Stick Or Twist J D Wetherspoon in Leeds

Witnessed a very rude female staff member with red hair and glasses yelling and swearing at a girl outside the Wetherspoons, going so far as to threaten to call the cops on her. Very unprofessional, I fear nothing warrants this behaviour from a staff member. The girl did not appear hostile either, rather confused, and was clearly outside of the property. After attempting to comfort her, she expressed that yelling is triggering for her, all the more amplified by her autism. Unacceptable and disappointing behaviour from one of my favourite pubs. Compliments to the chef for the cheesy chips, though.

A fairly large Spoons that seems to attract a good cross-section of patrons. The few times I've visited the service level has been patchy.

Ordered 2 cranberry juice and waited an hour to receive it…

Ideal place for families &friends

It’s a spoons, gets really busy when an event is on at the arena, but staff really work hard to serve quickly.

A very chill place to hang out with friends and have couple of drinks at an affordable price.

Arrived pre gig, so it was very busy, but service was still swift. Food and drink decent.

Used to rate this place, however stood waiting to be served behind three others and the girl behind the bar served someone who had just walked in the door before us. I said we were all waiting before him (I'm of the older generation where I think this is rude) only to have the girl tell me not to speak to her like that and that she has to work all through Christmas!!?? To add insult to injury the other girl behind the bar started to laugh and whispered something to her. Come on wetherspoons, I've been coming here a long time and put plenty of money in your tills. If staff can't hack a busy time then they're in the wrong job. By the way lots of us work through the Christmas period.

Very nice good service and prices

Ordered the cod and chips with mushy peas. Came with normal peas and no fish. Just a big lump of batter. Awful. Tasteless chips. Best thing was the Thatchers blood orange drink. One of our group had pepperoni pizza with no topping on. Never again.

Definitely worth a 5 ⭐ rating! First of all, I'd like to point out that I didn't get any food, so I can't comment on that, which is why I gave a 3 ⭐ rating. It was incredibly busy and very lively, so the atmosphere was great! I went here for a colleague's leaving do and that was fun - I ended up having 3x shots (on dares, lol 😅) as well as 2x Koppaberg Mixed Fruit and 3/4's of a Cloudy Apple Cider - and I could see fine but couldn't walk straight 🤣😂🤣😂!!

Female with glasses on said I was slurring my words so she wouldn’t serve me a pitcher even though that was my first drink of the night! I was talking perfectly fine I think she didn’t like young people. Maybe the woman can have a lesson on who’s drunk & not!! Silly girl.

Came in here today had fish & chips really nice.& a pint of Stella.

A decent meal and nice beers on tap. Staff frriendly and helpful.

We had jacket potato with cheese and coleslaw 1 of the potatoes was cooked too much and it was the size of a new potato very small so it was very dry and the skin was inedible couldn't even cut it with the knife it was harder than the table we were sat at, the table wasn't cleaned we had to move thing's off it onto another table which was also dirty it wasn't even that busy at the time either, sorry but won't be visiting here again Stick and Twist

With easy access, all on one level. Very attentive staff, welcoming atmosphere, regulars, and passing visitors mixing, Great place to meet, and have pre-arena drinks, or meet up after a show. Child friendly and quick service.

Standard Wetherspoons. Great location for a drink if you are attending an event at First Direct Arena. However can get very busy. Nothing to shout about as far as atmosphere or service when busy. Outside areas could do with heaters in the colder months.

What has happened to spoons food?

I visited here on a trip and had dinner there, and even though I'm not used to it, I was able to eat there with peace of mind. I think it's basically a place to drink alcohol, but there are some places to eat as well.

Too little service for too many customers. Very uncomfortable.

Lovely. Dare I say it borderline classy. Has what you need and more. Lovely outside area.

I had a great experience at this spoons - truly ethereal experience. Clean, quick and delicious. Megan (I think that was her name) served me and she made the best purple rain ever ❤️

My wife and I ( early sixties)visited here, Recommend the sirloin steaks which were cooked to perfection, jacket potato and a side and alcohilic drink for under £30. A big Thank you to Izzy our server for helping us download the weatherspoons app to order our food. Izzy wasn so kind and patient with us, she is a credit to the company.

Don't get me wrong, I love a wethers... Love But this one, on a steady wednesday afternoon. Wow... The clientele.... The down and outs.... Just full of 'Broken Britain' by the sunny window.. Such a strange contrast with the student area (who aren't in), and the gentrified city centre. Highlights the glitter stuck to the table, see attached. God I'm not in a rush to come back...

A nice, modern Wetherspoons. The service staff that were working on the 9th June were very friendly and went above and beyond what is expected in a city pub.

I can't fault the place, my only qwarms would be the price of the jack Daniels sauce which is £1.80 and you have to tell them when to stop for mixer but at least there not tight with it. It's a very nice place food and drinks prices are very reasonable foods great. I love the place and staff are very friendly highly recommended

A big, airy Spoons. Wasn't too busy on Saturday lunch when we were there. Standard Spoons fayre and value for money.

My partner and I came here for breakfast and it was gorgeous. The portion sizes were plentiful and the staff were very pleasant if you want a lovely breakfast or a brew in the sun at the front I highly recommend you come here. My partner and I both said we will come back here again I'm the future.

Sat outside here on a lovely sunny day, food was OK but only had chicken and salad which was nice, table service with app, wheelchair access, friendly atmosphere.

Had a breakfast not the best cold eggs beans cold seems to be the same in different areas why can they get it right

Average for what you'd expect from wetherspoons

Utterly ignorant staff. Spent 20 plus minutes in a queue, got to the bar, was asked by the person serving to step back so someone could pay by card, they used that as an opportunity to serve someone else. When they had to pay they asked me to move again so asked if was going to be served next I got a load of attitude. Suggest you train your staff properly or just get better ones.

YET ANOTHER GREAT PUB FROM " SPOONS " great location disabled access / large outdoor area if nice weather..the coffee / tea area could do with keeping up as sugar / milk keeps running out and NEEDS TOPPED UP..apart from that a all round good place to go and chill if out and about in LEEDS..near headrow for all your shopping needs

A splendid restaurant bar suited for all types. Beside the merrion centre & the music arena. Toilets at the far right of the bar area.

Changed in the last Two years, A good atmosphere for after work drinks along with excellent staff that have been there for a while this is a must go. But BE WARNED when there is an arena event on next door it WILL get VERY BUSY!!!!

It was really busy leading up to a concert we were going to at the First Direct Stadium. However, the staff were really good, fast and the food came out in no time at all. Overall excellent.

Perfect service and great atmosphere before Judas Priest concert. Imagine Wetherspoon packed up with metal heads. Amazing!

Edge of city location within prime student accommodation locality. Based on the site of its predecessor by the same name, which came from the former site (Grosvenor Casino). Ideally located for the Arena and a good stop off before or after the Bengal or other restaurants nearby or at the Merrion centre.

Great helpful, friendly staff, and a great selection of drinks and food. Breakfast was lovely and cheap!

Exceptionally rude and aggressive staff. We went to move a table and a member of staff came over and said ‘Oi you can’t move that” I went to put it back and she accused me of pushing the table at her” Ten minutes later a manager came over and asked for a word in private which I declined and asked that he speak in front of everyone. He said his staff member was upset and that I should apologise, I responded that I was upset at the way I’d been spoken to. He then said we should all leave. 14 of us left that had intended to stay for several hours.

The first time we came here we had the special Christmas Dinner and it was piping hot and delicious. When we came on Monday we had the breakfast. It was luke warm. Very disappointing. It wasn't very busy so the chef can't have been run off his feet. Also empty tables needed clearing. Not sure if they were short staffed.

Remarkably clean and pleasant for a 'Spoons. Hasn't lost the ubiquitous odd chap shouting to himself in the toilets, mind...

Very impressed with this Wetherspoons, quick service efficient and friendly service, clean tables cleaned immediately and table became free. I will be back.

Unfortunately it wasn't the best experience in regards to food. I had the Tennessee burger and a friend had the BBQ burger. Very dry and bland, even the chips were dry.

This is my go to place for breakfast when staying in Leeds, beats most hotels for price and quality of food.

A standard Wetherspoon pub in a decent location near to the First Direct Arena. There is a good selection of food and drink at a good price and plenty of seating. You can order either at the bar or using the app making it convenient to visit.

Great burgers. The line for the Stella was polluted and made the beer incredibly sour, would be nice if they had a clean bar.

Fab weatherspoons, very large restaurant and food was lovely, probably the best weatherspoons we've eaten at. Children have to be out for 9pm but staff gave us 30 minutes warning and came over and reassured us not to rush our food even though it was approaching the time we needed to leave by as we weren't aware children had to be out by 9pm when we ordered our food.

Mixed grill - Unbelievable quick. Very good value.

Newly reopened Wetherspoons and so much different to how it used be! The place was busy with the lunchtime rush but the service was spot on.

According to my Google timeline, I have been in here 34 times but not sure since when. We keep going back for good reason. As Spoons go it's fantastic, in fact in my opinion the best Spoons in Leeds with the Cuthbert coming second. Never had a bad drink or food and again for a Spoons the queues at the bar or delivery times from the app are not too bad. When the is a gig at FD it does get super busy but thats to be expected.

Food okay, price same. But I prefer the atmosphere of Wetherspoon in old building. May I suggest a Japanese meal, that is the Japanese curry sauce with fried fish and rice? With Japanese beer.

Always rammed due to the location but the staff handle the busyness really well. Just wish it was bigger as sometimes can't get a table but that's not the venues fault.

Great place to visit for a very decent priced drink

Quite a large Wetherspoon's just on the edge of Leeds city centre. It has ample seating inside and outside. Very close to Leeds Arena, so great for a bit of food/drink before a gig there. Especially with the price of alcohol at the arena. It's the usual Wetherspoon's food and drink. Nice and cheap. Great full English breakfast.

We visited stick or twist waiting to see madness, it's very spacious, clean ,great atmosphere and the staff are really friendly.Will definitely be coming back to sample the food 😀 👍

A larger establishment with less than perfect seating arrangements however the food here is the best I have ever had at a Wetherspoons, no dry burgers or something that may have been frozen. I opted for a pizza which was really good, a thin and fresh base and fresh tasty toppings. My partner's food was fresh and tasty too. Well worth a visit especially if you are going to the arena.

This is a new Spoons to me and was the best of the five I visited in Leeds yesterday. My two favourites -City Station and Beckett's Bank were both poor yesterday. Quick and friendly service, nice clean glasses, ice and slice with a smile. And of course excellent value. The pub was reasonably full and there was a good atmosphere with a very diverse set of customers. The pub was clean and tidy and tables were being cleared quickly. This is now my new favourite in Leeds city centre.

Cold food and not much atmosphere, but lovely staff, good choice of hand-pulled beers , and clean, well-maintained toilets.

Everything one expects of a 'spoons. The beer is cheaper than a lot of the surrounding pubs, table service was very quick via the app. I also had a double cheeseburger & wished I would have walked over the road to Burger King, the best thing about it was the gherkin.

Very busy on a Saturday afternoon but food was prompt and very nice, toilets clean and right next to the arena
