taste in curry just a too much spicy thing and tasteless waste of money

Definitely a 5 star curry. And I'm particular. So glad we chose this place. Had a king prawn Balti with spinach. Awesome! And those of you who know will know the Hairy Bikers came here upon one time and even cooked. Still a very tasty dish made with their name on it. I think you'll be glad you made it to this Balti Triangle restaurant.

Its worth the hype - the best balti I have had, however its a very small place and the area is a dump to be honest... Best to book and you can bring your own beer and wine.. give it a go just leave the nice car at home like I did... free street parking after 8pm

Wonder who calls it a karahi and the tikka was full of oil as if it was fried and then just reheated to be served. Will never be going again even if it was free

Though the restaurant was a bit crowded, which is understandable given that many people travel from afar to experience their incredible cuisine. A great experience - empty dishes alround

One of the worst if not THE worst indian takeaway I have ever had! The poppadoms were burnt the salad was full chunks of salad not diced with no herbs/coriander in it. The dip was a single dip which looked like leftovers from other dips mixed together. The nann was rubbery and doughey and only cooked on one side it was dreadful. As for the main the meat was over cooked the portion was only in a 500ml tub there wasn't much sauce and It certainly did not taste like a chicken tikka masala as I ordered. The only positives I can give is that the spicing was good and there was a good proportion of meat in the dish, that said I definitely will not be returning. A waste of a hard earned £36 and a disappointing rare treat!!!

Absolutely awesome curry! Four pals and I hit the joint tonight (Friday) for our second feed on this curry drag over the years. We hit Birmingham only once per year for Symphony Hall music geekery, but have done so since the late nineties. Whilst it isn't the highlight of our weekend in town, it is indeed optimal that we receive our share of premium quality scran. The place was busy but not rammed. My Tandoori grill was arguably the best I've tried. The cheese naan tasted fine and was pretty huge (I dusted it, don't panic). Rice's and starters sailed down. Beers were scored from the off-licence some yards up the road so it saved a few quid. Service was friendly and conversation fluent. Impressive all round for sure 👍

This is our go to place for a curry. The staff are always friendly and the curries are always delicious! No matter how busy they are the food always comes out quick and amazing, real authentic Indian curry! Deffo worth a visit

there’s a reason this restaurant is iconic. the food here is fantastic - I’d especially recommend the tikka balti dishes for people like me who love flavour but have a low spice tolerance

I visited this restaurant on the 21st August 2024 I came up from Manchester with a friend to try this place out and we had a table nan and a garlic chicken balti and definitely one of the best curries I've ever had! 10/10

The stars says it all the staff are amazing and very attentive nothing was too much trouble . They catered for our every need. Looking forward to our next visit.
