I been to Subway Thorpe lea road yesterday. Lovely staff in there always make us feel welcome. Food is great and they asking what we want and great service provided by the staff.

Incompetent staff. Can't even make a hot chocolate. It was lukewarm. Wouldn't give a paper bag to carry my multiple drinks and food because it's company "policy".

Staff contaminates everything by touching everything with the same gloves. So even if you’ve asked her to change the gloves because you want veg she’s already contaminated it with the previous gloves by touching everything.

This subway is in the petrol station but it's not any different from other shops. There are a few tables inside so you can eat in.

The staff here were really nice and helpful. Helped me come up with the best sandwich I've ever had... hearty Italian, steak and cheese, extra jalapenos, chipotle sauce, and all toasted... Just FYI the bottles of sodas and drinks here are more expensive than the bottles available in the petrol side of the shop, sometimes by up to 50p so well worth knowing if you wanted to get a meal deal that it's cheaper to buy the sandwich at subway and the crisps & drink from the garage than from subway. You can eat in, just keep an eye on parking cos technically you are parking on the petrol stations land

The special fried rice had no flavour the meat had no colour and the shrimp had a strong smell... none of my family ate it. The salt and pepper chips had good flavour but was dripping in grease.. so soggy potato and grease all in the bag.

I find this store’s atmosphere consistently unpleasant, primarily due to the attitude of the staff and, most notably, the manager. The staff at this location often appear miserable and unwelcoming, making it feel as though customers are an inconvenience. This has been a recurring issue, and despite my frequent visits, the experience never improves. The manager, in particular, sets a poor example. She is visibly unhappy, unapproachable, and outright rude. Basic courtesies like “excuse me” or “thank you” are entirely absent, which I find unacceptable for a brand that prides itself on creating a welcoming environment. I’ve had numerous incidents over the past year, but today’s experience was the last straw. My sister accompanied me to the store, and after being served, she commented that it was the worst customer service she has ever experienced. This confirmed to me that it isn’t just my perception—there is a clear, systemic issue with how this branch operates. Specific issues include: 1. Attitude and Customer Service: Staff consistently display no warmth, courtesy, or willingness to serve. Requests for even small customisations to drinks—such as extra shots, alternative milk, or adjustments like no syrup—are met with resistance, frustration, or are outright ignored. 2. Manager’s Behavior: The manager’s behavior is especially problematic. One incident I recall vividly involved me asking for the door to remain closed during the winter for safety and comfort while I was with my two-year-old. Despite acknowledging my request, the manager opened the door again without explanation, leaving us in an uncomfortable and cold environment. 3. Consistent Disregard for Customer Needs: It is clear that this location lacks the fundamental customer service values that are standard at other Starbucks locations. This branch’s atmosphere is the opposite of what Starbucks promises—relaxing, welcoming, and uplifting. I continue to visit this location only because it is conveniently close to my home, but the experience leaves me frustrated and disheartened every time. Something needs to be done to address the culture at this store, as it is severely damaging to the Starbucks brand.
