Great takeaway and service. We went to pick up our food for takeaway and while we waited we sat and enjoyed a drink . Next time we call we will try the restaurant as the takeaway food was great .

This restaurant is a little gem, been a few times now & each time it seems to get better, throughly 5 * deserved.

An absolutely 💯 fabulous Indian restaurant & Takeaway 👍 authentic Indian Cuisine and a great dining experience. The mango lassi makes a cool and refreshing drink with hot food! The service is outstanding and friendly. I highly recommend this restaurant 👌 well worth a visit!

Popular busy restaurant. Sensible prices and fast service. Generally I found the food overcooked. Had Onion Bhaji and mixed tandoori grill. Also very dry but had the sauces so was ok. Wouldn’t rush back

The service, the food and the whole experience was fabulous and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this restaurant to anybody visiting Pickering. I had a chicken madras sand my wife had chicken tikka, both were good sized portions with lots of tender chicken breast. The pickle tray was excellent and reminded me of how they used to be back in the 70s and 80s, large pots with lots of each condiment and all good quality. The rice and naan bread were spot on. The staff were really nice and the service was excellent. We’ll definitely be visiting again next time we’re in or near Pickering.

Sat us under a air con blower turned on old splashes of food on wall next to table. Nice staff food not the best .

The curry we ordered was bland and tasteless (two different dishes). When we complained, the waiter told us we should have told them we wanted "spicy." I had assumed Indian food is normally spicy!? However, the lamb chops I ordered as a starter were pretty good.

The restaurant was very busy when we visited on a weeknight, but that still doesn’t excuse the poor customer service - the waiters and staff were downbeat and snappy, verging on rude. The food was average at best - the chicken was tough and dry and the sauces not especially flavoursome.

Nice please good food friendly staff. It was quite busy with locals I think so that's a good sign.

Eat here several times a week, lovely freshly cooked food and the staff are lovely. So friendly and helpful to everyone. Special occasions are the best ever if anyone wants to celebrate a Birthday.

Quality of food and service is amazing. I go most times I'm over in pickering. I tried the king prawn balti this time. It was unreal.

We stayed overnight in Pickering and choose this restaurant to eat for the evening. It was very busy, always a good sign. And when the food came up we realised why! Delicious. Great service. Wish we lived closer. A real gem!

Took half an hour to be seated and 2 couples got seated before us who came in after and food was just shoved down to us . Food was good but had better . Had the cheek to ask at the end if I was going to give a tip . Won't be returning .

As visitors to Pickering we were keen to enjoy a nice meal, we were not disappointed. Despite being incredibly busy, they managed to fit us in for an 8.30 booking. The service was excellent and when the food arrived, we couldn’t be happier. I had a delicious Pathia and my partner enjoyed a wonderful chicken Bhuna. The bread just melted in our mouth would highly recommend.

This place was full to the rafters and I can see why. Food and service were amazing I would highly recommend it.

A quality little restaurant just off the main street of Pickering. It's been here for a long time and is always a busy restaurant which says it all really. I would recommend booking if going on a Friday or Saturday evening. Staff are very friendly and the selection of dishes is varied for all curry tastes with many options. I had a Preet Piaza one of my favourites though possibly a little overcooked with the lamb, maybe chicken would be a better option as I find with many curries at other restaurants the lamb can be over done, only my opinion but I feel the kitchen may be over stretched with the amount of takeaway orders as well as restaurant orders. But do not let this affect your choice. Overall a lovely meal at a very well established and great restaurant when wanting a good hearty curry.

This is the best Indian restaurant that I've ever been to and I've been to a few. The curry was fantastic, the service great and I can't wait to go back. We recommend booking because they are so busy.

If I hadn’t witnessed this food being cooked by Pakistani chefs I could of sworn it was cooked by someone who had never tasted Indian food previously As a man of Indian origin I think I am quite qualified to critique so called Indian food however, I’m not even sure what we received could be termed food All our dishes were made with the same tomato sauce with a few spices tossed in. The vegetables were uncooked, the rice hard, and the meat fatty I would happily award this restaurant Zero stars but unfortunately that’s not possible

Starter sizzer mix appeared to be cooked then Microwaved, the meat was like shoe leather. Chicken Dhansak ok but no lentils, Tikka Masala tasted of tomato ketchup and overwhelming coconut, awful. Very dissapointing.

We were only in Pickering for the day as we were attending Forest Live in the evening and wanted something to eat before we went and after a long journey to get there. I looked on TripAdvisor to see what pubs/ restaurants were around, there were a few so I rang a couple to be informed that they don’t open and/or serve food until after 6pm! We found Spice4U open at 5pm and went in. The service was friendly and efficient. We ordered a couple of dishes and a bottle of wine. The food was delicious; I had a lamb dopiaza, it was fantastic; my husband ordered a mixed biriyani but just chicken biriyani arrived. The staff were apologetic but my husband didn’t mind as he said it was the best he’d had in a long time. The bill was very reasonable too. We’d definitely recommend to visitors to Pickering.

The starter was great - vegetarian platter, but the main courses were disappointing. Mine was far too sweet (chana dhal) and an odd bright red colour, my partner fared a little better although his lacked flavour.

We stopped by to grab a takeaway, based on other reviews. I'm quite a fussy eater regarding takeaways, because there's so much poor quality food about. This was a really good takeaway, with very reasonable prices. My partner and I both thought the food was well above average, the staff were friendly, and the restaurant itself was busy, which is no surprise considering the great food we had to takeaway. My only minor gripe was the box with the food wasn't stapled closed very well, and had the sharp stables stuck out which had I not noticed, would have resulted in bleeding thumb or fingers... Otherwise near perfect

I never leave reviews but I have to this time. I've had lots of Indian/Bangladesh food during my time and this is by far the worst one, I was extremely disappointed and had high expectations. I did takeaway, and every curry absolutely just tasted like biting into a coconut, nothing else. Even the madras, the masala curry, absolutely everything was complete coconut. Things that shouldn't even taste like coconut, did. Completely ruined my meal. I spent over £80 and not one dish was nice. I also now currently have diarrhoea from the food yesterday. Honestly disappointed and disgusted.

The worst possible Indian food you could ever have. It's a bangladeshi restaurant operating under the guile of Indian and is horrendous and distant from even the slightest idea of real Indian food. If you are after Indian food being in Pickering please stay away from this overhyped restaurant which is fooling customers through fake and inflated reviews on google.

Went for a late curry one Friday. Just about squeezed us in it was so busy still. The food was amazing and the service was fab. Lots of families and friends meeting, so the atmosphere was great. Also offered a doggie bag without us asking. 5*

We hadn’t booked but we were greeted with a smile & shown to a table. It was a busy Sat night & the restaurant was heaving. Saying that we quickly ordered drinks & our meals. Both arrived promptly & the food was amazing. It’s a well run little gem. If I had one criticism, it would be that the waiting area for take outs is packed & people are stood waiting where there are a couple of tables where people were eating. (Very overlooked). We can highly recommend & if in the area will definitely go back.

Curry was full of food color and never had such aloo jeera.it was covered in gravy.best thing was papad and daal. Definitely not an Indian taste but if you want to try without any expectation, feel free to go and order food . I’m definitely not gonna order it again.

Love love this place Great for in house dining or take away. Understand meals having to be gluten free. And when family are home, dairy free too. Never had a problem with the meals. Perfect !!!

Without doubt the best in the area, will accommodate all tastes on or off menu. Excellent helpfull staff, I would book in advance though. Extensive menu but as mentioned will cater for all tastes....simply ask. Main street parking is the one and only issue.

I really enjoyed it. Food was good, service was prompt and portions were for hungry people. The only slight negative was that the desserts were very Anglophile’d. I’d personally prefer more authentic Indian desserts. Recommended for a decent Indian meal if you’re in the area.

Always good food from here. Went in last night for a curry and wasn't disappointed again. Had a small wait as it was so busy, but the service was quick with the amount of takeaways and dishes constantly coming out of the kitchen and we were looked after and asked if we wanted more drinks etc. Waiters were lovely and the food was beautiful with good sized portions. The only downside was it was very crowded so hard to hear other people at the table, but that just shows how popular they are and for good reason. Will always recommend!

Greeted upon arrival by smart friendly staff and shown to a table. Our order was taken promptly and after starters our meals were presented and placed on a hot plate on the table centre. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Will revisit soon.

Too busy, food very average, first time there and no rush to go back or recommend. Took 90 mins to get a starter! Needs a separate take away area too, crowds in on your when dining in.

Ordered a take away at 6.30pm. Told our collection time was 7pm. I arrived at the restaurant at 10 to 7 and finally got my takeaway at 5 to 8. Would you order a take away from there again? I won't.

Superb, very good food and extensive menu. Friendly staff and great service. It was fairly quiet when we arrived - on a Tuesday night- and almost full by the time we left. There seemed to be quite a few regulars known to the staff - always a good sign.

We happened upon this place whilst staying in a nearby cottage. On arrival on a cold, damp, Tuesday evening, we were surprised to find it full. We waited 15 minutes for a table and it was the most worthwhile wait I have ever had. From the superb lime pickle with poppadoms to the amazing “chefs special” Diesh Lamb main course, to the lightest naan bread. This place is on a completely different level to even the best curry houses. Contemporary decor, dishes and service, this place is a must visit when in Pickering, but book a table to avoid disappointment.

Great food and service, seem they try to get more ppl and table which imo makes it seem crowded. My husband had to walk round another table in order to sit opposite me. I'm sure the ppl on that table didn't appreciate it either.

This lndian restaurant is Miss it at your peril. The food is excellent, the choices are very good, the portions are enough for most people and the staff are superb. The prices are very reasonable. There are less expensive Indian restaurants but I'd advise you that the extra is worth it. If you are close, make the effort, you won't be disappointed

Came here for my 38th bday meal for 2ppl and have been greeted by friendly and helpful staffs as I'm allergic to spicy! (Burnt tongue) so opt for butter chicken and missus has RojanJosh and have to say the chicken are massively cooked hot and very tasty! Would definitely come here again! Just a Saturday 7th Oct day trip of six family members visiting Pickering while we stayed at the nearby Forest Holiday's lodges at Keldy. Our intention was to have an evening dinner at the Black Bull, just round the corner, but it was fully booked. We had already passed the Spice 4 U, and all had commented on the gorgeous aroma eminating from within. It was packed to the rafters inside with diners, plus we had two dogs, so as it was 7:30ish we decided to order online and take the meals back to our lodge. It took about an hour from ordering to receiving the meals, so we called into the White Swan pub for a cool beer etc while we waited. it took a little longer having to wait than initially advised, but I suppose it was understandable with so many diners, however once we got back to our lodge and opened up the well presented takeaway boxes, we were not disappointed. We had six meals, naan breads, bhajis, salads etc, all cooked to perfection, all delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant, and without naming names, we happened to see going in, a well known local TV celebrity, so I presume if its good enough for them, it must be highly commendable. Thank you Spice 4 U for our delicious meals, and would definitely consider again, should we be passing.

When we visit Scarborough we always have a take out from Spice for U in Pickering. The food is absolutely delicious. The best Indian take out I’ve had.

For over two years a takeaway from here has been our monthly treat. Superb food. Unfortunately for the past three visits the biriani has been insipid and the masala sickly sweet. I can only presume that they have a new cook. Looks like we'll have to try elsewhere next month. A real shame.

Takeaway food was good quality but seriously bland. If you like it medium to hot I suggest you tell them.

Disappointed evening, table booked for 6pm .., the meal was rushed because there was a queue at the door ! Plates cleared before we’d finished… Chicken dishes very dry .. noisy and rushed , we were shown the door at 7:30 !! Definitely won’t be returning for sure .

Visiting the area and followed the rating, 4.6 is a top score. We had a takeaway and ordered online for collection at a specific time. Turned up 5 minutes early, was packed inside and clearly popular. Paid for the good in advance and took the last seat as someone collected theirs. Sat there for an hour, with at one point over 28 people waiting! For collections or to be seated. Clearly its reputation is high and the place to go but there must be a point when you just can't take any more orders. Learned from the locals that grabbed a pint while waiting thus is common. Just complain and it'll turn up sooner, hopefully was his response. Well, that aside, got the good. Sadly this wasn't anything to write home about, just lacked flavour and appeared to be unsurprisingly rushed. Very salty and tasted mostly of tomato thsn anything else. Review won't change the popularity of the place. Don't go Friday or Saturday evenings, service and food might be better other times.
