As always food was delicious, can't fault it, reasonably priced, and kids love it

It’s in desperate need of a refurbishment, it’s shabby and dirty. I wouldn’t eat here. Too many machines and not enough comfortable seating areas.

Called in today, great food as always, nice staff great service,would highly recommend! and is excellent value for money.

Just needed a bite to set us on our journey after a visit in near disabled home who recommenced it. Spot on what we wanted and good value to boot.

Brilliant food and service always enjoyable

First time here with my Dad and kids, friendly service, clean and well managed. Ordered food which turned up hot and and well cooked and presented. I'm a bit of a steak snob but the cut I got was very good quality and cooked to perfection, despite being rare it still had a prefect charred finish. All over dishes were equally as good. Will definitely come again. Thank you for having us.

Needs a good clean. It has always been my regular for 30+ years. But the past few years, it's totally gone downhill. Would not recommend it to anyone. whoever owns the place needs to have a walk around and see how bad it really is......

Best local anyone could ask for. Food is absolutely divine. FOH go the extra mile and make you feel more than welcome & the atmosphere is next level compared to majority of places. It's always good to see people enjoying the karaoke. Then you have the managers/boss who are very helpful. 5* rating from me

Lovely pub, nice and quiet; food is delicious. The steaks are divine - and the primary reason I come here over anywhere else! The chips are also top notch, and the crispy chicken strips great 👍

We go a lot to Shuttle and Loom and it's consistently good. Food and service excellent. Great value also. Served by Jake and John who go the extra mile to look after us and it almost feels like we are in our own home. From the outside , it looks a little rough and ready, but don't judge a book by its cover. Give it a try.

My self and partner went to the shuttle and loom in darlington for a meal. It's been the first time that we have eaten in there in many years. My partner had a burger and I had the steak. The steak I had was cooked by Morgan and it has been the best steak that I've had in a long time. Will definitely go back there again.

We were served by Kieran..he's a lovely young man.Very helpful,good at his job.Good sense of humour. It was a bit quiet at Lunch time when we visited..but that meant we didn't have long to wait for our meals, so we were on a winner there. The food was lovely..well presented. We all ate up👍 Will defo go again,next time we visit Darlington. Thanks Kieran.

Una cálida bienvenida de los clientes que ya estaban sentados que podían ver que no estábamos seguros de cuál era la etiqueta con respecto a conseguir un asiento. Entonces nos dijeron, por un miembro del personal muy ocupado, que seleccionar una mesa y el orden en el bar que era genial, ya que tuvimos tiempo para leer el menú muy detallado; tantas opciones deliciosas. Una vez ordenado, la comida estaba muy bien presentada. Las patatas fritas estaban perfectamente cocidas, no flácidas y grasientas y las hamburguesas estaban muy sabrosas. No hay absolutamente ninguna prisa para comer y salir y este lugar tiene la sensación de un pequeño pub / restaurante local, ya que no hay presión del personal que se cierne sobre ti, pero me preguntaron si todo estaba bien, lo que tomé como que significa que habrían acogido con beneplácito comentarios si no hubiera estado bien. Viajamos desde Escocia para una visita familiar, pero sin duda volveremos cuando vuelva a Darlington. Espero que podamos sentarnos afuera la próxima vez que el tiempo lo permita. (Oh, el lugar está impecable a pesar de parecer un poco ‘cansado’ en algunos lugares. )

Me and my wife took the grandkids about 2 weeks ago the kids are fussy eaters there really enjoyed the food the staff was very friendly we enjoyed it so much were taking them again during the school holidays

Big family get together,all food was spot on, service was great,big shout out to the staff,Jane, Jake and John,made our family from Liverpool more than welcome and Rob the chef,food cooked to perfection all 12 meals on our table within a couple minutes, brilliant

Been visiting here for years. Not too far from my home so occasionally pop in usually once every couple of months either for lunch with a family member or after school meal with my Son. Food is always served hot and tasty. Staff are polite and friendly. Always manage to get a table and food served in a good time frame.

A great pub with great food. I love the 'shuttle' and always appreciate the good service. I may not be there every night, however I'm there everytime I can't be bothered to cook, or 'date' night. I have never had a better gammon anywhere ! Big thumbs up. I cant stand it when people tell me its, 'just one of those "ding" it pubs'. I cant fault the food or service. Just dont steal my table !

Popped in for a couple of drinks. I've eaten here plenty of times before and intended to again a week after this visit. Changed my mind. Food looked and smelt nice but the tables were sticky, (tried 3 different ones) toilet floor was wet and the paint on the walls in the ladies was all bubbled up from damp and it smelt really damp too. Gone right down unfortunately

So we went out for a family meal walked into this place and sat down the tables was filthy with grease and left over chocolate ect It was dirty the tables then I thought it's OK they could just clean when they I've ordered food so I grab menu and open it to find the menus was filthy aswell so I decided to just go elsewhere and not even order the place was filthy and I couldn't stomach seeing all that on table and the menus let alone what the kitchen could be like if the pubs like that never going to go back to there again I'll stick to the brinkburn pub 1 million times cleaner and better

Staff do work hard but feel sometimes not enough when busy. Kids can be unruly running around, and accident is waiting to happen. Only come here as it's local.

We as a family love the shuttle and loom. . I give the bar staff a big shout out, they go above and beyond to make sure you are made to feel welcome. The food is exceptional, especially the chicken burgers, we play bingo on a Friday afternoon which has a good atmosphere and then on a Friday teatime they have children's entertainment on which is usually a cartoon character (likes of spiderman and Disney characters. My grandkids love it there on a Friday after school. I would recommend this place top class good old British pub.

Often go for the buy one get one free burger offer on a Thursday night. Food is great, value fantastic but it is a typical 'chain pub' experience so four stars from me

The Shuttle & Loom caught my eye on the way back from a trip to Thirsk in traffic as I diverted off the A19 which was the usual car park after Ingleby Barwick northbound in rush hour. Going through Darlington I saw the Shuttle & Loom as I queued and thought b*gger it, I’m having a break while the traffic calms. The Shuttle is a typical GK pub , akin to how the Traveller’s Rest at Wideopen had been before changing ownership as per my last review. The Shuttle too looks a bit tired, but they’re doing their best with what they have. I splurged on a 9oz ribeye steak cooked medium which to my surprise came out on a sizzling plate which was very impressive. Chips, peas (tasted just like we grew when I was a kid) onions and half tomato with a side of fluffy onion rings nom nom. The onions sadly were a bit cremated on the sizzler so it might be better to pile them on top of the steak, but I get why they presented it that way. I got horseradish sauce as well as my Diane sauce in a jug, and OMG the horseradish sauce was the hottest most evil horseradish I’ve ever tasted- I like food with bite, but strewth, this brought tears to my eyes, literally. Went down a treat apart from that- the barman, who looked like an Ian, was probably puzzled why I’d had so little out of the pot. Herein lieth the explanation. The Ian gave very good service and checked if all was well with my food as he should have done, so top marks to him. He appeared friendly and efficient to all customers that came in while I was there- testimony to decent footfall. The traffic’s dispersed now just like in The Truman Show, so I’ll be on my way. The Shuttle probably serves the locals very well, but could maybe do with a spruce up to keep it fresh and interesting. Still worth a look if passing and fancying a bite and/or a beer though 👌🏻

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Assistant Manager Reiss for being with me and my family when I had a fall up the stairs. It was a scary moment as I wasn't sure what was happening. Came in a few weeks ago, the atmosphere was relaxed and the staff were friendly and helpful. I only got a drink, but was happy to see that the menu had vegan options. :)

Quick catch up with friends, seems nice enough, food was OK didn't have what I originally wanted but what I got was tasty.

Pubs Amazing always offers great meals and the staff will always give you the time of day. they are raising money for Macmillan collecting sweet tubs i like this as my grandad had PV and was nice to see a business that cares.

At dinner with my partner, we shared a steak fondue the steak was perfectly cooked and the tray was massive we were able to take the leftovers home (it would have been a waste) the staff was lovely and had a good laugh with us. we will return to see what else the menu has to offer xx

Went there today January 7th 2024 for food for my sons birthday . Anyway I orderd my food my kids and husband and my mam orderd same time for her and my son . Anyway after waiting my mams food comes and the waiter walks away and says everything OK with ur food I was like well my mam has got her food but were is our food we orderd same time . 2 minutes later aww I'm so sorry it never went through to kitchen. He said this happens alot with this table . We'll if it happens alot why make people wait. By the time our food came my mam was finished we waited like a hour in total . Food came after spending nearly 50 for 2 meals . The stake was just grissle all fatty and chewy chicken was dry . Was so angry 😡 all that time and the food was awful . Husbands burger bun was burned and burger was dry. We got a bag out of car and emptied the food in it and when we got home we give the dogs it . Fair enough mistakes happen but last time we went same thing happend our food come and my mams never and we get it aww sorry . Really bag customer service and bad food . Totally ruined our family meal today .

This was the first time ever me and my wife had had a Christmas day on or own with no kids and thought it would be nice to be able to have a meal out with no prep and take time for our self’s for the first time in 27 years. I expected a nice warm comfortable enjoyable meal and us to relax and enjoy our self. Boy was I wrong! I pre booked through your app and you then after rejected our original booking (after I paid) due to the times were wrong on your app and had to arrange a different time. Me and my wife headed over for 12:44 arriving in good time. On arriving we were instantly faced with what looked miserable staff and the place was freezing cold and uninviting. The staff looked like they didn’t even want to be there!!! Yes, it is Christmas day but if you work in a pub you should expect to be working Christmas day and should be well compensated for working that day but not obviously by the way the staff were looking. We were seated at our table and well what a miserable looking table it was, and we could see no effort had been made at all. That should have rung warning bells straight away and me and my wife just looked at each other. We ordered 2 x diet cokes which did arrive promptly and the staff were nice. We waited a small time before the pre ordered starter arrived. My wife’s soup was supposed to be soup with “chunks” of butternut squash, it was more like microwave baby blended pureed soup with out of date bread that had been overcooked, you could tell but the dry skin around the edges… My pre ordered choice was camembert cheese with a selection of dipping veg .. yeh more like over cooked cheap cheese with badly cooked day-old wilting veg. The cheese was rock hard on the bottom and over cooked on the top (look liked someone didn’t know how to use a microwave). I didn’t finish the starter as it was so bad. The plates were took away and we waited for the main meal to arrive. They came in oky time (waited about 20 min). However, they were a disgusting mess done by a 12 year old with no sense of how to cook. If this was made by a chef then you need to restrain your chefs, I wouldn’t even call whoever made them a cook. My wife food was supposed to be a “NUT ROAST WITH CRANBERRY GLAZE”, nope it was a sloppy undercooked in the middle, burnt on the top mess, with crap thrown over the plate to fancy it up !!!!! it was disgusting to look at never mind to taste. My main meal was supposed to be a pre orderd Medium rare cooked Sirloin steak with red wine sauce, chips and rocket and onion rings….. There were no onion rings, the stake had been “MELTED” to the OVERCOOKED BURN ROCK HARD Onions on the skillet, the steak had been literally burnt all the way though and there was more gristle than meat. I had had enough!!! My wife left I approached you bar and told them not to bother bringing me the next meal out as there food was disgusting and they had ruined what was supposed to be our first Christmas day, I also told ill go and cook my wife a proper meal. They offered to refund our meal which tbh I didn’t care about at the time and just handed over my credit card, ill presume that will be refunded in the next few days. Thank you for destroying our Christmas meal lucky when I got home I pulled out all the stops to make it better. I would be ashamed to put meals out like that personally ..

The food was great really enjoyed my burger. Our waitress Jane was lovey and really helpful would recommend we came for the Christmas party they had on for the children but ended up staying for tea 😀

We eat here quite often and the food never fails us and the staff are always great and helpful. It is one of the cheapest in the area and easy to get to. One of our regular places :)

Not usually a fan of Green King pubs as the food has deteriorated over the years so we weren't expecting much from our visit to this one. We were very mistaken the food was delicious with great sized portions, we will definitely be back and often. Don't miss out on some great priced tasty food and visit this pub quickly, highly recommend.

Bar staff were spot on, don’t remember their names but it was 2 lovely lads, food was great and speed of service was spot on. Will definitely be returning

With the rise in Costa I feel the pub had some great offers in place. £2.79 for a John's Smiths is a winner for me. Food came out quick and hit even though they were busy. We will be returning

Me and my husband went for a meal with our friend's. The menu was easy to ready and the young man helped us with all of our queries. The food came out sizzling and the server made our experience very special for me and best friend.

Really enjoyed our visit here the other day. Service was fantastic and so were the food prices. We used to go to the Brinkburn but found this now to be our new go to. For some reason the prices are lower at the shuttle and loom. We will be coming back

Fantastic family friendly pub. They have loads of entertainment on the weekend for families. Food is lovely and service is outstanding.

I wasn't expecting a lot from this pub, but I was pleasantly surprised. The pub has the usual pay at the bar with your table number system. There are plenty of different areas in the pub to sit, depending on how quiet you like it to be. There is a large outdoor space that is fenced off to keep young children safe while you eat your meal or have a drink. We ordered the mixed grill, which was cooked well, and arrived in good time. The service was friendly and professional. The best service I've received in years. The only thing that let the Shuttle & Loom down, for me, was the music. It was good pub music, but I prefer something a little more chilled when going out for a meal. All in all, an excellent find. I would recommend this place if you are looking for good 'pub grub' at a reasonable price.

Waited for ages at the bar to be served. Had to stop a barmaid to ask her if we could order drinks. She clearly objected to us asking her and disappeared into the kitchen. Eventually returned and we ordered our drinks which she got wrong (I wanted a half of lager - she gave me a pint) when I asked her to change my drink she huffed and poured half of the pint into a half pint glass. When she took my money she charged for the pint not the half!! She clearly is the wrong person in the wrong job. No smiles … no welcome … customers were obviously an interference for whatever she was doing … absolutely no chance of me ever going to this pub again, and I recommend others don’t either!!

The disabled access could have been better, it was a very tight turn for my disability scooter but once inside the building was excellent.

Food was brought out sporadically which was disappointing but the server was apologetic and really good. Not a massive range for vegetarians but very good value. Decor/furnishings could do with a refresh looks tired in areas.

Had a lovely afternoon/ evening at the shuttle. We went for a family birthday meal and even though there was 16 of us (including 2 x 1 year olds), nothing was too much trouble. The food was great. We'll definitely be returning soon. Thank you to all the staff, you were amazing even those not on shift but still helped out because you were busy

Friendly & great service last night for 16 of us that went for a family meal out for a birthday. We ordered steak fondues, mixed grills, rib eyes & chick n mix platters along with burgers & 2 children of 1 year old So multi generational! They had run out of chicken bites, but they were so good in letting us know this before ordering & we found plenty on the menu to choose from. Rib eye was the nicest steak I'd had for a long time! Even went back in tonight to see if the food was just as good as last night, the food was beautiful. No complaints here & service was fast. It's nice to see the Shuttle & Loom have made it more for family friendly again like it used to be, we haven't been in for a while. Thank you again & to John for the food. We'll see you again soon.

The full building stunk of BO and grease. The food was absolutely disgusting. I have not been well since I have eating this monstrosity of idea of nice food. #GREASEYHOLE

We eat here at the Shuttle and Loom regularly and we are never disappointed. The meals are nice and hot, well presented. The staff are very nice and friendly always smiling. Keep up the high standard. Well done. 👍

After waiting 45 mins for Sunday lunches and meals for under 2s, the meals were appalling. The beef was actually just slices of fat and the mash looked like it had been standing under a hot plate and quite frankly tasted like smash. Nothing was freshly cooked at all. Definitely wouldn't recommend and, definitely won't be going back. I did wonder why it was so quiet on a Sunday lunch time. Very over priced for the quality of food been offered

Stopped here for lunch with my girlfriend after a busy morning sofa shopping. Lovely dinner as always such a wide variety on the menu and staff great. We were served by jane who was brilliant and was always there for us even though she looked rushed off her feet. Will return.

Disabled toilet door lock does not work so you must sit there door open for all to see. Bits of food found everywhere on carpets. Tables very greasy with particles of food all over. Upon leaving this place I said once is enough never again.

Been for lunch .staff very abrupt hair in our burger .steak pie was cold pastry rock hard gravy cold .Will not be returning complained but was told well we busy

Food was lovely and the women who served us were really nice.. I took my 4 year old unfortunately he had a blackcurrant cordial and accidentally knocked the full glass over.. the woman serving us offered to replace it due to the fact it was a full glass but one of the managers said they would not replace it as it would cost them too much to replace drinks .. I find this ridiculous considering it would have cost pennies if that yet they charge £1.45 I'd understand if it was coke or alcohol but seriously a cordial?? After we just spent £50 for food and drinks i find that shocking

My husband and I visited the shuttle and loom on a Tuesday teatime, the atmosphere was pleasant, we were served by Jane, Harriet and chef john, the service was excellent, very friendly and welcoming and the meals were very tasty and served hot, I would definitely recommend a visit

Jake made us feel welcome and advised on the menu. The food was gorgeous. Will be back even though I live 45 minutes away.
