Storm in a teapot is a superb tea room offering main menu, cakes, hot drinks, milkshakes and so much more! I will be back to bring friends and family. Loved my experience with friendly and helpful staff as well as delicious food.

Took my Mum in today for a daily tea. This is different to the Afternoon Tea which has to be booked in advance but we chose not to do that as our plans were flexible. The daily tea is a filling (so filling!) alternative so I had checked the menu so I knew what to expect: a sandwich, scone and a piece of cake from the selection for each of us. Chloe (who served us) was so friendly and put my Mum at ease. There was no hurry and so this relaxed my Mum. Nothing was too much trouble and I ordered a cake that wasn't included (I knew this as it was clearly stated) and they only charged my an extra £1 for it (I was so shocked as I bake cakes at home so thought it would be way more). My Mum couldn't eat her cake as well after the delicious sandwich and scone so Amy (another server) boxed it up for her to take home so it wouldn't be wasted. When I know we have more time I will definitely take her back for an Afternoon Tea (dainty sandwiches and little cakes!) but the daily tea was perfect for us on this occassion. I love the fact that there were healthier options available too. The cook (Shelby - I asked because we wanted to thank her for the food) is clearly keen to provide for a variety of dietary wants/needs. The staff are so welcoming and always happy to answer any questions which meant when I queried something (my own fault as it was clearly written on the menu) they answered kindly and didn't make me feel silly (even though I was!) Definitely going back for another visit soon.

I have been to the tearoom on various occasions and every time has been incredible. The staff are friendly, welcoming and couldn’t do enough to help. The food is fresh, hot and tasty! 100% recommend going to the team room with family, friends, significant other or even on your own!

Was taken there as a birthday treat and was looking forward to it. Lovely first impression. Ordered a full English breakfast, scrambled egg on toast and daily afternoon tea for 2. I don't drink tea or coffee so asked for an alternative drink, was told that If I wanted an alternative I would have to pay extra for it. They offer juice with the kids afternoon tea so why shouldn't they offer the same for adults. The full English was inedible. The sausages were anaemic, the beans were very dry and the hash browns were soggy. The toast that came with it was cold. The scrambled egg was not scrambled, it was a fried egg roughly chopped up and wasn't even cooked properly. The sandwiches were doorstep sandwiches, not dainty as expected, which wouldn't have been so bad if they were fresh, but the bread was hard and cold, no way fresh that day. The deputy manager was very uninterested in our complaints and really couldn't be bothered. When I asked for the bill, to pay for the drinks we had, I was presented with a bill for £22, she tried charging us for 1 afternoon tea, even though none of it had been eaten. A very disappointing experience and I would recommend if you want fresh food and good customer service you go elsewhere.

After a very friendly reception on the phone when booking, a very disappointing experience, with poor presentation and service. Firstly, re the afternoon tea, one of us didn’t drink tea or coffee, however, staff were not prepared to replace with a cold drink! The sandwiches were bulky and ungainly and the wholemeal bread did not appear fresh! Next, my scrambled eggs were not scrambled, rather a fried egg chopped up with the white part overcooked and the yolk undercooked! The sausage and bacon in the fried breakfast were undercooked and the toast cold. Four of us had to then find an alternative place to eat, which was extremely disappointing as this was meant to be a birthday lunch/tea. Needless to say, will not be returning!

We hired this tea shop for a private function on a Sunday afternoon in May for an Afternoon Tea event for 50 people. The tea room looked welcoming and pretty on our arrival, lovely music was playing. Sophie and her amazing team worked tirelessly looking after us during our 2 hour function. The afternoon tea was wonderful. Sandwiches, scones and cakes were all lovely and tasty. They catered with no quibble for our gluten free and vegan guests. This establishment is perfect for functions such as ours so give them a first thought for any birthday, anniversaries etc events. Thank you Sophie, Josh and the team for making our event go so well! We will return!

Dreadful customer service. Waited over an hour for meal before asking what was going on. Told our order had been forgotten but that it would be put through there and then and would take 15 minutes. Over 20 minutes later still no food and was told the afternoon teas were being given out first then our order will be brought to us. Manager was in shop but did not apologise or intervene at all. Decided this was adding insult to injury and left. Felt we were treated in an appalling way and will never go back.

The cheese on toast was delicious and so was the tea that came up in a China teapot . My family enjoyed the English breakfast they had. Good standard of food. They will be returning for afternoon tea for mothers day.

Booked Afternoon Tea for 2 for today via email, and they took a special request for our sandwiches. Arrived early and was greeted warmly and seated straight away. Lovely cosy homely environment. Sandwiches and cakes/sweets were amazing. So tasty and such good quality, we couldn’t finish everything so we took away the rest of our cakes with us. Presentation was beautiful. Staff were so friendly, welcoming and really lovely. Price is so reasonable. I really can’t say enough nice things about this place. We are so lucky that this is practically on our doorstep, and I can’t wait to go back and try other things on the menu as everything looked so good!!

Lovely little Costa, a bit out of the way but close enough to walk to for me. Great staff and helpful when I was undecided what to have.

We had a short notice booking for a double room. The room we received was comfortable, spacious, well-furnished and very clean. I was pleased with the complimentary toiletries, tea and coffee. The downstairs venue is loud and busy until late hours, but that's what you sign up for when you book an inn, so we were okay. The location is very convenient. The only issues we had were that the shower head could not be fixed at a hight and always slid down, and the blanket was very hot. On the second night of our stay it was very windy, and the historic single-glazed windows rattled a lot, so we couldn't sleep. In the morning, the manager offered us free breakfast to compensate for the inconvenience, which was awfully kind and definitely made a difference, hence the 5*. The breakfast was delicious. Would recommend this place to anyone passing through Hornchurch.
