Seriously .was it the same place we love a lot and always dine …No way …Prices r sky high with portion size is getting smaller and smaller .Food was not good at all .service was bizarre ..too much congested place .i think Same Chefs r not working there anymore .They r putting more and more rice to make platter look big …but it should b quality not quantity which matter .Its was my one of many trips there but really disappointed this time .wont go back again …

Wouldn't really recommend - very cramped and service wasn't the best. Food portions were far smaller than expected - none of us left feeling fully after spending quite a lot per person. Quality was okay but definitely better places in ilford

Hello, yesterday I had a dinner for my brothers birthday at this establishment. First in the Hummus we found hair and it was dismissed as eyelash hair. We decided not to eat the hummus and carry on with our meal. However after eating my mother’s eyes fell on another piece of hair. This time it was most definitely too long to be eyelash and we could hear the manager arguing with his workers. He approached our table and said he can’t do anything and it was “eyelash hair”. This was honestly disgusting as none of the servers or chefs wear any hair caps and they didn’t even apologise.

The food came out cold and the donner was cold and chewy. The chicken shish half was cooked well done half was normal showing that the chicken might have came back from the table and put back on the grill and sent to us. I spoke to the owner and he mockingly said I can’t do anything and made us pay in full. Absolutely disrespectful. When we paid the bill he said you’re making me feel bad but still done nothing about it . Won’t be coming again.

The food was cold and dry. The chicken shish Looked like And taste like it came off someone’s leftovers. The Donner was very fatty and chewy and also stone cold. The shop wasn’t up to hygiene standards will not be eating here again

Very good place but small and congested due to location. Food is amazing, cooked to perfection, love chicken soup, lamachun and mix platter. Very helpful staff. What I did like was, prices of platter are going up but quantity is small considering what it was.

Mix plater was good I loved chicken wings but kebab weren't so nice. Kids loved meat and chops. Celebrated my daughter's birthday and people were really welcoming and made my daughter feel comfortable ☺️. People were clapping and singing for her big day, couldn't ask for anything better. Thank you

Absolutely delicious, Fresh and authentic Turkish food. We ordered Sultan Platter which included Lamb Ribs, Chicken Wings, Lamb Chops, Adana Kofte, Chicken Beyti, Lamb Shish, Chicken Shish. They also served complimentary bread, salad, mixed Doner, Turkish tea and Turkish delight. All the meat items were cooked to perfection, very juicy and tender. Salad and bread were fresh and tasty. Humus, Kisir Aubergine, Cacik were also taste good. Highly recommended if you’re looking for Turkish food in east London.

We went to Sultan to Celebrate my daughter & son inlaws recent house purchase in Ilford. The restaurant is a traditional Turkish restaurant. The food was fresh and delicious, service was excellent and the atmosphere was cosy. The prices were also very affordable. Highly recommended.

Obnoxious!!!! We went to restaurant for birthday ( wife's)lunch today and had worst possible experience by the mgr Sara.She came to our table hold our one flavoured water bottle which we brought for our disabled daughter, was telling off by saying that we should've brought this bottle as some ppl comes here with such bottle with alcohol.in addition, she warned us not to bring such bottle. My wife deliberately was trying to make her understand that it was for my little disabled daughter and she doesn't drink normal water ( as dr.instucted).she was still arguing about her excuses about alcohol etc. As I wanted to talk to mgr,she told me that she was responsible as mgr. And no apology was extended either..I was really surprised and disgusted by this experiences .I am being a hotel manager currently would not accept such Obnoxious behaviour by a manager specifically with family with disabled little girl..she basically ruined our day out as she was talking about this wiered exuses and obviously, in front of our guests and my disabled daughter..Severely shocked and disappointed about this.i will NOT come again and will notify this incident to all my fellow friends and their families to avoid sultan for their visit. This is really unacceptable.. SHAME!!!!!

Food was dry and service was awful. No one bothered and unprofessional behaviour . I am not going to come back. Soup was smelling bad.

We arrived at 11.54 am and was told that restaurant wouldn’t be open for another 15 minutes despite opening time being 12.00pm. The person who met us door was rude and instead of offering us a seat whilst they set up told us to leave. We then called Harman in Gants Hill at 11.56am they said they’re not open but will open shutters for us so we can go in - big difference in service. Please train your staff on how to speak to people, it’s a key skill in customer service, you lost a customer today because of it.

The food was absolutely amazing. Staff were very nice but I would say it was too overcrowded, tables too close and no space to walk. I went with my babies and there was no space for buggies, we had to fold the buggy and put our car seat on the table.

The service and unfortunately the food quality has gone down hill since it's early days. We spend over 100 on the main dish. It was served on a plate that wasn't big enough with bulgur and rice falling down the sides. The staff are young, un-attentive, not a smile in place. It wasn't even busy at the time we went. Our bill came to 120, it was amazing not even a complimentary baklava nor tea was offered. Unlike the restaurants early days, we used to at get least a tea. Won't be going back there again.

Very pathetic service. The seating arrangements were very poor. Staff was continuously disturbing customers by asking for space to pass through. Specially staff head was very rude, and when we asked for help, she just rolled her eyes and went away. Not family friendly, specially when you are with kids.

This restaurant’s customer service is absolutely atrocious. I’ve been a loyal customer, but after this visit, I’m done. They crammed five people at a table meant for two, leaving absolutely no space for anything. When we asked for additional space, the staff had the audacity to give us rude, condescending looks instead of fixing the problem. To make matters worse, there was a perfectly fine table for four available nearby, but they refused to give it to us. Moments later, they seated the group next to us at that exact table. The lack of basic common sense from the staff were infuriating. We were left to shove our food and drinks onto a side table. Why on earth would you overbook the restaurant if you can’t handle the crowd? It’s beyond stupid and shows terrible management.

They really ruined my evening yesterday (22/11/24). I went there with my two kids and wife to have some quality time. Upon arrival, they lead us to small table (which was actually for two people) I requested a bigger table, however, they declined by saying all are booked. I order a bigger platter, when arrived there was no space for it. I couldn’t eat as the food got cold and then manager came, he switched us to another table after 10min of food on our table. We were waiting all this time. In short, small space, you will be treated like herds. Honestly, people can move nor you can enjoy the food. I’ll never visit there. By the way, this was my favourite spot and I used to twice a month with friends and family.

Food is very nice and well priced, but the staff are very straight faced and quite intense. They are nice when they want to be. Disappointed they don't give tap water. Sitting at the back is cold and there was a loud noise from the back door constantly.

We popped in for dinner and did not book a table at the time , but we were welcomed in and shown a table , we ordered the chef's special , The food is delicious and fresh love it all .Generous Portions. Will strongly recommend it to anyone , and for the price for two us at £45:95 that is good , a big thanks to all the staff there working so hard , we will be back for more :)

Was the best Turkish in east London in the past no longer the case, last few times of ordering over a long period I felt the quality has gone down dramatically.

Guys please don’t go if you want to have bad service .The staff is rude and no smile on their face and always in a rush to clear the table .The portion size is small for the price also the waiting staff when taking the payment was so rude and also when returning the change literally threw the change box on the table .We found the service absolutely rubbish and food just ok Please improve your service it’s pathetic .

The ambiance was delightful, and the efficient service from the well-staffed team ensured that there were plenty of smiles all around. After first visit we used to come there more and more. Now, regarding the food: we were treated to complimentary starters of bread and a delightful meze, which set a high standard. The main course, a mixed grill, truly enhanced the overall experience. Each piece of chicken and lamb shish was cooked to perfection, and ➕any kind of meat was very juicy and unforgettable taste, ➕the salad was included to any dish without charges, ➕the bread which is very tasty and fresh and warm was also without charges, ➕homemade souses as well were free, the kofte was free of undesirable bits, and the accompanying sauces complemented the rice as it should in an Anatolian grill. This was an unforgettable dining experience! To top it off, we were served complimentary Turkish tea and Turkish delight, and then we were astonished by the bill—under £25. We were convinced there had been a mistake and that they had overlooked charging for something. Even after settling the bill and leaving a tip that reflected the exceptional service, we still felt we had not paid enough. If I could give zero stars I would very disrespectful staff they don’t no how to communicate nicely . They give the food cold and Takes about an hour for it to arrive. The kebab are old and has a bad smell to it I wouldn’t be suprised anyone having food poisoning avoid avoid u might aswell have a Tesco meal deal instead of going there.

we ordered a sultan special for £66.97 and the portion was small. It was very disappointing for the amount we paid.

Flavours were somewhat decent, but we found plastic in the food and the portion sizes were so small.

Have been ordering from here few times but for the last few times specially last night it was unacceptable, the meat was undercooked specifically the rips and the chicken Woke up at midnight feeling sick almost died from vomiting

This place has definitely gone downhill. Firstly we had to wait 35/40 minutes for the food to arrive. When the food came the chicken shish was undercooked. We told the waitress that it was under cooked and she took the chicken pieces back and brought it back over cooked. Rock hard chicken which we couldn’t give to our kids. We complained at the end to the waitress and said they couldn’t do anything and did not care about our experience. Overall 0/10 and will not be visiting again.

Overall experience was not good as the service was so slow and the environment was bit off. The staff was fighting very rough with each other making others uncomfortable. The food was just okay kebabs were not cooked well just disappointed.

Extremely rude stuff, they were speaking in their own language and trying to disrespect customers with a rude behaviour to be honest the chefs was a good man.

Your food I cannot fault. It's consistent and good but your service is now officially rubbish. I have been coming here for many years but over the years I have seen your establishment turn from a respected restaurant to a money making greed restaurant. My wife and I had food leftover to take home but the waitress said a takeaway box is a 'chargeable fee'. We spent over £60 and you want to charge us for a container to take our food home?! You charge for your turkish tea. You charge for more bread.Absolute madness. Won't be long till you charge your customers to use the toilet! I rather stick to Kervans Sofrasi where none of this nonsense happens. Worker also refused to accommodate a pushchair as you guys 'needed space'. I have never understood your establishment logic into cramming in so many tables that it makes the customers feel uncomfortable. Your literally squeezing into tables and knocking other chairs Why don't you guys get rid of a few tables to make the experience more enjoyable rather than having people sit on top of one another?

Overall experience was nice but there is a very big issue with the İskender kebab. It’s either undercooked tomato sauce or the meat(I couldn’t decided what was the problem). I couldn’t have the kebab at all. Normally even if it tastes okay, I would eat it since I pay for it but this time I couldn’t which was sad. 😞 Please make sure that you fix iskender kebab cause it’s a go to meal in Turkish cuisine. Paça soup and the lamb kebab were pretty good.

We been 7 ppl plus 2 kids.and our platter price is £91.95 but they charged £1.50 for single Turkish tea for my kid. We are fully disappointed with food & poor customer service. We have been many Turkish restaurants. We never had such a poor experience. Please avoid and teach them.

Great tasty Turkish food. I usually go for the platter, which includes a variety of different chicken and lamb, with plenty of rice and bulgur. My favourite being the ribs. The service is very good and they try and serve you as soon as possible, even though it can get very busy at times.

Quantity of rice and couscous was overloaded, hardly you are able to see if there is DONER kebab or chicken doner kebab all you see in the platter , poor quality of couscous & rice . Quality of couscous & rice look like mashed potato .Local redbridge health and safety food inspector MUST visit this restaurant to check food standard's .

Booked for 24 people including small kids a week in advance. Guests coming from very far so I asked for reservation to be delayed from 7pm to 7.30pm earlier on in the day. They refused and the so called bookings manager calling herself Alexandria phoned me at 7pm and said ur booking is cancelled. The guests were literally on their way. I ended up having a long argument with her. I said I can’t be there at 7pm on the dot and to atleast give some extra time. She then said 7.15pm max. The guests would have arrived for 7.20pm. She didn’t agree to extend the time further than 7.15pm and therefore cancelled the booking and said she would put us on a waiting list if we came beyond 7.15pm. She was so unreasonable, unprofessional, rude, unaccommodating and had a horrible attitude and poor communication skills. She lost out on a big booking for the restaurant and could have made a big sale for the business as we were all very hungry. However, she seemed to have no care for the business or the customers. We called up wazir and straight away they gave us a table for 24 people and had the best service and food. Shame on sultans for hiring poorly trained staff and therefore losing customers. This happened at 7pm on 28/7/24. If any of the owners care for their business then look into this matter as your staff are losing you business.

Price is bit high and little but congested and when you have more people the service will take long time but food is 👍

I can't rate the food or atmosphere as we didn't get to eat, but the service was horrendous. I walked in with my 2-year-old toddler and my wife for dinner. Half the restaurant was empty, and according to the notepad I saw, they had only 2 bookings. Despite this, we were told to wait for 20 minutes even though there were more than 4 rows of empty tables (each row had 3-4 tables). I believe because we were a small family, they just didn't want to accommodate us, which is bizarre. Restaurants should accommodate everyone, especially when it's not busy. I don't think I'll go back as we had to find somewhere else to eat. Super disappointed and definitely something they need to work on.

I buy food regularly from Sultan. On 20 July, I bought chef special platter and paid £15 for for salad and sauces which were part of the platter. The salad was off completely off and unable to eat them. Made complaint to restaurant manager Harry who denied to apologise for bad food production and any liability. Worst customer service

Most of the time it is very busy, but I have never been waiting for a long time. Take away and home delivery also available. Good for prices. I highly recommend visiting this place.

I want to share my experience been there twice had to experience awful service no offence like food is amazing tasty but the staff dont bother have to be asking again n again or call up many times even the guy on the till came to us for order as no one else could come appreciate that guy in white shirt just shared my experience others must go n should try as foods nice need to work on customer service

What an amazing afternoon!! And Okyanus was an exceptional waitress!!! She was very friendly and flexible….no request was difficult for her to fulfil. We had a group of our foster carers and staff from NFA London North, a group of over 40 people showing our appreciation for the work the foster carers do. Well done Sultan! Thank you Okyanus!! 😎🙏🏾😁

Great place to eat... family's favourite. There is no other Turkish restaurant that has the same quality and taste. Price is reasonable, and quantity is generous. Lot of complementary stuff, especially Turkish tea.

Went here as a group of 4 in the early evening. Only after we being seated after waiting 20 mins for a table were we told that doner and pide were not available. Tables that were seated and ordered after us were served first. Lachmacun was good but lamb and chicken shish were very dry.

Went during a quiet time and the service i thought was shockingly slow, food was undercooked, chicken especially. Asked for a mango drink and it was poured from a cheap carton infront of us and overcharged for it.

Our go-to Turkish place, we’ve been coming here for a long time. Fantastic food and excellent service all with smiles and kindness. Lots of credit especially goes to Faria and the girls wearing Hijab.

Travelled Ilford & stopped by Sultan for late lunch. Restaurant was busy on main road. Parking nearby on roads. We went inside and seated within 5 mins. It was busy and atmosphere was loud from other diners. We placed order within 10 minutes and food arrived within 15 mins. I ordered mix kebab and partner ordered adana kebab and 2 x drinks. Both portion size was big and was tasty. We had no complaints and we were happy with food and service 😋 I know it can get crazy busy later in evenings. Will recommend 👌
