Spice Villa in South Somerset

Excellent food, delivered in around an hour, but we are a little way out of town, generous portions, lovely flavours, king prawn dishes especially were outstanding. Highly recommended and definitely best Indian restaurant in the area. 5 stars !

A visit to this restaurant is a must. The food is so delicious & tasty. Biriyani is my favourite & a dish that has to be tried. Look forward to visiting this place again in the future. 10/10.

I use Spice Villa regularly. As a vegetarian with coeliac disease. I am always very careful and I feel very safe ordering here. They know exactly which items are gluten-free (most of it) and haven't made me unwell. The food is always well cooked, and the portions are generous without being over the top.

From outta town Woking where we are spoiled for curry houses. Very impressed, extremely tasty and good value

We moved from Halifax in May so didn't know anything about the restaurants in Chard. Went for evening food with friends when they came to stay from Manchester and were of the opinion that the food was even better than the best we'd found "up north". Obviously freshly cooked and flavoursome, plenty of it and hot (temperature not spice). Plenty to choose from. The service was great even though there was only one waiter. The person we assumed was the chef came out at 100 miles an hour and in filthy clothes. Note to boss - if your chef is coming out to serve, make sure he's wearing clean clothes or provide an apron as it was a bit off putting. Overall a really good meal but not cheap. However we're of the opinion that you get what you pay for. PS. They serve alcohol even if the cider is in tins!

Be aware £20.00 minimum card purchase. Although, having ordered £14.99 food and informed of the minimum charge of £20.00, I cancelled my order and was then told it was ok. They’d accept my card payment of £14.99????!! Too late. We walked away. And enjoyed food at home with a little more effort. I’m ok with a minimum charge. But it shouldn’t be negotiable. As then it becomes profiteering. So sad as I enjoy the food.😒

9 of us dined including children youngest aged 2 years. They could have not done enough for us. Fab food and service would definitely go again if in the area. Lovely atmosphere and Staff brill 👍 food plentiful.

I went there with my family and the food was 10/10. Not just the food but also the service. I don't actually write reviews, but the Indian Restaurant simply blew my socks off. It was very fine and good food, so we were all able to go home full afterwards. It's really great there. And by the way, the waiting time on Google is really true. We had practically no waiting time. I can only recommend the Spie Villa, it is a great restaurant that is suitable for families and singles.

Don’t Goo‼️‼️, if you want to live some years. We came from London to visit the Cornwall attractions, my friends decided to have some luch on the way, this is the 5 start restaurant shown by google but we had no chice, Worst experience when we entered into the restaurant, (Cost is Like London and Food is like Birmingham). (Even you will get cheaper in London.)

Wow. The go-to curry house in the area. Top food. The Lamb Sag was 10/10 as was my Veg Vindaloos. The King Prawn Tandoori Masala actually had king prawns in it which sounds obvious but in England is rare. Well done.. the best food in Chard easily.

We were staying nearby in Bishopswood and the leaflet for this restaurant was in our Air BnB. We tried it out and we loved it. Great portions and tasted so lovely. Staff were lovely too when we went to order. We took it home to eat and everything was correct to the order. They even gave a freebie (we chose onion bhajis) as order came above £30 (I think that’s the rule!). Can’t fault it, and i’m kind of sad we don’t live down here haha! It was good, and i’ll miss it when we go home!

Our favourite Indian restaurant. Always beautifully cooked and prepared food, served by the lovely staff who welcome you like family. We are fortunate to have this restaurant in such a small town. Try the Garlic chicken chilli marsala or the vegetable Labra. A medium hot dish. Avoid Tuesday as the restaurant will be shut.

I went to Spice Villa with a group of work friends for a Friday dinner. It was a very nice evening. We enjoyed attentive service and the food was good quality. The naan I ordered was hot and fluffy. The spinach dish I had for my main had was made with good quality spinach. I really liked that they still use food warmers on the table so your food doesn’t go cold. Indian restaurants did that more in the past but you don’t see it as much now. I’m planning on going again.

Food average at best. Spent over £50 so got free popadoms but no dips which seems a little tight being menu says free bottle of wine. Delivery driver great

Food very expensive to the point of feeling robbed hence the review. The food was mediocre at best and quite bland, tables to close together and being constantly asked to move so staff could get by wasn't a highlight of the evening. An experience I won't be having again.

My partner and I came here on Thursday 21st December for a meal out to mark the end of a well needed holiday. Food was amazing, especially the garlic naan bread! Would definitely come here again if we visit Chard in the future. Very accommodating staff who let us have the banquet menu even though they do not usually serve this during the run up to Christmas! Highly recommend

Mostly go to this Asian restaurant for take away meals, but have had a Dinner once. A very friendly team who will customise the dishes. Very excellent food The spice balance is perfect and all items that we have had from the menu have been extremly good. The naan bread is perfect.

Decided to come here after Bath House was closed. Arrived just as they were opened. Ordered Tandoori prawns which were £8 and we expected 4, we got 2! In our opinion, very overpriced. We Ordered 2 special biryiani, with chicken, lamb, and "king prawns" what we got was a very tasty dish, however the "king prawns" were tiny frozen ones.. Speaking of dishonesty, we got the bill after eating and discovered that the chutneys which we had on our table when we arrived, are charged at £4! There was no mention of this - when I questioned this, the manager shouted from behind me, without facing me, "IT SAYS ON THE MENU!" So, basically if you touch the chutneys that in every other Indian restaurant are free, they charge you. Inthijk this is dishonest, and not forthcoming.

Freezing cold no heating on they said they had to keep cost down. Don’t sell any Indian bread at lunchtime. Curry was awful no flavour just seemed like tomato purée with meat. A jalfezi should be spicy with peppers! . Would never go there again.

New to the area, now eaten here 3 times in a week and just branched out and had the Shalley. Had medium which was the limit of my temperature with the lemon rice. It had honey and crispy potato stings on top a sour spicy red sauce. This is the nicest curry I've had and the taste was like a sensation from sweet to hot. Loved it, also had the Lamb Kashmiri a couple of time and has curried banana that's delicious. The Bombay potato was great, in short the food is really good, staff are friendly and the owner chatty and nice. My wife likes it as much as I do too so win, win.

Myself and my partner were staying in the area this weekend and thoroughly W joyed our meal. We were recommended this place by some locals and thought we would give it a try. Being people who very much enjoy a curry we were not sure what to expect from a small place out in rural Somerset and we were so surprised! We loved every mouthful and the prices were reasonable. Will definitely be going back when next in the area.

This is our go to place for curry when we are in the Chard area. Have only eaten in once but have had many Indian Take Away from here. Always very nice and lovely service.

Phoned for collection and was pushed to order more rice but refused. Meal was bland. Had passanda and korma which had the same tasting sauce! Would I go back…….. nope I would not.

I visited on a Sunday, which was the banquet night, £15.95 , for a starter, rice, main and a side dish. I enjoyed a very filling Sheekh kebab with salad and yoghurt sauce. A nice tarka Dahl side dish, pilau rice and an excellent chicken methi chicken. A 8/10. I requested tap water but it didn't come with ice and initially cutlery and a napkin was not supplied to my table. A tablecloth would be nice to add a touch of added class. Overall v. positive and friendly staff.

I visited on the Sunday Banquet night. The Sheekh kebab was full of flavour and was served with an accompanying yellow yoghurt sauce. The chicken tikha methi curry was very good, not too spicy but with a good consistency and flavour. The tarkha daal was also very good. At £15.95 all in, it was a substantial and very tasty meal. The service was attentive.

Ordered a couple of takeaways and the chicken tikka in the curries was thin slices of meat cooked with the gravy not chunks cooked in a tandoori like it should be. Spent £59 on food tonight and absolutely tasteless complete waste of money

Had 2 prawn curries. The prawns were obviously frozen and defrosted in the Microwave. They were so chewy they were horrible. Expensive nasty food that after trying ended up in the bin. Will not be ordering from them again!

Very tasty Indian right on Chard high street. Well presented and moorish, flavoursome curries and side dishes, tender well-cooked meat, fluffy chewy naans.. We had king prawn masala, chicken jalfrezi, mixed starter, naan popadoms etc. all really good - blew our other recent Indian meals out the water.
