Personally would not go there again unless with a party of people and would definitely reserve a booth. Waitress service was very good.

Reservamos una mesa desde las 9 pm el sábado por la noche por 7 chicos, ya que era una despedida de soltero. He sido anteriormente allí una y estaba bien (hace 2 años). Llegamos y nos rechazaron porque éramos un grupo. Que es lo que hicimos, no de gestión disponibles y el portero eran en un viaje de poder, así que nos fuimos. Decepcionado y su pérdida, ya que es un timo de todos modos. Asegúrese de tener un respaldo lugar para ir! !

Visited for hen party. Ideal place for young hens but don't turn up too tipsy you will be asked by door staff to wait around outside for a while to sober up

Great service from ladies in their underwear. I've been here for social and business meet ups. It is far better geared for social entertaining! A lot of fun.

Básicamente fuimos allí para mi cumpleaños, amigos y tuvimos que esperar por la comida durante tanto tiempo. He pedido una hamburguesa Vegetariana sin setas y me trajeron la hamburguesa con setas. También tuvimos como 2 a 3 veces para las mismas cosas (como agua o sal, etc. La comida estaba caro) y gross, nada especial. Si quieres conseguir la mejor langosta en Londres, debería ir a "langosta" hamburguesa y. Los de seguridad eran tan groseros. 1 / 10!

I've been to this place twice. The first time wasn't a great experience as we booked a 'table' (by table I mean literally a small table in the middle of the dance floor - no chairs etc), and got told to have this table we needed to spend a large amount of money on drinks (it was either £200 or £500). It was very hard to manage this for a group of people and caused us a lot of hassle.However, last month my boyfriend and I booked dinner there; it was a totally different experience. The food was amazing (I recommend Mac and cheese), the cocktails are good (very expensive if you don't buy during happy hour though). My personal fav is the million dollar shake, however they like to put a lot of ice in the drinks! In regards to food & drinks I would rate this a 4, but for a club maybe a 2-3!

Came here for dinner on a Tues as I have a discount card through my work (50% off the total bill) so actually quite a good discount to be honest. I had the burger and fries, fries were good and I was asked how I wanted the burger cooked. It was nice and packed full of onions, relish, gherkins etc. Only thing that let this place down was the waitress - she was lovely but she did not leave us alone, kept coming back even when we were eating (twice!). Not sure why they were in a rush to get us out either as the place was not busy.

Just ok, nothing more than that. Doubt will go again, better standard of restaurants in the area to frequent. Service was fine and food was served promptly, unimpressed with the quality of the food, price a tad on the high side. Average.

Expensive, poor quality food. Cold burgers that were all served at different times - my friends finally got their dinner when everyone else had finished! The bar is good fun but eat elsewhere beforehand as food is not good. Also very disappointed to see bold displays of taxidermy around the dining room - stuffed dead animals should not be used as room decoration! Poor taste and frankly unethical.

Just came home from a lovely birthday dinner there so much fun. Would like to thank our host Alona for her great service and making my birthday extra special. The staff were very polite and friendly. The food was also nice as I love American food. The prices were reasonable for both food and drink. The cocktails were one of the best cocktails I've ever drank and were well presented. Loved that there was a bull to ride there. Would defo recommend steam & rye as its somewhere different to both dine and experience great entertainment. Thank you very much will defo come again!!!

Paying £10 to get in on a Saturday is expected in London (but still annoying) but I do expect a place to be good for that price. Having nothing on tap by 11:30pm and charging £6 for a bottle of beer is ridiculous.

Very good night out with the team, drinks are literally diabetes on ice!!Dinner was good yet I ordered 1kg of ribs but it came out not more than 500g but not enough to ruin the experience

Had an amazing night on the weekend at Steam and Rye. This wasn't my first visit and won't be my last. It's a fantastic venue with extremely hospitable and attentive staff. The drinks are second to none with the attention to detail being outstanding. My personal favourite is the Abraham Lincoln. I can't thank the staff enough and look forward to visiting again soon.

My girlfriend and I were invited to one of our friends' birthday party at the Steam and Rye. From the entrance, the staff is welcoming and friendly, but this being very polite in the same time.Good service, great venue and great atmosphere. We really had a good time here.The Steam and Rye also offers a large variety of cool cocktails. The prices are more than fair.Definitely a great place for partying.

Great venue with a cool 1920s theme. We'd booked a table downstairs last night and ended up sticking around for hours. Great selection of cocktails, and equally impressive service (thank you Amy and Lewis).

I suppose it's a given in this part of London, but I found Steam and Rye slightly over-priced for what they were offering. Although in saying this, I thoroughly enjoyed the food (I had the veggie burger and a side of mac & cheese), and the cocktails were fun and gimmicy. A fun place to come with friends and makes a nice change from some of the other restaurants and bars that are slowly saturating London, just make sure you're prepared to part with your pennies!

An American themed restaurant turn bar, the atmosphere is buzzy alongside regular live music in the evening, ok for a few drinks.

I think it's only fair to leave a review about our experience last night. I was a little nervous when we reading the reviews about the customer service and overall quality. But it was booked! So we we went... and no regrets at all! We were welcomed the second we came through the door, everyone was Uber polite and attentive. The food was good, standard London quality: nothing overly amazing but for a set £20 menu we were all happy! Cocktails were amazing! Honestly every time we ordered another we were just in awe! Live band were great.. would actually like their details for my wedding! Only thing I would maybe say... more variety of desserts on the dames set menu. Thanks for a brilliant night! We will be back! Had lunch in this very basic restaurant who must rely entirely on their evening trade, as restaurant was empty. They employ staff outside for whole of lunch time to ask if you have booking, which is obviously not necessary and then sit everyone on top of each other. The service is still poor, particularly by the one male waiter, who has absolutely no idea of customer service. Whilst a lady waitress was going to get sauces for table he stopped her for chat , after several.... minutes I left my seat and asked if he could show me where they were as I would get myself, he insisted he would get, but just called our server out the back of restaurant to carry on conversation, eventually they arrived after around 10 minutes by which time food was cold, so had to change, thios was entirely down to this one individuals lack of customer training

We had a table booked for Saturday 25th for my cousins birthday - we booked in the restaurant upstairs as it was a family birthday and my cousin had paid the deposit.....upon arrival there was a queue to gain entry we politely asked the bouncer at the door do we still need to queue as we have a booking in the restaurant - to which he replied very rudely and aggressively 'yes'- calm down we only asked ! Firstly why wouldn't you have a separate queue for the restaurant and bar as people with a bookings in the restaurant should be let in !! Then I advised the gentleman that I was 8 months pregnant which was plain to see so I can't stand for too long - again he was so rude ! He replied 'oh queue up it will be 5 minutes' !! That is a long amount of time when you are heavily pregnant to stand ! I would like to know is it customary for bouncers to totally ignore he fact I was pregnant and to allow a heavily pregnant woman to stand in a queue for 15mins !! It wasn't 5 mins and even so priority should have been given to even let me through with a booking to sit down ! Another party (for the bar) was arguing with the front of house staff / bouncers for ages before we were allowed in- surely they should've been pulled to one side and others with actual bookings allowed in ! The other bouncers once they noticed I was pregnant were very attentive - I must stress it was the bouncer with hair who was extremely rude to us all ! By the time we got in my feet were so swollen I barley made it up the stairs - being pregnant does not mean you can't go out and I cannot understand why the bouncer were so rude and inattentive, I would like to know what policies are in place for pregnant women -it's not easy carrying an extra 2 stone ! The food and inside staff were amazing - even the waitress made a note I was pregnant on my order without me saying anything and was excellent. It's a shame that this particular bouncer was so rude to me - it is a shame the bouncers were so rude and ruined out night.

We went there on an Wednesday for happy hour... amazing cocktails and quick service. The barman that has served us, Colin I believe, really knows what is he doing and he was amazing skills!!!!Would definitely recommend and come back!

We went here for a friends 30th Birthday - there was 10 of us in total. Once we were shown to our table it was time to order in the cocktails - They worked out about £10-£15 each. Looked amazing and tasted really nice. The service for drinks was really quick. Starters came out and everyone seem pretty happy. Few issues with main course - one was sent back as there burger was burnt - it then came back and looked even worse !!! The bill was £660 between ten of us which I felt was pretty expensive. Overall good service, food wasn't to bad either - let down by the price !!!

I went there with 20 of my friends to celebrate my birthday. We had great fun but the service was catastrophic! A few exemples among many others: They did not have my reservation, we had too wait for 45 minutes before they bring our drinks which were pre-ordered! I even had to go and get some glasses for my guests as they were so slow in the service. Cherry on the cake, the gave us the bill while everyone was dancing instead of doing it while everyone was sitting... They almost ruined my party but they are lucky the live band, the DJ and the shows were great!

Lively bar with tasty cockails. Steak was delicious.Ideal venue for after work drinks! There were special discounts available when we went, which entitled us to select various sized meats from a board - recommend this.

I visited here with my girlfriend after a recommendation from my younger brother, the venue is very close to Liverpool Street Station, the interior of the building was a play on an American style 80's bar, staff were friendly and helpful in the recommendations of food and cocktails, 5pm is when happy starts for several hours. The cocktails were awesome very strong and sweet. They were each served up in different funky glasses, one is served in a Pop Corn holder. I would visit here again and recommend it to anyone.

First time visit to Steam and Rye after wanting to try it for ages, couldn't have been a better place to go for our Valentines meal! We were seated at our table straight away upon arrival, the decor was beautiful for valentines and I loved the low level lighting. Staff very welcoming and friendly the whole evening. We had wine, beer and I had the Abraham Lincoln cocktail which was lovely, saw other cocktails go by which also looked amazing, would definitely go back to try more! I had the BBQ ribs, ordered chips as side, absolutely incredible quality food and HUGE portion so worth the money, partner had the sirloin which he also thoroughly enjoyed. We had brownie for dessert & I had the strawberry sorbet done, really nice touch to have a dessert like this. Few people rode the Bull which was funny to watch whilst dining on the evening. We stayed for about 2 hours in total for our meal/drinks and were not rushed at all. I would recommend Steam and Rye to anyone and would love to go back again soon to try more on the menu!

We went to Steam & Rye for a friend's birthday dinner earlier this month. I initially thought the private 'clocks' room at the back of the venue was okay but my friend hated it - and was not informed her party would be elsewhere, like private dining. After waiting a while to be offered drinks, pretty soon we all felt like we had been 'shoved in the cupboard', dumped at the back with poor candle lighting and different music playing in the speakers, so we had no atmosphere coming through from the main area. After my friend questioned the set-up, the maitre-d' just brushed her with a snappy response that an email had been sent to inform her about the separate room, to which she replied 'No, there was nothing', but he'd walked away by then. Then another table of people were put in the room with us so we couldn't even have the space to ourselves, it felt a little awkward to say the least. When the drinks we'd ordered eventually arrived, they were pleasant cocktails, yet at £9-12 each they seemed a bit overpriced.After our initial words with the management, we were hastily given some vouchers for 50% drinks, but realised this was only mid-week and on a 'girls-only night', so not really useful. The pre-ordered food came out after waiting a while - then we were confused about the sharing platter starter as only two platters had been provided with a few finger-bites bowls (and only 3 pieces of corn bread) - for our table of 13 people. After asking the waiter, we were told each platter was for 5 people to share. We couldn't believe it and complained that the portions were measly (portion would be for one person in some restaurants). They reluctantly apologised, then after 20 minutes or so, we were surprised to see them bring out several extra individual starter dishes (these were nice but we just wanted an extra platter at the time - after waiting so long we were starting to lose our appetites).Then for the main course, a few had ordered steak - we were expecting the waiter to ask how we wanted the steak cooked - but nothing - and then the food arrived, cooked to a ('default' as the waiter called it) medium. There was no chance to request how the steak should be cooked, which was very disappointing and by now we were quite frustrated. The steak was not even cooked well because as it was cut, the parts that were more well done could be noticed as going further through the meat. The veggie burger was actually very nice but I did not have much appetite to finish the meal by that point.When it came to paying for the meal, one of us had flagged that we were being charged for an extra person despite cancelling well in advance. When querying this, we were told as we cancelled within the last hour before the booking, we would be charged for this place - which was not acceptable as we were not told this - only that cancellations of entire bookings should be given 24 hours in advance, not individuals.After our experience, we were not happy to pay for the service charge - or for the extra person - and the waiter was arguing with us for 10 minutes before getting the manager. When the manager came out, she was very pleasant and took off the service charge and the amount for the additional person.For us, the meal could have been more of a pleasant experience and I'm sure some have had a wonderful time at Steam & Rye. We would have stayed on there further into the evening as the main dancefloor seemed fun (although extremely tightly packed), which was a shame. The venue itself was smart and classy and the staff were friendly. I won't be going back in a hurry, certainly not for a large birthday meal, - oh, and probably not for the half priced girls-only night drinks.Maybe they were just having an 'off' night...

What an interesting place! Interior is not what I expected...cocktails are exciting and different. Wouldn't recommend the pork scratching bar snacks...(bit salty) Was a pleasant hour on our pub crawl!!

We heard of this place and decided to give it a go. The food was nice and the drinks even better, I absolutely recommend the South side fizz and Juan Direction. Our waitress Maria convinced us to try desserts after a quite filling meal and the Chocolate brownie was a decision we do not regret. The place in general is alright, I heard there were dancers but we didn`t get to see them and the band wasn`t great but the DJ was on fire!

Steam and Rye located on Leandenhall Street in the city of London is a shabby set-up, which is covered up by a theatrical facade misleading customers!!!With a "specific" clientele from hen do's and that sort - it's overly optimistic and ambitious.From its conflicting interior to varying staff members it's quite basic and deflating. The tables wobble there is a lingering stench and the lights are odd along with the sound system damaged.customers who by bottles get no priority to tables, which is absurd?!On another note quite awful and off putting the toilet attendants are perverse and forceful for tips - one only just opened the cubicle door when a party member was in there using it - the attendant was completely aware of this. Absolutely disgusting behaviour potentially boarding sexual harassment!!!Music is shocking considering the location, the layout is confusing and a lot isn't done to attract decent customers, it's more of a side ally bar. There's not much to say to be honest save your money and dignity Go to Sushi Samba instead, which isn't too far. Awful place.

I really enjoyed my evening here! Came for dinner with a friend, the food was amazing and the cocktails were really good too. The best thing about the place is the atmosphere! It's got a great vibe, I will definitely be back :)

I can't really write a review on the service, food, drinks or atmosphere as we were not even allowed into the location due to their not being enough females in our group. We were celebrating a friend’s birthday who had reserved a table/booth inside. After having dinner at the Gherkin, as a group, we were all prepared to have a great time and I would imagine, spend quite a bit of money during the evening. Upon arriving, the first question we were asked is "How many girls are you with?" ... as a group of 4 girls and around 14 guys, clearly this was not the image Steam and Rye wanted to portray and refused us entry. In 2017, I cannot quite believe that this level of chauvinist attitude still exists and needless to say, I will not be coming back in the future nor recommending your establishment to anyone else! Hopefully you will re-consider your rules of not letting people into your bar based on their gender – it’s disgusting!

My sister, friend and I visited this venue for the first time last night and what a night. The staff were impeccable, friendly, accommodating and very caring. I am a 56 year old and would not normally go clubbing, not because I don't like to dance, it's just because most places are only interested in the younger generation. This venue had it all no matter what age you are. The atmosphere was easy, fun and friendly. The food was lovely, tasty & reasonably priced for London prices. The cocktails were amazing, they are a must. One thing I loved about this place was everything you would want in a night was under one roof, food, live band, DJ (great music) and dancing. This venue catered for everyone no matter what age. For me this venue was definitely 10 out of 10 and we will definitely go again.

We visited Steam & Rye for the first time for my friends birthday dinner last Thursday. From the minute we walked in, the staff was accommodating and helpful. The ribs were amazing and popcorn shrimps to die for. They had a great variety of salads for those looking for a healthier dining option, too. We did not drink alcohol on the night, so a wide selection of mocktails came in handy. Will definitely be coming back.

I went with couple of friends to have some ribs and we had the best time, we got a booth and ate as many ribs and shrimp as we could, our waitress Maria was fast and really funny. The bull was the highlight of my night.

I had a fantastic night at Steam and Rye for a friends birthday celebrations. The music was perfect to dance all night to and the atmosphere was just what you crave for a fun filled Saturday night. We have already planned another night out here next month and would highly recommend Steam and Rye to anyone who loves dancing the night away! The bar staff and table waitresses delivered a consistently great service throughout the night

Interesting set up, caters to all your groups needs. Hostesses really looked after us. I would definitely recommend for a birthday night out.

Had a great night last night was out with a friend headed in for a drink only meant to stay for one ended up enjoying it so much we stayed for hours a manager came up to make sure we were having a great night and enjoying ourselves don't remember his name but he had a bit of a pony tail going on it was a nice touch for someone to approach us to make sure we were having a great night defiantly will be back as he told us about the mercanical bull on Tuesday's which sounds really fun

I went for a post work meal and had the all you can eat shrimp on Tuesday they were perfectly salted and moorish I couldn't stop ordering top ups. After dinner we stayed for some cocktails I tried the Sazerac and my friend had a Monica Lewinksy perfect after dinner drinks. Then we rode the bull which was a lot of fun and free! All in all a great night we will definately be going back next time I want to tackle the all you can eat Ribs!

Such a fun night out! Great on the weekend, as it's packed. Amazing live music and cocktails in a sharks head, what more could you want? I'll be going again!

We booked a table for 5 of us to celebrate my friends new job. Two of us ordered the chicken and avocado salad. We were horrified with what we received. My friends chicken was pink and undercooked, this was confirmed by the waitress who apologised for this and informed us they had a new chef. My chicken contained a bone!!! A bone in chicken and avocado salad - I couldn't believe this. The waitress returned both our dishes and as you can imagine we were totally put off eating. Our two meals were rightly taken off the bill and we were given one bottle of wine to say sorry. I'm shocked as this could really have harmed a customers.I am disappointed as this was my first time in the restaurant / bar and I didn't get the service or experience that I had expected.

The team and I visited Steam & Rye in December for our Christmas meal and I was really impressed with the whole experience. Booking was quick and simple and the set menu was varied and great value for money. Upon arrival we were shown up to the Cargo room which was a really cool, smaller room with only a few other people in there. Service was great! Had drinks brought out straight away and the hostess kept topping up the Prosecco! We all shared some sliders as starters and they were amazing, so tasty and loads of them so no one went hungry. After our meal one of the managers came over to tell us she'd reserved a table in the main bar should we want some more drinks - so we stayed for cocktails and dancing as the bar started to fill up. Overall I was impressed by the attentive service, the tasty food and the themed cocktails.

Booked a Table on 19/11/16 for 6pm and very disappointed, we where put in a room with 2 big tables that were celebrating a birthday and something else. The lady who took our order forgot my drink and we then got out food which was disgusting, the batter on the onion rings where to thick and wernt cooked properly. The mac and cheese was pretty much cold. We didn't get checked on once and I had to ask for my onion rings as they forgot to bring them out. I had to also ask for my drink, I will not be going back there at all and I will not be recommending it to anyone that I know, just can't believe how bad the service was. They were Fixed on the 2 big tables forgot about us all evening, I couldn't wait to get out. Very upset at how we were treated.

What a great night the music and the party had a great vybe and was off the hook. The drinks were amazing and the staff were really friendly. Definerly recommend to anyone who is looking for a good night out.

I think that's the last time I'll go to Steam and Rye - it really hasn't kept up to the standards it had when it launched. Overall i suspect it hasn't been as successful as hoped so they are cutting costs (or it feels like it at least). There's quite a few things to cover off so bear with me.The food really isn't as good as it was - not sure what's gone on here but the portions appear smaller and the ingredients not as good. To add insult to injury they were running a promo for half price steaks, but they'd sold out of most of the steaks that were on offer....bearing in mind that we were there at about 18:30 it's not down to demand on the night. I seem to remember the same thing last year applied to all their steaks on the menu, not a special list.The atmosphere is pretty crap now as well. I know January isn't exactly going to be thriving but I went there in the christmas party season last year and it was just the same. There's no longer the fun vibe, the dancing girls and the plentiful hostesses (one of the charms before was that there was tonnes of staff). They also have a real problem with the door staff - my group arrived at different times in a half hour patch, and apart from me they all got hassle (even though we had a reservation). And as we'd gotten there earlier than our reservation it was suggested they go elsewhere for a drink first (as opposed to the bar....) REALLY strange. You'd think they'd want the custom.The drinks weren't great either and they are staggeringly expensive considering it's not a full pint (but is definitely charged at £5-6) - the cocktails are pretty good and fun...but the thing is....you could to Be @ One for better made ones that cost less (or pay the same and go to one of the many better cocktail bars).With all that in mind I don't think I could ever recommend going there any more - it actually feels worse than the Vodka Revs on Clapham Common. That's going some.P.S. There's also a super aggressive bog troll. Bearing in mind not many people carry cash as much these days it's little wonder you haven't got anything to give him. And anyway, I know how to turn a tap on, get soap from the dispenser and dry my hands. Please Steam and Rye, if you changed just one thing can you get rid of them?

So it started with a rude bouncer, questioning my booking and demanding proof I was who I said I was. The atmosphere has gone, the food was terrible (medium rare came as well done, no flavour either ). Seriously used to love this bar, but the vibe has gone, food is terrible and staff are borderline incompetent. Sad times all round

My girlfriend arranged a surprise birthday party for me at Steam and Rye. I was totally oblivious when we turned up as my girlfriend spoke to the staff at the front who said "table for 2", and then went off to check that our table was ready.He returned shortly afterwards and walked us to the clockroom, which is where all my closest friends and family were waiting with the surprise. The staff were brilliant with how they played along, and let everyone in the room know that I had just arrived, so they could surprise me as I entered the private room. The service for dinner was excellent, drinks were flowing and the food was top notch. The staff made an effort to come and wish me a happy birthday which made all the difference in my eyes.After dinner, we had a booth in the main room booked, where we had pre ordered drinks served. Again, this went smoothly and the waiters and waitresses were magnificent.We had an incident where someone dropped a glass and it splashed into my girlfriends eye, with what we suspected was with some glass. The staff acted fast and made sure she was safe and had no glass in her eye. Again, fantastic service.All in all, I had a birthday to remember and cant speak highly of the place.Thinking of going again for another birthday soon.Rohin

Met up with some friends after work, for a drink, had not booked anywhere for dinner and decided last minute to try Steam and Rye. Called up to see if they have any space for 5 people, and we were given a reservation for a booth in the main room only 45 minutes later. The food and drinks were great, some of the cocktails may be a little overpriced for what they are, but they are unique and worth the visit. I would recommend the USDA Beef Burger, and the 'Juan Direction' cocktails. Cant wait for my next visit

Was very excited to be going here last weekend but unfortunately It did not live up to expectations. First we tried calling to let them know we were running behind due to trains, 4 calls later and nothing. We were then told to wait in the line outside even though we booked, then got put into a small little room which can only be described as a classroom. 2 chairs we had were broken, we ordered our food and I changed my meal to add something from the side dishes, they brought out both, however the food was lovely. We ordered 3 cocktails and they brought out the wrong one.When we told them, we had to wait 20 minutes for the correct cocktail to come over. There was a completely broken toilet seat in the ladies also and with only 2 toilets you had no choice but to use it.Finally the bill arrives and they charged us for the whole meal instead of swapping my side dish AND the cocktail that was incorrect. They also included a service charge which we felt was unfair to pay due to the service we received .The actual bar area is very lively and fun but unfortunately we did not get to sit out in the front or enjoy ourselves.Never again.

I was really looking forward to checking this place out and booked a table for 6pm for dinner and drinks, we got a 50% off cocktails offer with our meal. First impressions count, we were ID'd by polite bouncers as we walked in however when we got to the front desk I could not believe how blunt, abrupt and rude these women were. I felt I was causing them an inconvenience by simply being there - both I and my partner thought it was very odd and somewhat laughable, I work within the luxury events industry & we have dined and stayed in some of the finest restaurants and hotels around the world and have never experienced service so pretentious. We had a drink in the main room whilst we waited for our table and the barman was very polite and gave us great service which slightly redeemed the abruptness at the front desk. We then went upstairs for our meal to the taxidermy room where we were the only table for quite a while!! This didn't bother me, but the fact that it took 35 minutes to order a drink (with the waiter in the same room) did. Our waiter was very helpful and very polite but the service was absolutely terrible. I wanted to take advantage of the 50% offer I had and was planning on trying all of the drinks but after waiting 35 minutes to be served for my first cocktail I just wanted to get out of there - the food was not too bad, but we came primarily for the cocktails, we didn't pay the service charge and expressed our dissatisfaction. We left and went to The Alchemist (7 min walk away, highly recommended) instead where we paid full price for the funky cocktails and were very satisfied! I will never eat at Steam & Rye ever again and doubt I will return for much else, poor poor poor.

No complaints. The food and drinks are both typical city quality! Easy night out if you work/are out in the area.

Went here with a group of guys for a birthday. Arrived having booked a table in advance with a minimum spend and table service .First issue was the Security prat with the huge nose at the door. He sized everyone up and when told we had a table he still was still not sure he wanted to let us in. He was not interested and kept asking how many girls are coming! What difference does this make? What happens if a group of gay lads turn up? He then said "yes you are fine to go in" once he was told some girls are arriving later which they were not. I guess it made him feel like the big man allowing us into the venue with his approval. Cocktails list was fantastic. Happy hour was 5-8 which means cocktails are around £6 each. A pint of Budweiser will also cost you £6. Although I'm not so sure they are pints. The glasses look tiny. The music is good and the vibe very lively and happy. I would recommend this place but it may be easier if you are a group of lads to go in pairs and avoid annoying Pinocchio

American themed bar. Amazing venue, great music and live band. Band played covers of classic songs, with their own twist. The drinks menu is great....I've posted a picture of it before. Had an excellent night here!

We went in on a Friday early in the evening for a cocktail or 2. We were surprised to be charged £5 to get in, but having heard good things about it we paid it. Firstly, due to a number of Christmas party bookings we were not allowed to sit anywhere, and it seemed everywhere we tried to stand we were ushered away despite there being no-one there at that time. The cocktail was okay but pretty poor value for the price considering it didnt contain much alcohol. There was a nice bouncer who explained politely that we needed a booking for the seat. However, the attitude of the rest of the staff left a lot to be desired- we kept being told to not stand in places or move like we were children. We were 3 sober, professional people and to be talked to like that in a place you've paid for the pleasure to be in is outrageous. Thankfully they did give us a refund for the door fee when we asked, but the manager was not very apologetic about our experience. Will not be returning.

A fantastic evening of fun! The cocktails were delicious and atmosphere was great. I love the fact that they have a live band which makes the evening more interesting along with table dancers and glitter shooting out of the sky (glitter makes everything better). All the staff were extremely entertaining and helpful. Would definitely go again as I need to try out their food next time.

I'd like to personally thank Amy Tanner for looking after my company so well. She organised everything perfectly. We all had a really good time. Drinks flowing all night. We ordered canapés and they were lovely. Great atmosphere & great fun. Thank you.

I've visited Steam and Rye on two separate occasions and I can safely say I will never go back. Steam and Rye is very over hyped.I will say the cocktails are very good and there is a great menu to choose from however that is it. The girls on the door are stuck up. For whatever reason I don't know your paid to stand outside on the street. Get over yourself. The music in the main area is soooooo loud you cannot possible enjoy a meal with friends as you can barely hear each other.I'm only 23 and love a night out even I thought the music was too loud. Unless you have a table booked you will be standing waiting to be served at the bar the whole night. The food is nothing special, not much else I can say on it really. The bar they have downstairs which is themed on a train carriage or something is dark and dingy.Those stupid tiny spiral stairs they have are absolute nightmare. Good luck trying to get down them when people are walking up.Go somewhere else if your looking for drinks/dinner.First time visiting thought was okay, second time confirmed I shall never bother again.

Went back to give this place a second chance flowing first catastrophic visit.Food as expected. Service was better than the first time but still a "forced" service. Staff were trying to hard. The worst thing is that the bill was incorrect and we were overchargedWent for the deal £15 for 2 courses however the bill including the drinks was added up very unclearly and in the end we were overcharged by £2/3 each ( 4 people) as soon as the bill arrived we said to the waiter it was too much and sent it back but after a few minutes he confimed it was right. However we calculated and found out it did not add up, we told the waiter but he has already processed payments.Certainly not giving this place a 3rd chance!

A really nice, historic building. Great music, just enough crowd and good security really overlooking the crowd to watch for troublemakers. Yet a few people think they can do whatever and still security didn't feel interrupting.

I came to dinner on Saturday night as a group of 8 people for a booking at 8pm. There were a number of issues occurred throughout the evening.We arrived slightly late due to traffic (10 minutes), there's no number to call to let you know we were slightly delayed! We arrived and was told the table wasn't ready and to go into the bar and wait. Our coats weren't taken from us, just ushered straight into the room. We were seated at around 8:30pm into the first booth on the right. Our waitress told us they have another booking at 10pm but as they didn't seat us on time we have slightly longer - Rightly so as when asked why we had to wait the waitress said the party before us overran!8 of us were around the booth, certainly not big enough for 8 adults, 2 of us were on the corners of the table! There was then the awful smell of cheese which lingered all night, it was dreadful. We asked a number of times to be moved but the waitress couldn't accommodate us anywhere else, she instead came over with some lemon wet wipes for the table as they 'had a nice smell'! We finally ordered our food, mac & cheese starter was the worst I've ever had, it was like a cheese soup. It came to ordering our mains and at that point were told they don't have any more rib-eye steak. We switched our order to a different steak. The orders arrived and I had the worst piece of sirloin steak I've ever had to taste, it was like eating rubber. I couldn't eat it, offered it to my boyfriend who also couldn't eat it - It was that bad! We had so much left over food through lack of quality that a few of the group took it home for their dogs! The waitress came over to clear our mains and at the same time told us we cannot see the dessert menu as we've run out of time on the table and she will instead bring us the bill! Whilst waiting to pay the £400 bill our table was surrounded by the party on the booth next to us (assuming they had paid for 2 booths) drinking and partying whilst we were still finishing up.It was honestly the worst experience I've had in a London restaurant, overpriced and underwhelmed at the very least and thought you should know my review on our ordeal.

Lovely dinner and cocktails for our girly Christmas drinks had a lovely waitress called Valerie who was happy to help with everything we requested even with how picky we are, will defo be coming back!

Food, drinks and service was completely overrated. Booked a dinning table for a colleagues birthday, the waiter decided to inform us with no warning that we where to late to order a main course and that the next party will be arriving in 45 minutes.service was shocking, the band where not mic'd up correctly so just sounded loud and as if they where playing inside a pringle pot.They had waitresses dancing on a podium, it was like butlins entertainment on a much worse scale.Wont be going back very pricey for average coleslaw, average chips, average ribs and average wings. (starter share platter)Give it a miss, and make sure you go to Dinerama street feast, much better food atmosphere and much more more edgy if you in to that sort of thing.

A friend was really keen to try this place, so we swung by for cocktails early yesterday evening. I wish we hadn't.As soon as we encountered the surly doorman I was already ready to go somewhere different - there are plenty of decent options nearby - but my friend insisted so we carried on. However, the service didn't improve inside. Furthermore, the drinks are horribly overpriced and poorly made. We stayed long enough to finish our drinks and bid a hasty retreat to somewhere with a bit more class and personality. Do yourself a favour and go somewhere - anywhere! - else.

Not sure about the music as the band weren't great - mostly due to sound issues but I could have done without them. The drinks were fantastic and the venue is beautiful. Advised to book so you get a table and take advantage of the happy hour!

My partner and his best friend shared a birthday night out on Saturday at Steam & Rye. We booked a table with drinks (2 bottles of champagne, a bottle of vodka and 2 fish bowls of cocktails) for £1,000. The table was supposed to be for 25 people but there was only enough seating for 8 (at a push). The area to dance was no bigger than a cupboard and the staff that we spoke with were extremely rude.When we arrived, just shy of half 10 for the table, we were greeted by a bouncer that was beyond rude. He was suggestive toward one of the girls we were with, spoke to the men in our group with such disrespect and insisted on having to confiscate our ID, when I questioned this and said I wasn't happy giving over my driving licence, he said 'you know where to go then...'. I asked for his name and he said it was Sam, he wore a top knot in his hair. The table had been booked about a month in advance and one of the girls that organised it, had been in regular contact with Steam & Rye to make sure everything was properly organised and when we got there, it was an absolute shambles. We were told to wait in the reception area for our table, we waited 10 minutes and were seen to the area. When we got there, the table was occupied by a group of women that had only just ordered a drink. We were stood right next to the table (25 of us in a very cramped space with no drinks) for a good 20 minutes before anybody sorted our table out.The cloakroom is £2 per item (even if it's on the same hanger). I went back to the cloakroom twice during the evening, once to get my phone and the other time to get flats. The gentleman in the cloak room shouted at me and waved his hands at me and told me I can't come back for stuff. I replied with, I paid £6 to leave my stuff here, I can come and get my stuff as and when I please. When we left, I asked my partner to collect our things to avoid further confrontation.It's safe to say, all 25 of us were disappointed with our experience. I do not recommend this place for large groups as they obviously cannot handle the custom. We felt as though we were being treated like criminals all night - that's not the way a paying customer should feel.

The bar itself should work its really nicely set out and the drinks on offer are fun.I booked a table for my birthday. On booking I made it very clear I would have a disabled friend with me and that I was booking the table simply because of this and wanted to make sure he had appropriate seating. This was not catered for and about an hour into the night we had to ask for more appropriate seating. Even then he was stuck in a corner and not at our table. Not very appropriate and made me feel very uncomfortable that he was not seated with us.We then attempted to get a drink the bar staff took a very very long time to serve him and it wasnt until I alerted a member of the bar staff that she got someone to serve us. I would expect for the amount you have to spend on a table that the staff would be a little better trained. The manager I think it was offered him a free drink but this does not make up for the discrimination I felt took place.Dont think I would return tbh which is a shame cause apart from this its a nice place

Really like this place - the staff are always very good fun.Walked in at 6.30pm and we were wary as it seemed packed - however no problem getting drinks and into the swing of the evening.The band and dancers were great.

I visited Steam and Rye to celebrate a friends birthday. Rhys was our host and he made sure we had an amazing time! He recommended the best cocktails to match our tastes and was full of laughs!Usually, side dishes are tiny... Not at Steam and Rye. Between our group, we shared the creamed spinach, mac 'n' cheese, sweet potato fries and coleslaw. This was more than enough to go alongside the endless supply of ribs and shrimp. The cocktails were very interesting and came in all sorts of jugs/glasses - sparklers and all. All in all, my friend had a great birthday. Thanks Steam and Rye and Thank you Rhys.

I organised work drinks for our little hen in our office who was getting married. Happy Hour cocktails are half price so we ordered LOADS! All the cocktails are quite sweet but we had to try them all! We were there for a Halloween party and the live band was awesome! Gets a bit packed however! All in all a great venue I would recommend if you want a good place to start on a girls night out!

This is bar not a restaurant with weak overpriced cocktails. The decor is substandard; especially compared to other restaurants like Big Easy. Mac & cheese is over cooked pasta and white sauce - no cheese flavour and ribs over smoked. One plus was the popcorn shrimp. Left feeling unsatisfied yet £50 lighter. Shoulda gone to Pret!

Went here on Saturday night. I had been recommended it as an unusual bar to go to. So I went along to it with my girlfriend and friends of ours and really enjoyed it. The cocktails were very different to anything a typical London bar would serve you sort of being based on milkshakes and American tastes. It was fun and lively and best of all between 5-7pm it is 50% off cocktails which was great as every cocktail was at maximum £12.

We knew before arriving at Steam and Rye they provided live entertainment but we thought we would eat in another part of the restaurant/bar then be able to go for a drink at watch the live entertainment afterwards but we had to sit amongst people that were out drinking who were hovering and shouting over us while we're trying to eat. The food was good American food, the cocktails were amazing it just wasn't what we were expecting. Great experience though and I would recommend to my friends.

Loved the atmosphere, the greeting you get and the decor which is perfect for a good night out. The drinks are excellent, wide variety and all individually designed to be quirky and fun.The food is the real gem here. Good burgers, amazing ribs and masses of choice. It's ideal if there's a big group of you with a variety of sharing platters to suit all.Definately one of the best venues of its kind in the City.

We looked at the mixed reviews on trip advisor but booked any way. We had a table booked for 6:30 pm got in at 06:15 was not a problem we got seated and waited for our friends to arrive. We had a table on the first floor (Cargo hold) was very nice area to eat not as busy as the main area, service was perfect could not have been better. The cocktails look amazing, food was very nice with good portion size, the bill was good for London. The toilets are down a spiral and may be tricky if you are drunk. It was my other half birthday and they gave her a free cocktail with flaming sparkler was a very nice touch, We will be back.

Booked a table here for 10 people to celebrate a colleague's 40th Birthday. Also booked the "Jaws" drinks package. A pretty painless experience as far as booking was concerned. Having gone out in London and the city for a long time, I'm only too aware of the "issues" some venues have with single sex groups, so I specifically asked the lady taking the booking whether an all male party would be a problem. She double checked with her manager (who apparently was also going to be working on the evening we visited) and was told it was definitely not a problem, as long as we were smartly dressed and all had ID.Several booking confirmations followed, all from a generic "@steamandrye" address so everything was looking positive until...We arrived as arranged at 8:30 as a complete group. I approached the lady with the clipboard on the front door who asked if we had booked. When I said we had, she then asked if we were an all male group. I replied that we were but that I had made that clear at the time of booking. Her (snooty) response was that they did not admit all male groups, my confirmations "meant nothing" (well worth having then) unless I could show her an email with someone's name on it showing that it had been pre-agreed. Does such a thing exist, Steam and Rye? Obviously this was the bouncers signal to get involved who were beyond rude and made it clear they did not have the authority to overrule the important person with the clipboard.Rang the following day to complain, and was told in no uncertain terms it WAS NOT company policy to turn away all male groups, and that an investigation would take place. I asked to be kept informed as to the outcome, but never heard back. Another week passed and an email went off to "David" who I believe is assistant General Manager. Again totally ignored. Shocking customer service. So all in all, a ruined birthday celebration, rude staff and a complete lack of customer service. Unfortunately we were planning on a repeat visit for our company xmas party, so they've managed to also lose repeat custom.Don't be fooled by all the fake "Howdy!" Americana rubbish, this place is every bit as stuck up and faceless as the worst bars that unfortunately are all too common in London nowadays.

Really super quirky room made for a great drinks party. Staff were great. Lovely evening. So much fun that we didn't even make it downstairs to ride the bull!

Recently attended for a group night out. Everything about this bar was great. The staff were friendly and enthusiastic. The cocktails were out of this world. The venue itself is of a good size and excellent atmosphere. I look forward to returning at some point. Keep up the good work

Best cocktails ever, had way too much fun at the happy hour. Great service and friendly staff. Back in London for my birthday in January so will definitely be making a return!

A great vibe as soon as you walk , lots of theatre if it's people birthday etc, great steak and chips , great surface. Band is great playing well known party songs , they are on for about two hours 10-12 midnight then DJ comes on. If I had a gripe the drinks are a bit pricey £9 for a double and £5 for half pint of lager

Got a table for 15/20 people. Reservation was a bit painful and the only reason why I'm not giving 5/5. Please bear in mind that a few emails will come before the reservation is actually confirmed which is frustrating... BUT! Once in the place the evening was an absolute success. Great staff, even better music, cocktails second to none. The lady in charge of our table worked tirelessly to keep the table just to our group. Drinks came relatively quickly. Expensive but worth every penny. There was a 'mistake'in our last bill however once pointed out they were quick to correct it and charge us for the drinks actually ordered. Will be going back soon.

good place for Thursday night ..british and american flags, weekend bit overcrowded. athnosphere is cool,, cocktails are average wine list can be upgradable .. i am not looking perfect but could be better !!

We only went there for live music show (as advertised) and fab cocktails, but there was no live music, just DJ. Very disappointed because I chose the place out of three with live music and had OK food and nice cocktails, but no show, so the place looked like a nice pub, but the prices were way too high for the Pub. At least we thought the cocktails were amazing but after 9 when ordered cocktail it was served just in the normal pub glass, apparently they did not have anymore cocktail glasses. if you are looking for nice evening you should leave at 9 because it starts looking like a club and drunk people just start gathering around your table and even leaving their empty glasses on our table! But cocktails were lovely!

Great atmosphere, lots of fun and they do amazing and bizarre cocktails! The people who work there are lovely! Especially the bouncers who are quite possibly the nicest bouncers I have ever met!

First visit to steam and rye, we went when it was happy hour between 5-7pm all cocktails are half price and was impressed with the quality of the drinks for the money. One to put on the list next time in London on a night out.

Had a great evening at Steam & Rye in the private room upstairs. Alona was our waitress and done everything to accommodate us. Food and atmosphere was fantastic. Would highly recommend.

Loved the food - cocktails nice - after the meal the you can go into the bar for dancing and a live bandHowever all tables were reserved so had to stand all evening. You can hire a booth but minimum drinks order applies - quite a pricy evening all in all. Easy to find - nearest tube station is bank. Our waitress Rose was fab - very attentive and looked after Us well. You can have an entire evening In here I just wish there was more places to sit rather than stand but would go back- great music and live dancers too.

Steam and Rye – Well… This was my first time at this venue and the event was for my birthday. I initially booked via telephone and spoke to Jessica for the booking a month in advance, the availability was good and she had mentioned the Ciroc Bottle was £70 each and went through the varies packages we can purchase which was confirmed to myself and my wife. Jessica confirmed the booking, took a pre-authorised £100 holding fee and said we have the table for 2 hours. On entry we were greeted by members of staff and shown to our table. The venue looks a lot smaller then pictured across the net however is very clean, comfortable and quirky. Steam and Rye had happy hour during 5pm to 7pm whereby selected cocktails and beers are half priced, the cocktails are nice and the price make such a difference. There was one problem I encountered and that was the Ciroc bottle was £150 and not £70! Considering this was the start of the night, it was not the greatest news to hit the table. Katie Lombardelli made a lot of effort to sort the problem out, she called Jessica to clarify however Jessica could not remember and know why she would say this. Katie confirmed my instincts and said Steam and Rye would not drop the bottle price of £150. Considering I had a group of friends/family with me and everyone had come out with this expectation. Katie understood my frustration and organised a packaged offer of £250 for us, it included a bottle of Ciroc with all mixers, Suitecase Cocktail and Shots! – Which was the best deal of the night. We had ordered food and our Table hostess Sian had been looking after us. She was incredible! Service with a smile/banter and great communication… Our food was perfect and no one had any complaints, Sian looked after our every need and was very attentive. During our meal Steam and Rye had frequent performances of Cabaret Dancers, Fire Breathers and opened the dancefloor with an awesome DJ. Katie had also sorted out an extra hour on the table for the inconvenience and once we finally got kicked off, we headed to the dancefloor. Steam and Rye had brilliant entertainment with a live band, playing/singing most recent upbeat tracks. The atmosphere was buzzing!!! I want to give a big thank you to Katie Lomardelli and Sian for an amazing service. I had even offered Katie a tip which she refused and said it was all part of the service and hoped we had an amazing evening. Thank you Steam and RyeKatie – I hope I got your name right, as I got it off the receipt please get in contact if it is incorrect and I will update it for you.

What a nice place to go for food and a drink and even a dance till late.Food was really nice and cocktails are amazing service is great. Entertainment is really good that keeps the atmosphere going while dancing.
