Work in progress. After being let go during Covid new owners have a grand master plan to reinvent the site. Give it six months and a lot of hard work should be able to challenge other nursery’s in the area. It’s not just a garden centre!

Drove there from Hastings only to find it totally closed and work starting to start refurbishment. Nothing on website to say this. People working there pleasant but we had to find somewhere else.

I love visiting this place very friendly and helpful staff and great cafe too. An alternative to the bigger corporate nurseries which are very costly and good to support independent businesses

I gained more information and knowledge about our prospective purchases than I ever would have done from a more commercial garden center. Molly Goodridge certainly knows her stuff. I will be returning there soon.

We have never used the train cafe before but we're pleasantly surprised. Staff were helpful, venue clean, food good value. Not much more you can ask!

Where can you go now a days and sit outside in tranquility and have an awesome roast with a marvellous big breakfast. Just let down by the staffs attitude, made to feel like it was a chore us being there and wanting to order or indeed receive a level of service. Could be something special but not yet!

My fiancé, our daughter and I stopped here one lunchtime on the way back from our camping trip. We wanted some new plants for our balcony at home. We spent quite some time looking around and coming across little hidden gems, an old bus, an old Carousel, the tram museum. A lovely gentleman showed us around the tram museum and told us about some of the history, he was so passionate about it all and was lovely to have been given the time to show us around and chat. We also stopped as we found the cafe, and had something to eat. It was a cute idea, and seemed from the off just like a traditional cafe when it came to the menu. Both my fiancé and I are gluten free and we were much surprised to find they could offer us this. We ended up going for a full English including toast, it was delicious and a very generous plateful. Our daughter had a toasted ham sandwich with real ham as she calls it, she devoured it so safe to say it was good! We sat outside as it was an incredibly hot day, unfortunately the umbrellas at the tables didn't work which would have helped keep us cool but we just popped our daughters hat on and some more sun cream and we were ok. The bathrooms were very nice and clean too, always a good sign and helpful when your sorting out a 3 year old! The staff in the garden centre were amazing, so much time for us and helped us to decide on our next set of plants, we came away with quite a few and are very happy with them. The staff at the cafe were also very helpful and friendly and we chatted with the chef for a bit too. The cost of the food was very reasonable and good value for money. We loved our little spontaneous adventure here and will be going back!

Visited the garden centre we decided to try the train cafe on site the staff were very friendly but very scruffy in appearance dirty jeans but it was very basic and could have used a woman's touch plastic table cloths bottles of sauces left by a window which made them warm. Average toasted sandwich very thin bread it could be a very interesting place if it had pictures relating to the trains perhaps some memorabilia relating to the trains would have been good to have a choice of cakes or cream teas. Overall it was a shame that more thought wasn't put into what could be a nice cafe.

Went for an impromptu lunch with my son. The service was ok, menu had a good choice , décor was ok but could be improved upon. My son ordered Pizza with chips, this took forever to be served, to our amazement we saw the cook walk across the car park with a supermarket pizza box under his arm pit, not a very professional look ! No appologie's for the wait or a warning that it could take so long. When my main course turned up it was ok but the attempt at the side salad was disgraceful, a five year old could of done better, it was just slapped on the plate, no finesse or nice ingredients or garnish just lettuce, cucumber and a tiny bit of tomato, clearly run by amateurs! We will not be going back.

Have been meaning to try here for ages. Finally got here, unfortunately on a very wet and windy day. However, we were all very impressed, everyone was so friendly. The food was lovely, very clean, and the plants looked lovely. Will definitely return. Hopefully on a sunnier day!

We had heard about the train café then decided to go look for ourselves. We had a lovely decaffeinated coffee, along with a very good panini. The service was good and very pleasant. Sorry I did not check out their closing time. Will do that next time we go. after the lunch snack we had a browse. And to our surprise found a lovely hairdresser so enthusiastic and she also does Energy therapy. For which I read recommendations. There are going to be a few more businesses in next door buildings, we were very impressed overall.

Impolite staff. Refused us to charge our phone. So we couldn’t use our e-card payment method.

The staff are so rude I was standing there waiting for my drink today and the lady behind the counter was moaning about living here and saying the water and the food are terrible. Quite loudly - how rude. If she doesn’t want to live and work I t his country perhaps she could give the job to my son who lives locally and would like a job. Disgusting behaviour Costa!!!!!

A Mixed Experience at The George Inn, Rye My girlfriend and I recently dined at The George Inn in Rye with my parents, and unfortunately, it proved to be a rather disappointing experience. While the historic charm of the inn itself is undeniable, the food fell far short of expectations. To start, my girlfriend ordered the leeks, which were disappointingly chewy. My mother's chicken dish was excessively sweet, lacking any savory balance. For our main courses, my parents both opted for the fish and chips, hoping for a classic pub staple. However, the fish was utterly bland and lacked any discernible flavor. I chose a cod stew, which, thankfully, was quite delicious. However, my side order of chips was inedible, overwhelmingly salty to the point of being unpleasant. The saving grace of our visit was the Guinness, which was undeniably excellent. Perhaps The George Inn is best suited for a casual drink, as their culinary offerings left much to be desired. Based on our experience, I would hesitate to recommend The George Inn for a meal. There are undoubtedly better options in Rye for those seeking a satisfying dining experience.
