The Taj Tandoori is a gem. Brilliant staff and great value for money with great attention to detail 😌😌😮‍💨

The front of house provide amazing service and gave great suggestions about what to eat, based on my personal tastes and allergies. I had the Madhu Murgh which is a sweet chicken tikka special. Would definitely go back.

First time we have ordered since the Taj has had new owners. Service was good, order was ready in time.Food was excellent, portions bigger than before and the meat was more succulent, peshwari nans were beautiful. Could have done with some yogurt sauce with the main meal (tandoori cocktail) as my husband stole some of mine but overall very happy with our takeaway thank you keep up the good work

Seen some subtle changes to a favourite meal we have in the last couple of weeks but tonight we have been served a completely different meal that is full of oil/ ghee rather than the tasty ingredients that made the Taj great. The naan bread is completely different too and has a strange taste undertone we can’t put our finger on? On top of that we ordered our meal just after 18.30 and they said it would be ready at 19.15, however we asked to collect at 20.00 only to have to wait 40 minutes extra before being given our meal!! All in all, very negative since being taken over and we won’t be back. So unfortunate we’ve lost a great local Indian takeaway!! 😔

Top class food tandoori mixed grill the best ive ever had in the country good portions once you try them you wont go anywhere else thats for sure. Im sorry to say the food and portions have gone down hill the meat was chewey and didn't taste very good and the portions were half the size but the price had gone up it's a real shame we used to order every Christmas eve for a big spread we will give it a miss this year a real shame 😢

Best Indians in Ashington and one of the best in the North East. Staff are all extremely friendly and food is top quality.

Tikka masala and korma is best around. Definitely wouldn’t go to any other curry house just a shame they don’t deliver. Onion baji unfortunately wasn’t the best but you can’t have everything, curry is always gorgeous

One of the worst Indian meals I ever had , I am visiting the north east from Middle East . My friend said they are the winner of the Northumberland of Indian food , I was rather craving for biryani so I asked my friend if I could have actually two ( I know I was very famished ) . I ordered chicken and lamb buryani , it was really bland !! No taste at all , the price is not cheap I can tell you , the same in London would be perhaps similar but definitely has a taste and that’s to the English friends as well . So there you have it £25 gone and it actually made me sick and couldn’t even eat the first meal. When I order I mentioned to be hot , it came non spiced and bland, rather one of the worst meal I have ever tasted. Never ever again from this restaurant, I prefer to make mine and I certainly make it better than what I tasted . Buryani should have distinctive taste , spiced and hot ( different rates may vary )

Best tandoori I've ever been to. Fabulous food, lovely staff and nice little touches like the chocolates and even carrying my order to the car. Highly recommended.

Struggled to find anywhere in the North East that meets any decent standard of Indian cuisine until I started buying food from Taj. This place is consistently of a high standard when it comes to Indian food. Highly recommended, and as a chef of Indian food for the last 20 years, I personally recommend this takeaway.

Been using the Taj for years and never had a bad meal, and tonight was no exception. Had a lovely chicken karai, just the right amount of chillies 🙂 Would recommend them to anybody.

Excellent takeaway - we had a king prawn balti, saag aloo, keema naan. Big portions, the saag aloo was really fantastic as was the keema naan. The prawns in the balti were really good and had been deveined. This definitely lives up to its reputation as the best takeaway in Ashington.

This takeaway is by far the best we've been to and would thoroughly recommend. We look forward to having an Indian meal from here every time we visit Northumberland on holiday. Their menu is clearly marked with allergens so I was easily able to select my gluten free choices. The food is exemplary in quality and quantity - I wish our local takeaway was half as good.

The first meal out (takeaway or otherwise) and it was always going to be The Taj first. we used the online pre-order system for the first time and it was easy to use and worked perfectly. The meal was ready on time, hot and worth every penny and some. This is the best takeaway food I've had anywhere and the food is easily restaurant standard for well below eat in price. It's probably better than any Indian food we've had in any restaurant. Nothing could be faulted. Absolutely excellent.

Absolutely amazing place in every aspect. I can't fault it and can't think of anywhere else I would rather go for a curry now. I would fully recommend the Chicken Tikka Masala and Chicken Chatt from this place.

Very generous portion tonight and main meal was very good. However, the bhajis were cold and overcooked and naan was also cold. Salad was nice. Meal prices also seem to be increasing.

Ordered tonight for the 1st time after our previous place went downhill. We ordered 2 starters, 2 mains, 2 rice, sides and naan, and everyone of them was outstanding!! Always quality delicious food - every time

Delicious food and decent portions, was ready on time and seemed shop was taking hygiene and social distancing seriously which is good. More expensive than other kinds of takeaway but similar to other indians.

Ordered a meal for me and my partner to collect. The takeaway itself is presented well and spotlessly clean. Appropriate social distancing measures had been applied on this occasion too. The food was brilliant. I couldn't not find any fault. I had a tandoori cocktail which was very generous in portion size and tasted fantastic, with a fresh salad and a lovely stuffed paratha. My partner had a chicken korma, which she said is the best she'd ever had and tasted beautiful. She loved it. In conclusion the food was tremendous, we were both stuffed with food to spare and it was a much needed moment of joy in an otherwise gloomy time. Thank you to the team at thr Taj. Well done.

Ordered our Takeaway by Phone and it was ready for Collection in 30mins, served by the always pleasant staff and on my home within 5 mins of arriving at the Taj.Food was excellent(Chicken Tikka Masala and Onion Pilau), great Flavour Tender Chicken and Tasty Onion Rice made for a great Saturday Night.

I visited this place yesterday for a take away, the waiting area was spotless and comfortable. The service was excellent and we got exactly what we wanted. We didn't have to wait very long for our food and it was very very good, large chunks of meat and generous portions, red hot and really tasty. I'm not going to bother going anywhere else from now on for this cuisine. Massive thumbs up from myself and my picky fiancè.

Called in for takeout , I only ordered 3 starters plus a nan bread but what a feast my friend and I had . As it had been a long while since I had been here I had forgot how good the food was .

Pretty good and tasty. Special tandoori will fill you up. You'll have a long wait at 6pm at weekends due to the high demand as they take a lot of phoned orders. This is not a bad thing as it shows how good they are!

Best Indian cuisine in Ashington

Well this was such a super meal. We had Murgh Massala, chicken Ceylon, King prawn massala, chicken Rogan Josh and chicken tikka massala all with rice and naan bread. It’s the best takeaway Indian meal I have had in a long while. Can’t wait to try again.

Edit: they've revived and deserve the title of tastiest takeaway on the area upgraded by moi to 4* keep it this way and get back to 5* ---- Always a safe curry, number one in Ashington but used to be so much better a few years ago, same owners but maybe different chef? Get the old one back and get a 5* review again!

This is my regular take away and I don't think there are better around the local area. I have tried a few places similar to the Taj but always keep coming back because nothing really beats them.

Hubbie & I tried The Taj recently when he’d had a few drinks in the area. We tend to use the other Indian takeaways in the area as they deliver but are nowhere near as nice. Have to say food was absolutely delish, very high quality and great value....just wish they’d deliver!

Been using the Taj for years but haven't been for a while & was really looking forward to this as the food has always been top notch, unfortunately the food was very bland & watery, hopefully just been an off night for the chef

We've followed Sami since he opened the first tandoori take away in Ashington in the early eighties. Excellent quality then and the same excellent quality food served from the Taj today.

Just been tonight and i got say starters and mains were poor. As normal at takeaways the chicken pakora batter was not crispy, the buna prawn on puree was OK (just) the 2 x mains were pretty much tasteless. the peswari nan was OK

Well ! Heard of the place over the last few months and decided to get in the car and go. We live for in Tynemouth so quite a hike but well worth the diesel ! Anyone who is familiar with TYNEMOUTH will be aware of the choice we have.

We've been going to Taj for over 20 years and cannot fault it. We've had other indian takeaway but none match the quality and competitive prices of Taj. Great choice of menu, fast service and lovely staff......what's there not to like!

The best takeaway in town, made authentically with the tastiest ingredients. The aroma is too inviting when you pass, I would eat there daily if I could!

Being a fairly regular customer when I am in the area well 28 mile round trip from Amble well worth it, the food is always without question 100%,what does impress me most is the personal touch,taking the trouble to remember your name and make you feel welcome, the food is packed with care and not a drop spilled the order is always right and consistently excellent a breath of fresh air.

We came to Cresswell 3 years ago on holiday and had a takeaway from Taj based on other reviews - we were not disappointed! We are back on our holidays (March 2017) and had to try it again - WOW!! This place still has the best curry outside of India! PLEASE open a place in Milton Keynes! The food is absolutely delicious and the portions very generous indeed. I'm going to have to book another holiday just so I can have more Taj food!!

Haven't been in a long while. But very good only thing is you still have to collect which was a 45 minute wait. We had a lamb madras with plain rice and garlic chips which was really good not a lot of meat in the curry but flavour was good. We will definitely be back and next time chilli chips.

Tried all of the Indian takeaways, this is by far the best. The flavours and the portions are really good. The meals are extremely well packed to keep the meal hit. Try it, you will not be dissapointed.i wis they did home delivery.

Great Indian take away cooked with proper pieces of good size chicken not the rubbery stuff like some take aways. Family run business always feel welcome when entering the shop very nice family. No delivery service but it all about the quality and choice of the food
