Gracias por traer algo de brillo a la realidad lluviosa de diciembre afuera - de - puertas en una bicicleta en la ciudad de Londres. Por si eso no fuera suficiente, salí con una caja de peinados de la mejor barra de pasteles picados de toda la temporada para disfrutar con la familia. Sí, hay excelentes ofertas menos tradicionales en Popham Street, pero estas son excelentes. Hermosa pastelería dorada y carne picada ricamente de temporada. Incluso mejor que mis mejores esfuerzos. Punto final. Precio muy justo y razonable en estos días en que las cosas han crecido tan caro.

Sin embargo, en mis últimas tres o cuatro visitas, he notado una disminución en la frescura. St. John Bakery on Druid Street is a gem for anyone who appreciates fresh, quality pastries. I tried the almond croissant, and while it was a bit pricey at £4.50, it was absolutely delicious and worth every penny. The croissant was perfectly fresh, with a flaky, buttery exterior and a rich almond filling that made each bite a real treat. The bakery has a great selection of pastries, all of which look incredibly tempting, and it’s clear they use high-quality ingredients. If you’re in the area and looking for a satisfying pastry, I highly recommend stopping by St. John Bakery—you won’t be disappointed!

The doughnuts were good, but I had the worst attitude from the person in the till. I work in hospitality and I understand sometimes it's hard, but I don't understand why you have to be so cold with someone who asks you very nicely for a doughnut 🤷🏽‍♀️

Si no pudiera dar estrellas lo haría. Pedimos donuts de la calle. John para nuestra boda en Londres ya que son nuestros favoritos pero el mensajero que calle. John nos reservó y cobró por no tener la información correcta al entregar estos en nuestro lugar. Apareció diciendo que era pan para un nombre completamente diferente del que no tenían conocimiento, por lo que no aceptaron la entrega. En ningún momento el mensajero mostró la caja de 90 donuts al equipo, que habría sido muy claro como sabían esperarlos. Llegué a mi boda para que me dijeran que no habría desierto para nuestros invitados debido a esto que es increíblemente decepcionante. No se nos proporcionó información de seguimiento ni el número de teléfono en la entrega respondió el día. Nadie de la calle. John se puso en contacto con nosotros para explicarnos lo que pasó y después de mucha persecución obtuvimos una respuesta grosera explicando su opinión de que no era culpa suya y que eso es lo último que hemos escuchado. Después de haber trabajado en la hospitalidad y el servicio al cliente estoy sorprendido con este nivel de servicio de algún lugar con una gran reputación por sus restaurantes. Se lo hemos recomendado a amigos y les hemos comprado vales en el pasado, pero desafortunadamente no lo volveremos a hacer. Estamos increíblemente decepcionados y £ 300 de su bolsillo.

If I could give no stars I would. We ordered doughnuts from St. John for our wedding in London as they are our favourite but the courier which St. John booked and charged us for didn’t have the correct information when delivering these to our venue. He showed up saying it was bread for a completely different name which they had no knowledge of so they didn’t accept the delivery. At no point did the courier show the box of 90 doughnuts to the team which would have been very clear as they knew to expect them. I arrived at my wedding to be told there would be no desert for our guests because of this which is incredibly disappointing. No tracking information was provided to us nor was the phone number on the delivery answering on the day. No one from St. John contacted us to explain what happened and after much chasing we got a rude response explaining their opinion was it wasn’t their fault and that is the last we have heard. Having worked in hospitality and customer service I am shocked at this level of service from somewhere with such a great reputation for its restaurants. We have recommended it to friends and bought them vouchers in the past but we won’t be doing that again. We are incredibly disappointed and £300 out of pocket.

Delicious sandwiches. I really enjoy the cheddar and chutney but they are all delicious. The cheddar and chutney has the best cheese in london, neals yard cheddar, with Michelin star bread from St John. Just enjoy it.

Got the vanilla donut. It was absolutely lovely: fresh, moist, not greasy, excellent vanilla custard with good texture, good ratio dough/custard. Favourite donut in London.

Picked up an eccles cake while I was wandering past. The filling has been blitzed into a thick paste rather than mix up the currants with spices etc. which made it really heavy. This was so not worth £4.50 very disappointing. Can’t speak to what the other things they make are like

Little gem in the beer mile. The options are limited but the deliciousness is infinite. Cannot recommend the cinnamon knot enough. They don’t serve coffee but there is a coffee shop just around the corner.

Went today was not happy she forgot to give me one ice bun. I only ask for three things, and no one else was in the shop, so i dont understand how she could forget to give it to me,Costs over 7pounds very over priced and cakes didn't taste fresh regret going !!

Looks great but £3 for a pain au chocolat from a takeaway stall at the producer’s with no intermediary or shop costs (except obviously the staff present)? Can’t even sit in. Ridiculous

I recently tried a custard cream-filled doughnut here that was simply outstanding - easily one of the best I've had. This delightful experience guarantees I'll be revisiting soon. A must-try for doughnut lovers!

Delicious mince pies on Christmas Eve. Build like a pork pie with wonderfully Short pastry and generous amounts of mincemeat almost to the top. Highly recommend.

Looking for a bit of casual driving work over Xmas,checked out st john bakery, Unbelievably they were offering £11.50 to £12.00 an hour for NIGHT SHIFTS, Considering their prices its a disgrace,give em a miss or if you do go mention fair pay for staff. Work 10 hours for 4 donuts if your lucky!

Best pan au chocolat in the world

The doughnuts made by this bakery, wherever you buy them, have far too much jam in relation to dough. The one I have had had a really thin layer of dough around a bucket of jam. Totally wrong!

There was a nice where they were the best, that time is no more I'm afraid. Stale and dry madeleines. A sadness has descended upon this establishment.

It had been a while since I bought anything here... I had a vague memory of decent doughnuts and stale bread from years ago. A tiny doughnut is now £3.90. The taste is ok but I think it's now really overpriced.

I am afraid I have a very mixed view of the St John bakery on Druid street. I tried it for the first time and I purchased an almond croissant and a soda bread loaf. No complaints about the soda bread which was good quality and very tasty but the croissant was dry and was not so good. When you are paying St John prices you should expect fresh produce and on this occasion I was left very disappointed.

Get yourself a donut with the filling of your choice.

Take the opportunity to grab a doughnut before/during/after on the beer mile. Other pastries I’ve found can be a bit hit or miss but the team are friendly and you can pick up other St John wine etc whilst you’re there.

Tasty pastries, especially their donuts are impeccable! My favourite was vanilla doughnuts. They could be quite pricy but the vanilla donut won’t deceive you!

Interesting bakery under the arches on the Bermondsey beer mile near Hawkes. Really useful to visit to stock on munchies before you do some serious drinking. We purchased lovely raspberry and chocolate doughnuts plus an Eccles cake. These were excellent. Worth a visit if in the area.

I have been on a doughnut crawl recently trying to try every doughnut that I see. Clearly some are overpriced and not worth the hype and some are well worth paying. This time I tried the pistachio filled doughnut from St John bakery who are doughnut specialists according to their signage. The pistachio doughnut with a pricetag of 3.50 did not disappoint. Although the filling was so runny that it went everywhere, the pistachio was rich and aromatic while the quality of the doughnut itself was fantastic. I felt that the pistachio doughnut fared much better than bread ahead which lacked any pistachio flavour at all. Will definitely be coming back for their plain doughnut to see how it fares.

Unfortunately I found the bakes stale and tasteless. Vanilla doughnut didnt have much flavor even though it was dusted in sugar, the cinnamon bun was an odd one with a puff pastry top and brioche bottom, neither of which tasted of cinnamon :(

Great little bakery under the arches at Druid Street SE1. Always get a sourdough when I visit as they are the best around. They are also well known for their doughnuts and are worth a try too.

Stumbled upon this bakery while exploring Neal’s Yard in Covent Garden….and so glad I did. Cute little shop with lovely staff and amazing foods. Eccles cake was just the right sweetness and so fresh. The doughnuts are amazing! Worth treating yourself no matter what.

Like other reviews posted here, St John has always been our favourite place to eat but its bakery is not on the same standard. Felt utterly disappointed with how rude and impatient the staffs were when we asked about their products - even though the bakery was not busy at all.

Ahh, unfortunately many of you were right. I've visited this store at least 3 times and the quality isn't what we expect from St John everytime. I've tried their white sourdough and doughnuts (vanilla) which were alright. But their cinnamon bun was stale, dry and tasteless... This shop seems to be hit or miss.

Even though the restaurant is prob my favourite in London the bakery is not on the same standard. We live nearby and we shop bread there often. The bread is always dry and dull, probably not freshly made, needs to be grilled with olive oil to taste of anything. Pls look into it guys I’m sure you can do better.

We detoured to try these acclaimed doughnuts and we were disappointed with the outcome. I would rate them slightly better than a supermarket doughnut but having to pay a premium price. Ultimately, the doughnut was not fresh, I'd suspect it was made a day or two before sale.

The place to go back to, again and again....

Distinctly average because you can’t be sure that their bread is fresh. The last two times I bought their baguette they were stale. If, as they might claim, everything is baked overnight then they have a problem with quality control. I also mark them as average as their sourdough is good but their raisin bread is dry and tasteless-which I didn’t think was possible. I would, to be fair, say that both those loaves were freshly baked.

Bought some croissants and pains au chocolat this morning, they were completely stale as if baked a week ago. The brown sourdough bread was also a catastrophe, overbaked and hard as stone. Will not come back, there are much better bakeries in the area. Very disappointing.

‘The best’ hot cross buns (I’ve tried a lot!) in London and a great wine selection. Friendly and helpful staff too.

Really delicious doughnuts and baked bread. Regarding reviews pointing out stake products, I would take those with a pinch of salt. I'm sure it's possible, but the bakery is right in the air and open (in part due to covid) and my doughnut was particularly cold - I let.it thaw a bit once back home and it was fantastic.

Place looks lovely and we got nice bread a few times previously. Came back to buy a few pastries this morning - all of which were completely stale and tasted like yesterday's bakes. Disappointing! Wouldn't recommend coming here if you're looking for fresh pastries - far better options in the area.

The doughnuts are very good, especially vanilla and chocolate. I also tried the eccles cake which was the best one I ve ever eaten, with flaky sugary crust and buttery raisin inside. The breads are also very good and better than store bought bread.

Lovely bakery open on weekends. A good selection. So far I’ve been in the mornings there’s no long waits or queues. They can be a little bit on the pricey ££ side - but they do taste fresh! It’s always a nice weekend treat getting fresh pastries there and a nice coffee around the corner.

Well this is one of the best bakeries in London for sourdough. Many restaurants buy bread there, this is how I got to know this place. I just asked a restaurant where they were getting such amazing bread (yeah it's a big thing for French). OK took a star off for organisation. This is the second time I come based on Google opening hours and it's closed....

I really hope that I am writing about the right bakery ...anyway nice guy standing close to London bridge theatre just in front of Tower Bridge ..I dont know how many times you can find him but just taste a doughnut...especially the raspberry one. Delicious and not too expensive .

Bought some brown bread and rye bread last Saturday afternoon. Absolutely beautiful great flavour, smell and texture. I have also had their sourdough previously and would definitely recommend this also.

Started with crackling chips to dip into a Hp type sauce followed by Brill supposedly shallow fried witch was served cold and undercooked sent back and returned reheated and cooked a little more making it slightly palatable seating very uncomfortable had to stand up occasionally to be able to manage , Surprisingly the place was packed out fortunately will not be returning to London so will never have the pleasure again . Why is it getting so hard to find anywhere really good to eat any more .?

Just in the Uk for a couple of weeks. Many eating options in London. Had two meals at St John’s Bakery. Delicious and varied options on the menu board. Informal atmosphere and great selection of beer, cider and wine. The bread was amazing. Especially when spread with their baked bone marrow. Also surprised by how fabulous their deserts are. If you don’t mind the wait for a table and ordering your food at the bar, this is a must food experience to have when visiting London. Also good value.

Wish I could review the bakery. Everyone makes it sound so delicious. Unfortunately the website I found with their address was actually just for their baking facility way off the beaten path. We took a train, walked for another 30 mins just to find out there was no bread or donuts to reward us. Not blaming the establishment, probably a Google fail. We did find a small French bakery a block away that was open and nice enough to let me use their electricity to charge up my phone so I could walk back to the train station. Maybe the owners can add a note to the website so it's clear this address is not for public purchases

Very cozy bakery, amazing breads, they are very delicious and some good value wines to pick, service is a bit slow though.

This is something else, the donut was nothing like I’ve ever had before. I had a layover in London and I knew there was one place I needed to visit in my short time there. Boy did I use it wisely, certainly the very best donut I’ve ever had! at a pretty sweet price too, love it!

If you live within the M25, like doughnuts and have never heard of these, you my friend are living under a doughnut rock and Homer Simpson would not want to know you. I daresay this was the flare that went up about 6 or 7 years ago alerting artisanal doughnut makers to the red-hot market for awesome doughnuts that has resulted in a proliferation of places selling fancy doughnuts only. Which is all very well, but it is often the case that the original is the best or nearly. The custard doughnut here is ethereal. I say nearly only because the baker who gave birth to these moved off and set up his own place the far side of the borough market and is now turning out superlative doughnuts there also. And indeed teaching people how to make those epic doughnuts. But here's where it all began. I picked up a couple a month ago in the interests of quality assurance obviously and they are good.

We bought chocolate donuts and raspberry jam filled donuts from the Neal's Yard bakery location. They were outstanding! Good enough that we made a return trip to get more before we left London. Both times the staff members were friendly and helpful. I'm going to crave these donuts for life.

All good stuff but prices are steep, probably because it's just around the corner from Maltby Street Market. Nothing's labelled or priced, beware.

Complete rip off. £2.80 for a jam doughnut! Mine was genuinely no better than those found at Greggs. It's an added insult that this place is in the middle of nowhere, amidst a scruffy row of arches. Hence, no excuse regarding West End rents/rates etc. I guess the increasingly middle class trendy crowd, drawn to the local brewers' tours, are easily conned. Laughable.

I've eaten at the St. John Smithfield restaurant many times and have always been very impressed with both the food and the service so thought I'd make a trip to the bakery; I have to say I wish I didn't bother. The gentleman serving us seemed very disinterested and had his mind elsewhere, I felt like I was offending him by simply asking for some cakes. Everyone has an 'off-day' but I won't be back - I felt like my custom wasn't at all appreciated and was made to feel like an idiot. Very sad as I'm a big fan of Fergus Henderson and the food they do.

Had looked into the food locally to our stay and one of the places to eat was suggested as this bakery. All I can say is that the food is beyond good-the bakery is fantastic and I have to say THE BEST BABON SANDWICH you will ever eat. EVERYONE SHOULD VISIT

Nice coffee and selection of pastries and food all cooked on the premises. Try it on the weekend and the whole street turns into another borough market. If you're a food lover it's a must. Rope Walk. Try it out.

Had never heard of this place before and went unbiased with a relative for dinner. Tasty unpretentious food with lovely textures and strong but not dominant flavours. Confident service in an unfrilled environment.
