Lovely location, small choice of drinks. Landlord is obnoxious when he's had a drink

Pub closed most of the time We've visited twice at lunchtime, including the Jubilee Bank Holiday and the pub has been CLOSED. Not good. We understand the place is sometimes open in the evenings. Shame as the pub is in a great scenic location. and the building has lots of character. No signage outside to say when the pub is open or any information about the pub. No mention of any food offerings. This place will CLOSE permanently with the attitude of the current owners!!!! To see how it's done properly...go to the nearby Raddle Inn!!!!

Visited this pub for the first time 14 years ago on a holiday at New Years Eve. Great local and friendly atmosphere and became our "go to" every new year for a good 9 years after. Made fabulous friends with the landlord and his wonderful lady and return frequently throughout the year, every year. Lovely, friendly atmosphere, good choice of bar drinks and drinks on draught. Also regular charitable events ran throughout the year. Love it here. Well worth a visit if passing through or a local, lovely warm welcome awaits.

Highly recommend. Booked a table for Sunday lunch. Good choice of food on the menu, Sunday roasts (choice of several) and other dishes such as ham, egg and chips and vegetarian options. Locally sourced food, Meakins mentioned on the menu. Staff were very welcoming and efficient, tables cleared quickly. Water offered on arrival for both us and our dog, which was great. Ordered gammon and chicken. Busy Sunday service so there was a little wait, but the place was busy. Log burner kept us warm. Food arrived on hot plates (always a good sign). Good selection of vegetables, fresh and well prepared, kitchen had this spot on. Not rushed at all, and staff efficiently cleared our table once we had finished. Nice mix of families, couples and people watching the football. Highly recommend.

When i'm on holiday and stay at my friends place i always "demand" them to make sure i have a Chow mein. If possible first day i arrive. Pearl Dragon is always were we order and there are never problems. We order on the phone, always served very friendly. Food is still warm although they are about 5 miles away. I have a prawn allergy and in all those years i never been ill. Sometimes we order at a silly hour of the day and we have to wait a little bit longer (our fault). Chow mein 🥰 ... i love it. We sometimes share : you see chicken balls / sweet & sour chicken with rice / chow mein and of course to top it all off some chips.

After watching Leek and Hyde play out a 1-1 draw in what can only be described as atrocious conditions, it was the thought of a kebab that kept us going. This is a really decent place - had a donner kebab on naan and chicken tikka on naan. Both really fresh and tasty and certainly hit the spot. Thanks very much 👍
