Fantastic service in the bar, just very overpriced £10 for a large glass of pinot noir

I had the displeasure of staying at this hell hole this weekend and I have to say that it is both worst hotel, and the worst value for money hotel I’ve ever stayed in. This hotel is very very tired. Wall paper peeling off the walls, untidy paintwork, worn out fraying carpets and the place is not very clean. The rooms are awful and look like they were furnished badly courtesy of the local charity shop, sometime during the 1980s. No curtains in the room, only a broken five quid light blue roller blind that looks like it’s first home was in a bathroom. The photos of the rooms online bear no resemblance to the room I stayed in and it did remind me of a scabby B&B I stayed in on a Blackpool trip 30 years ago. The bathroom was shocking. Not filthy but just old. The shower had no pressure and the taps hardly worked. The radiator was rusty. It’s a shame I didn’t read the reviews and take note of the rating before I booked. What I did find quite funny was the buy who checked us in tried to act as if he was checking us into the Ritz in London or a place like that. Talking all posh and like a robot with no emotion like they do This raised our expectations and we were in for a treat yet 30 seconds later I’m standing in absolutely the worst hotel room I’ve ever been in. . The included in the £260 two night rate breakfast was ok. However the tight lot did suggest we paid extra for a latte and even watered the orange juice down. The guy in the bar was pleasant and he provided the only decent thing I had there and that was a lovely cold bottle of corona.

The rudest staff I have ever seen ever, and the food was the worst I didn’t even eat it

Only "popped" in for a quick drink - lovely place, fantastically helpful staff. Will 100% go again for a meal.

Lunch of croque madame, an amazing club sandwich. Fish and chips poor but immediately removed from the bill. Lovely waiter, lovely atmosphere, lovely place to visit

Opened up again - just drinks so far up until new year. Such nostalgia walking back in - clean and had its old vibe!! Sooooo pleased.

I organised a Christmas lunch for 10 people at the Horse and Jockey. They made organising and booking it very easy. The food was great and they were very accommodating to a plus minute additional person. Would recommend if you're looking for a Christmas meal with a large or small group.

Absolutely dreadful. Food and service were appalling. We went for Christmas lunch and will NEVER EVER go again We ordered champagne, it was brought to our table unopened and left for us to open it. Not poured for us. No chance to taste Not asked how we’d like steak cooked. It was almost raw Had to ask for water. No ice. No salt and pepper Had to ask for sauces Some staff in casual clothing and even sportswear I could go on but frankly it’s pointless, I just suggest you go somewhere else. There are plenty of similar reviews on here and things are not improving

Wow what can I say I spend so much money in nero and I go every day. I have never been spoken to like this ever. It was disgusting and all customers heard. He was busy and I did ask for take away cup. So I went to help myself he needs a different job. Glasses bout 5ft 10 dark hair. Normally I help clear tables etc. I have been in hospitality for over 20 yrs I am in shock. Paul keen 07703800374 Paulkeen1976@gmail.com
