Below average bbq even for London. The driest piece of brisket I have ever tasted in my life and I couldn't even finish it. The bark of the short rib had bits that tasted like cardboard. Expensive sides that cost as much as those in Hawksmoor. Cold and drafty interior. Service was good overall.

Visited London as a birthday trip and my partner and I had long planned to hunt down Smokestak for a meal. It was the best part of the trip! The whole decor feels very Mad Max. As you walk in, you're overwhelmed with the delicious aroma of the food. And the food... Oh it was the most delicious, succulent meat we have ever had anywhere - my partner was literally licking bone marrow off the bone! And, funnily enough, it was the cheapest place in London we visited! The server also made some great recommendations and was really lovely. Smokestak was alone worth the journey and we'll make sure to visit whenever we're back in London!

I have wanted to go to Smokestak for a while following reviews and recommendations from like minded members of a BBQ group I am in. Upon arrival we were shown to our table but waitress wasn’t sure that the 7 of us would be comfortable there so moved us downstairs to a large table with plenty of space. Before we were moved I was watching a chef meticulously ball some icecream to top off a sticky toffee pud, dessert decision was made then. (glad we were moved as there wouldn’t have been space for the dishes we ordered) We ordered a good selection of starters and mains to share, all came promptly. My personal fave was the crispy ox cheek. Honourable mentions to the confit burnt end tacos, 30 day aged beef rib and brisket. My wife has told me I need to attempt to replicate the charred greens with pomegranate side. The restaurant was busy, probably close to capacity showing its reputation. The staff were lovely and attentive, the restaurant décor had a cosy earthy feel. Totally recommend a visit for any bbq / slow cooked fan like myself. I left full and drifted peacefully into a food coma. The only downer was the noise from a large group we shared the room with, but didn’t detract from a great meal with friends. Definitely a place id happily revisit. Sadly I didnt take any foodie pictures to share.

Ok, this gets a 5 star review because I had some feed back which they took on board and made right. The starter and cocktails were exceptional. The mains were disappointing unfortunately. I had the beef rib and it really lacked flavour, also I ordered more sauce and it never came. I spoke to them and they were very apologetic. We had a sensible conversation and it was all good. I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and I'm sure the meat will be super tasty for other people.

I visited this restaurant today for the first time with my boyfriend, we didn’t have a reservation but they accommodated us at the kitchen counter right where all the magic happens, we were lucky enough to watch the chefs do what they do best and it was amazing. Chef Rado and Leonardo really made us feel at home serving us their delicious food and explaining the cooking process of the dishes. What an amazing experience we will definitely be back!!!

Found this place through TikTok. We definitely walked past the restaurant as there wasn’t any signs 😅 so many entrances but they all said no entry. We went in the afternoon yet it was dark inside with little to no lights. We got a selection of items to share, wings were quite small, messy and little meat. All meats ordered for the mains are put onto the same tray, we ordered chips as it did not seem quite a lot. We agreed that the meat choices were dry and a little bland, wish there was better dips for the meat, I didn’t enjoy my meal and had less of it and my friend had more. Plating just looks very small for what we expected. Felt let down on the food that we decided to have dessert elsewhere.. wouldn’t come here again, no rush, we spent about £30-£35 per person. Service was not great, was rough grabbing a servers attention when wanting napkins or the bill.

This was my first time trying American-style BBQ, and I was not disappointed at all. I completely understand the hype now, and I’ve been thinking about the brisket ever since I dined here. We came as a group of three to celebrate my birthday. The interior had a very industrial vibe, which was pretty cool. Even though the space seemed small, there was definitely enough room to feel comfortable. We had an Italian rosé, which I personally didn’t enjoy. It was quite dark and probably just the wrong choice – I wish we’d gone for a red instead. However, that was literally the only thing I could fault. To start, we had the padrón peppers and the burnt end tacos. Although messy, they were absolutely worth it. The ‘sumacy’ onions cut through the rich, succulent pork so perfectly, and combined with the soft tortilla, it was an excellent start. Then came the crispy ox cheek – cheeky and indulgent! It was just so good, and the anchovy mayo took it to another level. I feel like this restaurant is doing everything right; the use of pickled, umami, and vinegar flavours to balance the fattiness of the dishes is spot on, and they execute it perfectly. Now, onto the main event. We had two portions of brisket and the sausage, paired with the raw broccoli salad, chips, and a garlic aioli dip that was to die for. The standout was, of course, the meat. The brisket was so melt-in-your-mouth tender that you could barely hold it with a fork – honestly, a spork or spoon might have been more appropriate! It was incredibly flavourful and perfectly balanced. The sausage was out of this world, with just the right level of spice and flavour, complemented by the perfect snap. The raw broccoli salad was a refreshing addition that I really enjoyed, although my friends weren’t as keen – but it was nice to have something fresh to cut through all the meat. It was a lovely touch to receive a complimentary dessert for my birthday. The staff were fantastic, especially when it came to allergens. One of my friends has a peanut allergy, and they carefully went through the menu, ensuring no cross-contamination, which was much appreciated. I’ll definitely be returning – it seems like a great place for groups of four or more. At £50 per person for the three of us, it felt decently priced for the quality and experience.

This place did not disappoint - food was fantastic, I had the beef brisket & chips and the sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Staff were friendly, service was super quick. Slightly on the pricier side but rightfully so. I felt like it was reasonable for the quality. Only thing was how dark it was - i literally couldn't see how to get in to the restaurant 😂 there was a tiny darkly written "pull" sign on a dark door. Although this might just be a me problem. It was also super gloomy inside but I feel like this is just the vibes this place is going for.

This has been on my list for ages, finally got there for lunch and loved it. I enjoy smoked meat but not the overly sweet marinades and sauces (apparently even the gojuchang wings are sweet), so our server was very helpful in guiding our choices. The burnt end tacos were sensational, the tortillas really tasted of corn. The ox cheek croquettes were crispy and tender, we also shared a brisket bun and melting pulled pork with delicious sides. Our choice of a bottle of white rioja was a perfect match with the food. No room for pudding. The room was buzzing but not too noisy, the servers were friendly and focused. Planning the aged beef rib for my next visit

Perfect for hungry people! The food was wonderful. We shared ox cheek croquettes and wings to start … divine. Melting meat and tender wings. Definitely a good combination. Ideal for two to share. For mains we shared a brisket bun and tacos with the beetroot-goats cheese. Oh, and fries. Again, all divinely cooked and full of flavour. Ideal to share between two. If I had to pick my favourite of the mains to have again the bun just edged ahead of the other two. We didn’t have room for desert so can’t comment on it other than to say that if it was as good as the mains I’m sure it’s delightful. Along with drinks and service (which was faultless as our server was attentive, but not intrusive), it came to about £100. Worth every penny and i would definitely go again. Final tip: if you fancy a cocktail pre-dinner, there’s an excellent cocktail bar next door. In fact, they were the ones who recommended Smokstak to us!

Brisket was drier than I expected, and lacking in flavor. Pulled pork was the same, covered in a sauce that wasn’t particularly memorable. Rest of the dishes were alright, price is decent relative to the area but portions were small as a result. Service was friendly and warm, and their tip is added into your bill. Paid around £80 for what you see here + bone marrow & 2 drinks which is a bit steep I feel.

We however were waiting 50 minutes for our mains, had to ask a couple of times and when they brought it out, they were all cold and soggy (obviously it has just been left out). Cold brisket is not very nice so if you eat here just make sure to keep asking them if your food if it has not arrived.

Best smoked food in London by a mile. Great busy atmosphere and just fun from start to finish. Went back again with teenage kids….now they love it too. Not a chintzy American vibe, great smoked food. As a Kamado Joe addict, it’s great to come and study at a place that gets the flavours and textures right every time. And don’t forget to order the aubergine - that is the single best smoked vegetable in London.

First time dining at Smokestak! It was difficult to get a reservation but eventually managed after having notifications on. The dining experience wasn’t comfortable as the tables were far too small which made it difficult to eat but the service was good. Our waitress was very cheerful. I ordered all the meats but was somewhat disappointing. The beef brisket texture was tough and also the tacos was dripping with oil! Nothing really stood out apart from sticky toffee pudding!! If you’re a female I would not advise using the washroom! It is a unisex toilet, I walked in and it was just full of men with doors wide open!

Wow. Probably some of the best food I've ever had and as a bit of a foodie that's saying something. The drinks and starters in particular were astounding. Had the tacos to start which were almost spiritual, then the Ox Cheek and Wing. The flavours were all amazing. The main courses didn't live up to that high level but were still very good. The brisket was the star. The pork belly and rib were still amazing but didn't give me the oomph of the taco. Then the drinks. So interesting. I had one which was a shot of whisky and a separate shot of pickle juice. It was delightful. Then another whisky based cocktail. I always say the real test is whether you would go back and I'm already planning my next visit for my birthday in Feb. For 3 of us it came to £60 each maybe. But we weren't holding back. I think you could get a good meal and drink here for £20....or push the boat out little for £30 to £40. I will be going back.

The food is really good and worth it! The best among all we have ordered was the Sticky Toffee Pudding. However, the service was trash and not worth the service charge at all. We were thinking of not even paying for the discretionary service fee. The male waiter should have his attitude checked. What triggered us was when we decided to order another dish. The male waiter exclaimed, "you could have told me that you guys are still ordering, I have already cleared the dishes". He exited by giving us a look. At the end, we paid in cash for the meal and waited for more than 5 mins for the change. The male waiter came back and asked, "are you guys expecting change? You don't have to, cus we do not have change for the customers." What a cheat. He could have informed us that no change will be given to customers. I don't want to be cheap but What type of restaurant dont return change to customers? I could have paid in card, but we didn't want to deal with his stinky attitude. The service can be thrown out the window to be honest. As what all reviews highlighted, do not come here if you expect good service for the price you pay for. Or even, don't pay for the service fee if you are served by the male waiter. The rest of the staffs were exceptional though. He's a real black sheep of the restaurant.

We ventured to Smokestak in the knowledge that Manteca and Oma/Agora (both from David Carter, the founder of all three restaurants) have fast become two of our favourites in London. As Smokestak, now 10yrs old, was the "OG" of the pack, this was something of a pilgrimage. As you enter you're greeted with a wall of heat coming from the open kitchen and smoker - a reassuring comfort from the blustery weather outside and an immediate appetite booster given the racks of food in various stages of preparation. The decor is dark and stormy - Carter has spoken in the past of the aesthetic of all of his restaurants being intimately connected to the cuisine, and so the industrial wood and metal shares more in common with the sawdust BBQ joints found in the Southern states of the USA than the other restaurants in the portfolio. It all adds to the experience. The food is unsurprisingly fantastic. Some of the best padron peppers we've ever had, followed by a pulled pork bun and burnt end taco. The main event - brisket with a moreishly spicy mustard sauce, chips and a smacked cucumber salad - were similarly excellent. And the dessert menu is well worth the indulgence - an excellent sticky toffee pudding, a sweet and sour deep fried plum tart. Service was also warm, cheerful and relaxed - our waiter was joking with us from the off. Only minor critique: if you're going in winter, wrap up warm as the large windows aren't insulated and you'll feel the draft. Though perhaps in Summer that's a plus point!

Smokestak is an accurate description of what your clothes will smell like as the extraction system is undersized for the sheer amount of meat that’s getting BBQ’d here. One star seems a little harsh, but bear with me, and consider: there are too many tables per unit space. You’ll likely be told you’re standing in the way as you attempt to come in. The food is halfway OK but nothing to write home about. You have to really like extremely busy and loud restaurants to enjoy this, and if you want decent wood-fired meat, just go to Moro and you’ll be able to actually relax at the same time. Yes, I am getting old.

I was craving meat, so I decided to try this place. I recommend booking, as the place is always full and you risk not getting in, as happened to me the first time. I would like to thank one of the guys who works there "Johnny". He gave us great advice and we were really happy. Every place should have staff like this. I recommend trying "ox cheek, gochujang wings, beef brisket, 30 day beef rib and the chips with garlic mayonnaise which is delicious. The meat melted in your mouth🔝

Smoke Stack is my favorite spot in London for incredible smoked dishes. The food is outstanding, and the service is top-notch. My top recommendation is the beef rib it’s absolutely divine! The chips and oxtail croquettes are also out of this world. A big thank you to the blonde receptionist who kindly found us a table despite not having a booking, and to our amazing waitress, Valentina, who took exceptional care of us throughout the evening.

From other reviews looks like I'm an anomaly, but found the whole experience underwhelming. The staff were excellent though. Atmosphere is awful, far too many tables, dirty restaurant, terrible smell downstairs, toilets much worse than a wetherspoons. Food across the board was poor. Sauce on the chicken wings unbearably tangy, virtually inedible. Beef short ribs that were supposed to be menu highlight were super dry. Miles behind what you would expect from even an average American BBQ restaurant. Sides and desserts all standard pub fare. The cheek croquettes were decent, but nothing to write home about.

First time here and I was not disappointed by anything I experienced. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was dark and sexy - a perfect combination. The staff friendly and knowledgable about their menu and wine list was a perfect blend to compliment the food. This is a must go to venue so get it on your list of places to go in London.

Came for Sunday lunch. It smells great going in! Generally enjoyed the food - especially the brisket and wings - and the service was friendly and timely. Couple of small things for me: 1) It was pretty cramped in our area and the music vibe for a Sunday lunch wasn’t great. 2) only a couple of small sauce pots for the middle, and the pulled pork was more lumpy than pulled.

Buzzy fabulous restaurant! The food was amazing - ox cheeks, followed by brisket, pulled pork, fries and kale. All gorgeous, the ox cheeks were fabulous and the brisket melted in your mouth. Our waiter Eric was brilliant!

The food was fine, I enjoyed the crispy ox cheek starter but the rest was nothing to write home about. I felt the choice was not as good as the first time I went. I was not keen on the deep fried plum "tart" and had to leave it, no balance in the flavour profile. Disappointingly the restaurant was freezing cold. My friend and I sat in our COATS for our meal which was exceptionally disappointing.

We ordered all the appetizers on the menu. The pigtails are highly recommended. Be sure to save the remaining sauce to dip the remaining dishes in. It really tastes sensational. Among other things, I liked the bone marrow, crispy ox cheek and the beetroot. I found the rest of the starters to be average. For the main course we had the beef brisket, the beef ribs and also the red cabbage, the smashed cucumber and the skin on chips. I really liked everything here except the brisket. Overall, definitely worth a visit!

Food was pretty good for the most part. One bit of my brisket was juicier than the other. Tahini greens and beers on offer are interesting, though I wouldn't bother with the sticky toffee pudding (especially at £8). Recommend the gochujang wings in particular. Oddly dark inside but surprisingly busy for a Tuesday night (and we turned up at 5:30pm!).

Drinks came quickly, staff are friendly, the vibe is fantastic. The food was disappointing, particularly the brisket: 2 slices as a main meal isn't enough - it felt like a starter. I was hoping for some really authentic southern American bbq but this wasn't it.

We enjoyed our time at Smokestak overall. The food was really good and full of flavour and the wine list was decent, too. Service was a little lacking but it was a busy night so really can’t complain. Would be fun to go with a bigger group to try more of the food!

A friend highly recommended this place, and I’m so glad I took their advice. From the moment I walked in, the staff were incredibly attentive and polite, ensuring everything was perfect throughout my visit! The food was absolutely delicious, with perfectly smoked meats that melted in my mouth and sides that were just as unbelievable! The staff went above and beyond, checking in regularly without being intrusive, and they had great suggestions. It’s rare to find a restaurant where the service matches the quality of the food, but Smokestak nailed it! I’ll definitely be returning and recommending it to others!

A busy place - and food highlights why. We eat off a sharing menu (for groups of 8 or more) and the food was very good. You come for the meat - and that is what they excel at. The beef rib and beef brisket was exceptional. Service was good - but would have liked them to explain why they were plonking on the table. Will return.

What a meal it was! The pulled pork and the crispy ox cheek were a highlight. The grilled platter was great overall and the charred greens along with the aubergine were great too. Service was quick, not always attentive but the place was full when we went.

Loved our experience here. The only reason I gave them 4 stars on ambience is because we were having a very windy storm and could not stay warm out on the patio. Our servers were fantastic and attentive and so fun to talk with. Food was excellent. My whole family was tired and jetlagged from coming in from the US early that morning but so glad we kept our reservation and enjoyed our evening at SmokeStak though. Definitely recommend!!!

This place is nice, good service good atmosphere, good food but I think, there are better smoke houses than this one, I did give my feed back to manager, example the beef and chicken wings were to most and did not get that smokey tast. Plus I'm not worded about paying, 100 pounds, it has to be up there, example day before I eat in smokehouse in latonston and I found it better and cheaper. Mr Olgun hilmi

The food was amazing, the service was great, and the barbeque vibe was superb. If you are not a big meat eater, then this is not your place, but if you like something meaty, I highly recommend swinging by... but you have to book in advance as the place was fully packed.

Fantastic restaurant!! This was my second visit to Smokestak and the place did not disappoint! On this visit we brought some meat loving Canadian visitors who all agreed this one of the best meals they had in their two weeks here for both the food and service. We were all sharing so tried a fair portion of the menu and I can’t fault a single thing. Don’t miss the Wood Roasted Bone Marrow or the Crispy Ox Cheek to start, then the Brisket Buns and Pork Belly Ribs for mains. Also don’t overlook the veg dishes, the Roasted Aubergine, Charred Greens and Smashed Cucumbers were sooo good! We will definitely be back!

Had an excellent meal at The Plateau. It was a little difficult to find above Waitrose, but once there we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful. My wife is celiac so they made every effort to make sure her needs were taken care of. The quality of the food was very high, tasty and cooked to perfection. The ambience of the restaurant is very pleasant, particularly on the balcony overlooking the square. Finally they treated my daughter to a birthday surprise at the end, which was totally unexpected and a lovely touch. We will definitely be going back and I'd thoroughly recommend this little gem to anybody.
