First time here, food was very nice. Great parking.

Despite it being a busy NYE service was friendly and professional. Food was lovely and plenty of it. No long wait and communication about the food, how to order etc was great. It got busier before we left and we could see how hard the staff were working to keep everybody happy. We will return in the new year for sure

We just popped in on Sunday, it was v busy but we were attended to very quickly and only had to wait a short time for a table. Great food and service.

Lack off staff have to wait 20 mins for a drink with table service food isn't the best much perfer The blackhorse up illy where staff are friendly and polite and any issues with food or drinks gets resolved as it should not like the sun shocking staff and service guys not good when your paying for your grub !! £6.50 a point absolute rip off too

A very busy pub at dinner time with some spare places. The food was excellent at reasonable prices and served in a very friendly atmosphere. The food was freshly cooked to order.

Very good service and amazing food

Great service but the food was dreadful, returned and still cold and burnt somehow. They even managed to mess up pepsi flat and no taste. At least the beer is good. I would personally never come back. Changed from 2 stars to 3, the deserts were lovely.

We've been going to the Sun for a while now. One of our go-to places for some good pub food. It had a refurb a year or so ago. I'm not sure if it changed hands at this point or shortly before, but there was a big improvement to the food. Previously it was a 2 for 1 pub, which meant it was cheap, but the food was only ok. Since then the prices have gone up a bit, but the food is now really good. Also worth mentioning, we have been a few times with friends who have specific dietary requirements. These are always catered for either already on the menu or when mentioned

I've been to the Sun at romsley in Halesowen for a while now with my 2 best girlfriends,every time we go we have a great time,good food,great service,staff really friendly and lovely,can't rate it enough brilliant place

I accessed the restaurant from the far rear door by the car park. I approached a member of staff who appeared to be at some sort “Reception” area but was advised to go and stand at another place they pointed at and somebody would see me. I went to what I now realised was the welcome desk, nobody was there, however a staff member from behind the bar asked how they could help, came over, looked at the booking and led me to my table. Advising me that it was table service. At no point between then and the other parties sitting down was I asked if I wanted a drink. When we came to order, there didn’t seem to be very many staff wandering about and it was almost 5 minutes before a member of staff came and we asked if we could order. Our food did take a long time to come compared to others who had ordered just before us however we weren’t too concerned because the restaurant had started filling up. My friend and I both ordered the chicken and mushroom pie, unfortunately neither of us were impressed with this. The gravy was lukewarm and we requested that it be heated up. The pie description was short crust base with a puff pastry lid. Probably due to how the pie wad cooked the pastry was not flaky nor crusty for either, we found it was quite hard to cut. However, it was edible and we didn’t want another pie cooking because the chances are it will probably end up the same and I was hungry. At no point during our meal did anybody ask if our food was okay, nor upon collecting the plate or when paying the bill. Overall a very disappointing experience and I probably will not go back for a long time if at all.

Staff very polite friendly and welcoming and the Sunday dinner was amazing. Going again for our staff Christmas meal drinks and disco looking forward to visiting again.

We booked a table a few days previous. When we got there nobody was available to speak to on arrival! We had included in the reservation that we had a dog with us “which you stare are welcome” but apparently you reserve the shabbiest area of the pub with the tiniest tables for visitors with dogs!! I noticed that our booking was moved in front of me on the computer as I enquired at the desk! I find the whole episode unpleasant and the stony face of the servers did nothing to change my opinion. 😡😡. It’s misleading when you say you take digs and then put the In the worst area of the pub. Welcome means welcome to me. Also Diane, we had driven a long way to have lunch so we stayed!! I said it was fine because I didn’t have a choice!!

Excellent service. Quick, efficient, drinks came quickly and food came fast and piping hot. What was brilliant was after the plates were taken away we were left alone to chat without being disturbed. When we were ready to pay we waved for someone and they came to us straight away and we paid within 2 minutes. Brilliant service so happy with our visit

We had two chicken masalas and rice two sides of fries and one gamon and chips all very nice .

Seated at round table which was perfect for parking the pram. Order taken quickly. Waited 45 mins for food order. Meals weren't very hot. Beef tough. Stuffing ball hard. No pigs in blanket on turkey meal. Breaded mushrooms awful, probably frozen. Wanted removed from the bill but my Son didn't want a fuss made. Female server called us 'love' or 'lovelies' totally unprofessional. Male server sullen & could barely understand him. Obvious not enjoying his job role. In all, not a good experience. Won't be back in a hurry.

I come to the sun for a family meal and had an amazing experience. The food was great and the atmosphere was just what we would expect it to be as well as the service, all staff members were lovely and had a smile on their faces. Would definitely recommend.

Nice friendly pub with lovely beer garden. Sunday Roast was disappointing. Processed meat, not roasted and not carved. Veg was watery , tasted like frozen Mash tasted like it came out of a bag. Roasters tasted frozen. Stuffing was dry and hard. Yorkshire was warmed up in microwave and was chewy, not enough gravy. Pudding was overheated in microwave also. Rubbery and tasteless. Not enough custard. Coffee was nice.

Booked online which was really easy. Arrived and shown to our table which was ready. Food was great- 2 people had steaks and commented how good they were for the price - better than that of miller and carter! Staff were friendly and helpful and there was a happy atmosphere in the pub. Very enjoyable late lunch with friends and dogs!

Absolutely delicious Sunday roast servive is fast and all the staff are friendly and so welcoming. Would highly recommend will definitely be going back very soon.

Firstly this is a pub that does basic food so if you remember that you can’t go wrong. Every time I’ve been the food has been hot which is the top of my list. Do I wish all there food was home made ? Yes I do as you can’t beat home made food but the staff are polite, attentive with great customer care

Disappointed having booked a table for 6-30 on Sunday that they had run out of roasts. I was looking forward to a nice meal which was advertised as being served until 8-00 pm. Staff were excellent, but still a disappointment .

Lovely pub! Great beer garden! Nice kids play area. Real cosy feel inside with the decor and furnishings they do a selection of cocktails thr food was pretty standard, but I think alot of pubs now don't know how to cook so standard is good :D felt like there was a bit of tension with the staff maybe they were rushed off their feet but the place wasn't busy it was a midweek lunchtime, but they did their very best and didn't have an attitude with customers which also seems pretty rare nowadays. Overall I would visit again! :)

Food decent, was nice and hot, service was lacking as got seated and no one one came, took ages to take order or even ask for a drink. I could see four free serving staff just standing by kitchen chatting, one having a drink. No one was checking if any one needed serving. In the end I was staring over to get attention, so one person then noticed. Ordered starter, said to just bring with main, it was then left behind and forgotten to be brought out. I then said don't bother with it, as we'd started eating already.

food was average pub food, chips however were greasy and chip fat seemed to have been old. (know this from experience of having worked in a pub) we used to visit quite often years ago however not sure we would go back again as veggie options are really limited.

The Sun is one of our local go to places for convenient family meals and, to be fair, we've rarely had negative experiences before. This visit however was not great. It was busy inside, which you'd expect for a Sunday afternoon (especially with a recent 30% offer flyer through the post), but there seemed to be a real lack of ownership for the area we were in by any particular waiter. The order was taken by the manager on a pad of paper - I said at the time that this was refreshing as it's so common now to order through an app and have very limited human interaction. The drinks came quickly, but were slightly incorrect; only minor things - ice in ones that shouldn't have, no lemon in one that had been requested. Nothing major. The food order though was disappointing - two meals were completely muddled in that the burger had been plated up as the 'light' option and the steak the 'normal'. This should have been the other way round - we explained this to a couple of waiting staff, who both seemed perplexed by what was going on. When the right meals did arrive (almost 10 minutes later - the rest of the meals at the table were now half way through) the steak meal was still incomplete - missing the rice side. When this was queried, again to two different wait staff, there seemed to be more confusion between them. I had finished the meal by the time someone had managed to work out what was going on; the kitchen had run out of rice and, seemingly, just plated it up as 'normal'. At no point were we advised that half the meal was missing and no apology was made. To top it off, one of the desserts was ordered as gluten free and when it arrived and we asked to check if it was indeed gluten free, no one seemed to know. It was taken back to the kitchen to be sure and wasn't returned until all of the other desserts around the table had been finished. We were then brought two separate drink orders we had not ordered and were almost accused of lying when we said they weren't ours - "they're not yours? Are you sure?". All in all, I think we were 'served' by 6 different individuals, none of who seemed to have any ownership over us or the area. A disappointing meal and one that will make us think twice about going back any time soon.

Enjoyed another Sunday meal at the Sun - both service and food always excellent. The ambience is pleasant and welcoming, good wholesome pub food with a wide range of options to choose from.

Fantastic family meal at the sun. Good was amazing really accommodating regarding the fussy eater children. Excellent service from friendly staff nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely be visiting again.

Food was quite good, however the service was diabolical. I asked for gravy. The waitress argued that I already had gravy on. I couldn't see it so requested more. Told us that one sauce was extra cost. But Attitude was dire. Not one smile from any of them . Felt like they didnt want to be there. Forgot to bring one of the sauces. We waited so long to pay for the bill that we paid for it ourselves at the bar. All in all not the best experience for my daughters Birthday celebration. This establishment definitely needs some customer service training on the table service. They need to watch n learn from the staff at the bar, who were excellent.

Nice atmosphere, and the outside area was perfect to meet up with family on a warm evening.

The service was average nothing too bad but in all honesty a little slow. From the drinks order to the mains then to the puddings it was as if the waitress was on a go slow. The food was good and in all honesty the saving grace. Cost of drinks is nothing short of a joke! £6.55 a pint, I get we're not in wetherspoons but it's just a rip off. If I would have knowm beforehand it wouldn't have been ordered. There wasn't much atmosphere also it was as if it was the national let's be silent championship! The drinks killed the whole experience and for that I wouldn't recommend or return

Rebecca served us today . She was very welcoming , friendly and efficient . She returned to ask if our meal was ok and if further drinks were required . We did not wait long for our food or drinks . We ordered desserts and they came quickly ( important when you have impatient children 🙂 . The food was of high quality and tasty . We will definitely be returning . Thank you

Nice friendly pub. Good parking. Great outdoor space to eat and drink. Good atmosphere inside. Table service. Food probably above average, compared to your average Wetherspoons. Wetherspoons is probably cheaper but doesn't have the same attractive location. Our fourth visit this year. No complaints other than the price increases (but that's everywhere!). UPDATE Recent revisit 21.8.24. Not up to scratch today! Red wine was cold. Very cold. Traces of bone in a cowboy burger. Batter on the fish was soggy and uneatable. Service was slow. Atmosphere was cool and noisy from shouting children and barking dogs (in the restaurant) We'll give it a miss from now on.

Bought food and told that my card transaction did not go through. I attempted another three times but then refused to try anymore before checking my bank. Transpired that I was charged. Nine days later I'm still waiting for my refund.

We come to The Sun Inn regularly, food, service and atmosphere is always excellent. Food is always consistently great.

We were a group of 12 people, 6 are from a local care home in wheelchairs. Our table was very easy to access and we were given a very warm welcome. The service we received was amazing. Quite a few of our group had complex dietary requirements which was handled efficiently and easily. Our whole experience was excellent and very much enjoyed by everyone. Thank you.

Got there 40 mins early but was sat straight to our table and served drinks whilst waiting for other guests to join us. Food was delicious and the table service was very good. Everything cleared away quickly when finished each course.

We came last weekend and sat outside. The children had a great time playing in the play area. I ordered a roast. It was poor. There was literally around 3 table spoons of gravy on the whole thing which made it so dry. I asked for more and they said it would be at a cost. The roast potatoes were that hard I couldn't eat them at all. I wouldn't have it again. The children's meals are so so so small. Literally like 6 chips on the plate. My partner had the burger and he said that was nice. The service was slow at the bar and cleaning the tables. We moved tables so we could sit in the shade and the table had dirty glasses and plates on it. The woman came over to give us our drinks and went to walk away without clearing them. We had to call her back. Wed long finished our food and they just kept walking past and not clearing the table. The service overall was poor. Mine and my children's food wasn't great. I wouldnt eat here again but for the play area and outside area id cone back

We had a table booked for 630 Saturday evening, it's been a while since we have dined out as a family with the current costs of things going up we are watching our money. Having previously been here before it looks like we share a few of the latest people's anger with how this place has sadly changed. We were seated fine with no issues and were told it would be a 45 minute wait on food. We waited a good 10 minutes for drinks to begin with having tried to flag somebody down. We were served by a young lady that finally managed to take both food and drinks order granted pleasant enough to begin with. When the food arrived at the table I bit into my kebab and straight away said to my partner it was cold, she also had the same problem with her dish along with the fries. My son also had the chicken burger which was exaclty the same bun was burnt and the chicken had gone cold. We did have a checkback on the food and I immediately told the young lady of our issues which she then changed her attitude towards us no empathy but in a stern voice just said well do you want me to get you another one? The tone in her voice had already set the mood of how this one was going to finish. I said we would just take the bill and speak to the manager. We spoke to the manager that gave us a reason that the young people coming in need better coaching skills how to deal with people when giving good customer service and that the chicken is always probed before being sent out, but she couldn't say as to why it was cold in between it being under the hotplate and being sent to the table maybe it was sitting there longer than it should. She also told us it would be an hour wait for food when we were told it was 45 mins which wasn't an issue to us but shot herself in the foot. We hadn't touched our food and they would have still been happy to take our money had we not kicked up such a fuss, felt totally let down as we have been here previously, even though we managed to get a refund I'm not sure I believed the half hearted apology and we will not be returning

Really good value for money. The four of us chose different meals, and none of us had any complaints about the food - it was all good. Service is slow but it always is, so because we expected it that wasn't a problem.

Went for lunch today,and had a great experience. The two burger meals where good ,puddings excellent price and large portions.Put the food together with the very polite staff and you have a winner.Totally different to the poor service and food we had at the park gate.cheers

Really disappointed with our Sunday roast, chicken was a whole breast of chicken which over took the plate it was also dry and over cooked, stuffing was rock hard. Dirty fat taste in the Yorkshire pudding. Asked for mint sauce to drown out the awful taste byt they had none…!!

Attended on the invite from friends who live locally. If you have a child under 6 and fancy a drink it's great as there's a great play area at the end if the beer garden. Staff worked hard, drinks are pretty much what you'd expect, never tried the food.

Food lovley and 2 for 1 great. Management and staff are very helpful. Gardens and play area worth a visit it's a very popular venue if you want to eat in the restaurant I would advise booking online its quick and easy.

The team were wonderfully welcoming as always, I was seated and offered a drink whilst I waited for my cousin to join me. We ordered food which was very tasty, presented well and brought out on hot plates. We had all the cutlery and sauces we needed. Staff were polite and the environment was very chilled. Made it easier to talk. Many thanks to the team, we always have a great experience when we visit and we will definitely be coming again soon! :)
